"ALRIGHT! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"
Doumoto-sensei's calling voice echoed around the room, along with the clapping of his hands. "RISE AND SHINE SLEEPYHEADS!"
"Uurrrrghhh"
The rest of them groaning stretched themselves up whilst yawning.
6:00 am. Monday morning.
"You've got a lot to do today so get up and start fixing yourselves..." He continued.
"I thought today's our free day?" Sawakita mumbled, scratching his eyes.
"Sensei... we all needed some rest yo..." Fukatsu insisted as well, still sitting down the mattress.
"Well, I apologize for the sudden change of schedule though." Doumoto-sensei explained. "This morning, the School Administration have called and faxed me, your Test Questionnaires and the rest of the tasks, homeworks and projects assigned to you."
"WHAAAAAAT?!" They screamed in unison upon hearing the dreaded word 'TEST', awakening their senses.
"W-why so soon!?" "Wasn't that supposedly next month?" "We haven't even prepared yet!" "This is so unfair!" And the rest started whining and complaining about the sudden change of schedule, stirring up noises inside the room.
"I'm not even done yet!" Doumoto-sensei admonished, shutting everyone up. "I understand where all of your complaints are coming from. However I asked for an extension until Wednesday for the exams and next week for the projects, so you had two days to study and another week to accomplish your checklist."
"Pheeeewwwwww!" They all sighed in relief.
"No 'phew'-ing this time. That only means, theres no time to slack around and we had to divide your time wisely for your rehearsals and for your studies as well. Specially YOU! SAWAKITA!"
"WHAT? What did I do again?!"
"Nothing YET." He then turned to everyone else. "So enough for the small talk, ya'll hurry and get dressed so we can eat breakfast and start working..."
"Haaaaaaaaiiiii...!"
With a long lethargic response they all dragged their bodies to rise up, fixing their beddings.
7:30 am.
"Ohayoo!" Same greetings you here everywhere around the corridors of Shohoku High School along with the rest of the students chattering.
"Oi, Naomi..."
Behind Naomi who was absentmindedly sitting by the window, with her elbows resting on her desk, someone called her out after ignoring the greeting that was supposedly addressed to her.
"Ah! Mika... Oha" Finally going back to her senses, she greeted her friend back who had just arrived, fixing her things above the desk.
"What's up with that mood? You've been like that since yesterday."
"What?"
"What what? Youre acting way too strange since yesterday... specially in front of Eiji-kun..."
Rolling her eyes, Naomi grunted. "Ugh, not that douchebag again..."
"I thought you like him?, 'Like' as in appreciate his skills and stuff?" Mika began asking her. "There's something youre NOT telling me... Have you guys met before?"
"Naaaah..."
Mika tapping her foot against the floor crossed her arms, leaning forward to her friend, narrowing her eyes at her closely.
"ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!" Naomi finally gave in. "WE HAVE!"
"Annnddd?" Mika asked tauntingly, still leaning forward to Mika.
"It didn't go too well..."
8:30 am.
"Aaaaaah..." Sawakita groaned. "This checklist is relatively looong compared to the short time given for us to work on it! What am I, a SUPERHERO?! This is ridiculous!"
Sawakita and the rest of them flipped through the checklists, lessons and worksheets given to them respectively. They were sitting on the floor around a short, wide table finally to begin studying for the exams to be held on Wednesday. And today is already Monday.
"Senpai's a superace though...haha" Mikio chuckled.
"And what does being an ace at basketball has to do with this?!" Masashi sarcastically retorted. "Although, in some way I entirely agree on your bitching this time..."
"Pffft..." Sawakita rested his chin on his palm, scoffing, still irritated by the load of schoolwork to them.
"What the fuck! I dont even know the heck is this shit?" Nobe interjected, confused and shocked at the unfamiliar lessons and questions on the worksheets.
"We haven't took this up yet!" Minoru seconded.
"Hey, Ichinokura! Can I see yours too?" Sawakita on the background leaned towards Ichinokura to see if they had the same tasks, considering they're both at the same grade level.
"Studying for 7 subjects in JUST 2 days is literally insane... considering the fact we had been away from school for like half of the entire time the 2nd Quarter started..." Fukatsu bothered but still in his monotone, started to scribble things on the provided blank sheets of paper.
"He was going too insane that he entirely forgot his catchphrase..." Masashi and Sawakita thought while staring at him, rubbing their chins.
"What you looking at yo?" Fukatsu scolded in a flat yet stern tone.
"Nothing..." Masashi and Sawakita went back to their papers.
"Guuuuurl!" Mika called out. It's recess. She sat with Naomi under the tree eating some sandwiches. "Why the hell did you do that to him?!"
"I- I dunno!" Naomi stammered. "I was already in a bad mood that day even before he came. First, YOU not being around, our freshies not understanding a single thing, and then he just suddenly popped out of nowhere interrupting our practice..."
"So you took it on him?"
"Kind of?" Naomi shrugged. "I didn't mean to address that goofball thing to him. I was just emphasizing to our teammates that we should concentrate more and stop diverting our attention to trivial matters like that..."
"Well... I get it okay?" Mika tapped Naomi's shoulder. "But I sorta think it offended him, hence his reactions."
"Hey! If he didn't like me at all, then why did he have to introduce himself and act standoffishly like all that? He can just say 'yeah youre that arrogant bitch yesterday, GOTTA GO, BYE! You know how I hate sarcasm... As much as possible, I would like things straightforward..."
"I understand..." Mika nodded. "He's usually fine to me, and we never had tiffs like that before... maybe its the personality differences?"
"Dunno dont care..." Naomi rolled her eyes going back to her sandwich.
"Really?" Mika teasingly smiled back at her friend.
"WHAT?"
"You like him don't you?" She then nudged Naomi.
"SAAY WHAAAT? HELL NO!" Naomi reacted violently causing her sandwich to fall down the ground. "D'AW! SEE WHAT YOU DID?!"
"YOU did it.. haha" Mika laughed taunting her friend who already felt disconcerted by the said accusation.
"You owe me ONE SANDWICH!"
"Yeah sure..." She taunted Naomi more with a gloating smile. "Why are you denying it? He's cute, he's nice, he's an exceptionally good athlete and he's good at school too just like you!"
"I'm not denying anything?! Above all, hes a douchebag, who wants a douchebag?" Naomi strongly portested. "And weren't YOU the one who likes him?!"
"Oh pffft!" Mika rolled her eyes. "That was SO GRADESCHOOL haha! I still find him cute, but you can have him haha!"
Naomi just scoffed, crossing her arms...
"Classic you haha... We're like best friends... I can help you on him!"
"I said no! And NO means NO!"
"But you're blushing!"
"CAN YOU JUST FUCKING STOP IT?"
"Fiiine... I'll just give you some time to accept it to yourself, till then..."
"SHUT- UP!"
