It was dark. The snow a freezing cold and 2 feet deep, making it nearly impossible to run. Bullets whizzed by and shredded trees right next to him. He screamed and clutched his right ear as a bullet ripped through it. Another punctured his shin. He fell to the ground. The snow now crimson around him. A man stood over him and shined a flashlight that was mounted on a gun in his faced.

Rorik jolted awake, covered in a cold sweat and gasping for breath. He brushed aside his shaggy brown hair and fingered the rough edge of what remained of his right ear. The scar on his shin feeling ever present. He looked around, remembering where he was. He was in the back of the camaro that Alejandro had 'liberated'. It was dark outside as the countryside flew by. It was snowing steadily. They passed a sign that said 'I 71'.

Ale glanced back and saw that Rorik was awake. "Hey, you okay ?"

"Ye-yeah. Just …. just reliving a hard time."

The spaniard smile sadly, "Yeah. We all have those. Part of being a demigod I guess. Hey, do you think you could do me a favor ?"

"Yeah, what ?"

"Talk to Erin. I know she's asleep but she's been tossing and turning but she was muttering your name and asking for help. I think she's reliving one of those hard times."

"Sure man." He was more than willing to help. Rorik undid Erin's seatbelt and leaned up against the door, leaning Erin up against his chest.

She started muttering in her sleep. "Rorik. Help. Army. Mom."

He wrapped his arms along her. "Sh, sh, sh. It's okay. I'm here."

"Rorik?" Erin muttered in her sleep, seemingly semi-aware of his presence.

"Yeah, it's me. You're okay, you're safe. I won't let them hurt you. Not now, not ever."

"O-Okay" She sighed contently and leaned into him, nuzzling her head into his shoulder.

"Thanks, she's like an older sister to me and I don't like seeing her unhappy." Said Ale. Rorik remembered that Ale was a year younger than him. Not that he cared. He was just as mature when it came down to it and as loyal as anyone you would ever meet.

"Yeah. Trust me, it's not pleasant for me either."

"Oh I know. And so does everyone back at camp." In the mirror Ale could see Rorik's blushed face. "You didn't seriously expect for the both of you to disappear for a couple hours and then show up together at the bonfire and for people not to talk, did you ? Also, I may have taken some pictures of you and Erin and sold them to Jessie and Olivia." Rorik usually would have punched Ale for taking pictures like that but he was too happy due to a certain blond sleeping peacefully on his chest.

Rorik tried to change the subject. "So, where are we heading ?"

"We're about 20 minutes outside of Indianapolis. We passed through Louisville a couple of hours ago. I think we're gonna grab something to eat in Indianapolis then go to Chicago. I have some friends there that could probably help us out. I'll leave you to your crush now. But, I do have one piece of advice. Make your move. You heard the prophecy. We might not all make it back. Incase one of you don't make it, you should know how each other feel. And I'm willing to bet she likes you." Alejandro said seriously.

Rorik was left speechless and simply nodded. He hadn't really expected to hear that. He knew that it was a possibility, even probable, that not everyone would make it back. He resolved to start planning on how to tell her and kissed the top of Erin's head and drifted off to sleep. This time he dreamed peacefully.

Hey guys. Sorry for the absence and the short chapter. As far as the length goes, it just fitted the timing in the story. But don't worry. For once I have a plan for the next couple chapters. They should be out quicker since I have a 5 day weekend this coming week because of Thanksgiving. I know that a portion of my readers are not american but yeah, we get school off for this holiday. So yeah. And hey. Mass Effect players be on the look out. There's gonna be a couple of huge reference to the game in the next two chapters. In fact, the chapters might revolve around the references. Bye yall. Please fav., follow, and review.
