AN~ Edited. Like, severely.

Mr. Canis has always had a problem with his temper. Even back in the days before everything happened, when he was a woodcutter, he can remember anger. He just didn't act on it nearly as often. He learned to control it, mostly. But it was still there. He remembers so much rage all the time. So many times he wanted to slam that stupid Hatchett boy against a tree for how useless he was...

Actually, the Wolf helped with that. Not for the centuries he can't remember, of course, but for the decades that followed, the years when he knew who he was, he needed to learn to control his temper. Basil wouldn't have given him any second chances. And now, with the Wolf gone for good, Mr. Canis finds that his temper is almost gone with it.

Except where Charming is concerned. The two avoid each other as much as possible- it's easier now that the borders of the town are gone. Charming has his wife to keep him under control, and she does an excellent job. He's keeping busy with some projects Mr. Canis hasn't delved into, but he assumes they're more useful than what he did as the mayor. Actually, anymore Charming is bearable. Mr. Canis pins this change entirely on Snow. She gives him a reason to control his temper.

He supposes Relda did that for him. Not in the same way Snow does for Charming, of course, because he and Relda have never been more than friends. And they never will be. Even if Relda weren't so in love with Basil that she's already told him she's going to grow old and die for him, he has never seen her that way. He loves her like family. They are best friends, and that is all. She is the one person who never lost faith in him, and he, in turn, will do anything for her, even keep her secret.

Even let her throw away the immortality he gave her.

For a while, he worried that he'd be useless, without the Wolf inside him. He thought he'd be just some old man they'd have to protect. He... wanted the Wolf back. For a bit.

But now he's found a purpose, in the little girl who has shouldered his burden for him. They never found the kazoo again, and he thinks it is lost for good this time, but it is all right. He and Red are working on controlling her temper.

It will take a long time.

But they will do it.
