Chapter 9: Little Henry

Regina's Mansion

The very moment Regina pulled over in front of her mansion to helping Emma bringing her stuff into the house, the blonde still didn't close her mouth, she was amazed by the luxury; of course she knew that Regina probably had some fancy house, but she never thought it'd be a mansion! An awesome mansion. "I feel like whatever I touch is going to break." Emma mumbled as she kept staring at the inside.

"Dear, I hope you are not that clumsy, so I trust you enough to not break that five thousand vase right beside you." Regina said to Emma as she looked over the blonde.

"A what?" Emma quickly reacted as she jumped to the other side so she could be away from anything that was expensive and remained quietly in the middle of the entrance.

Regina couldn't help but to chuckle as she watched the quick reaction of Emma. "I am joking dear; the vase is only two thousand."

"Of course it is; more money than I actually waste in three months."

"Emma?" Somebody else's voice called out for the blonde young woman and Emma quickly guessed who it was.

"Kathryn?" Emma replayed; she didn't felt like going into the house without having Regina go first was polite.

"Eep! Emma!" Now the other blonde woman jumped into Emma's view and yelped in excitement as she threw her arms around Emma and squeezed her into a big hug.

"Kathryn, don't!" Regina tried to stop her friend but it was already too late.

And Emma made a small groan, to show she was in pain. It wasn't Kathryn's fault, so Emma tried to not make such big deal about it, even though it was really painful.

"Oh my god, I am sorry!" Kathryn quickly jumped back and stopped touching Emma; she had no idea Emma was in this bad shape.

"Nah, don't worry girl, its fine." Emma smiled at Kathryn and shrugged as she supported most of her weight on her crutches now.

Regina now felt like something was totally missing, if Kathryn was here, empty handed and alone, where was Henry? That's when she saw her little son crawling on the ground behind Kathryn and heading to everybody. "Hii sweetheart." Regina's voice quickly turned into a very soft one and calm, as she bent down and picked her son up.

The first thing that caught Emma's attention was Regina's tone, it was so different and it was so good to hear it but whenever she looked at the brunette, she finally saw how this Henry actually looked like, and it was her own child…

Regina held Henry to her left hip and kissed his forehead while hugging him tightly. Henry simple laughed and placed his tiny hands over Regina's chest to keep himself steady and closer to her.

Emma was starting to freak out; she was turning pale and clearly shocked.

"Emma, are you alright?" Kathryn asked as she perked up an eyebrow.

Regina frowned slightly and looked up at Emma wondering what was wrong with the blonde girl. "What's wrong?"

Emma snapped out of it and quickly cleared her throat as she gripped onto her crutches. "Huh, nothing…can…can I use your bathroom?" Emma tried to not stutter.

"Yes of course; its upstairs the second door on the right." Regina replayed.

Emma nodded and quickly went upstairs, even with the crutches she was able to hurry up; she wasn't even sure where did she gained the skills to walk up stairs so fast with the damn annoying crutches.

Regina stepped forward, wondering if Emma needed help but the blonde was already gone. Both Kathryn and Regina stared at each other, showing confusion and also worry about Emma. "Take care of him for a minute, please." Regina said to Kathryn as she placed Henry on her friend's arms carefully before go upstairs to find Emma.

Emma quickly shut herself in the bathroom and she even wanted to lock herself in but there were no keys on the locker, maybe Regina had already removed them because of Henry, even though he was still recently one year old and all he could do was just make noises and make mess on his own way. – Of course Henry was now part of Regina's life…Regina had adopted her son, with so many children out there, why did Regina adopted her child?! Did she know anything? Did somebody tell her something? Did she searched Emma's past and now is trying to fix her or what?!

Regina knocked on the bathroom door and called out. "Emma, are you okay?"

Regina's voice made Emma quickly snap out of the anger thoughts she was having, she clenched her hands and took a deep breath. "I am fine." It was her only replay before turn on the water from the sink and start washing her face to calm herself down.

"Are you sure? Are you in pain? Because the female police officer actually gave me the receipt of the medicine you should be taking right now and I can go buy it right now for you." Regina let Emma known and she actually wanted to go buy the medicine before even coming back home, but she was so distracted with facing Killian and then having Emma living with her? Of course she forgot about the meds.

After washing her face and taking few several deep breaths, Emma's mind was calm again and she was being rational again, there was no way Regina would know that Henry was her child, she didn't sound like it before in the car; but Emma was still angry that Sarah Fisher decided to still give her son to adoption, she promised Emma that she'd take care of him while Emma would go fix her life and whenever she was able to put Henry back in it and take care of him on her own, everything would be fine; but still Sarah took him away and gave him up. "No, no need, I am fine." Emma quickly replayed as she turned around to grab her crutches but all she did was just make them fall on the ground, and she simple let out a groan of frustration.

"Emma…" Regina felt quickly worried after hearing those sounds so she open the door anyway, not caring anymore about giving the blonde privacy, she needed to know what the hell was wrong with Emma. – And all she saw was the blonde trying to bend over without doing much damage to herself to pick up the crutches, so Regina quickly approached her and picked up the crutches for her. "Here."

"Thanks." Emma pressed her lips together and took the crutches from Regina's hands as she fixed them back into her own.

Regina watched Emma closely and noticed how the blonde was trying to void eye contact, Regina reached out her hand to touch Emma's cheek and even though the blonde turned her head even more away, Regina was still able to place her palm over Emma's cheek and make her look at her. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing…" Emma mumbled as she stared down into Regina's brown eyes to try find some excuse that would let Regina drop it. "It's just…I felt dizzy all of sudden." Emma shrugged, using her state would let Regina believe her, after all she went through it was normal feeling dizzy right?

Regina tried to search the truth in Emma's eyes and she could tell there was something else about it, but she decided to not go further and figure out it was only the pain; maybe she might ask Kathryn to stay a little longer with Henry so Regina can leave and go buy the medicine for Emma.

Since Regina remained quiet and still with that constant stare, Emma decided to say something else. "So what about we go see little Henry?" Emma smiled and moved away from Regina's touch and opened the bathroom door to let her out first.

"Yes, let's go." Regina smiled at Emma and they both went downstairs to find that Kathryn now was in the living room with little Henry on her arms, rocking him slightly while he was chewing on one of his toys.

"Oh Regina, I really have to go now. My mother's driving me crazy with all this calls and all she needs is just somebody to tell her how to make an essay on the laptop." Kathryn rolled her eyes with a huff as she approached Regina and placed Henry in her arms, then she pecked her friend's cheek and went up to Emma to do the same thing. "Take care, Emma. I'd try be here so I could occupy the guest room, making you sleep with Regina, but gosh my mother won't leave me alone." Kathryn rolled her eyes as she got her purse.

"Kathryn." Regina remained with a not much amused expression on as she heard her friend's suppose plan for the night.

"What? Somebody gotta push you do the right thing, woman. You don't know how to do it on your own." Kathryn chuckled at her bestie before look at Emma and wink at her.

"Kathryn!" Regina gasped as she watched her friend quickly leaving.

"Gotta go, bye! Love y'all!" And with that she was gone.

Regina huffed out like she was exhausted and looked down at her son who was leaning his head into Regina's chest and half closing his eyes.

Emma perked up an eyebrow and looked at the door where Kathryn just closed and back at Regina. "You know, she's fun."

Regina looked up at Emma and narrowed her eyes at her; like she was trying to hurt her just with stare, because that's the only thing she could do without harming the poor girl.

"What? She is!" Emma chuckled at the end before press her lips together, trying to not enjoy it too much.

"Miss Swan for your safety you should shut up if you don't want another bruise." Regina went back to her bitch mode but only to mess around with Emma.

"Yes, prof." Emma quickly replayed.

Regina rolled her eyes with a smirk. "Anyway, I am going to lay down Henry, he seems tired. While he's asleep, I will leave for few minutes to get you, your medicine, okay?" Regina looked over her shoulder at Emma.

"Regina, you don't have to." Emma frowned slightly.

"But I want to."

"Yeah, but you don't have to. I can buy them myself."

"I know you can, but I need you to be here to take care of Henry."

"No, you stay, I go."

"Emma, you can't drive like that, and there's no way I am going to let you go in a bus at 8pm with your injuries."

"Ugh, come on."

"No."

"But I can do it!"

"You can complain like an infant as much as you want, Miss Swan, but no is no." And with that Regina was already going upstairs with Henry on her arms to place him in his crib.

Emma just began to mumble under her breath and went up to the couch so she could rest her body.

In couple of minutes Regina was back down and picking up her keys and purse. "I won't be long, I doubt Henry wakes up, but if he does, there's a bottle of milk in the kitchen, all you gotta do is just warm it up, okay?"

Emma laid her head back on the edge of the couch and looked up at Regina. "Sure."

Regina stared down at Emma and found her super adorable just like that, so she couldn't hide the small smile that appeared over her face. She approached the blonde and tilted her head to reach Emma's, and pecked her forehead in a loving manner before pull her head back and head to the door.

Emma kind of blushed whenever she felt Regina's awesome lips against her forehead, even though she wanted those lips on hers, but oh well, gotta be happy with what you have, right? – So she just watched the lovely brunette leaving the house from behind, and maybe Emma was just enjoying a bit way too much the way Regina moved her body; but nobody could judge her, that woman had an amazing body.

While Regina was gone, Emma simple stared at the celling till she figured out how to turn on the TV and began to watch some Ridiculousness that made her laugh time to time and make her forget the constant pain in her ribs; but then something else caught her attention, it was sounds; first started like sobs, then whimpers, and then loud cries. It was Henry crying, the little child probably woke up hungry. Emma cleared her throat and pushed herself up with the help of her crutches as she started going upstairs the cries just got louder and louder. But then she finally reached the baby's room by following the sound of his cries and when she turned on the light, she saw her child on a beautiful blue wooden crib; she walked up to it and leaned her crutches against it and picked up little crying Henry. "Hey, hey calm down now, I am here."

Henry calmed down on Emma arms at least now he was just whimpering and sucking on his thumb.

"Yeah little man, you hungry? Let's go get your milk." Emma held Henry against her hip, extremely glad he was big enough to know how to hold his own body against her and she could hold him with just one arm, so she had a free hand to use the crutch.

But her biggest challenge was the chairs now; she stared down at them and took a deep breath. "Well, let's see how we going to do this Henry." Slowly Emma managed to get down, with a big struggle and even supporting a bit of her height on the injured leg; but it was all worth it to bring the still hungry, grumpy baby down to the kitchen. – The rest was easy and in few minutes she was back in the living room with Henry laying on her arm and legs as she was now feeding him with the bottle and the little boy would time to time hold the bottle on his own while having his eyes fixed to the TV.

Emma was having fun with the show but now she was having more fun watching how Henry reacted to stuff and how he acted while eating; and gosh it was such loving feeling watching him just feed him. This was what she was missing, she was missing the golden years of his life, those years where she can see how he develops into a big man; she knew right now she should be freaking out since Regina is the one living with her son now, she adopted him, there's no way Emma will get him back, but she can't freak out, not right now, she's loving this moment and adoring Henry even more.

Maybe this was destiny, maybe it was meant to be to know Regina, to go through this entire struggle and have Regina adopt her child to finally see him again be able to hold him like this one more time, and she hopes she will have more moments like this.

And then Regina was finally back, Emma turned her head around to see Regina walk inside with a small bag from the pharmacy and removing her coat. "I am back. Did Henry wake up?" Regina asked but then she already got her answer by seeing her son lying over Emma's legs, holding one of his foot with his hand and using the other hand to hold the bottle with Emma's hand as well; and he was watching TV? Regina wrinkled her nose when she saw what they were watching; of course it was something Emma would like, seeing silly people getting themselves hurt by something that totally wouldn't work. "Why's my son watching stupid people getting themselves hurt?"

Emma gasped. "Regina! It's not stupid; it's a way of teaching him to not do this kind of stuff, because it's painful." She was only messing around with the brunette.

Regina rolled her eyes and approached them as she placed the bag over the coffee table in front of the couch and sat down besides Emma where her son's head was resting so she made sure to lift up his head and get super close to Emma, making Henry's body be over their both laps. "Hey baby." Regina was once again with that soft, calming tone as she poked Henry's nose and Emma had already movted the bottle away because he quickly stopped sucking on it the very moment he saw Regina, so he just began to chuckle and stretch out his tiny hands to her. "Yes lovely, mommy's here." Regina smiled tenderly down at him.

Emma was watching Regina interacting with Henry and it was the most adorable thing ever, she couldn't believe the harsh teacher Regina was at school, was now acting like a super caring, loving innocent person; but that only showed that she really loved Henry and that's all Emma could wish if Regina actually adopted her son. But if Regina didn't really know Emma was the biological mother, would it be wrong if Emma told her? Would Regina even want to know who the biological mother is? Would she let Emma still stay after knowing the truth? Emma couldn't take that risk, she was enjoying this, she was enjoying having Regina this close, having Henry chuckling over their laps while Regina interacted with him, this was everything she could ask for so there was no way she was going to let this disappear.

"Ok, let's watch something more educational, shall we?" Regina said as she searched around for the remote and saw it on the other side of Emma's legs, so she was going to reach for it if the blonde didn't quickly picked it up first.

"Nah-ah!" Emma quickly said as she kept the remote away and high from Regina.

"We are not going to watch this, Emma." Regina frowned as she folded her arms.

"Why not? It's fun." Emma now pouted like a little child.

"It's ridiculous."

"That's the point! That's why the show is called Ridiculousness." Emma pointed at the TV as now Regina was able to read the title of the show.

Regina just gave Emma a face like 'are you for real?' while Emma simple smiled in victory.

"Fine, but only till he falls asleep, then we either go to sleep or watch something way better than this."

"Okay, promise." Emma kept her smile and placed the remote back down as she noticed how Henry was watching them with a serious expression on but then she decided to go tickle his belly which made him look up at her and now he just began to laugh and making his loud yelping noises, because the boy was kind of late with the talking, he still didn't say his first words, which is awesome for Regina, it means she can hear his first words saying 'mommy', but also she doesn't want him to have late development on learning stuff. But that would be Regina's worries; all Emma would care about is just having fun with him.
