Chapter 7: His home is wherever I am

Emma's Apartment

Victoria had brought Emma back inside and now they were both on the living room, sitting on the couch, after Victoria tried to take care of Emma's injuries, but the stab on her leg was something that concerned Victoria, and even if she wrapped few bandages around it, she felt it wasn't enough. So she was trying to make the blondie to go to the hospital. "Emma I don't think those bandages will hold back the bleeding for long, plus it seems to be a deep injury, so you really should go to the hospital."

Emma was with her back leaned against the couch and her injured leg all stretched out over the coffee table and her other one brought up closer to her chest as she sighed out and stared down with her eyes half closed. "I can't. I don't want nurses to be calling the cops." Emma mumbled, not moving much her mouth, because her face still hurt from the punches of Killian and then she cleared her throat, still feeling it sore.

"We just make up some excuse. Like, I don't know, you are a juggler assistant and the knife hit your leg?" Victoria tried to make a joke of it and chuckled to see if it would motivate Emma to be in a better mood too.

Emma was able to laugh about that. "For some odd reason I feel like that would work."

"Of course it would, I got the best ideas, babe." Victoria hair flipped and chuckled again before lean her cheek in her palm. "What else is bothering you?

"Nothing."

"Ems, come on. I know something else is bothering you, and you still didn't explain me why those douches treated you like that."

"They attacked me because of some shit happen back in the university. He got all butt hurt because a girl broke his nose." Emma raised her both eyebrows and then shrug slightly.

"And why would a girl break his nose?" Victoria perked up an eyebrow as she kept staring at Emma; trying her best to keep getting information from her friend, which wasn't easy.

Emma just took a deep breath and pressed her lips together.

"Come on, ems. Tell me."

Emma shook her head and kept staring down.

"You know keeping it inside you won't be good."

Emma closed her eyes and gulped before open them again and feel them more watery than before. "He was talking shit about Regina, so I shut him up."

"I see…" Victoria remained quiet for a couple of seconds but then she felt the need to ask. "And this Regina, what does she actually mean to you?"

"I don't know." Emma quickly replayed as she took another deep breath, trying to hold her tears back. "I seriously don't know." The tears were now falling and her shoulders were shaking. "At Kathryn's party, I overheard Kathryn asking Regina if she still felt I was only her sex toy, and I know I shouldn't care but it bothered me a lot." Her sobs got a bit louder as she gasped for air. "I just don't know." And with that more tears fell.

Victoria frowned slightly and slowly began to wrap her arms around her friend as she brought her closer to her and just held her closer. "It's okay, babe. It's okay." She caressed the blonde's hair and waited for her to calm down.

After crying on Victoria and try to eat a bit of the dinner, Emma went to bed and Victoria would've stayed longer if she didn't had her annoying boyfriend back at her apartment; he'd start with his jealousy and then Victoria would never hear the end of it. – So after Victoria was out and Emma was alone in her apartment, the blonde was simple lying over her bed in the dark as her alarm clock showed it was still 9pm, and Emma was just stuck with her own thoughts and bad memories from the past days.

It all started the very moment Regina stepped in her life, you'd thought it was just another client that probably wouldn't ask you again for another service because of how bitchy she can be and then deal with her terrible marriage life till she dies. But Regina kept Emma's company, of course being her teacher wasn't probably something the both planned, but as much as they tried to stay away, destiny always brought them together.

But what did that got Emma? Nothing but pain. Maybe before on those moments she felt excitement and happiness? But now everything she feels is just pain, and she's so desperate to make it all go away.

But the thought that has been bothering her the most is her son, damn Killian made the memories more vivid in her mind and now she was wondering how her son actually was, it has been eight months since she last saw him, and it was actually her fault to no have him right now by her side.

But how in hell was she supposed to take care of a new born in the fucked up life she had? And here she thought she was starting to fix it again to perhaps be able to get her baby back, but now everything's ruined again, and she misses him so much. Even if he was an accident at the beginning, he was still the best thing that happened in her life; she fell in love the very moment she birthed him, but then they took him away and she was only able to visit him under certain circumstances.

But she needed to see him again, she needed it so much.

Suburbs streets

Emma was walking through the streets, or at least trying to, because her leg was still hurting a lot, and she couldn't walk straight because of it. Plus she was a bit drunk, since on the way she stopped by a bar to drink and to see if she'd pass out and not go through the rest of the plan she had in her mind; but sadly no, and she's still going for it.

Soon she stopped by some door of the one of the beautiful houses and knocked on the door as she quickly began to fix herself, to try look decent.

The person who opened the door was a woman in her mid-40s, and she had a small smile upon her face but when she looked better at Emma that smile slowly vanished. "Emma what are you doing here?" And then she also noticed the bruises Emma had on her body; but she refused to make any comment because she was tired of always wondering what was going on with Emma and never have answers for her questions.

"Well, hello to you too Sarah." Emma cleared her throat as she rolled her shoulders. Facing Sarah Fisher was always a big deal to Emma, why? Because this woman was the one who kept her son.

"What do you want?" Sarah folded her arms as she remained the door still half closed. "If you are here because of Hen-" Before Sarah could finish her words, she was pushed aside because of Emma's strong push.

The blonde younger woman stepped inside the house and rushed through the hallways to find her son.

"Emma! Get back here!" Sarah shouted as she went quickly after the blondie. "Are you out of your mind? Have you been drinking?!"

Emma still kept her clumsy rushed steps, trying to ignore the enormous pain that was forming on her leg. When she open a door, it was the baby's room, it was Henry's room, and there was her son, playing in his crib with some stuffed animal. "Oh my god…" Emma's lips began to shiver as she felt tears coming to her eyes again. "Henry, hii.." She spoke as she looked down at the one year old son and even used the sign language as he watched her. Yes, the little boy who seemed perfectly healthy was actually deaf.

"Emma!" Sarah shouted again as she rushed into Henry's room and there was Emma now holding her son in her arms, rocking him slightly and kissing his head over and over, Henry didn't mind because he was still holding tightly onto his stuffed animal and watching Emma. He probably felt there was something familiar about her and maybe that's why he wasn't crying.

"I am taking him back home." Emma told Sarah as she held Henry with her left arm and grabbed the baby bag with her right hand, as she just threw Henry's stuff inside it.

"What you mean back home? His home is here, Emma." Sarah was doing her best to not shout again, but she was really starting to get angry, and if Emma didn't leave now, the worst would come.

"It's not! He's MY son, his home is wherever I am." Emma held Henry even more tightly against her chest.

"Emma you aren't able to take care of Henry. Not now, we discussed this!" Sarah tried to call out for Emma's sane side, but the blonde was really lost. "You are drunk, Emma. You are beaten up for god's sake! You can't take care of Henry like that. So give him back to me and then we discuss this, calmly, like two grown-ups."

Emma stared at Sarah horrified, obviously showing her that she wasn't thinking straight. "No! I am tired of taking things calmly! I am tired of pretending this is all okay because it's not! He's my son and as his mother he belongs to me not to you! I will not have him to go through bunch of foster families like happened to me."

"He will not be in foster care system, Emma! He will be adopted; he will be fine; he will be in a happy family and healthy. But in order for that to happen you need to help too. So please put him back in the crib and leave." Sarah took a deep breath and swallowed, hoping these words didn't ruin everything.

"I don't want him to be adopted! I don't want him to have another family! He just needs me!" And tears fell and baby loud cries were now clear; because even if Henry was deaf he probably could feel the tense atmosphere or how fast Emma's heart beat or how tight she was holding him to her.

"You are scaring, Emma. Just calm down, put him back in his crib and leave."

Emma stared down at Henry who was crying loudly in her arms and she was just rocking him. "Hey, hey, don't cry. Don't be scared of me, I am your mother." She sniffed as his cries just kept getting louder and he struggled in her arms. "Hey, come on, I am your mommy." Emma was basically begging her little child to stop crying and just love her.

"Emma put him back in the cri-" Before Sarah could finish her words, the sirens of the police cars began to sound right outside of the house.

Emma quickly changed her view back to Sarah as she stared her with a very betrayed and angry look. "What did you do?"

"I called the police, Emma. You need help." Sarah gulped as her eyes kept going back and forth between Henry and Emma.

"What…" Emma mumbled as the two police men just invaded the room as well and aimed their guns at her.

"Put the baby down!" One of them yelled.

Emma stared at everybody in the room and while her mind was racing, she still did what she was asked for. She turned around and placed Henry back slowly in his crib, he was still crying, but it was way lower.

"Turn around and put your hands in the air!"

Emma turned around and raised her hands as they told her to and then they quickly rushed to her, gripped tightly onto her wrists and brought them to her back as they put the handcuffs. After that, they just began to bring her out of the room and out of the house, into the police car, before drive off the police station.

Emma couldn't believe in the big mess she just got herself into, but after all this, her head was about to explode, she had a huge headache and she wasn't even reacting to anything.

Three days later – Police Station

"Emma Swan! You can go make your call." One guard said as he open the cell where Emma has been staying for at least three days; she was lucky enough to still stay there and not go to the prison.

"Thanks." Emma mumbled as now she was actually using crutches, when the cops brought her in, they realized her leg injury was pretty bad, so they made her spend the first night at the hospital and then brought her back to spend the rest two days in here.

Now with her injuries better taken care of, the pain was particularly gone and these two days were kind of enough to make her get her thoughts straight, and make sure she wouldn't have another break down like before. Plus she got very lucky Sarah Fisher wouldn't press any charges.

"There you go. Five minutes, one number." And with that the guard went to the rest of his duty.

Emma nodded and began to think who she should call. She feared if she called Victoria, her friend would be very high and since this was only one number call, she couldn't risk such thing; plus Victoria isn't fan of the cops, obviously. So she had to think about somebody else to call, and the second person that showed in her mind was Ruby, but the tall redhead young woman was probably still very upset at her; she still didn't said a single word to Ruby since they argued, so calling Ruby wasn't the right thing either.

Then she thought about Regina, but there was no way she'd call the brunette woman to tell her she was in the police station and she needed her to pay her bail and later on she'd pay back. So calling Regina wasn't the right thing to do as well.

So the only person left was actually Kathryn. Yes, Kathryn was her salvation right now.

Kathryn's Home

"Oh my god, Regina! He's so damn adorable!" Kathryn basically fangirled as she just made faces to the one year old baby that was sitting on the couch and nomming on those chewing toys; he already had two teeth on the bottom.

Regina bit down on her lower lip as she watched the little boy with a big smile. "Yes, he is."

"So he is actually deaf?" Kathryn asked, as she rubbed his tiny feet.

"Yes, but not for long. He has an appointment next week; so we can see which device is better for him." Regina replayed as she passed her hand softly over his brown short hair.

"That's good then." Kathryn smiled again as she squeezed the little feet. "You know what the good thing about this is? Is that you can say how many curses you want and he will never learn them."

As much as Regina wanted to just swat Kathryn and not let her know she was funny, Regina just chuckled anyway and shook her head. "I am not a bad mouth, Kathryn. You know that."

"Right! Because Regina Mills never curses!" Kathryn made a face and put sarcasm into her words as she brought herself up, before sit down on the couch besides the baby.

"Of course not." Regina picked up the little one and brought him to her lap. "Just like Henry Mills shall never curse either." Regina smiled as she moved her leg up and down while watching her son, look up at them with a smile but not making much noise. He was a quiet baby when it came to make simple noises, but when it was for cry, he could be very loud, and his cries could last for a while.

"Henry Mills, ain't that a pretty name." Kathryn poked his nose. "So I guess no 'Humbert' in his name?" Kathryn perked up an eyebrow as she looked up at her friend.

"No, and that's a horrible name. Thank god I never put it on mine." Regina rolled her eyes as she held Henry on her lap, still. "Graham agreed with the adoption, and on the papers it says he's the adoptive father, but that was it. He doesn't seem much interested with Henry, and I don't want somebody to be around my son and be forced to love him."

Kathryn leaned back and folded her arms as she nodded to Regina's words. "Graham is becoming way more douche than usual, Regina. You know I hate to be a home wrecker, but do you really want him in your life forever?"

Regina sighed out and pressed her lips together. Now Kathryn made her think a lot; of course she didn't want Graham for the rest of her life, not after whatever wrong he has been doing so far; but in order to have a normal family for Henry, Graham needs to be there. "Of course I don't want to, he screws up everything; but a male figure in Henry's life may be good..."

"Oh please, Regina! You never cared about that." Kathryn even chuckled at how ridiculous her friend was sounding right now. "I remember before you told me if when you were thirty and you were still single, you'd have a child anyway and you wouldn't need any man. Now you are worrying about that?"

"Yeah…I guess you are right." Regina tilted her head to the side as she stared down at Henry.

"And if you ever feel lonely, you know you are never alone." Kathryn smiled at Regina.

"Thank you, Kathryn." Regina looked up at Kathryn and smiled back.

"My pleasure! And-" Before Kathryn could finish her words her phone began to ring and when she went to see the number, she didn't recognized. "I hate picking up these calls." Kathryn frowned and made a face. "Let's take this together and if it's a prank we get shit right!" Kathryn chuckled as she picked up the call and then put in speaker phone.

Regina just shook her head at Kathryn's words while she kept making Henry have his fun over her leg.

"Kathryn? This is Emma."

And with these words, the both women went dead silence as they just stared at each other before look back at the phone.

"Kathryn? Are you there?"

Regina nudged Kathryn's shoulder making her snap out of it and just talk. There was no way Regina was going to talk and she was curious why Emma would be calling Kathryn. Was she calling for? No, couldn't be, Emma didn't call the clients; it was the other way around, dummy Regina.

"Y-Yeah! Sorry about that. What's up?"

"Well, I know this will sound incredible weird and I don't want you to freak out…. I wanted to know if you could.."

Regina closed her eyes and felt herself not breathing at all; this was it..

"If you could bail me out of the police station."

And then the breath was back but she was more worried than ever. Why was Emma in the police station?

"Wh- What?" Even Kathryn was caught off guard with that one.

"Yeah, I know, I know. Don't freak out please, I just need someone to bail me out and then pick me up. I promise you I will pay as soon as I can!"

"Yeah, sure, no problem Emma. But…what did you do?" Kathryn asked as she looked at Regina from the corner of her eye.

"Well I…I got drunk and I invaded somebody's house, thinking it was my friend's house. Yeah, silly me."

"Are you serious?" Kathryn raised her both eyebrows as she stared down at the phone.

"Yes, I am. I know it sounds stupid, that's why I didn't want to say it! But can you please help me out?"

"Yes, it does sound pretty silly; but no problem, Emma. I'll be there soon, okay?"

"Yeah, thank you very much."

"No problem, see ya-"

"Wait! I wanted to know if you have been with Regina lately?"

They could hear some care in Emma's voice, and Kathryn looked at Regina, basically asking the brunette what she should say with her eyes.

Regina just mouthed Kathryn to say no, but Kathryn was completely lost to whatever Regina was mouthing, so she just said the truth.

"Yes, yes I have."

Regina quickly shook her head and then huffed out with a roll of her eyes.

"Was she okay when you saw her?"

Kathryn frowned slightly. "Yes, she was?" She really didn't know how to answer that.

"That's good? I just wanted to know if she was fine. Last time I saw her, things weren't so good, and I feel like I acted like a total douchebag and drama queen on her, sooo…If you see her again just say I am sorry, okay? Gotta go now!"

And before Kathryn could say anything else, the call ended, and she simple stared at Regina while biting her lip. "Soo…that was something…"

Regina frowned and then looked up at the ceiling as she was trying to see what she should do now. "To be honest, I thought she wouldn't care about me after what happen."

"You know that's not Emma, Regina. She still cares even if you harassed her." Kathryn shrugged.

"I did not harass her! I just…didn't know what to do, and kissing her at that moment seemed the best idea that came in my mind, okay?" Regina huffed out in frustration as she looked back down at her son.

"Yeah, sorry. It's not your fault, though." Kathryn rubbed her shoulder as she looked at Henry, since Regina was dead silence for few seconds.

Then the brunette had an idea. "Can you take care of Henry?" Regina looked up at Kathryn as she frowned slightly.

Kathryn looked up at Regina and then down at Henry, wondering why Regina was asking her that, but then she slowly began to put two together. "Oh yes, sure, I can." Kathryn reached out for the baby and then brought him to her lap as Regina quickly stood up and put the baby bag on the spot she was sitting down.

"Okay, its midday, he eats in an hour; and if I am not home before the evening, his afternoon nap is usually at three or four. If anything happens, just call me, okay?" Regina leaned down as she pecked her son's forehead and caressed his cheek as she looked at him with a smile nobody thought Regina was able to give. She was only one day and half with him and now she had to be away; she just wanted to spend 24/7 time with him, so he'd get used to her.

"Yes, just go do whatcha gotta do and hurry!" Kathryn swatted Regina's thigh as she watched her friend leaving. – Then she looked down at Henry who just threw the chewing toy at the ground. "Let's just hope that's not your favorite game, little man."

Police Station

"Emma Swan, your friend already paid your bail, you are free to go!" The guard spoke as he unlocked the cell and allowed Emma to slowly walk out of it with the help of the crutches.

"Thanks, Brian." Emma told the guard with a smile, she already knew him. – Then she went straight to the secretary where she knew it had her belongings. She wasn't new to this police station; in fact she spent most of the days talking with the guards, because they basically become some kind of buddies to Emma, but would give her a shake every time she done something wrong.

"Here's your stuff, Emma." The woman that stayed behind the desk simple began to put Emma's wallet, belt, and necklace over the desk, passing it to Emma.

"Thank you, Brenda. How's Sophie lately?" Emma asked with a smile as she put her wallet on the back pocket of her jeans and then put on her belt, before put on her necklace as well.

"Oh, she's wonderful! She's going to go to fifth grade this year, and she's all nervous because of the new school and all; but still very excited to learn new stuff." Brenda answered with a smile as she checked Emma's papers.

"That's pretty good!" Emma smiled down at Brenda as the guard woman passed few papers for her to sign it. "I miss that muffin. Would you mind if one day I pass by and play soccer with her or something?"

"Sure, no problem. I believe she will be happy to see you again." Brenda took the papers back after Emma signed them. "Now you are off to go, blondie. Don't get yourself in this kind of mess again!"

"I won't! I promise." Emma smiled back at Brenda and grabbed her crutches as she began to move away and by the door there was the person who bailed her out, which she thought it would be Kathryn, right there, waiting for her, but it wasn't.

"Regina…"
