Day 2
Homer focus
Homer woke with a jolt and looked at the clock which read 10am. Homer laughed before turning to Marge's side of the bed, "Marge, I had the weirdest dream, there wer-," Homer stopped as he suddenly realised Marge was not there. Homer quickly threw his sheets off before running to the kids' bedroom and finding it empty. Home ran downstairs as fast as he could, "Marge! Kids!"
Marge's voice sounded from the kitchen, "We're all in here Homie."
Homer walked in the kitchen and saw the kids all eating cereal as Marge looked in the fridge. "Marge, I had the weirdest dream, zombies were everywh-"
Marge shook her head slowly, "It wasn't a dream Homie," she said sadly, "It was all real." Homer's face fell as he looked around the room and saw the furniture the family had pressed against the door and the papers covering the windows. Marge waited until Homer had finished observing the room before she continued, "The kids were hungry so I brought them down here. But we're nearly out of food, I haven't done grocery shopping yet."
Homer looked confused before realising what she wanted, "You want me to go out there? With the zombies? To get food?"
"We need food." Marge said, "You can just take the car, drive to the Kwik-E-Mart, grab some food and drive back here."
Homer looked at the door, "How am I supposed to get in or out? We blocked the doors, remember?"
"There's a rope ladder hanging from Bart's window." Marge said as she picked some items out of a cupboard. "Take these to put the food in," she said as she placed some carrier bags in Homer's hands, "and take this if you need to protect yourself." She said placing a large chopping knife in his hands.
Homer nodded before heading to Bart's room down the ladder and into the car.
The drive to the Kwik-E-Mart was largely quick and uneventful with Homer spotting about four zombies in the three blocks of driving. Homer stopped his car in the Kwik-E-Mart parking lot next to another car. Homer exited his car and attempted to enter the Kwik-E-Mart through the automatic door but stopped when he realised it would not open. "Great." Homer muttered to himself as he wondered if he could smash through the glass doors. Before trying to smash through, Homer looked at the side of the building and found an open door behind the dumpster.
Homer entered through the door and looked at the empty counter where Apu was always stood. "Apu?" Homer yelled as he wandered around the store, "Apu, you in here." Homer stopped as he saw Apu. Unfortunately, Apu was on the floor in a puddle of blood, a single bullet shot through his head.
Homer looked at Apu with sadness before shaking his head and grabbing items off the shelf and putting them in the bags he was given. Homer continued to pack until he heard the click of a gun's safety being clicked off behind him and he paused.
"Turn around, dude." The voice behind him said.
Homer took a deep breath and wondered if he could pull out his knife and attach before he would be shot but decided against it. Homer turned around and immediately saw Snake standing half a metre from him pointing a gun directly at him. "What do you want Snake." Homer asked, his eyes not leaving Snake's gun.
"Lil' Bandit broke down," Snake replied, nodding his head towards the car Homer parked next to, "so I need your car keys to get away from here."
Homer shook his head, "I need that car, I've got a family and I need to get this food to them."
Snake stepped forward, "How useful do you think you'll be with a bullet through your brain? I got a kid too, that kid needs food and I need your car." Homer glared at Snake with rage before silently pulling his car keys out of his pocket and throwing them to Snake. "Thanks dude, bye." Snake laughed before heading out the door into Homer's car and driving away.
Homer shook his head before angrily grabbing all the supplies he could manage from food to diapers to snacks. Once all the bags were full of various items Homer left the store making sure to kick Snake's broken car as he passed it.
Homer looked down the street before deciding it was clear and sprinting as fast as he could to his house. After arriving at his house with no incidents Homer suddenly stopped upon seeing a zombified Rob shambling about. Homer debated trying to sneak inside the house up until the point where Rod suddenly turned and spotted him.
Homer's hand tightened around the knife as Rod lunged at him. Homer's felt his hand move as Rod neared and the knife slashed at Rod's exposed throat. Rod fell to the floor with a loud squeal as he writhed on the ground. Homer gave a look of sadness to Rod before bringing his foot down on Rod's head ending his life.
Homer quickly climbed up the ladder and into the house. Heading downstairs he found the family into the living room where he pulled Marge to the kitchen.
Marge quickly hugged Homer and asked, "How did it go?"
Homer hugged her back, "Good news, I got everything, bad news, Snake stole our car."
Marge was silent as se contemplated this, "We have enough supplies, I think we can stay here for a while."
