It wasn't too long before half moon had arrived and Dapplepaw's time to visit the Moonpool for the first time had finally arrived.
"Ah Meadowsong you finally arrived," Pinewhisker purred with a hint of amusement. "Now we just got one more cat to wait on."
"Here he comes now," Skunkfur meowed.
"Looks like I made it in time," Ravenflight mewed.
"As young as you are I'm quite surprised you weren't here first," the Thunderclan Medicine Cat meowed. "Windclan sure is keeping you busy."
"They are," the black tom purred with amusement. "Although I could say the same thing about you, Pinewhisker. I'm guessing you and Beepaw were here before Skunkfur, Meadowsong, and Dapplepaw were.
Pinewhisker nodded.
"It's amazing how Beepaw isn't exhausted," Meadowsong purred with a hint of amusement.
"Ah the young apprentice is as young as his motives are," Pinewhisker replied. "Shall we get started?"
"You should go first, Pinewhisker," Skunkfur meowed. "You did arrive here first."
"Beepaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of Starclan as a Medicine Cat?" Pinewhisker began.
"It is," Beepaw mewed.
"Then come forward."
Beepaw walked towards his mentor and sat beside him.
"Warriors of Starclan, I present you with this apprentice. He has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant him your wisdom and insight so that he may understand your ways and heal his clan in accordance to your will."
The pale tom began to lap up the water of the Moonpool.
"Dapplepaw, it's your turn now," Meadowsong meowed.
The young tortoise shell nodded.
"Dapplepaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of Starclan as a Medicine Cat?" Meadowsong began.
"It is," Dapplepaw answered.
"Then come forward."
Dapplepaw came towards her mentor and sat beside her.
"Warriors of Starclan, I present you with this apprentice. He has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant him your wisdom and insight so that he may understand your ways and heal his clan in accordance to your will."
Dapplepaw began to lap the Moonpool's water as she closed her eyes. As she was lapping up the water she eventually opened up her eyes to find herself in Starclan. Dapplepaw had never seen such a beautiful place and it felt like it was Greenleaf.
"Greetings Dapplepaw," a she-cat meowed as she approached her. She was a slender dark golden tabby with amber eyes.
The young apprentice widens her eyes in admiration this was her first time seeing a cat with stars in their pelt. "Who are you?"
"I am Amberwing," she meowed. "I was former Medicine Cat for Riverclan.
Dapplepaw had remembered hearing the cat's name in Duckfeather's recent story as a kit and now she was seeing her for the first time.
"So you were there during that last war…"
"Yes…but let's talk about something else. Dapplepaw, we welcome you as a Medicine Cat apprentice for Riverclan."
Dapplepaw bowed her head. "Thank you I promise I will work my hardest."
"There's no need for you to be so formal," Amberwing meowed. "I'm sure you will, no I know you will."
Dapplepaw lowered her head in embarrassment.
Amberwing just purred in amusement.
"But if the sight of blood causes be to faint wouldn't that make it difficult for me to treat wounds?" the young tortoise shell questioned.
"Only if the wounds are fresh," the dark golden tabby simply meowed.
"I see. Thank you for letting me know, Amberwing."
"But it is only temporarily; you must train yourself to overcome the sight of fresh blood and learn to prevent yourself from fainting.
Dapplepaw's fur began to bristle for a bit. "But if that's all I have to do then why couldn't I train as a warrior's apprentice?"
"It would be impossible for you to do as a warrior's apprentice, as medicine cat it would be much easier. Wouldn't you agree?"
Dapplepaw said nothing and just simply nodded.
"I believe it is time for you to wake up now. It was nice talking to you."
Before waking up Dapplepaw saw a cat in the background that caught her attention. This cat carried a familiar presence, as if she met this cat before or a cat that looked like him.
"How did it go?" Meadowsong asked as the two of them walked back to Riverclan camp together.
"It was wonderful I've never seen such a beautiful place," Dapplepaw replied with enthusiasm.
"Yes Starclan is very beautiful, but what about the cats there? Our ancestors are wiser than any cat living. Have you learned anything from them?"
Hearing this, the first thing that came to Dapplepaw's mind was Amberwing telling her what her destiny was. "She just greeted me as a medicine cat's apprentice and told me that I would be a great medicine cat."
"That's good to hear. Who was it that you spoke with?"
"It was a former medicine cat called Amberwing."
"What did you thought of her?"
"She was really nice and pretty."
"She really is. I too have spoken with her and like any other Starclan cat it is to head their words."
Dapplepaw just nodded in agreement.
"As long as you follow their wisdom and guidance, your path will lead to a brilliant future. Dapplepaw, I'm sure you would exceed as a medicine cat."
Dapplepaw's eyes shone with admiration for amount until that one Starclan cat she saw in the background. She sat down as she began to ponder the thought of this oddly familiar cat.
"Is there something wrong?" Meadowsong asked as she stopped in her tracks to turn to her apprentice who appeared to be in deep thought.
The more she thought of that cat the more it became clear. Dapplepaw had never seen this cat before that was definitely true, but she had seen a cat that looked a lot like him.
"Meadowsong there's something I want to ask you," Dapplepaw meowed.
The light brown tabby walked back towards her young apprentice and sat down beside her. "Sure, what is it?"
"In Starclan there was this cat I saw in the background that looked oddly familiar. It took me a bit to figure it out and I finally got it, this cat looked a lot like Falconpaw. Do you know who this cat is?"
"I had a feeling one of you would figure it out. Yes I do know who he is, that cat you saw was Windclan's former medicine cat, and his name was Falconwing. Let's hurry and head back to camp, I'll tell you more when we get back. You're littermates need to hear this as well."
