Corrin looked back and forth from the two sides. She was surrounded by so many people that loved and cared about her, but somehow felt more alone than ever. How was she supposed to choose?
The Hoshidans were her blood, and she felt closer to them in seven days than she had with the Nohrians in fourteen years. She couldn't turn her back on them now, could she?
The Nohrians had been with her as long as she could remember. She didn't realize how much she loved them until she was in Hosido. They didn't deserve to be in Nohr, constantly attacking innocent Hoshidans, who wouldn't even be in the war if Nohr didn't start it! She corrected her thought. No one in Nohr would fight if King Garon didn't start it!How could she leave her adopted siblings to suffer under his reign!?
Corrin knew that she had to do it. Abandon one part of her family for the other. She gazed lovingly at the Hosidans, looking at each one of them. Ryoma in his clunky red armor, desperation hidden in his eyes. Takumi, who looked uninterested, but would occasionally glance in her direction. Hinoka looked like she could cry as she held Sakura in her arms.
Then, she took a deep breath, and turned towards the Nohrians.
"Ryoma!" Corrin called back to her brother. "Withdraw your troops!" The gasps of all of her Hoshidan family followed her announcement of betrayal.
"You don't mean that! You will fight with us!" Ryoma called back to her. "Can't you see how vile they are? They are hateful and only bring destruction! They killed our mother!"
"It's not that simple," Corrin responded, tears filling her eyes. "I know now that they aren't my family by blood, and what has been done by their kingdom is unforgivable! I couldn't begin to tell you how sorry I am, or even why I'm doing it, but I must stand with them."
"How can you fight alongside them?! Think about all that they've done!" Ryoma cried.
"Ryoma," Corrin began but her words were cut off by tears.
"Corrin, you are a princess of Hosido! You are my sister!" Ryoma continued. "You can't turn your back on me! On all of us!"
"Corrin," Xander said. He was seated on his horse, ready for battle. His expression was filled with more love and compassion than she'd ever seen in him. "You're doing the right thing. You do not share our blood but you choose to stand with us, and we are all happy beyond words to see you return. I speak for everyone by saying that we've regarded you as family since we laid eyes on you."
"Thank you, Xander," Corrin said, smiling through tears at her brother. Then, she turned around to Ryoma. "I have things to fix, Ryoma. They can only be fixed if I return to Nohr!"
"They are murderers! All of them! Don't you think that the people you call family knew about your attempted murder?!" Ryoma shouted.
"What is he talking about?" Xander asked and Corrin turned to him.
Ryoma continued, "The blast came from the sword given to Corrin! This is what I'm saying. You can't trust a word they say!" Then, he began to draw his sword.
"Ryoma, don't do this!" Corrin pleaded, but it was no use.
"I am sorry, but I can't let you return to Nohr!" and with that, Ryoma began to advance on them, bringing with him the full force of Hoshido.
