Chapter 38: Caesar's Empress

"Cosmo Roar's skill; I add +2000 power to Enigman Wave." Yuri continued. "I attack Goddess of the Half Moon, Tsukuyomi with Dailady."

"I guard with Dream Eater." Misaki fended.

"Next, I attack with the Dailady on my left." Yuri was not done.

"I guard with Gemini." Misaki fended again.

"With a boost from Magical Police, Quilt, Enigman Wave attacks." Yuri continued her attack. "Drive check." and drew a critical.

"Even though Misaki protected herself against the powering up..." Miwa gawked.

"She got a critical?" Renji was shocked.

"GC, yo?" Eiji summarized.

"I give all the effects to Enigman Wave." Yuri powered up her unit. "Since the attack hit, Quilt's skill activates. I switch a card from my hand. That's the end of my turn."

"I draw." Misaki drew a card. "With the Goddess of the Half Moon's skill, I get to check the top five cards in my deck. No trigger." she shoved the cards back into her deck. "Beautiful shining Goddess, I ride!"

"Misaki is riding Amaterasu." Emi recognized the unit.

"Show her the power of a grade 3." Morikawa cheered.

"Amaterasu's skill." Misaki continued. "I Soulcharge and check the top card of my deck I put the card at the bottom of the deck. I attack Dailady with Battle Maiden, Tagitsuhime." she took out the Dailady on the right. "Amaterasu attacks Enigman Wave."

"No guard." Yuri declared.

"Twin drive check." Misaki drew a critical trigger. "There it is. I got a critical trigger. That's the end of my turn."

"I draw." Yuri took her turn. "Beautiful, shining superwoman in love, I ride!" she slammed Enigman Rain on top of Enigman Wave. "And then, I call!" Karenroid, Daisy and Miracle Beauty were summoned to the field. "Next, I activate Cosmo Roar's skill again. I give the power of Enigman Rain. I attack Tagitsuhime with Dailady. With a boost from Daisy, Miracle Beauty attack Amaterasu. With a boost from Magical Police, Quilt, Enigman Rain attacks Amaterasu."

"Oh no, you don't." Misaki threw down two units. "I guard with Psychic Bird and White Hare of Inaba."

"Twin drive check." Yuri drew two cards. "That's the end of my turn. You've made an accurate assessment of of the situation." she noted. "But in your shoes, I would've been a little more adventurous."

"I'm more interested in certainty than adventure." Misaki fired back. "I activate Amaterasu's skill. I call!" she summoned three units. "White Hare of Inaba's skill. One card in my hand goes to the Soul. "

"Ichibyoshi, Crescent Moon and Half Moon are in the Soul." Izaki stated.

"This way, Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi, can be used to attack with 11000 power." Miwa added.

"Show her some Grade 3 girl power." Morikawa bragged.

"Go for it, Misaki!" Emi cheered.

"I'm going to keep Dailady from intercepting." Misaki swore. "I attack with Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi. Amaterasu attacks Enigman Rain with a boost from White Hare."

"I guard with Cosmo Fang and Justice Cobalt." Yuri fended the attack.

"Twin drive, first check." Misaki drew her first card and drew a critical. "I give all the effects to Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi: +1 critical and +5000 power."

"Sure." Yuri nodded. "That's what you would normally do. It was close, huh?" she mused, Misaki's second card was the Dream Eater, which was a Draw Trigger and not the Stand Trigger she was hoping for. "If you'd given Ginger's critical to Amaterasu, I would have taken 2 damage. This fight would be over. I know the choice you faced about the trigger. You want to gain any advantage in a fight, no matter how small. So you chose the option with the higher chance of success. There's nothing wrong with that. But, you know, there's no guarantee that you're always going to win like that."

"I give this draw trigger to Goddess of the Full Moon, Tsukuyomi." Misaki continued her turn. "And then, I attack with Enigman Rain."

"Guard!" Yuri used Cosmo Roar to fend the attack. "This too." she added Karenroid, Daisy. "Next." she tossed in Enigman Wave for good measure.

"That's the end of my turn." Misaki ended her turn.

"It's too bad." Yuri sighed. "Thanks to that, I used up my whole hand, too. Okay, now I'll show you the way I fight. That is, my image on how to win. Instead of worrying about possibilities, I pull out all the stops. When I do that, the cards will answer my call. I draw. I call Miracle Beauty. Cosmo Roar's skill: I add +2000 to the power of Enigman Rain. With a boost from Daisy, Miracle Beauty attacks Amaterasu. With a boost from Magical Police, Quilt, Enigman Rain attacks Amaterasu."

"I won't let it." Misaki pulled out two guard units. "I guard with Ginger and Dream Eater."

"The same guard as before." Yuri remarked. "Except, when if Rain's attack doesn't go through, it's possible for Miracle Beauty to stand, as long as a stand trigger shows up. Then Daisy will also stand, and I can attack again with full power. You don't draw triggers based on possibilities you draw them with a strong will that desires victory. Twin drive, first check. Second check."

"It can't be." Misaki breathed.

"Uh oh..." Ami muttered.

"Misaki." Emi mumbled in worry.

"Stand trigger." Yuri activated the effect. "Miracle Beauty, stand. +5000 power. And then, I activate her skill to make Daisy stand. I'm going to send her to finish you off. With a boost from Daisy, Miracle Beauty attacks Amaterasu." with the final attack, she took the win.

"Stand up, Vanguard!" both Aichi and Mitsusada chorused, starting the third fight.

"Wingal Brave." Aichi played his card.

"Enigman Flow." Mitsusada countered. "I draw. I ride Enigman Ripple. I activate Enigman Flow's skill and on top of that, Enigman Ripple's skill. That's the end of my turn."

"I draw." Aichi took his turn. "I ride Little Sage, Marron. I move Wingal Brave and call Barcgal. I also superior call Flogal. With a boost from Wingal Brave, Flogal attack Enigman Ripple. I attack with Marron. My turn's finished."

"I draw." Mitsusada took his turn. "I ride Enigman Wave Enigman Wave's skill: +1000 power. I call Masked Police, Grander. I attack Marron with Grander. I attack with Enigman Wave. That's the end of my turn."

"They each have 2 damage." Renji was worried.

"EH2D." Eiji agreed.

"Looks like they've started by trading jabs." Miwa rationalized.

"What is this, a boxing match?" Ami sighed.

"Barcgal, call Llew." Aichi took his turn. "Counterblast. I put Barcgal, Flogal and Llew into the Soul. Stand up, my avatar. I superior ride Blaster Blade! I call!" with one shot, he filled up the ranks. "Pongal's skill, counterblast. I add Soul Saver Dragon to my hand."
