Merry 24th of December :) Thanks to all of you for reading, we recently passed 3,000 (!) views! Thank-you so much! I also would like to thank a friend of mine Litra-Palia14 who gave me the inspiration for this story, and for the fact she is giving me a fan fiction Christmas present! Thank-you all of you, you are all amazing, and I love you guys. Oh yeah, and if you would like me to only do author's notes at the bottom, please tell me. :)

The music was loud. You could hear it all over campus and a group of friends staggered away from the source, shouting and jeering.

"Seriously?" a voice rang out, the accent was crisply southern, with a hint of disgust, "They're already drunk, and it's only half past seven. What is the world coming to?"

"Leo, don't be rude."

"Oh leave her be Merlin, she's right you know?"

"Morgana, don't take her side."

"GUYS!"

There was a chorus of voices, "What Arthur?!"

"We are here for fun, not arguments."

The group of friends consisted of Merlin, Arthur, Leola, Gwen and Morgana. All of them were wearing fancier clothes than usual, because it was the annual Christmas Eve party. Well, almost all of them, Leola was in jeans and a top with the TARDIS on, but the others in the group decided to ignore that fact.

Merlin turned to Leola, "Are you ready to socialise Leo?"

"I'm never ready." That comment was met with a laugh from Merlin, and he grabbed her arm and pulled her into the building, with Arthur in hot pursuit.

The party was loud, the music was thumping, causing many students to do what they thought was dancing, but if it was ever seen by a choreographer, that choreographer may just keel over and die horribly.

The group of friends had become separated in the crowd, and now Merlin, Arthur and Leola were on one side of the room and Morgana and Gwen were on the other.

It seems as if we won't be seeing each other for the whole night. Let's aim to leave at 11.30, so we all get back in time for tomorrow.

-Morgana

I think that is probably best. Sorry about this though. See you at 11.30.

Hopefully... ^_^

-Leo

Leola returned to where Merlin and Arthur where, ordering drinks at the bar.

Arthur had to shout over the commotion, "What do you want Leola?!"

"I don't drink!"

This received a rather shocked expression from Arthur. Merlin just smiled and nodded.

Then Arthur said something unexpected, "Well then, Merlin here will have to drink for you!"

Merlin glared at Arthur, and all of his emotions were conveyed in that glare.

O

After half an hour Merlin was swaying and laughing with some others from the university, he kept pulling at both Arthur and Leola, to try and force them into joining in.

"It's Chrissssssstmasss eeeeveee, guyssss, come on, let'ssss have sssome fuun!" Merlin out his hands in the air and started to dance, completely out of time with the music.

"Maybe this was a bad idea Leola."

"You think?"

O

A whole hour had passed since the group arrived and everyone at the party was drunk, except one lonesome figure in the corner. To begin with it had been fun watching Merlin and Arthur being drunk. She had got some great photos and videos, but there was only so much "people-time" an introvert could take, and Leola was meeting her tether. She was focused on fan fiction on her phone, but because of the noise it was hard to concentrate on what she was reading, Tumblr wasn't good either. Leola was used to peace and quiet, so being in this environment meant she had got a headache almost immediately after she had entered. Her cheeks were flushed and she needed some air. Her blue eyes darted up and saw a tiny path between the bodies. Being short, she didn't really need that much room, and with supersonic speed she ran out of the building.

Leola looked up at the sky, it was cloudy, but freezing cold out here. On another night, she was sure couples would be out here, but due to the frost and the cold, Leola was alone with the night. Her breath was visible and she watched it rise up into the darkness before she started to stroll away from the warmth and into the deep abyss that was the night.

O

A blush had formed along Leola's cheekbones, and she had huddled into her coat. As far as she could see was darkness, and the music from the campus was barely audible. Even though she knew that she was still, just about, on campus there was no one around.

She began to talk softly, as if she was coaxing the night, "You know, there is an upside of being able to use ice magic. You always know when it's going to snow."

As she spoke these words, the sky split and cold snowflakes drifted down, the swirled and looked like falling stars that had lost their twinkle. As they flew some decided to land in Leola's brown hair, but not melting, they just sat atop her head and watched the other snowflakes fall.

As the snow settled, instead of burying herself deeper into her coat, with one fell swoop Leola stood in a short sleeved t-shirt and jeans in the fast settling snow. After a quick check, she began to create beauty out of magic.

Her hand motions were smooth and elegant; she was a ballet dancer dancing in the snow. Her eyes were shut and she began to command snowflakes to create beautiful shapes, before discarding them into gradually growing snow drifts. Then Leola took her left hand and crossed it in front of her body, she was surrounded by blue and white sparkling lights, which seemed to fall off her, and she stood in a beautiful dress that caught the streetlights and sparkled within them. Her eyes flung open and she raised a hand in front of her, a stream of magic burst from her palm and a silent firework of snowflakes came into view. Leola smiled.

O

Back in her normal clothes, and with her coat smothering her once more, Leola started to trudge back to the noisy room she had so gleefully left, when abruptly she stopped and pulled out her phone. Its screen temporary blinded her, as she struggled with the brightness tool. She opened an app which was simply called "Thoughts" She entered:

I have always loved the dark. Many hate it, or even fear it. They are scared about what lurks in every corner, but I find that darkness is a blanket, even though you may fear things outside it, it keeps you safe and hidden from the dangers that are on the outside. The darkness should only be feared when it is used by the evil, but when there is snow gracing the air, darkness is truly good.

O

"Leo! Where were yoooouu?!"

Leola smiled at Merlin's drunken grin; Arthur had his arm around Merlin's neck and a pint of beer in the air.

"Just, no where."

Arthur pointed the beer at Leola's face, causing her to lean backwards, in fear of the liquid touching her TARDIS t-shirt, "That ssseeemsss ssssuuussspisscousss to mee!"

Leola's phone suddenly vibrated, causing her to jump and knock the beer bottle Arthur was holding, part of the drink splashed on Arthur's clothes. He didn't notice.

It's about time to go don't you think?

-Morgana

How the hell can you text? Are you sober?

-Leo

Most definitely not, but I have been practising texting properly when drunk, so that I come across as well behaved to my clients. See you outside? Oh and Gwen is with me, she's rather tired I'm afraid.

-Morgana

Wait 'til you see the boys.

-Leo

O

Morgana stared at her brother and his best friend, but instead of saying anything, she just shook her head and made her way to the gates of the university. Gwen was almost being dragged by her, and Leola was pulling both of the boys behind her.

O

"Well I'm going to take Gwen home, could you look after Arthur until the morning?"

"That's fine Morgana; it's what we agreed anyway."

"Alright, merry Christmas Leola."

"Please, Leo, merry Christmas to you Morgana."

With a wave of her hand Morgana disappeared with Gwen, and Leola was faced with the task of getting two drunken adolescents into a tiny flat.

Leola didn't really know what to do so she placed both of the boys on the sofa and made herself a cup of tea. When she came back Merlin was leaning on Arthur, so she took up the available space on the right-hand side of the sofa.

Half a cup was all she drank before; she too, fell asleep on the sofa.

That was longer than I was expecting, sorry I updated so late into the day, it was because I had family dinner. . Anyway, last of this little filler arc tomorrow ;_; thanks for reading, leave a review if I have made any other weird/funny spelling mistakes, or if there is anything you would like me to improve for later chapters.
