A/N: Apparently, you guys like the twist. And the same time you don't because you don't want them to die. And hey... It's pretty much the anniversary of this fanfic...
DANG... Oh, and... My birthday... August 13th... I may be in highschool, but I feel old.
And in order to vent out my frustration of becoming older, I will make you guys have feels. (Possibly)
"We have five days?" Toon Link asked.
Ike nodded. "Twenty-seventh through the thirty-first. Counting today, which is the twenty-seventh, we have five days."
Ness gulped. "I-I don't... I don't want them to die, Ike..."
"H-Hey, hey! Calm down! Don't worry! We'll save them!" Pit said, putting on his best smile. "W-We just gotta get the ingredients for the antidote. It can't be too difficult."
Ike nodded. "R-Right. I have the list, so let's go."
He bit his lip, looking at the concerned Ness and Toon Link. The younger smashers had fear on their faces; fear and sadness.
Hang on guys. We'll save you.
Pit tilted his head. "...Lum Berry? T-That's from Pokemon."
"Right. We need to head to the Pokemon universe to get that; three to be exact, and five Sitirus. Then we need two Mega Tomatoes and a regular one from the Kirby universe, next some water that comes from a planet in the StarFox world, as well as four 1-Up Mushrooms and a regular one from Mario's world." Ike explained. "...Damn."
"T-The only one that makes sense is the water. We can simply ask for the others." Ness pointed out.
"Yeah, but they can only have so much." Ike replied. "The Ancient Minister already asked them... And they have none."
"Oh." Ness lowered his head, sniffing.
"H-Hey, don't sweat it." Ike stated. "We'll can do it."
Toon Link nodded. "Yeah. We should save the water for last. Let's get the mushrooms first, then the tomatoes, and then the berries."
"Good plan, Toon Link." Pit complimented. "If we work hard and fast enough, we won't even waste a day! Let's go! To the portal-train... thingy..."
He cleared his throat. "L-Let's go! To the Mushroom Kingdom!"
"Alright. Only took us an hour to figure out how to get here. Now, where the heck are those blocks?" Ike muttered.
"Ooh! There's one!" Ness cried, pointed. He ran up to it, and punched the block...
Only for a P-Corn to pop out.
Pit's eye twitched ever so slightly. "...Why?"
Ike exhaled. "L-Let's just punch each block we find an pray we get what we wish for."
The others nodded, and scattered out, but not too far away from each other.
They carried out the plan, punching every block they could find. Toon Link managed to find the regular mushroom, however, it was difficult finding the 1-Ups. For some odd reason, there was a lack in enemies, so they couldn't go on a murderous streak to gain the 1-Ups. The only way they could possibly earn 1-Ups, is by discovering hidden blocks.
Joy.
It was troublesome to find said blocks; troublesome meaning it took them more than an hour to find the rest of the 1-Ups.
Pit let out sigh, sitting down, slightly relieved. "C-Can we get the tomatoes now?"
Ike nodded, looking at the two younger smashers. "Yeah... Let's go."
"...How are we supposed to find tomatoes?" Ness asked. "A-And... W-Why is it getting dark."
"...Damn. Almost the end of the day." Ike hissed. "We better find those tomatoes before it gets too dark. Let's go!"
Agreeing, everyone parted aways, hoping to find a tomato lying around, but had so such luck. They couldn't find the red item, nor could they find anyone to ask where they could retrieve them. The task was becoming more difficult by the second, and the sun was dipping below land, the world becoming darker and cold. Nevertheless, they managed to find the tomatoes they needed. However, it was late. Too dark to fetch the other items.
-Month 2: Day 27 Ends, Month 2: Day 28 Begins-
The minute morning came, and Ike woke up, he got the rest of his party and went off to the Pokemon land to find berries. However, the task was difficult due to random trainers wanting to battle despite them having no Pokemon. They had to explain to the trainers about the situation, and lucky enough, they had hearts, and understood.
As the four tried to find the items, the older ones noticed how quiet the younger ones were.
"...You two okay?" Pit asked.
They nodded.
"Alright." Ike said, exhaling, fully aware of how worried they were. "Let's find those berries. Shouldn't be too hard."
"Okay." Toon Link muttered. "B-But... What if we really fail? A-Are they really going to...?"
Ike bit his lip. "Don't sweat it, man. We'll save them in time. They're only berries. As I said earlier, shouldn't be too hard."
"A-Alright." Ness replied, checking the trees and bushes, Toon Link following.
"Ike, what are we going to do if we fail?" Pit asked.
Ike lowered his head. "I-I... I don't know. I don't know what to say, do... I-I just don't know."
Pit was shaking. "Oh... I hope that we succeed."
"Yeah." Ike said. He sighed. "Jeez. I hope this doesn't happen again."
"We found the berries!"
The two older smashers perked up, seeing the younger ones approach them, berries in their hands.
"Alright. Let's go back to the mansion and take a small break. Took us until lunch to get this done thanks to those trainers." Ike explained.
Ike checked Meta Knight, then Wolf's, forehead.
Both were burning hot.
When he checked up on Pikachu, whose forehead was also burning, he noticed that the blonde was shaking.
Ike let out a sigh. "O-Oh..."
"Uh... Ike?" Ness whimpered. "Th-They're going to be okay... right?"
Ike bit his lip, then nodded. "Yes. Don't worry, bud. They'll be fine. Trust me."
Ness gulped. "O-Okay..."
He twiddles his thumbs. "Th-The Ancient Minister said we should take a long rest today, and handle the water issue tomorrow."
Ike raised an eyebrow, confused. "I-I don't understand that logic, but if he insists."
Ness simply nodded before exiting the room.
As soon as he left, Ike heard a shifting noise.
"...Am I going to die, Ike?"
Pikachu.
"N-No. Y-You're not going to die, Pikachu." He replied. "You can count me."
"Wh-what about the others...?" The blonde asked, voice weak and hoarse.
"They'll live, as well!" Ike stated in the happiest voice he could manage.
"Okay..." Pikachu quietly replied. "Th-Thank you for... Working hard to... help us..."
"N-No problem." Crap. A crack in his voice. "Get some rest now, got it?"
"A-Alright... Y-You're going to save us... Promise me that?"
"Sure, pal."
-Month 2: Day 28 Ends, Month 2: Day 29 Begins-
"So, how are we going to get this water?" Ike asked.
"...We're not getting it." Pit replied. Ike slammed his palms on the table, causing the angel to flinch. "W-We have to take care of the sick. Fox, Falco, and King Dedede were put in charge of getting the water."
Ike growled. "We have to stay behind?!"
Pit nodded. "Toon Link and Ness are still asleep. We just have to wait for their return. I-I know it kinda irritates you, but orders are orders."
"Damn..." Ike muttered, rubbing his head. "I don't wanna stay behind! I promised Pikachu that I'd save them and..."
"And you'll do so by staying behind and notifying anyone if there's a change in his condition!" Pit snapped. "I know you don't wish to stay behind, but you have to! Got it?!"
Ike flinched at the sudden tone in the other one's voice. "...Alright. If that's the case..."
"H-Hey... D-Do we really have to stay?"
The small whimper caused the older smashers to freeze.
"Ness. Toon Link." Pit said gently, kneeling down so that he was facing them. "We have to make sure there's no change in their condition. Others are going to get the water. Some other smashers are getting the remedy ready. You think you can get regular water for our sick friends?"
They nodded. Pit smiled. "Alright."
As soon as they left, the angel sighed. "...I'm afraid. I... I don't want them to die. Not in the condition they're in. If we fail, they won't be able to help the others survive when month three comes forth."
Ike didn't know how to reply to that. "L-Look... Th-They'll live. Trust me."
And the rest of the day went on. Nothing bad happened. The peacekeepers were still very ill, shivering in their beds, barely able to talk. Needless to say, their condition hasn't changed in the slightest. Sure, Pikachu and Yoshi occasionally asked for food, but other than that, nothing really happened. Ness and Toon Link were still worried, Pit and Ike had to calm them down.
No word came from the water-from-another-planet retrievers, and that concerned Pit and Ike. The Ancient Minister was having slight panic attacks, as well. Lucario constantly asked them about Pikachu, Kirby was worried about Meta Knight, and the bros. were wondering about Yoshi. Sadly, no one seemed to care about Wolf...
Nevertheless, the day was tiring, filled with worry, and was not joyful.
-Month 2: Day 29 Ends, Month 2: Day 30 Begins-
Ike yawned as he carefully, and quietly, stepped inside Pikachu's room. "Hey, bud. You doing well?"
No reply, no movement. Ike bit his lip, approaching him. "...P-Pikachu?"
He was breathing heavily, sweat sitting on his forehead, body shivering.
"O-Oh sh-shit!" Ike cried, running out the room.
Pit was pacing around the room as Wolf breathed heavily.
"Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!" He nearly shrieked. "This isn't good. Oh, I should have gave him some food!"
He collapsed to his knees. "I-I..."
He sniffed. "Wh-What am I going to do...?"
"Pit!" Ike slammed the door open. "It's Pikachu!"
"...He isn't doing too well, right?" Pit whimpered.
"...Wolf... D-Did his condition worsen?" Ike asked.
Pit only nodded, sniffling.
"Wh-What about the others?!"
When they entered Meta Knight's room, they discovered Toon Link crying. As expected, and as they hoped not to be the case, his condition worsened.
Same thing appeared to have happened to Yoshi, as Ness was panicking, and the green-head was sweating and shivering.
Ike felt a pang of fear. "What are we going to do?"
A/N: To celebrate the one-year anniversary, I'll end on this cliffhanger.
