Kakashi notices a bunch of drunk civilian men running down an alleyway in the same direction and his first thought is, there's a fight. Naturally, he follows along to see if he's right or not and to stop it if he was. He travels by tree and rooftop until he finds where the commotion started. A pink haired girl was being swarmed by older men. He doesn't hesitate to embed shurikens into any of the drunk mens heads.
"H-hello?" The pink haired girl shouts nervously. Kakashi steps out from the shadows casted by a nearby building.
"Konbanwa." He bows.
"Konbanwa, ninja-san." She bows awkwardly.
"Are you alright? Did they hurt you?" He steps a bit closer to the child. She shakes her head.
"No."
"What's your name?"
"Haruno S-Sakura." She stutters nervously. He steps a little closer to her. Eyeing her bags he says,
"What's with those, are you going back home?" She shakes her head.
"Then what are you doing?"
"It's none of your business. Thank you for saving me, but I'll be on my way now. Sayōnara!" She stumbles off, her suitcase bumping a few rocks on the dirt road. Kakashi walks the other way, heading to a bar himself.
It wasn't until he was only slightly stumbling down the road that he saw the pink haired girl from earlier. She was curled up in a blanket on a grassy field. Kakashi, in his drunken and confused state walks over to her. He picks her up thinking, I can't let her get a cold out here, and brings her back to his house instead of to the Hokage. It all made sense to him at the time. He lays her down in his bed and takes her shoes and socks off. He gently lifts the blanket up to her chin and kisses her forehead.
Why did I do that? He thought to himself. He leaves the room after turning the light off and leaves the door open just an inch. Kakashi heads to his living room and lays down on the couch, grabbing Icha Icha Paradise off of his coffee table and starts reading where he left off.
Kakashi wakes suddenly, noticing another presence in the room.
"N-nani?" He asks hoarsely. Sakura yelps and jumps behind the couch. He sits up and leans over to grab her. Gently, he picks her up and plops her right beside him.
"Don't freak out, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to protect you- being a ninja and all." He says sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
"Okay ninja-san."
"My name is Hatake Kakashi." He smiles at her.
"Hatake-san." He raises an eyebrow.
"Just call me Kakashi. Hatake-san makes me feel old." He frowns, pouting childishly. Sakura grins cutely.
"Okay Kashi-san." He blushes, red peeking through his mask slightly.
"He abuses me. He hits me, kicks me, and fucks me." Kakashi averts Sakura's gaze and stares at the floor instead.
"I should get going. Thank you for your.. help." She finishes coldly. Standing up, she goes back to the bedroom she stayed in the night before. Seconds later, Kakashi hears the front door slam shut.
And she's gone.
He fucked up. She ran away from home and he just let her leave. He starts to think about what her dad might do to her for doing such a thing. Kakashi becomes angry quickly thinking about Sakura's father. He didn't deserve that title. He's scum in Kakashi's eyes.
He rushes out the door after her.
"Sakura, wait!" The pink haired girl stops and turns around. Kakashi catches up to her. "Let me help you find a better place to live. I don't want you going back there, to your dad or out on the streets of Konoha. I won't always be there to save you like I did last night. Or any other ninjas for that matter." She stares at him for what feels like a very long time.
"Help me find a better place to live?" She asks. Kakashi nods.
"How old are you Sakura?"
"Thirteen."
"Do you have any money?" She nods. "I can help you out with money so you can afford your own apartment, if you'd like?" She gives a small smile and nods.
"Thank you Kashi-kun."
"You're welcome Sakura-chan. You can spend the night here again if you'd like."
"I'd like that, thanks." Sakura moves to the couch but Kakashi quickly pushes her towards his bedroom.
"You can stay there again." She smiles gratefully and hugs Kakashi, kissing his cheek. He blushes.
"Good night, Kashi."
"G'night, blossom."
