Chapter 39: The Man They Call 'The Emperor'!

"I attack Enigman Wave with Knight of Friendship, Kay." Aichi continued his attack. "When Kay attacks, he receives +3000 power."

"I guard with Enigman Ripple." Mitsusada countered.

"With a boost from Marron, Blade Blade attacks." Aichi ordered.

"No guard." Mitsusada replied.

"Drive check." Aichi drew a card.

"Damage check." Mitsusada drew one card.

"With a boost from Wingal Brave, Knight of Loyalty, Bedivere attacks." Aichi continued his attack wave. "My Vanguard is Blaster Blade, so Bedivere received another +3000."

"I guard with Guide Dolphin." Mitsusada fended.

"My turn ends." Aichi ended his turn.

"Stand and draw." Mitsusada took his turn. "Summon your courage, my invincible superhuman. I ride Enigman Storm. And then, I call." he summoned three more units. "With a boost from Cosmo Roar, Masked Police Grander attacks Knight of the Loyalty, Bedivere. Grander's skill, my Vanguard received +2000 power. With boost from Guide Dolphin, Enigman Shine attacks Knight of Friendship, Kay. "

"I see." Aichi realized what Mitsusada was planning. "Mitsusada-san is trying to destroy my Soul Save Dragon strategy."

"Soul Save Dragon's skill, with a five-card Soulblast, you can give power to up to three of your rear-guards, thereby increasing your entire attacking power." Mitsusada explained. "But if I decrease the number of unit in your rear-guard, I can weaken the power of that attack. You did a good job preparing this attack during the previous turn, but I won't let you use it freely. Enigman Storm attacks Blaster Blade. Twin drive check. Stand trigger. Enigman Shine stands. I add +5000 to his power."

"Damage check." Aichi drew a card.

"Enigman Shine." Mitsusada called his Grade 3 unit for another attack. "That's the end of my turn."

"Wait." Aichi pleaded, feeling his Psyqualia react to Ren. The power of Psyqualia shows me you guys and the future of Cardfights. I'm not turning down this power. But without my own strength, I'll surely become addicted to the power again. "That's why I'm not going to rely on that power today." he found himself transported to Cray and facing his units. "I want to fight Mitsusada-san using my own strength. Give everything I've got to compete with him to become stronger myself."

Sendou Aichi, Queen Isis manifested in the midst of the Royal Paladin units. I have received your will and accepted your resolve. Now go forth, my Guardian of Holy Light!

"Draw." returning to the cardfight, Aichi drew a card. "Sacred dragon! Appear and muster your mystical power. I rider Soul Saver Dragon! I Soulblast five cards. Holy Charging Roar! I call. Swordsman of the Explosive Flame, Palamedes. Attack Enigman Storm."

"Intercept." Mitsusada used Grander to intercept. "Grander."

"With a boost from Marron, Soul Saver Dragon attacks." Aichi continued his attack.

"No guard." Mitsusada declared.

"Twin drive check." Aichi drew two cards.

"Damage check." Mitsusada drew a card.

"With a boost from Wingal Brave, Gordon attacks." Aichi ordered.

"I guard with Cosmo Fang." Mitsusada fended.

"That's the end of my turn." Aichi declared.

"Well Aichi, since I consider you my rival, I'm going to challenge you by going all out." Mitsusada promised. "I put Guide Dolphin into the Soul so I can add +3000 power to Enigman Storm. I call Cosmo Beak. Counterblast. I add +4000 to the power of Enigman Storm. And I call." he filled up his rear-guards. "Enigman Storm's skill, if his power is 15000 or more, he gets an extra critical. With a boost from Glory Maker, Enigman Storm attacks Gordon. I'm going to keep you from intercepting. You see, I really want my attack to against your Vanguard to succeed. Glory Maker's skill, when she boosts, if there's 4 or more damage, my Vanguard receives +4000 power."

"He's got 28000 power." Renji gaped.

"G2P!" Eiji agreed.

"But doesn't it seem like kind of a waste?" Izaki wondered. "If he's got that much power, why would he use it against the rear-guard?"

"Good question." Morikawa agreed. "Rear-guards should fight rear-guards."

"Like it'd be that straight-forward." Ami deathpanned.

"Well, you'll see." Miwa agreed.

"Twin drive check." Mitsusada continued his turn. "First card. Second card. A trigger couldn't have come at a better time. Stand trigger activated. I add +5000 power to Enigman Storm. And then Glory Maker stands. Now I'll show you great power. Commander Laurel's skill four of my rear-guard units rest. And then, stand Enigman Storm. This is my special weapon 'Dictator's Final Domination'."

"I see." Izaki realized what Miwa meant. "Commander Laurel's skill lets the Vanguard stand up.

"So then, he attacks with Storm," Renji added.

"STHAWSNP?" Eiji translated.

"With 'no problem', you say?" Morikawa guessed the meaning of the last two letters.

"And since the cost for activating that skill is 'resting four rear-guard units', it's not like he could use any of them first." Miwa reasoned. "This was the best way to about destroying the Interceptors in order to make his attack on the Vanguard a sure thing. And we can't forget about Enigman Storm's..."

"The extra critical." Renji gasped.

"Aichi already has 4 damage." Emi pointed out. "If he takes 2 damage now..."

"My battle with you is going to end here." Mitsusada was confident of his victory. "I'll go easy on you by making it quick. I won't prolong the agony. Glory Maker's boost. Go, Enigman Storm. With Glory Maker's skill, the total is 33000."

"I'm not giving up." Aichi stood firm. "Everyone, please help." he tossed in four card to block.

"Twin drive check." Mitsusada continued. "Wonderful. You left yourself enough power to protect against this attack."

"If you're going to come with me with all your might, Mitsusada-san, I'll defend with all my strength." Aichi replied.

"My turn ends." Mitsusada declared. "I'm impressed you blocked that attack. But..."

"I know." Aichi cut in. "You're a great fighter, Mitsusada-san. Your attack just now made me... i''ll fight with all I've got. See the King in his younger days as he blazes a trail with his knights." he played the card he just drew. "I ride Alfred Early! Alfred Early's skill, stand up again, my avatar. Superior call, Blaster Blade. With Blaster Blade's skill, Cosmo Beak exits the field. Counterblast. I've stopped your intercept. Now we can get an attack through. I attack with Swordsman of the Explosive Flame, Palamedes."

"5 damage." Mitsusada looked at his damage zone. "But I'll protect myself against your remaining attacks."

"With a boost from Marron, Alfred Early attacks." Aichi continued his attack.

"Perfect guard with Diamond Ace." Mitsusada fended.

"Twin drive." Aichi pushed forward. "First check. Second check. Sharon." he drew the stand trigger card. "Thank you for coming. Stand trigger. I add +5000 to the power of Blaster Blade. And then Palamedes stands. Here I go. With a boost from Wingal Brave, Blaster Blade attacks."

"No guard." Mitsusada declared. "I leave what happens to the judgment of fate known as triggers. Damage check. Too bad." he conceded. "This is as far as I go."

"He did it!" Morikawa whooped.
