Chapter 19: Planning
"I do still have one question." Asked Rorik. "Why did the nordic gods forbid having children ?"
"Well-" said Nonsi.
At that moment another member of the guild burst through the door yelling. Like everyone else in the guild he wore the same uniform. But instead of skin he had scales. And a tail peeked out from behind his tails. "Rohan wanted me to get you. They found Cirroc, Lisa and Do'Jar'Qua."
Shock registered on Nathe's face. "Where are they ?"
Rohan walked into the room. "Follow me. It will be easier to explain in the war room. And you, nord, come as well. I feel that you will be of great practicality. And Ja-Deev, go fetch their friend, the weaponsmith. He may be useful as well." Rorik, accompanied by Erin and Ale, followed the groups leader through a series of hallways that ultimately led to a dark circular room with single circular pedestal in the center. Three people in Dark Brotherhood uniforms stood to the side. Rohan walked over to the pedestal and typed something into a holographic keyboard. From the pedestal a display appeared. It was the map of a stretch of highway, five holographic trucks were in the road.
"I know it seems like I'm asking this a lot but, what is this ?" Asked Rorik.
"This is the Strategic Assassination Organizer. Or as we in the Brotherhood call it, the S.A.O. . It gives us a holographic display of the location we plan to carry out our … contracts. From there we can plan everything from the first arrow to the sheathing of the blade." Answered Rohan. "From here I'll hand it over to our strategist, Shrine."
"Thank you, now let me start at the beginning. Three weeks ago we received an interesting contract. It was from a US senator requesting that we end the life of a Captain in the Anti-Demigod branch of the military in exchange for an incredibly large sum of money. Seemingly he had discovered that the senator himself was a demigod. Seeing as the Captain resided in the Wright Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. We sent three of our best assassins. Cirroc is a Executioner, Lisa who is a Silencer and most importantly Do'Jar'Qua. He is the Dark Brotherhood's Listener. The highest and most important role. Without a listener we can not operate. They were all captured after motion sensor alarm went off. Just a few minutes ago we were able to discover the route that the convoy transporting them to prison will take. That convoy must not reach it's destination." Explained Shrine.
"Great explanation but why are you dragging us into this ? It doesn't concern us." Said Erin.
Shrine looked pleased that she had asked that. "We are only involving the Nord. The Dark Brotherhood has been unknown and thought long gone from the world for centuries when really we are at our strongest since 3E 41, we have to power to kill people on a global scale. We would not like to see that power disappear because someone talks about our methods. Therefore we are involving as few outsiders as possible in our missions." Rohan turned his attention to the SAO. "We are only involving him because some of the military's best equipped soldiers will be in this convoy tomorrow, including the Captain. And the power that boy possess could be the key to success."
They spent the next 2 hours discussing the plan to ambush the convoy. The SAO and the Dark Brotherhood's scouts had provided the perfect place prior to the planning. A narrow road that was flanked by low-lying buildings that were in shambles. At the end of one of the roads that intersected with the road the convoy would take was a 11 story apartment building.
Nonsi would take up a sniping position on the roof of the apartment building. Each truck held six soldiers, a driver, someone in the passenger seat and four soldiers in the back. Including the three prisoners there would be 33 people in the convoy. Scouting reports had confirmed that the captured assassins would be in the middle three trucks. So the first and last trucks would be taken out with explosives attached to the bottom of sewer covers.
Once the explosives had gone off they would be on the clock. Nathe and Nonsi would take the first truck. She would snipe the driver and passenger, essential stopping the convoy on the narrow road, while Nathe would clear the rear of the truck. Three assassins would take the third truck, one taking out the driver and passenger while the other two cleared the back. Rorik and Rohan were assigned the center truck. Like with the rest of the trucks Rorik would take the front and Rohan the back.
"There's one problem" Said Tommy. "In events like this the military would assume that their prisoners are demigods. Protocol would dictate that they execute the prisoners rather than have them recovered by the enemy."
"Yes, we know. And that is why we need the boy." Said Shrine. "He can use his slow time shout so that we can get in and out before they knew what happened."
Rorik was shocked that Shrine knew so much about his powers. And apparently the shock was clear on his face. "You are not the first person that the Dark Brotherhood has worked with that has the blessing of Akatosh. We know how to tell you apart from the crowd."
"Wait" Said Rorik, " I understand that you know about …. people like me, but would Slow Time slow your assassins down too ?"
"Under normal circumstances it would but like I said, we have worked with blessed ones before. The last one we worked with a couple of centuries ago was kind enough to give us much insight to your abilities. Using that knowledge we have created potions to …. modify the effects of your shouts. So don't worry. The Brotherhood has it under control. Now all of you, go prepare. You move out in 30 minutes." Replied Shrine.
Hey guys, I can't say sorry enough. I have been really tired and preoccupied with Christmas. I finished this two days ago but was planning to add like another 1500 words on but I'm so far behind that I'm just gonna make it the next chapter. I'm sorry, but that's how it's happening. Next chapter will be more entertaining. I've been watching Log Horizon so strategy is on my mind. Please review, fav and follow. Arkos T.F.I.W. out.
PS. My PM box is having some issues. As in, it doesn't work really at all. So if you have a idea please, leave it in the reviews.
