Chapter 10: Frozen Moment
Rorik POV
The rest of the day was a blur. Between the countless questions, many of which Rorik didn't even know the answer to, and the even more bountiful congratulations, Rorik hardly had time to eat lunch. It wasn't till an hour after lunch that he finally was able to lose the group that had begun following him after lunch and sneak back to the Akatosh cabin. What he found pleasantly surprised him.
"Well, someone's popular." Erin said, holding her arms out forward." I knew you would try to get back here. You never were one for attention, were you ?"
Rorik took the cue and helped her up from the chair on the porch of the cabin. "Yeah. With attention comes noise and crowds. Neither of which are fun. You mind if we head inside ? I don't want my little fan group finding me again."
"But it's so nice out !" Erin said, lying on the floor.
"C'mon. Let's go." He scooped Erin up, putting her over his shoulder and carrying her inside. Rorik tossed her effortlessly onto the plush brown couch in the common room of the Akatosh cabin then wandered over to the kitchenette on the other side of the common room. "Anything to eat ?"
The blond sighed in defeat. "What ya' got ?"
"Uhhhh… cookies, hot chocolate, popcorn, chocolate and apples."
"Could you make some popcorn ?"
"As you wish" Erin blushed a little, not knowing if he knew what he was quoting.
After the popcorn was ready, Rorik took a seat on the couch next to Erin. Hoping his face wasn't turning red because of the close proximity. He turned on the 50" flat screen that was adjacent to the couch. As he flipped on Netflix Erin shot him a question look.
"I pulled some strings with the Hephaestus and Hermes cabins."
They decided on "The Fault in Our Stars". Well, more like Erin threatened to turn his hair blond with her biokinesis if he didn't let her watch the movie. Rorik had never read the book but Erin had. She said it was about love and cancer. But Rorik didn't really watch the movie. Instead he mostly looked at Erin who was completely engrossed in the movie. When it neared the end (SPOILERS ! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ OR ARE READING "THE FAULT IN OUR STARS", BE WARNED!) and Augustus died, she moved closer to Rorik and rested her head on his shoulder, clutching his arm. Rorik could feel the sleeve of his shirt begin to wet a little. He comfortingly put his arm around her shoulders.
Alejandro POV
Alejandro strolled over to the Akatosh cabin. He guessed that Rorik would have hid there to escape the group of eager campers that were following him earlier. He peaked through the window by the door of the cabin and had to suppress a laugh. Erin was snuggled up against Rorik, quietly crying into his shoulder. As quickly and quietly as he could, Alejandro pulled out his phone that he had modified to be monster proof and two photos. One of them he would keep to use as blackmail, and sell the other to Olivia. "I wonder how much I'll get for this"
Rorik POV
Quietly, and depressingly, the movie ended. Rorik was about to stand up from the couch but there was a steady, shallow breathing coming from his shoulder. Erin had fallen asleep with her head on his shoulder and her arms around his torso. Not wanting the moment to end, he turned on another movie of his choice. Once "The Lone Survivor" was playing Rorik leaned back into the couch and put his arm around Erin. 'She really is beautiful.' Rorik thought, looking at her peacefully sleeping, "If only this moment could last forever" Slowly Rorik drifted off into sleep as well.
Hey guys. I know this was the shortest chapter I've ever posted but it was gonna be one larger chapter called Bonfire but that didn't work out with limited amount of time I had to write this. In fact, 90% of this chapter was written between 2 and 3am. I'm gonna try to get back into the loop of updating. Again, sry. I'll try to update more.
