Breaking Away
For: My readers, as always.
Pointless excuses: I wrote this as a warm-up to writing more, so be tolerant when reviewing (and you will review, right?) ...
A little bit of self-advertisement: If you like my work or want to know the one-shot my Red AU is based on, check out the one-shot series Eleven Words I finally posted here. Also, you can find me on AO3 now as well, as thedarknesseternal.
Review Answer I Forgot To Put Here Earlier: akirasatsuna, it's nice to know that I write KakaSaku well enought that someone who doesn't like that pairing actually starts to at least tolerate it... I also came to undestand the beauty of this pairing by reading one-shot series about it (it was the best one-shot series I've ever read).
Naruto/Sakura friendship, maybe AU, maybe not…
She looked to the side, finding him there as she always did.
He was energetic and passionate as he always was.
And she couldn't help but imagine a glass wall between them, as she always did.
Ever since he returned from his training with Jiraiya, there was something separating them.
She couldn't quite comprehend it, but what she knew was that the glass wall was there.
Where once was pure friendship, even though with a tinge of intolerance, there was something.
Something that bonded them, but kept this wall between them.
Was that what shinobi bonds were?
Keep close, but keep distant?
Where is the logic in that?
They have been like family, Naruto was like a little baka brother to her…
And now he was just… Naruto.
Where has been Team Seven, there was her, Naruto and Kakashi.
For some reason, things weren't as they used to be.
Something was broken and she didn't know whether it could be mended.
They were breaking away.
And Sakura feared they might never be united again.
