Lyon stared into Juvia with intense passion in his eyes. He took a large dry gulp, clenched his fists tightly, and took deep breaths in and out. It was as if he was going to reveal his biggest secret. He seemed nervous with a hint of shyness. His face turned red and there was visible sweat.
The silver-haired man opened his mouth, "It's about you and Gray. I don't know what's going on between you two, but I promise I will always be there for you when you need it." He whispered turning his eyes to the ground, "But I want you to know... That I think you and..." Lyon paused for what felt like hours. His brows narrowed each other with a frown. His face seemed upset and looked heart-broken. "T-That I think you and Gray belong together," he spoke so softly. Lyon kept his head down and squeezed the teddy bear in his arms tighter than before. "Y-you should go to him. I know my brother, and I am sure that he likes you... maybe even love you."
Before Juvia could argue, Lyon gave her his teddy bear and ran as fast as he could away from her. His heart-beat as fast as a hummingbird's. He finally stopped when he knew Juvia was far away from him. The silver-haired man panted and gently bonked his head to the nearest wall.
"That was something," a voice spoke kindly. Lyon looked up to see his best friend Jura. He was one of the toughest guys at Lamia Scale High.
Lyon stared at him and grumbled. His eyes were glaring at him with not hate, but sorrow. "You saw it?" Lyon sighed as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
Jura nodded, "you were about to say, that you think you and Juvia belong together, correct?" he questioned despite knowing the answer, "but you knew how much Juvia loves Gray, so you encouraged her to go for him." In the bald man's voice, it was filled with praise and pride. He patted Lyon's back and grinned, "you really grew up. If this was the you before, you would have just down-talked about Gray to her."
The silver-haired man shrugged his shoulders to hide the blush on his face, "S-shut up. I just want her to be happy. And I know that... I'm not the one able too..." he frowned as he let those words escape his mouth. The truth stung hard.
"I'm proud of you," Jura said still grinning.
"Whatever, I want something to eat. Let's get some ice cream," Lyon started to walk towards the ice-cream booth.
Jura folded his arms and nodded in agreement, "it will be my treat, Lyon."
Lucy couldn't help but keep on staring at him. I felt like hours when it was probably only minuets. She snapped out of that state when she noticed Gray's head shifting towards her. She immediately hid her face with the giant doll and bit her tongue, hoping he wouldn't be rash and see who she was.
Gray glanced at her with sadness in his eyes. Lucy only got a quick glimpse after using the doll to hide herself. It was only a second, but she saw how heart broken he was.
The stripped frowned seeing someone notice his current state. How pathetic... He couldn't careless who the person behind the giant doll was but asked out of curiosity and to distract himself, "how much did you see and what do you want?" Gray asked coldly.
The busty blonde flinched at that time. She heard him mad before, but the way he said things were as cold as ice itself. Lucy shook her head to snap out of it. She had to reply, "I think..." Lucy mumbled, "I think you should talk to Juvia..." She made sure she changed her voice so he couldn't recognize it.
The man's eyes widened hearing this. He quickly growled back, "fuck off, this doesn't involve you."
She was never the one to back down so easily, "do I look like I care if it doesn't involve me?" She rushed up to him blindly and shoved the stuffed animal to his face. Not enough to suffocate him, it was meant to block his vision. "Juvia is so broken right now," Lucy whispered as if she was the one suffering all that pain.
This wasn't right
He deserves to be happy
Lucy bit the inside of her cheek. She had to stay composed. "You don't understand how much Juvia is suffering as well..." The blonde was mute for minuets until she decided to tell him everything she noticed the past few days. "She puts on a smile to fool others..."
Juvia rushed into the backstage with her heart beating insanely. The talk with Lyon made her realize something very important.
Lucy felt herself become more loose, "Juvia pretended to be happy the whole time to not make you or anybody worry about her..."
The swimmer shook her head numerous times to find Gray. She asked everyone where he could be but nobody knew. Juvia sprinted out as fast as she realized he wasn't there. She didn't want to end what she and Gray had like this. Despite not knowing what they had. Juvia asked one of the Star class if she had seen him. She was so desperate to find him that she would ask anyone, even a stuck up jerk. The Star class smirked evilly and her lips started to tell her false directions.
"I don't know your past or hers. Or why she loves you so much," Lucy clamps her jaw. "But do you really want to end everything like this? Do you really think this is the best for her?" Lucy asked with worry.
Gray couldn't help but take all of what she was saying to heart.
He didn't...
He didn't want to end it all like this...
Not noticing, Lucy felt two teardrops slide down her cheeks. He was doing exactly what she had done... Running away. She ran away from home in fear like the coward she was...
She didn't want him to have the feeling of regret like she did. She didn't want him to end up like her. Lucy let down the pressure she put on his face and let go of the stuffed animal. She quickly turned to hide her face and ran before he could find out who she was. But before leaving his sight completely, she screamed to him, "don't be a dumb-ass and tell her how you feel idiot!"
Taking a large gulp, Gray yelled back, "I don't want things to end this way!" Gray panted and finally calmed down after the adrenaline in his blood lowered. He blinked several times and stared at the doll, "who the fuck was that?"
Lucy rushed to the backstage. It was almost time for the play to start. She was about to get in costume until she overheard two of the Star class bitches talking about some stupid gossip.
"Did you hear about what that crazy Juvia girl did?" the girl asked her friend in a bitchy tone. Lucy let out a small groan and got the desire to hit the girl, but she held it in when she heard they were talking about Juvia. The Danger Class leaned in closer without them realizing.
The other girl looked with at her friend in pure entertainment, "you mean how she rushed to every person and asked if they knew where Gray was? What a loser- no stalker! When will she learn? Someone like him can never like someone like her" the two bitches chuckled at the insulted they put on Juvia. The Danger class tightened her grip on her hand to stop herself from getting loose. She had to listen for a little bit more for information.
"So yea, about her. She asked me if I knew where he was. I simply told her he went to the Cherry Blossom park. The idiot believed me! Can you believe that?!" she laughed with such an ugly tone.
The second girl joined in, "isn't that like ten miles away from here? She actually believed you?!"
"She was just too desperate!"
Lucy ran out before she could start a fight. This was bad. Gray needed to tell Juvia how he felt today. It would kill him inside if he didn't immediately.
Maybe she can ask Levy for her phone so she could text Juvia where Gray was? Lucy glanced at the Bookworm to see she was too busy. Crowds of people were surrounding her for last minuet peep talks. She also noticed her phone was nowhere near her. Most likely for no interruptions and distractions.
Erza's phone? No... They weren't friends and she would get suspicious. If she tried to secretly take it, Erza would catch her easily.
"You're in my way Danger Girl," an annoying voice spoke roughly. The busty blonde turned to see it was Natsu. She really didn't want to deal with him right now. She had to find a way to contact Juvia. Maybe Gray had her phone number? Wait... Did Gray come back? The play was going to start any minuet now! "You look like an idiot," the rosy-haired jerk insulted.
The blonde stayed calm, "where is Gray? The play's about to start soon." She asked nonchalantly. Outside she may seem fine, but the inside of her mind was a whole different story. He looked at her with not disgust like always, but with impatiens. His eyes were filled with curiosity and slight irritation.
The king of Royals rolled his eyes and folded his arms. It was strange how he didn't look at her with hate filling him, "Gray came back right after you did. He's in the changing room to get ready." She ran right after those words went out of his mouth. Natsu, however, held her back by holding her waist. He couldn't help but blush by feeling how perfect her waist fit in his arms. The Star class shook his head quickly and snapped out of it. "You can't bother him now."
"Let me go. And why the hell not?" Lucy barked at him as she tried to break free from his grasp. Damn him and his strong grip!
"This is important to Gray..." The rosy-haired teen spoke seriously and smoothly. The Danger class struggled less with her ears and eyes on him. Important? Why was his play so important? Natsu spoke once again, "this is his only chance to see his family all together and somewhat prove himself..."
Prove himself? Family? Lucy was confused as ever. She didn't know anything about Gray. The only thing she knew was that he need to talk to Juvia right now, "I need to talk to him." She was so worked up because she didn't want him to regret so many things like she did. He had to go see her.
Natsu got enough of her nonsense and pinned her to a close wall. Everybody in the same room was either to afraid to defend her, busy with the play, or didn't care for her. She glared daggers but shut her mouth when she noticed he had more to say, "he worked so hard for this, and you aren't going to get in his way. I don't care what you have to say to him. This is his moment and I won't let you get in the way." he empathized the you. He glared at her as if telling her this was her last warning. He left her in the feeling of shock and surprise.
She couldn't help but stare at him in awe as he walked away from her. Her eyes were clouded with amazement. She never knew he cared about people so much. To go all out to of the way to make sure his friend stayed happy...
This was not the time for thinking weirdly! Lucy cupped her chin and thought what she could do. She couldn't talk to Gray, and if this play was as important to him as Natsu said it was... She couldn't take it away from him... The only other option was to bring Juvia here...
And that would mean...
She couldn't take part in the play...
A wave of shock overwhelmed her body. In order to help Gray... she had to give up what she worked so hard on. Knowing that, her eyes started to water. Lucy bit her bottom lip and tasted a metallic flavor. She stopped putting so much pressure on her lip and walked slowly to her dressing room. Lucy entered it quietly and stared at her princess dress in a trance like way. She kindly touched the fabric and rubbed it like she would to Plue.
She worked so hard on it...
She wanted to be part of something...
She wanted to shine in the play...
She should just get in the dress and forget about Gray's suffering. Ignore it and play the part she was meant too. Have no part in it... This wasn't her business...
"Do I look like I care if it doesn't involve me? Juvia is so broken right now."
She spoke those words to him. How can she just ignore all this when she said that? Damn her and her stupid heart. Why can't she ignore peoples pain? Why can't she just worry about herself?!
Lucy gritted her teeth and sprinted out of the room. Her eyes started to get watery, but she quickly wiped away the tears. The blonde stopped at her destination where Cana was. She stared at the wine lover with determination. The brunette on the other hand was confused why she was getting such an intense glare.
"What?" Cana asked not trying to sound polite. She had alcohol in her hand and was sightly intoxicated. Lucy pinched the bridge of her nose in stress. She couldn't believe she had to give the lead to a drunk girl who probably couldn't even count to ten correctly right now.
The Danger class took a bold step closer to her and puffed up her chest to look intimidating, "I decided to ditch the play. You're the star now. Get dressed, we're live very soon." Before Cana could protest, Lucy almost immediately disappeared from her sight.
Cana opened her jaw in shock. She looked at her alcohol and drink what was left in the bottle. When she noticed no more liquid was left, she sighed. "I need more fucking wine."
Natsu entered the stripper's dress room. He bluntly barged in like he owned the place. The rosy-haired man looked at him and smiled as if without words, saying 'You can do it'. He patted Gray on the back encouragingly, "try not to strip in front of the crowd, kids are here. You got that ice-prick?"
Gray nodded slowly. He should be pumped up right now but felt nothing. He wanted to see Juvia again and talk things out... No needed too... Where was she anyways? She wasn't anywhere near back-stage when he came back, and everybody he asked said they didn't know. He wanted to do nothing else but rush out and find her, but this play stopped him. The raven-haired teen falsely smiled, "of course Natsu..."
This stopped the King of Royals in his tracks. He was depressed right now... "...What's wrong?" he immediately asked. The fire loving teen hated seeing his friend at this state.
"I just want to... see her right now..." he hesitantly spoke. Natsu could clearly see how clouded and lost Gray's eyes were. His face was forcing the smile, "Juvia..." it was the last word he mumbled out before walking out of the room.
He looked so...
Crushed...
Natsu stayed where he was and stared at the ground in bitterness. He couldn't help him... His best friend for goodness sake! He was suffering and all he could do was stand here and watch! Clenching his jaw and fists, he fast-walked out of the room in frustration.
The Danger class knew what she had to do now. The question was how to do it. She needed a ride to the Cherry Blossom park. Lucy always walked home, and she didn't own a car. A bus or taxi was nowhere near, and she couldn't ask anybody here or they would get suspicious. Overwhelmed by nervousness, she didn't notice anything until someone crashed into her.
"Fuck! I'm not in the mood for this!" the owner of the voice who bumped into her hissed.
Lucy got up to her feet again and patted the dust she got on her bottom half. She wasn't in the mood for this either! "Listen you bas-" she paused seeing it was the King of Royals... Again! "Not you again," the Danger class groaned. She wanted to bang her head on a wall endless times.
The Star class gave her a similar look, "I have no time to talk to you right now, and shouldn't you be behind the curtains where you should be getting ready for the play?" he asked bitterly.
"I decided to ditch. What are you doing in such a hurry oh great majesty," she said sarcastically. She needed to find a ride quick. She was losing precious time. She needed to get to Juvia before she moved to who knows where. Maybe the school, or to the strippers house, or maybe to cry out her eyes in a unknown place!
The rosy-haired man glared daggers at her, "none of your business." The teen got up from his butt, "just remember my warning, you got that?" He was about to walk away once again, but then he turned back to face her once more, "have you seen that swimmer girl? The Sky class one with the huge crush on Gray?" he asked raising a brow.
Lucy stood still for a moment. She folded her arms and smirked. "I know where she is. Why?" If this went where she thought this would go, everything would work in her favor. She stood tall and confident, so he wouldn't see her back off and tell him what he wanted easily.
Natsu's eyes widened. He needed that weird girl for Gray. It sucked that the person with her whereabouts was her! Why Danger girl out of all people?! He hated the thought of him needing her help. Every time he was with her, he felt so... He didn't know how he felt!
From the first day they met, when their eyes' first met. He knew she was different. He assumed the reason he always got stiff and nervous was because he unconsciously hated her. He liked talking to her but would never admit it to anyone, so he only communicated with her through insults. He liked how she always fought back for herself and had so much courage. He loved to watch her. She was so brave and courageous.
...
...
IGNORING THAT COMMENT!
He bit his tongue to snap back into reality. He was suppose to hate her! Gray! He had to focus about Gray, DAMN IT! Natsu tightened his jaw and regained himself, "tell me where she is." He ordered with glaring eyes.
The blonde rolled her eyes and rose a brow, "you owe me one. Got it Star class?" she negotiated with a devilish smirk.
Thinking quickly, he agreed. Natsu would have growled and argued more but time was limiting itself. "Whatever, just tell me. I don't have all day."
"Cherry Blossom Park. I overheard two bitches laugh about how they tricked her." Lucy answered quickly.
The rosy-haired teen nodded swiftly. The next thing he did shocked both of them. He grabbed Lucy's wrist gently yet forcefully. A wave of warmth overwhelmed the blonde's body, and Natsu felt a small blush rising on his face. He shuttered, but remained tough, "I'm gonna need your help searching for the Sky Class then. You already told me that you decided to ditch the play, so your free to help. And if you want me to owe you one, you better go all the way." He walked towards the exit with Lucy's wrist still in his grasp.
"Onii-san!" a sweet tone called out. Wendy ran at her older brother with a worrisome face. "What are you doing Natsu onii-san? I know that the teacher threatened you that if you leave, you would be suspended." She panted from the short run. She was adorable and small, but her shortness made her terrible in athletics.
Eyeing Natsu, Lucy secretly smiled with kindness filling it. It really was sweet how he would risk so much to help a friend. Just knowing that, it made her look at him differently even more. He was so strange. Terribly mean to others, yet so kind and protective for the people he cared for so much.
"Do me a favor and cover for me, you can tell the teachers I have mandatory family business to take care of." He rushed out after the words fell out of his mouth with Lucy right behind him.
Wendy looked at him with disbelief, "what?! Natsu onii-chan!" they could hear her groan in stress. Poor Wendy, she is doing so much for him.
Lucy could barely manage to run as fast as the fire lover could, and she was one of the best runners she knew. They ran past the crowd of people outside with frequent pushing and shoves. Receiving several 'hey!'s and 'watch it'.
They made it to their destination which was the parking lot. Natsu sprinted towards a black motorcycle with flame designs on the back and a small dragon's tail mark on the front. He put on a black helmet and tossed Lucy a spare red one. He got on his vehicle and glared at her with an impatient glare. "Get on for goodness sake! I don't have all day!"
Lowly growling, she did as he commanded. The Star Class put the key in, put the motorcycle on neutral, and pulled the kill switch to the START position. He pulled the cluch and pressed the starter button. The engine roared brilliantly. The vehicle started to start and vibrate.
Lucy had to admit this was kind of sexy. Motorcycle, her having to hold onto his waist tightly, and the rush of adrenaline. She was only human! A girl at it too! She wrapped her arms around his waist and waited for him to drive out of the parking lot. They were still in the same spot... When waiting for several minuets, she leaned over and peeked at his face to see he was green and his cheeks were all puffed up. Dropping her jaw, Lucy groaned, "are you kidding me?! You have motion sickness?!" She pushed him off the motorcycle harshly. Lucy got off as well and put her hands on her hips.
Regaining his composure, he got back up from the cement floor and turned red in embarrassment. "Shut up!" he hissed, "I have motion sickness! So what?"
"How did you even get your motorcycle here then?!"
"Wendy always gives me some motion sickness medicine! I can't go back and ask her for some now!"
"You idiot! She was right there! You should have asked her before we left! You are so thick-headed! Can't you think for once?!"
"I'm trying to think right now! Shut your large mouth and let me think of a plan!"
"What are you planning to do now huh?! Everyone is practically busy since the play started! I swear to god you motherfu-"
"You have to drive!"
Lucy stood still, paralyzed. Did he just say the words she thought she heard. "Repeat what you said, I don't think I heard you rig-"
"You. Drive." He simply said it in two easy words.
"I don't know how to drive a motorcycle!"
"You have a better idea?!"
Lucy's face was filled with fury. She opened her mouth to unleash hell, but she shut it when she knew that was the only option "..."
"That's what I thought," he grinned widely, raising his chin in a slightly higher angle to look superior.
The busty blonde growled, "I never rode a motorcycle before. I don't even know anything about it."
Natsu shrugged his shoulder, "we are losing time here. I don't have enough time to teach you how to do it, so just wing it."
Lucy's jaw dropped. She wanted to argue but he was right. She bit her bottom lip and sat on the seat. She firmly grabbed the handles and heared the baby purr. Natsu sat behind her and put his muscular arms around her stomach. If she wasn't his ride, he would probably strangle her right now out of amusement.
Lucy saw on some TV shows how people rode their motorcycles. Most of them died or got injured in a horrible crash but she tried not to think about the result and more on the how they rode it.
Natsu was already weak by the small vibrations the vehicle was giving off. He was so powerless that he tightened his grip and put his head between the space of her shoulder and neck.
She ignored him and focused the the motorcycle. He did all the steps to start it. Now all she had to do was drive... Lucy leaned forward, pulled it out of neutral, and gently floored it.
"Ughhhhhh..." Natsu moaned in pain. He was wobbling left and right from his motion sickness. The rosy haired teen had to grab onto her top waist tighter than before to not be dangling at the end of the vehicle.
Lucy felt her head temperature rise. She groaned and felt herself losing control of the motorcycle, "oh shit!" Lucy yelled as she barely hit a random car
"W-what the hell are you doing?!"
"Shut up and let me drive!"
"Y-you're gonna h-hit those kids! Aim for the pond! Aim for the FUCKING POND!"
"I'm not gonna hit those kids or go to the damn pond! I'm gaining control aga- HOLY SHIT! The tree is in the way!"
"I don't want to fucking die with you!"
"You're not my ideal choice either!"
A man in the car from behind honked his horn in rage, "where did you learn how to drive?!"
Lucy didn't respond kindly, "fuck you! You try driving something you never rode before with the person you hate most grabbing so tight to you that you can barely breath!"
The Star class turned even more green, "f-focus on the damn road! You're gonna hit that elderly women!"
"Why the hell is she just standing in the middle of the road?! Get off the road granny!"
"Y-you j-just ran a red light!"
They could hear a police syrine not too far behind them. Natsu turned to see it was Lahar and Doranbolt closing in. "Police! Slow down your vehicle now!"
Natsu felt like vomiting, "d-don't pullo-over! They're a-already on my ass!"
"I swear to god! Dont you dare throw up on me!" The Danger class had a small panic, "we're not even half way to the park!"
Sorry if I got the motorcycle facts wrong. Hope you like this chapter. It feels rushed, but I think it's decent.
I want to thank AlexuPenguin for making my cover of Radio Fairy. Love it!~~~
