Frigid gale force winds shook Nokholvir as he tried to remain airborne. All those who sat in the saddle strapped to the dragon's back gripped the sides of the saddle for dear life. After peacefully flying just above the clouds for a wonderful couple of hours, strong winds had set in when they crossed into Wyoming. It had started as just a light breeze, slowly escalating all the way to winds that felt as though they belonged with a hurricane.
In the midst of the confusion, Nokholvir flew into a pocket of warm air, sending the dragon and all those who were unfortunate enough to be aboard flying higher into the atmosphere. A feeling of zero gravity overtook everyone before they began to plummet back down towards the Earth. Nokholvir thrashed down below them, trying desperately to orient himself. 'No.' thought Rorik 'we're not on Nokholvir. That means we're fair game for Zeus'. The skies directly above them began to rumble as bright flashes shown through the clouds. Acting instinctively, Rorik wrapped an arm around Erin and grabbed Alejandro and Richard's shirt collars. He glanced down and saw that Nokholvir had gotten himself right side up but couldn't achieve any lift . Rorik positioned himself so that he was facing upward and shouted.
"FUS RO DAH !" The four of them were rocketed down towards Nokholvir, landing with thud in the saddle. Ale clutched his back, screaming in pain. 'Di Immortales !' The ground was drawing closer and closer when an idea sprang to Rorik's mind. He climbed along the giant reptiles neck and placed his hand on the dragon's head. 'Nokholvir, can you hear me ?' Rorik thought.
Rorik heard a voice in his head. 'Yes, Zeymah. I can hear you.'
'Good. Now I asked you to trust me, and give me control.'
'Very well' Responded the dragon. Rorik focussed all of his thoughts on flight, power, and the freedom only found in the limitless sky. All of a sudden blackness washed over him.
Rorik's eyes flickered open as he glanced around. He still felt the sensation of falling, but in front of him he could see a scaley snout, and to the side he could see two powerful wings. It had worked.
He spread his new wings and let them fill with wind like sails, drastically slowing his descent. Rorik's freefall began to change into an angled descent but they were still hurtling the planet. The ground and the forest below grew ever closer. 100ft. 50ft. 20ft. Blackness.
Again, Rorik's eyes slowly opened. Snow and wind whipped all around. Before him stood a giant stone fortress with dragon heads carved into it's front wall. Strange men in grey robes paraded out of the two large metal doors. They all stood in a line at the edge of the terrifying cliff that the fortress was situated on.
In unison they all shouted. "Fin miraad mahfaeraak bex, Kinbok !"
The blackness overcame him again. When Rorik opened his eyes he was staring directly into Erin's tear filled eyes. She was gripping his shoulders and had desperately been trying to shake him awake. They sat there for a moment in absolute silence.
"You bastard !" Screamed Erin. She slapped him across the face. Rorik lay in shock.
He puller the daughter of the sun god into a hug. "Your alive." Rorik whispered.
"Yeah. Yeah, I am." She replied similarly, her voice having lost its previous edge. "I'm sorry. That was uncalled for. It's just … you scared me. We thought you were dead." Tears began to well in her eyes again. "In the storm you climbed onto Nokholvir's neck and then we started gliding. When we found you after the crash you were completely limp, you were pale, you were …. dead."
"Oh gods ! Is Nokholvir okay" Rorik asked in a panic.
"Yeah he's fine. And so are we. Ya know, no reason to celebrate. You best friend is only miraculously alive after a horrible crash." Ale joked.
Hearing his name, Nokholvir rose his head, breaking the camouflage that the shadows in the rear of the cave provided him. "Geh. Yes. I still draw breath."
"Glad to hear it Zeymah."
Nokholvir nodded, glad to hear that he was appreciated. "But there is one thing of which confuses me. You were dilon. Dead. Your ronaan fahdon, archer friend, assured us, though it was reluctant."
"I do believe that would be my friend's doing." All heads turned towards the new voice at the mouth of the cave.
"Holy shit" muttered Ale. "You're … you're-"
"Perseus Jackson. At your service."
Hey guys. I'm sorry. I know I've been gone for forever and a day but state testing started so there was that weird schedule, Ohio (my state) got a ton of snow so that messed with my schedule even more and on top of all of that I was just straight busy. Not to mention scheduling high school classes. But I'm back to stay. Thank you all for finishing February with over 1000 views in just that month, that makes it the 3rd month in a row. Apologizes if this chapter has some errors. I'm barely managing to get it out. And that ending. Brace yourself.
