Night was quickly approaching the ninjas and civilians of Konoha. While most children were being put to bed, one pink haired child was wide awake.

She was running away from home.

She packed a suitcase and a back-pack full of things she really needed, such as food, water, a thick blanket and some clothes, plus a decent amount of money. She'd been saving money for a few years to move out. But she'd have to live with her step father until she was 16, and she couldn't wait any longer, the abuse was killing her.

With suitcase in hand and a heavy sweater on, she opens up her window. Fortunately, her room was on the first floor, so there wasn't much of a drop. The pink haired girl drops her suitcase before jumping down. She lands on both feet carefully, grabs her luggage, and leaves. The streets were dead silent, save for the drunks and occasional ninja. The little girl had no clue where to go. Her green eyes eyed a bar that was close to her. She fastened her pace and kept walking by, not trying to draw any attention.

"Hey there sweetheart. Wanna go for a ride?" An older man, obviously drunk, slurred. The girl grimaced and almost started running. She spots another man and they lock eyes. He smirks and starts running at her. Eyes wide and heart beating fast she runs for it, suitcase gripped tightly in her hand. Other men run out of alleys and try to catch her. Suddenly, one of the five men grunted and dropped to the ground, causing the other four to stop. Another two dropped harshly, shuriken in their heads.

It's a ninja.

The last of the group was disposed of. She searches around frantically, wanting to thank the ninja who saved her.

"H-hello?" She nervously shouts. A tall man walks out of the shadows, surprising her.

"Konbanwa." He bows.

"Konbanwa, ninja-san." She bows awkwardly.

The child takes in her savior. White unruly hair, some type of ninja attire, and a mask taking shape of a dog's head. It also has a really cool design on it that she enjoys.

"Are you alright? Did they hurt you?" He steps a bit closer to the child. She shakes her head.

"No."

"What's your name?"

"Haruno S-Sakura." She stutters nervously. He steps even closer to her, making her uncomfortable. Eyeing her bags he says,

"What's with those, are you going back home?" She shakes her head.

"Then what are you doing?"

"It's none of your business. Thank you for saving me, but I'll be on my way now. Sayōnara!" She stumbles off, her suitcase bumping a few rocks on the dirt road. He leaves her at that, and she stalks off further down the road. She reaches an enormous field and lays the blanket she brought on the grass. Sakura lays down on said blanket and curls into a ball, wrapping herself as much as she can with the blanket and her sweater.

When she woke up, she wasn't outside laying on her comfy blanket, nor was she at home in her own bed. In fact, she was laying in somebody else's bed. Her eyes widen, terrified. Sakura crawls out of the bed and quietly goes to the door. She sneaks into the kitchen and hides beside the fridge, peering around it into the living room. On the couch was a body, arms and legs draped over the arms of it. The body stirred slightly, making Sakura uneasy. She crawls quietly to the back of the couch, adrenaline pumping and heart racing loudly in her ears. She takes a quick look at the person.

It's the ninja from last night.

Suddenly his eyes snap open. She gets lost in his eyes.

One's black and the other's red...

Sakura becomes overwhelmed with fear. What if he kills her?

But he's one of our ninjas. At least, that's what his hitai-ate says. Maybe he's an undercover spy?

"N-nani?" He asks hoarsely. Sakura snaps out of her daze and yelps, jumping behind the couch. He sits up and leans over to grab her. Gently, he picks Sakura up and plops her right beside him.

"Don't freak out, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to protect you- being a ninja and all." He says sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.

"Okay ninja-san."

"My name is Hatake Kakashi." He smiles at her.

"Hatake-san." He raises an eyebrow.

"Just call me Kakashi. Hatake-san makes me feel old." He frowns, pouting childishly. Sakura grins cutely.

"Okay Kashi-san." He blushes, red peeking through his mask slightly.

"Could you tell me why you were out that late last night?" Sakura stays silent. He sighs.

"Please Sakura?"

"I was running away from home." She snaps. Kakashi's taken aback. "My step-dad was..." Her head drops. "He's an alcoholic. Sometimes he didn't know what he was doing." He looks at her sympathetically.

"H-he... raped me a few times."

"How many is a few?"

"Twelve times."

"Anything else?" She glares at him.

"Rape isn't enough?" She snaps. Kakashi shakes his head.

"No! That's not what I mea-"

"He abuses me," She cuts him off. "He hits me, kicks me, and fucks me." He averts her gaze and stares at the floor instead.

"I should get going. Thank you for your.. help." She finishes coldly. Standing up, she goes back to the bedroom she stayed in the night before and packs up her suitcase. Seconds later, Kakashi hears the front door slam shut.

And she's gone.
