Sorry about the longer upload time. I had some projects to do, a book to read, and lots of normal homework. Not to mention in my classes where I used to type, we're actually doing stuff. Ugh...but anyway, here ya go! Next chapter. Also, I'm gonna remove the update thingy :3

Jarvan stormed out of the prison and headed up the road to the portals. Katarina quickly hopped down in front of him, daggers drawn just in case.

He eyes the dragons before eyeing her. "What do you want?"

"To chat." She kept the daggers in her hand and raised them. "Just in case you try killing me."

"I won't kill you." She sighed in relief. "But I will get revenge on you for hurting one of my soldiers."

She shook her head but nodded eventually. "Fine, fine, that's fine. Just don't start a war."

"You were watching?"

"Of course I was. I've been watching Vi and Caitlyn for a while. What'd you expect of me? They're some scary cops. And so where you when you left."

"And?"

"Well, a full out war would benefit me for sure. I'd get lots of money to attack others on your side, maybe even have to fight Garen." She shook her head. "But don't you remember what happened after the older wars?"

"I do."

She threw up her hands, angry now. "Than think about your people would you?!"

He rushed forward faster than she could tell, his spear at her neck. She stared at him, wide eyed while he glared at her.

He then stepped back, lowering his weapon. "Am I a good actor?"

"…what?" she stared at him, uncomprehending.

He grinned and laughed at her. "You thought I had lost it didn't you didn't you?"

"Wha-? You're…not mad?"

"Oh no, I' absolutely enraged, but I'm not so mad as to have my people die under me for one person. I'm going to deal with this myself. Maybe with Sona, Lux, Garen and anyone else who wishes to help me."

"Oh..so good…no war then?"

"No war."

Katarina sighed in relief, laying down on her back as she relaxed. "Thank god."

"Why? Were you worried?"

"Unlike my idiot…co-worker, I think of the consequences of my actions. He rarely, if ever does."

"So, are we working together?"

"Until this situation is resolved, yes. You have the might of the Noxian assassins on your side."

"Your father even agreed to helping someone like me? The sworn enemy of his country."

"He wishes to prevent a political scandal involving our family or organization, so he said I can do whatever I wish within certain limits to prevent that from happening."

"So politics?"

"Yeah…I hate politics personally, so it's going to be a pain in the ass when I inherit the assassin organization."

"Oh you're inheriting it? Well, figures. You guys can't have Talon running it can you?"

"Fuck no! We would get screwed in every way possible. At least I know how to act around people."

"touché," he offered her a hand to get up. "So, shall we get going?"

"Sure, but um, do you know where to get the antidote?"

"No, but by the time we get to the portals, I'd imagine he would have spilled."

His assumption was right. Jarvan's phone buzzed as they got there, prompting him to pull it out to see a text message from Caitlyn. It read:

Jarvan. You won't believe what you need in order to make it. You need ground up Flaming Lilies from The Plague Jungles, ground scarab from the Shrina Desert, and blue crystals of mana and red crystal of healing from Mount Gargantuan. Yeah, good luck with this.

~3 Caitlyn and Vi

"Nothing less expected from those two. But Christ, what the hell did he make." Jarvan scratched the back of his head. "If he needed ingredients as rare as this to make it, then damn. If they were simple, they why is the cure so complex?"

Katarina hopped up a nearby stop sign to look over his shoulder and read the message. "Ooooooooh, so that's what he made…."

"What? You know this cure?"

"Mhmm, messes with your mind and makes you think things that happened never did, mixes faces, wonderful for manipulation. We've used it before on…targets of interest."

"Myself?"
"Heh, we wish! Erm, I mean Noxus wishes, not myself in particular."

"….right…" Jarvan said with more than a hint of doubt in his voice. "Regardless, shall we get going? I don't think I'll bring all the people I said I would before, but we will need some tour guides."

"Hmmmm, Nasus would be useful in the desert," Katarina said, ticking off her fingers as she said each person's name. "Leona would probably help you in the mountain, and Wukong will do anything for Ahri, so as long as we bring her along, Wukong can help us in the Plague Jungles."

"And why do you know all of this?" Jarvan asked as they neared the portals.

"Information is money, and I'm an assassin. You never know when some random bit of information might come in handy."

"You plan on killing others in the League?" Jarvan asked as the operators got their portal running.

"WHAT?! God no…well, yeah no, if they ordered me to, I'd turn around and kill them." Katarina let out a cocky laugh. "After all, it's up to us on whether or not we accept and kill the messenger."

"…remind me not to ever try to understand how Noxus works, alright?"

She laughed but nodded. "Deal." They walked into the portals, Katarina going first. Jarvan sighed and leaned his head back before walking in.

I hope this all goes alright.

"Here we are," Nasus said, the giant standing in front of a pair of obelisks. There were four in total in a square, a sandstone bottom with an arch that made the portal's gateway. On the obelisks, there were varying inscriptions that glowed an eerie blue as they worked, which was all the time. The portal itself seemed to be the color of the sand around it, and swirled within itself.

On the horizon, a group of shacks around an oasis showed where the nearest 'town' was, as well as a series of pyramids.

"So," Nasus said, his voice both soft and loud at once, and sounded like the desert sand whipping around in a storm. "You needed to find some beetles, correct?"

"Yes, we do Mr. Nasus," Jarvan said with a nod. Instead of his golden armor, he had sweat pants, a long shirt, a bandana around his face, and a cowboy hat that was large enough to provide him with adequate shade. He carried his spear in hand and armor in his backpack, Nasus having told him he would have boiled alive in it in the desert.

Katarina had split up with him to go with Ahri and Wukong to the Plague Jungles, saying she didn't need to spend any more time with Demacia's prince than she needed to. In reality she had no problem with him, but politics were politics and she couldn't spend too much time with someone she might have to kill someday.

Nasus chuckled, a deep and gravely one, as he shook his head. "Just Nasus Jarvan. No need for formalities."

"If you say so Nasus." Jarvan followed the giant…erm…being as they started trecking through the desert. "Where are we going?"

"Near the town. I know where if we are patient, the scarabs will come storming by."

Storming by? What does he mean by that? Jarvan asked himself, but didn't ask the giant.

"Did you bring a lot of water Jarvan?" The giant asked, turning to look at him.

"Yeah, I did, why? The town doesn't look that far away."

"Hmph," Nasus cracked a grin at this and shook his head. "You'll be surprised. The actual distance is much more than what you eyes show you. It's the desert and the heat that confuses your eyes."

"Really? Interesting." Jarvan had a sudden thought. "What about you? Don't you need water?"

Nasus laughed. "I am a hero of Shuriman! A little bit of heat like this is nothing to me. Not to mention I lived out in the desert for who knows how long until I joined the League. Do not worry about me."

"I mean, if you say so," Jarvan said with a shrug. They traveled the rest of the way in silence, Nasus checking to make sure Jarvan was still with him and not swept away into the sand.

"May I ask why you are going on this journey? Is it for Shyvana?"

Jarvan sighed and shook his head. "Ahri tell you?"

A laugh from the giant was all he needed to know he was right. "Damn that kitsune, I swear to god I'm~"

"Do not worry," Nasus said, smiling at the other champion. "She did it for a good reason. She said, what were her words, 'I'm going to fuck his reputation so badly he'll wish he was just a prostitute in Piltover." I think she said that."

"Sound like her, more or less."

All of a sudden, Nasus stopped, causing Jarvan to bump into his back. They had just climbed over a sand dune, and over it was a small oasis. There were some trees that offered a bit of shade around a watering hole where small bits of grass grew.

"Rest here," Nasus said, sitting under a tree in the shade, sighing at the relief. "It feels wonderful, and we only need wait for them."

Jarvan sat in the shade of another tree, sighing in relief. The shade from the sweltering heat that was renowned for killing people after leading them on hallucinogenic trips in circles, only for them to die of dehydration. He set down his bag and opened it, seeing his golden armor in one piece. He reached out and touched it, only to find it was burning hot. "Damn!" he hissed, withdrawing his hand after just skimming it. He grabbed a cold water bottle in another section of his bag, taking a large swig from it. There was nothing better than feeling the ice cold liquid slide through his throat, and rest in his stomach, cooling his body from within.

Nasus watched his blissful expression with a small smile. Humans are such interesting creatures, he thought. They sat like that for a while, both just relaxing in companionable silence, one that bordered on awkward.

"So…" Jarvan said, breaking the silence. "When will those scarabs arrive?"

"Oh…who knows?" Nasus said with a shrug. "Sometime today. Shouldn't be too long. They have to get a drink sometime soon after all. They do travel in large herds, so this will be a prime spot for them to visit."

Jarvan's brow furrowed. Weren't scarabs small? And didn't they just hide in the sand? He voiced this, and Nasus looked at him, confused as well.

"You didn't know? But I thought…well…you'll find out soon enough," Nasus said with that very uninformative message.

They waited, and waited, and waited, until the sun began to set. Jarvan began to stand up, but a hand from Nasus told him to sit back down. "Silence, do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" Jarvan asked, straining his ears. After a few moments, he heard a loud rumbling coming from over a nearby sand dune. Climbing it, he peaked over the edge and saw something he had never expected to see.

There was a giant horde of scarabs, each as big as a car and varying through all the different colors they could be, all heading towards the oasis. Jarvan had to run away, grabbing his bag and Nasus as he did so. "Damn, damn, damn, damn get up!"

Nasus just removed his hand and sat down. "They won't hurt me. Move away, before they do hurt you."

"Don't need to tell me twice!" He ran off hiding under a tree on the other side of the oasis as the horde of scarabs, maybe several hundred swarmed forward, making a circle around Nasus and heading for the water, It was if they knew what he was and respected him.

Nasus stood up as they started getting drinks from the oasis, muttering something to one of them. He came forward with one that was limping badly, toward Jarvan.

"He says he will be a sacrifice to help save your woman."

"One, she's not my woman. Two, you can speak with them? Three, I don't need a sacrifice if he's this big." He took out his spear, and chipped off a bit of the shell that had grown too big and was hanging off the edges. "That's all I need, he can live."

"She's a she," Nasus said with a raised eyebrow, before lowering himself to the scarab's height and whispering something. It seemed to nod before scampering away, its claws scuttling on the sand. "And yes, I can speak with all creatures of the desert."

"Huh…that's a thing," Jarvan said, collecting the bits of the scarabs he had chopped off. He put them in his bag, before straightening up. "Thank you Nasus for all your help, really, this is very important."

"For your lover?"

"God damn!" Jarvan swore, face palming. "She's…not…my…lover… she's…my…soldier…"

"Are you sure?" Nasus tilted his head, his eyes questioning.

"Yes I am! A subordinate protects their subordinates, and so on and so forth, that's all."

Nasus shrugged. "If you say so, it's not my place to interfere, just to tease in."

"Just…don't get as bad as Ahri please?"

Nasus laughed, throwing his head back as it escaped him, not able to hold it back. "I'm sorry Jarvan, my friend, nobody is as bad as she is."

"You're right about that…speaking of which, I wonder how things are going on her end?"

In the swaps, Ahri charmed a swamp monster, before ramming through it with her fox fire.

"Christ," the kitsune swore. "Why did it have to be in a place like this?"
