Chapter 27
Brainiac's Ship
The gems stared up at Kal-Ven as he put Lola down on her feet and handed her the Beach City bottle along with the city Kandor.
"Alright guys on your feet, we got work to do!" Kal-Ven said to them.
"We can't move, she did something to our gems." Pearl said.
"Oh yeah right… okay, I'm gonna try something." Kal-Ven said as his eyes began to glow pink.
Kal-Ven then shot pink beams from his eyes and bathed the gems in the beam. The Gem groaned and slowly began to move getting to their feet.
"YEAH! Healing Vision!" Kal-Ven cheered.
"Thanks Kal-Ven." Garnet said making him smile.
"Yeah smart move there Stev-O." Amethyst said smacking his leg.
"You thought very fast Steven, well done. Now defuse and go with Lola back to the ship, while we handle this." Pearl said getting a small smile from Kal-Ven.
"… Pearl, we can't do that." Kal-Ven says
"WHAT?!" Pearl shrieks.
"Steven wants to do this, he wants to fight. He has a plan that can work. But it's clear that Brainiac is stronger and smarter than Superman. But together we may just have enough to keep her on her toes." Kal-Ven said.
"Steven this is dangerous, you can't-!" Pearl said worried.
"Pearl….. You gotta trust us." Kal-Ven said with a sincere look.
Pearl looked at them unsure and then Garnet put a hand on her shoulder.
"Pearl….. I can't see the future. But I do have faith in these two." Garnet says.
Pearl looks to Garnet and then to Kal-Ven and nods.
"Pearl, if there is even a moment I think Steven can't handle this or we face an attack that will hurt him. I will get him out of there." Kal-Ven said but by the tone it was clearly Superman speaking making Pearl smile.
"So what is this plan Steven came up with?" Amethyst asked.
"Oh… it's…. coming along." Kal-Ven said nervously.
"You don't have a plan." Garnet said deadpanned.
"We do… kinda." Kal-Ven said.
"Were you just bluffing when you said you knew her weakness?" Pearl asked.
"No he wasn't bluffing, we know here weakness… hopefully. We know what we need to do, we just aren't sure on how to get to from point A to point B." Kal-Ven explained not instilling much faith in the team.
"Listen we got this, leave Brainiac to us. You guys need to take these cities and get back to Earth, then maybe we can figure out a way to regrow them." Kal-Ven said.
"It's not permanent." Lola said making them turn to her with surprised expressions.
"I mean it's not permanent yet, for Beach City at least. If we can get back to where it originally was before shrinking, and you pull on this thing at the top, the dome will break and the city will return to its original size. But we have to do it within 7 minutes or the shrinking will be permanent." Lola said holding up the Beach City bottle.
"What about Kandor?" Kal-Ven asked.
"It's been too long, if we break the dome they'll be exposed to who knows what kind of Microbes in the air. It would be safer to keep them in the bottle, but I believe we can find a way to bring them back to normal size." Lola said hopefully looking at the bottled city of Kandor making Kal-Ven smile.
"Alright we'll take Kal's ship back to Earth." Amethyst said.
"No, Lola's taking the ship, she needs to stop the sun destroyer." Kal-Ven said putting a hand on a surprised Lola's shoulder.
"WHAT?!" Lola yelped.
"You can fly that ship better than me….. Or us. You can catch up with the sun destroyer and stop it from…. Destroyer the sun." Kal-Ven said.
"Master… Kal-Ven I'm not sure if…" Lola said.
"Lola, we believe in you. We believe in all of you. We can do this." Kal-Ven said proudly looking at their friends.
"I'll stop those sun destroyers." Lola said boldly.
"And we'll handle Beach City." Garnet said.
"7 minutes is more than enough." Amethyst said.
"There may be a way for us to take control of this ship and bring it back down to Earth." Pearl said.
"That is not going to happen." Brainiac said as the wires shot down into the hole and she picked herself up out of the hole.
"Was that your plan Steven? To punch us into a hole?" Brainiac sneered looking unharmed.
"The names Kal-Ven, and that was only step one of our master plan." Kal-Ven said confidently.
"Oh you mean the plan that is still in development?" Brainiac mocked.
"Oh-oh, you heard that?" Kal-Ven said with a nervous laugh.
"Do you honestly believe this little band of misfits can stop our grand design?" Brainiac asked.
"We do, because we believe in something bigger than ourselves." Kal-Ven said taking a stance ready to go.
"LOLA GO NOW!" Garnet yelled.
Lola didn't hesitate running full tilt towards the door past Brainiac. Brainiac narrowed her eyes at her before shooting out a tentacle towards her. However before it could touch, her Kal-Ven zoomed in front of her, his Super-Shield raised deflecting the tentacle away.
"I don't think so." Kal-Ven said with a smirk as Brainiac growled.
"Metallo!" Brainiac yelled as Metallo picked himself up and readied to tackle Lola.
"No." Garnet said as she came in and kicked him in the face sending him across the room
Lola smiled at Garnet as she ran out of the room, Brainiac groaned in annoyance.
"No matter, she'll just have a first row seat to being incinerated." Brainiac said.
"Says you, she's gonna stop those things easy peasy." Kal-Ven said.
"That faith will be your undoing. Now why don't you just unfuse so we can begin the consciousness transfer and we can put this whole idiotic stunt behind us?" Brainiac said though at the moment Kal-Ven was focusing on the wires connected to her body.
"This isn't a stunt Brainiac, this is us fighting back!" Kal-Ven said with a smirk as Brainiac frowned.
"I said you were impressive Steven, but you are far from our level even with this little…. Thing you have with the Kryptonian. If a fight is what it will take to assert our dominance and for you to learn your place, so be it." Brainiac said as she opened her palms.
"Good! Why don't we take this outside? GUYS, USE THE WIRES!" Kal-Ven yelled to the gems.
Before Brainiac could react Kal-Ven took a deep breath and released a torrent of Super Breath at her. Brainiac was blown back slamming onto the ceiling as Kal-Ven blew. She grunted, groaned, and strained, trying to move but unable to due to the force of the winds. And then she felt a chill. Brainiac looked to see her body was being encased in ice. Kal-Ven stopped once she and her cables were encased in ice.
"YOU GUYS GOT THIS!" Kal-Ven said to his friends as he gave them the thumbs up.
And then with a massive BOOM, Kal-Ven bolted toward Brainiac, tackling her through the frozen ceiling which shattered like glass into the coldness of space. The gems held onto the floor as the void tried to suck them up, only for a force field to activate stopping it. Taking a moment to breathe Pearl thought about what Kal-Ven said.
"GUYS USE THE WIRES!"
Pearls eyes widened as she looked up towards the massive hole seeing the hanging cables most of them were damaged beyond use. But there were two that looked perfectly fine. Pearl jumped up to grab them, only for Metallo to grab her foot. Pearl yelped as she was pulled down towards the ground. Lucky for her Amethyst was ready as well, wrapping her whip around Metallo's leg and slamming him into a wall as she caught Pearl. The Crystal gems regrouped as Metallo rose glaring at them all. As the gems were focused on Metallo they suddenly heard a massive creak, the sound of something opening. They turned around towards the doorway to see a massive shadow moving in the other room. And soon that shadow entered the room and enveloped them as they looked up in awe.
Space
Kal-Ven tumbled through the void trying to correct himself in the air, or lack thereof. Speaking of lacking air, Kal-Ven realized he was just blasted out into space. He flailed a bit realizing he couldn't breathe, though he felt cold, he wasn't freezing. Overall he was fine aside from there being no oxygen. Kal-Ven's eyes then lit up is realization, he looked to his waist and the star that was there. He quickly pressed it like it was a button getting a click, and from the collar of his suit a blue light enveloped his head. Kal-Ven took a relieved breath as he now had on some kind of energy helmet. Kal-Ven quickly scanned the area and the wreckage of the ceiling looking for Brainiac, he did however look back at her ship for a moment. And then he saw the small Kryptonian ship zoom out of Brainiac's ship and past Earth to chase the sun destroyer. Kal-Ven smiled as he watched the ship streak across the sky.
But then something slammed into his back hard, he screamed out in his helmet as he was sent flying towards the moon. He turned around just as he was hit to see Brainiac lashed at him with a tentacle from her back and looked to be making her way back to the ship. Before it could recoil back to her, Kal-Ven grabbed the tentacle that hit him sending him and Brainiac onto the moon's surface. The two crashed onto the surface with a silent bang echoing through the void, a huge plume of moon dust kicked up from the impact. Kal-Ven picked himself up out of the crater with a groan swiping at the dust that was obscuring his vision. He was then met by the view of the moon, he looked on in awe at the scene before him. Then he heard something and quickly moved to the side spinning around to see another tentacle lashing at him. Brainiac was looking at him with an angry gaze teeth bare. Then Brainiac had a face like she realized what she looked like, she then took a breath and regained her composure as her tentacle returned looking at Kal-Ven with a cold calculated look.
Kal-Ven got into a stance as Brainiac stood before him, arms crossed, lashing out with the robotic limbs. Kal-Ven ducked under the first swipe, and moved to the right to dodge another. Kal-Ven then began to run circling Brainiac who simply looked at him annoyed as she continued to send the four tentacles from her back at him. Kal-Ven ran and dodged the swipes at him, he then picked up a moon rock and threw it to the side of Brainiac's head. Brainiac simply backhanded the rock into dust her eyes darting to where the rock came from only to see nothing. Using his super speed Kal-Ven circled around Brainiac and then zoomed forward delivering a kick to her back that sent her flying out of the crater.
Kal-Ven followed jumping after her, he flailed a little realizing that he was going higher than he wanted due to the low gravity. Brainiac picked herself and watched as Kal-Ven comically soared overhead flailing as he did. Brainiac narrowed her eyes at the fusion and shot her cables at him wrapping around their legs. Kal-Ven yelped as he was pulled back down to the moon's surface and slammed into the ground. The cable then pulled him along the surface of the moon, slamming him through a hill until he was again brought up and slammed into the ground again. Kal-Ven was then lifted into a few feet off the ground by his foot. Kal-Ven shook the cobwebs out of his head and looked forward to see Brainiac walking towards him. Kal-Ven looked down to the tentacle around his ankle seeing it slowly creeping up his leg. Kal-Ven had a panicked look on his face when his eyes began to glow red, then he fired a stream of Heat vision through the energy helmet and slicing the tentacle off his leg. Brainiac had a shocked look on her face as she recalled her tentacle as Kal-Ven fell to the ground.
Kal-Ven quickly got to his feet and fired his heat vision at Brainiac without a moment of hesitation. The blast hit her chest, sending her flying farther back, skidding across the Moon. Kal-Ven then removed the bit of cable from his ankle and charged forward, as he ran he came upon a massive rock and smiled. Brainiac picked herself out of the moon surface her eye twitching in agitation. She then noticed that a shadow was over her, her head shot up in time to see a massive moon rock coming at her. With a massive CRASH she was buried under it with Kal-Ven atop it. Kal-Ven let out a sigh, even though it couldn't be heard due to them being in the void.
At that moment a purple beam shot through the rock and impacted on his chest sending him into the sky. Kal-Ven screamed and flailed as he flew upwards only to stop when the metal cables wrapped around his waist. Brainiac then exploded from the Rock and pulled Kal-Ven back down burying him in the moon head first. Brainiac then attempted to pull Kal-Ven out, but then felt some resistance. She then slowly began to be pulled towards the hole, Brainiac had to let go or be dragged in. Brainiac stumbled back with an annoyed look on her face, when suddenly a beam of heat vision shot up from the ground behind her. Brainiac watched as the beam circle around her before dissipating. Then the ground beneath her began to shake and the chunk of moon she stood on was lifted up in the air with her along with it. Kal-Ven was under the chink lifting it into the air, he then spun it upside and sent it back to the surface, pinning Brainiac between the surface and the moon chunk. Kal-Ven then launched themselves into the air and once he was high enough shot down towards the chunk going through it and reaching Brainiac.
Kal-Ven then began to tunnel himself and Brainiac through the moon exploding out the light side of the moon. A shocking sight to anyone looking at the moon on Earth seeing what looked like a small explosion on the moon's face. The two tumbled across the flying debris of moon rocks, Kal-Ven then grabbed Brainiac's ankle, and with a quick spin, threw her back into the hole they just made. Kal-Ven then fired the pink beams from his eyes and they collided with the hole. Just then all the debris they made stopped in place and glowed pink. The debris then began to quickly fly back to the moon, and like puzzle pieces, snap back into where they once were looking like they were never broken. As the Hole repaired itself, Brainiac was caught inside being buried in the repairing hole, until the damage they've done by going through the moon was undone. Kal-Ven mentally patted himself on the back for his plan working as he floated over the moon looking down at the fixed hole. Then for a moment he looked down on the surface and saw two things.
One he recognized was the Apollo 11 Luna Module with the American Flag next to it, luckily it wasn't damaged by the fight. Both sides of Kal-Ven felt a swell of pride as they looked at the footprints of the first men on the moon, but these prints led to the second thing Kal-Ven saw. The footprints started from the Rocket, then to the flag, and then went further away from the craft to something else. The only way Kal-Ven could describe it was a tower, a tower on the moon and it didn't look like anything a human could make. But the Steven part of Kal-Ven did recognize its build to gem structures on Earth. But before Kal-Ven could ponder it any further, Brainiac exploded from the moon, creating a small crater, and tackled Kal-Ven.
Kal-Ven grunted as Brainiac pulled them away from the moon gravity and towards Earth. Brainiac then threw Kal-Ven towards a black satellite, the fusion managed to correct himself in the air bouncing off the top of it instead of crashing through it. Brainiac gritted her teeth as she released her tentacles again this time grabbing the Satellite and throwing at Kal-Ven. Kal-Ven eyes widened as he saw the black satellite and the words 'Wayne Enterprise' coming at him. Kal-Ven managed to hold out his hands and catch the thing before it could hit him, but then Brainiac came in dropkicking through the Satellite onto Kal-Ven's abs sending him flying into Earth's Atmosphere. Though just as the dropkick impacted Kal-Ven grabbed Brainiac's legs and pulled her along for the ride. The two fell along with the wreckage of the satellite as brilliant balls of fire entering and exiting the Earth's atmosphere. The fight was now on Earth.
Beach City
A massive explosion rang out through the town as a grenade impacted on the robo-Spider's leg exploding it into pieces sending it crashing into the ground.
"EVERYONE, FIND COVER, GET OUT OF THE OPEN! GET UNDERGROUND IF YOU HAVE TO!" Sam Lane yelled as he and other soldiers held the line firing at the robot spiders.
Many of the citizens were retreating behind the soldiers onto the beach as the robots marched forward their eyes glowing red. One of the spiders lashed out attacking one of the soldiers sending him screaming into a building, another was grabbed and thrown overhead. Tentacles shot out going past the soldiers and grabbing some of the running citizens to get a sample and then tossing them aside. In the crowd of running citizens Vidalia, Sour Cream, and Onion were among them. Vidalia, while holding onto the youngest hand, suddenly lost her grip as he fell behind.
"ONION!" Vidalia yelled trying to reach her child but was being pushed back by the crowd.
The young child fell behind the crowd just as a tentacle lashed out to get him, luckily for him Lois rushed in, grabbing him and getting him out of the way. The two rolled across the street with Lois on her back and Onion on top.
"You okay?" Lois asked getting only a blank stare from the child which weirded her out a bit.
Then from behind him she saw another cable come at them. She scurried back letting the cable go between her legs slicing her skirt. She then quickly rolled to her feet and carried Onion running to the crowd.
"RUN! DON'T STOP, RUN!" Lois yelled to Vidalia holding her son.
The spider tried to go after but got a grenade to the neck from Sam Lane blowing its head off.
"KEEP HIM SAFE! MAKE SURE YOU STAY WITH THE OTHERS!" Sam yelled at Lois as she ran and he faced the oncoming horde.
Brainiac's Spaceship
The gems looked up in pure awe at what they were looking at, honestly the only way they could describe it was as a-.
"GIANT FREAKING SPIDER!" Amethyst yelled.
"Hello, Crystal Fools!" Brainiac's voice spoke through a speaker in the room getting their attention.
"Since I need to deal with Steven and this unruly Kryptonian, before I was separated from the ship I decided to leave this last command as well something to attend to the rest of you along with my Metallo. BEHOLD MY THANAGUARIAN SNARE BEAST!" Brainiac said.
The beast before them had eight long razor like legs, a large lower body and a smaller upper body. It had eight cold unfeeling red eyes, a mouth dripping with slime and two sharp mandibles on both sides of its mouth. It let out a hiss as it loomed forward showing its red and black body, around its neck was a large tuft of white fur and on its body was a white design that looked like a Skull. The Beast let out a roar at the three spitting out a lot of slime at them.
"Dude, its giant Spider." Amethyst said not impressed by the name.
"They are quite a vicious species, one of these would give a group of trained Quartz soldier's trouble. I tried to train it to be my attack slave, but it appears their minds are too primitive for my control. Still I found a use for him in dealing with unneeded materials. It has been awhile since I last fed him, at this point he'll eat anything organic or not." Brainiac said sinisterly as the creature got closer, just at the same time Metallo rose and approached the group.
"Oh Metallo, if you can keep one of them alive. I need a new gem soldier. You know if it's convenient for you." Brainiac's voice said with a giggle before vanishing.
"Gems get ready!" Garnet said as she faced Metallo with Pearl and Amethyst facing the beast.
Metallo charged Garnet as she met him fist colliding, while Amethyst and Pearl dodged an oncoming leg trying to smash them. The beast roared as it stomped about trying to smash the gems that ran underneath it, narrowly dodging its legs as it thrashed about. At the Same time Garnet and Metallo were engaged in a fist fight. Garnet moving like a seasoned boxer swayed weaved through Metallo's vicious Punches, getting close enough to deliver an uppercut to his chin. Which opened him up to two quick jabs to his mid-section followed by a hook to his side that sent him skidding away. Garnet looked to keep up the momentum but was stopped when a massive spider leg smashed in front of her making her stop. And once it moved Metallo came charging forward with a punch to the face that sent Garnet flying back.
Pearl back flipped to dodge an oncoming leg, while Amethyst rolled out of the way. Amethyst summoned her whip and lashed it out at one of the legs creating a cut that had green ooze coming out of it the beast letting out a pained roar.
"HOW YA LIKE THAT, YA BIG UGLY BUG!" Amethyst said with a laugh as she twirled her whip and lashed it out at two more of its legs the roars getting louder.
However when she went for a third her arm felt like it was caught on something. Amethyst looked to her arm and saw that attached to it was some kind of yellow goo that led up.
"What the-?" Amethyst questioned until a similar goo THWAPPED itself on her head, her other arm, and back.
Amethyst struggled trying to rip the stuff off until the goo suddenly began pulling her upward. Amethyst let out a scream as she dropped her whip. Pearl looked up to see the ascending Amethyst, but also that this goo came from the under belly of the Beast from its large lower body and was now bringing Amethyst up to a group of spindly legs on it's under belly that would no doubt tear her apart. Pearl summoned her spear and ran to a leg climbing up it and then launching herself off it towards Amethyst. Pearl flew past Amethyst with a quick twirl of her spear that sliced through the goo allowing Amethyst to fall to the ground. Before Pearl could start her descent the same type of goop stuck to her arm and began to pull her up. Pearl swung her spear at the arms reaching for her, when Amethyst wrapped her whip around Pearl's ankle and tried to pull her back down. Pearl knew this wasn't going to work and thought fast.
"Amethyst, get ready, I'm gonna swing you atop this thing! Pull me up once you're there!" Pearl yelled getting a grin and a nod from Amethyst.
Pearl did as she said and began to swing herself while fighting off the beast arms reaching for her, Amethyst helping her gain momentum. Then with a forceful grunt Pearl kicked her leg and Amethyst was sent flying upward. She landed atop the massive beast and then began pulling on her whip. At that moment Pearl cut the goop off and let Amethyst pull her along soon being over the beast and Amethyst where she freed her ankle and gracefully landing beside Amethyst.
"Nice moves." Amethyst complimented making Pearl smile. Just as the Beast let out a roar knowing the two were atop it.
"Don't like us up here!? Well you are really not gonna like it soon!" Amethyst said as she and Pearl raised their weapons.
Back on the ground Garnet had summoned her gauntlets and were blocking a flurry of vicious punches from Metallo. Garnet grunted as she was forced back by Metallo, then behind her visor Garnet's eyes widened. Garnet ducked under a hook aimed for her head and then back flipped away. Metallo was going to advance but was then smashed into the ground by one of the Spider's legs. Once it moved off him he began to get up slowly having taken damaged from the blow. Garnet had leapt towards him and fired an overhead punch to the back of Metallo's head sending him back to the ground. Garnet then grabbed the back of Metallo's with one hand and his waist with another, Garnet with a grunt spun Metallo around and threw him towards a wall, only for him to crash into one of the Spider's leg breaking it with a CRACK and getting a pained roar as green ooze spewed onto the floor.
Garnet side stepped the oncoming ooze in disgust but then faced Metallo getting ready to attack only for a familiar yellow goop to stick to her hand. Garnet felt it trying to pull her up and fought against it trying to get her hand free straining as she did. But she left herself open for Metallo who ran in and delivered a hook to her face sending her flying to the side. Garnet grunted as she flew but then was being pulled up by the Goop, only for Metallo to grab her by the ankle and pull her back down. Garnet gagged when Metallo wrapped his massive hand around her neck, and then began throwing punches to her exposed face, knocking off her visor. Garnet tried to kick but couldn't get into position. The beast let out a pained roar, something clearing happening to it, distracting Metallo. Using the Moment Garnet yelled as she pulled on the goop with all her strength pulling it to the point where it snapped. Garnet then punched Metallo with the same hand sending him back, though the goop on her hand was no attached to his chest.
Garnet smirked pulling him forward with the goop and then punching him back again. Garnet did it a few more times treating Metallo like a paddle ball until she then began to spin him around and then slam him through the floor. Garnet pulled him back up and towards her again, where she planted her feet and reared her fist back.
POW!
Garnet delivered an uppercut to Metallo's mid-section that shook the whole room and dented his armor. He let out a pained gag as he flew up into the underbelly of the beast slamming into it making the beast cry out in pain, the goop connecting them snapping at the same time. Garnet smirked at the work she's done, but knew it was far from over.
Space
The Kryptonian craft rocketed through the void going as fast as it can to reach the sun and save it. Though on odd thing to note was that Lola was currently out of the craft sitting atop it working on a strange device, not minding the thousands of G's she must be feeling.
"Good thing Brainiac didn't detonate these when she tried to shoot us down. It's almost poetic that her own tech will be her downfall." Lola thought as she tinkered with the device.
"Just a few quick modifications and we'll be ready to go. I won't let you down Kal-El, and I won't let Steven and the crystal gems down either. And I know you won't let the Earth down, show her what being a Kryptonian is all about." Lola thought as she looked forward to see a glimmer in the void getting closer.
Earth, Arizona
Many people looked up to the sight of what looked to be a meteor shower coming to Earth, they watched as the fireballs soared towards the planet and crashed miles away in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. Far from civilization multiple craters littered the desert each having a piece of the destroyed satellite in them. But the biggest crater had something else. Kal-Ven picked himself out of the crater and examined the area around him, pressing the belt and dissipating the helmet he had.
"Huh, back on Earth. I'm happy I can breathe again." Kal-Ven said taking a deep breath.
"So happy you are comfortable." Brainiac said as Kal-Ven turned around to face her.
"While we are forced to stand on this disgusting planet." Brainiac hissed as she lifted herself out of the crater with her tentacles.
"I thought you'd want to, you know, see the planet you were trying to destroy." Kal-Ven said with a smirk.
"We already know more about this planet than you do." Brainiac shot back.
"Have you ever stepped on any of the planets you've 'saved'?" Kal-Ven asked.
"Such a thing is beneath us. We can learn all we need from a planet without ever entering the atmosphere. And you are beneath such childish games, now defuse and come with us so we may leave this doomed rock." Brainiac said as she moved towards him.
"You say this planet is doomed, and I'll admit that we have problems. But problems can solved, look around you, can't you see the potential of this world? If you're so smart, can't you come up with a way to help us, to show us there's a better way?" Kal-Ven pleaded.
"Such a thing would be pointless. Let us tell you something you're going to learn in time, Species-Don't-Change! No matter how much they 'evolve', no matter the technological advances, or their progress, no species can change beyond the base instincts they were given from the day they became multi-celled organisms. Human's will always be self-destructive savages, just like the gems will always be narrow-minded pawns afraid of true progress." Brainiac says coldly.
"But…. You're a gem and you changed. Why can't other people?" Kal-Ven asked.
"There was no change needed. We were created to surpass those who came before, just like you. You are beyond humanity, just like we are beyond gem-kind. And if there is anything we can thank our ignorant leaders for teaching us, is that those on top don't need to fret about those below them." Brainiac said with a smirk as Kal-Ven narrowed her eyes at her.
"You're wrong! People can change, and just because you have an advantage over them doesn't mean you can make others pawns on your chess board. So I'll ask you once, stop this insanity and return Beach City to its regular size. I will fight you for the Earth and for Tomorrow!" Kal-Ven says raising his fists.
"Oh hohoho! Alright Steven, we were taking it easy on you up there. Though we will admit this fusion is very powerful, do you really think you can defeat us? You two, a hybrid and Kryptonian, whose combined lifespans are barely half of ours. We have travelled the cosmos learning ways of battle your little minds haven't even conceived yet." Brainiac said as she began to raise herself above the fusion.
"KAL-VEN OF EARTH, THIS BATTLE IS ALREADY OVER. FROM THAT SHORT EXCHANGE ON EARTH'S MOON WE HAVE ALREADY CALCULATED YOUR LIMITS." Brainiac spoke in a booming voice looking down at the two.
"WE HAVE ALREADY MATCHED YOUR STRENGTH, BUT YOU CANNOT MATCH OUR INTELLECT!" Brainiac said raising her hands and two of her tentacles.
Kal-Ven glared at her clenching his fists. But then his grip softened and he stood straight looking at her..
"That's a super impressive resume you have there, but I have one question. What's that thing on your face?" Kal-Ven said point at her face.
"What thing on our-?" Brainiac said reaching for her face looking for what he was pointing at until-.
BAM
Kal-Ven zoomed forward plowing his fist into cheek of a Surprised Brainiac contorting her green flesh around his punch.
"MY FIST!" Kal-Ven said as he summoned up his strength and pushed her off sending her flying into the air with a boom.
Kal-Ven took off after her with a similar boom cracking the ground underneath them as they took off. They soared through the clouds chasing after the tumbling Brainiac. Once in sight Kal-Ven sped up and delivered a punch to her gut that sent her flying farther away, he sped up again and delivered another sending her even farther.
"I just gotta keep her occupied long enough. And hope Steven's hunch pans out." Kal-Ven thinks as he goes for another punch.
Only for one of Brainiac's tentacles to lash out at him. He catches it before it can reach his face, but another wraps around his waist and pulls him close to a very angry Brainiac. She reared her fist back and hit Kal-Ven with a hook across his cheek making him grunt. Before she could go for another Kal-Ven punched her in the nose. She let out a pained and angry scream as she tried to claw at his face, only for Kal-Ven to block it with his forearm and then fire a punch to her gut. Kal-Ven could feel that they were falling and tried to fly and off the ground, only Brainiac delivered a punch to his nose breaking his concentration. Kal-Ven saw they were falling into a town, but couldn't stop as he and Brainiac were engaged in a falling brawl throwing punches as they descended to the town below.
Brainiac's ship
Amethyst slammed onto a wall before falling to the ground with a groan. Metallo then walked over and planted his foot on Amethyst face pinning her down as he looked down at her coldly.
"Is-that-all you-GOT!' Amethyst groaned.
Metallo raised his boot ready to smash her head in, only for Garnet to Punch him and pin him to the wall. Amethyst rolled onto her feet and watched as Metallo elbowed Garnet's face making her stumble back. Amethyst took the moment to use her spin dash and fly right into his chest and keep him pinned. Garnet then ran up and uppercutted his chin sending him flying upward, Amethyst the wrapped her whip around his ankle stopping him. She then roared pulling on his leg and slamming him against the ground.
Pearl embedded her spear into a wall and locked eyes the giant beast, as it roared and raised one of its legs to smash her. Pearl launched herself off of the spear allowing the leg to smash into the wall. Pearl then landed on the leg gracefully summoning another spear as she did and charges towards the monsters face. It roars and from its mouth it spits out a wide spread shot of goop at her. Seeing this pearl stopped and jumped off the leg to land on the ground, she landed next to the downed Metallo and then backed flipped towards her friends
"PEARL!" Garnet yelled as Metallo reached out and grabbed Pearl's ankle.
Pearl screamed as she was slammed to the ground and Metallo rose. He then viciously slammed Pearl against the ground many times before throwing her to one of the Krypton's displays smashing it and letting the items fall to the floor. Amethyst charged narrowly dodging an oncoming leg trying to smash her and leapt up at Metallo whip at the ready.
Small Town, Oklahoma
In this small suburban neighborhood, people went about their business without a care in the world. Jobs were being done, children played, and cars drove down the small streets. Then that peace was shattered when something fell from the sky onto the middle of the road. The car luckily hit the brakes before they could get in its path, the drivers looked at the massive cloud of destroyed crushed asphalt and dust. From the cloud Kal-Ven emerged coughing a swatting the dust away from his face placing a hand on the hood of a car before him. Kal-Ven and the driver locked eyes for a moment until
"LOOK OUT!" the driver yelled as a tentacle emerged from the cloud as well.
It grabbed Kal-Ven by the back of the head and slammed it down onto the hood of the car putting a dent in it. A second tentacle emerged and wrapped around Kal-Ven's waist pulling him into the cloud. Kal-Ven was then thrown down the street bouncing off the asphalt cracking and finally landing back first onto the back of a car putting a massive dent in there and pushing it forward into an intersection where all the other cars stopped upon seeing it. Kal-Ven shook the blow off and watched as Brainiac blew away the duct with her tentacles and glared at Kal-Ven. The surrounding people began to panic and scream not understanding what was happening but knowing there was danger about.
"EVERYONE GET OFF THE STREET! IT'S NOT SAFE, FIND COVER!" Kal-Ven yelled pulling himself out of the car.
Kal-Ven then heard a scream making him turn around there was a woman in the car he hit, and it appears that the blow has trapped her. Kal-Ven then turned to see two of Brainiac's tentacles flying right at him. With amazing speed Kal-Ven caught both with his hands before they could reach him, then with a grunt Kal-Ven pulled on them with all his might. Brainiac yelped as she was pulled forward towards Kal-Ven, once close enough Kal-Ven reared his head back and head-butted Brainiac in the chest sending her flying farther back down the street. Kal-Ven took a moment to shake off the head-butt, before quickly zooming towards the driver seat of the car. Kal-Ven the tore open the door and ripped the seat belt before helping the woman out of the car.
"Spread the word, get to cover, help anyone you can." Kal-Ven said making the woman nod as she ran off the street.
Kal-Ven turned to face Brainiac, only to audibly gasp seeing Brainiac lift a car overhead filled with a family screaming and begging for help.
"You care about these human? Let's see how much!" Brainiac said as she threw the car at Kal-Ven.
Kal-Ven let out a panicked yelp as he held out his hands and caught the car before any damage could be done to it.
"It's okay I got you." Kal-Ven said trying to calm them as he held them and they continued to scream.
Brainiac then slammed two of her tentacles into his abdomen sending him skidding back though he still held the car overhead. He let out a pained gasp as he kept holding the car, he saw Brainiac was rushing forward towards them with a kick. Before it could hit the fusions modified shield returned floating in front of them letting Brainiac's foot meet it. Brainiac jumped of the shield with a confused expression as the shield began to glow after her attack, the shield then vanished and the light went into the Gem under Kal-Ven's clothes the glow easily seen. Kal-Ven then felt a sudden surge of energy, he managed to focus bringing the energy into his eyes. He then fired a massive beam of Heat Vision at Brainiac sending her flying back. Kal-Ven seeing he had a moment put the car down and went to the driver's seat.
"Sir you and your family-!" Kal-Ven started but then the car took off down the street leaving Kal-Ven in the dust.
"Okay… you're welcome." Kal-Ven said a little hurt.
Then the tentacles wrapped around his waist and pulled him away with a yelp. Brainiac pulled him close and backhanded him across the face getting a pained grunt. Brainiac then grabbed him by the hair and repeatedly punched his face.
"YOU-WILL-SUBMIT!" Brainiac said between punches.
"Not in your life!" Kal-Ven said grabbing her fist and then head-butting her in the nose making her scream out.
Kal-Ven freed himself and Punched Brainiac into an empty park. Kal-Ven leapt up into the air and then came down atop of Brainiac and delivered a punch to her face. Brainiac retaliated with a punch to his gut making him double over and then a kick sending him into a swing set. Kal-Ven shook off the blow and then grabbed the swing tearing the chains off the foundation. Brainiac came in and tried to punch Kal-Ven only for him to side step and tied to swing chains around her wrist. Kal-Ven then pulled her forward and kneed her twice in the abdomen, before hitting her with an elbow to the back of the head. Brainiac let out an angry roar as she quickly snapped the chains and grabbed Kal-Ven's legs throwing him to the side. Kal-Ven skid across the ground stopping on his back. Before he could stand Brainiac's gems began to glow and then from the middle of the triangle a purple beam shot out of it. The beam connected with Kal-Ven's chest making him scream in pain as the beam pushed him across the ground. Brainiac focused on the fusion with an angry look until.
"WAAAAHHH!"
Brainiac let out a pained scream as she held her ears the beam stopping, she turned to see a lone crying child standing out in the open.
"DADDY, DADDY WHERE ARE YOU I'M SCARED!" The boy cried.
"You." Brainiac seethed.
"SHUT UP!" Brainiac shrieked as she fired a massive beam at the child.
The child looked forward wide eyed and with tears as the massive beam approached him. Suddenly there was a blur and the child was in a gentle embrace. Kal-Ven picked up the child and quickly summoned his shield letting the Beam hit it. Kal-Ven yelled as he held back the beam the ground around them getting scorched but nothing behind the shield. Then the beam stopped as the Shield glowed brightly before returning to his gem. Kal-Ven stared down the angry Brainiac with an intense glare.
"Oh my god."
Kal-Ven turned to see a man standing a distance away, within a second Kal-Ven was in front of the man still holding the child
"He's alright sir." Kal-Ven said handing him the child who quickly took him and embraced him
"Thank you." The man said before running away.
"That is your weakness." Brainiac said getting Kal-Ven's attention.
"This… morality you process is a genetic defect. A waste of mental space from a lower rung of evolutionary development. Something that needs to be removed if any progress is to be made. That's why you're never going to reach your full potential. And that is why you'll never defeat us, we are you evolutionarily superior. And if there's anything history has proven, is that evolution always wins." Brainiac said sinisterly.
"Is that so?" Kal-Ven said simply.
Then in a second he was floating in front of Brainiac at eye level startling her. He then grabbed her by the collar.
"Then why don't you put this in your little archive, because you're about to have a first row seat of the Contrary." Kal-Ven said with a grin.
Before Brainiac could say anything Kal-Ven reared his fist back energy coursing through it and threw an uppercut into her gut. It resounded with a BOOM and a small burst of air that rippled through the small town.
"Ah-gah-ughga-." Brainiac gagged as she was lifted off her feet.
Kal-Ven then gripped the tentacles and took off into the sky with a boom, taking Brainiac along, and leaving the town with a massive boom as they disappeared into the clouds.
"Gotta get away from any people." Kal-Ven thought as the land blurred underneath him.
"This isn't working my plan isn't working." Kal-Ven said panicked sounding like Steven.
"You need to calm down, it hasn't been that long!" Kal-Ven said sounding more confident
"Okay, okay, your right. But we need to speed this up, we need something more direct, we need." Kal-Ven said as he looked down and smiled seeing a swamp.
"ENOUGH!" Brainiac yelled getting her baring as grabbing Kal-Ven by the shirt punching him in the nose stopping him from flying.
She then maneuvered herself over Kal-Ven and pushed herself off him sending her higher and him downwards. Once in the air she took off after the fusion spread out her tentacles and let out a banshee like shriek as she flew towards them ready to attack. Kal-Ven let out a panicked yelp as he saw Brainiac coming at him. Instinctively Kal-Ven reached for the symbol on his chest and it began to glow pink. Kal-Ven then swiped his arm from his crest at Brainiac and threw something at her.
"WHAT IN THE-!" Brainiac yelled her eyes widened in shock as it appeared to be the Star and Crest from Kal-Ven's suit flying at her
It wrapped around her body like Cellophane and tightened restricting her movements. She screamed inside it as Kal-Ven flew out of the way allowing her to fall into the Swamp.
"Yeah take that you jerk, Hahahahaha!" Kal-Ven laughed confidently until stopping for a moment to think about what just happened.
"Wait, whose power was that? Could any of us do that before? Why do we have that since we fused? What the heck even was that?!" Kal-Ven stammered in confusion but then remembered he had a job and zoomed back down towards the swamp.
Brainiac's ship
Pearl raised her spear and parried a punch from Metallo before swinging the base of her weapon hitting him in the face. Metallo growled grabbing the spear after being hit and then throwing Pearl to the side. Pearl landed on her feet and prepared to charge only to be caught in the goop of the Beast again and pulled her up. Garnet then leapt over Metallo and kicked him in the face before running after Pearl to catch her. As Metallo stumbled Amethyst charged in with her spin dash, sadly Metallo saw this coming and backhanded her to the side. Amethyst rolled across the floor stopping near the destroyed Kryptonian set. Amethyst groaned as she picked herself up seeing Metallo coming at her. Acting on Instinct Amethyst picked up whatever was near her and began throwing it at Metallo. Glass, Metal, some Kryptonian clothes, a things she didn't know what it was. She threw it all and nothing stopped him, Amethyst then stood up and without thinking picked up something else it appeared to be a black handheld spotlight.
Amethyst lifted the object over her head grabbing it by the handles getting ready to throw it at Metallo. The spotlight part was facing up towards the Snare Beast, and with her grabbing the handles she accidently clicked a button. Suddenly the light turned on and engulfed the beast in the white light. Garnet managed to get Pearl down but no everyone was looking on in confusion, above them the Beast appeared to be roaring out in pain as it was bathed in the light. Then the beast began to break apart like it was getting sucked into something, and once most of its body was gone it was revealed that there was a massive crack above them. Not in the ceiling but the very air leading to some unknown zone, the crack sucked up the beast until there was nothing left. Then Pearl and Garnet began to float off the ground and quickly grabbed onto something as it appeared that the crack was trying to take them as well. Metallo grabbed onto the ground to make sure he didn't get sucked, Pearl grabbed onto the Bottled Beach City and Kandor with her legs.
"WHAT IS THAT?" Pearl yelled.
Amethyst was freaking out at the moment, but quickly put two and two together looking up at the device she held overhead. She quickly found the button and pressed it again, making the white light vanish. The Crack in the air began to repair itself and the suction stopped leaving everyone stunned.
"Amethyst…. What is that?" Garnet asked.
"I have no idea." Amethyst said with a nervous laugh.
Then Metallo knocked the machine out of her hands and lifted Amethyst by the neck nearly crushing it as she gagged and kick.
"JOHN CORBEN!" Garnet yelled getting his attention.
"You're a U.S. soldier! You're going to let her control you?!" Garnet said getting a growl from Metallo as he tightened his grip.
"Think of your country, your world… think of Lois!" Garnet said and Metallo's face softened.
"L-L-Lo-is-." John stammered and his grip weakened.
Capitalizing on the moment Amethyst summoned her whip and wrapped it around Metallo's wrists keeping them together. Amethyst then kicked off a confused Metallo's chest landing on her feet and running between his legs. She then ran around his legs tying them together.
"Garnet, Pearl give me a hand here!" Amethyst yelled as she threw the whip to Garnet and summoned two more.
Pearl ran forward taking the other whip and the two then began to tie Metallo up, he screamed and grunted as his entire body was covered by the thorny whip. Once he was covered Pearl and Amethyst split up each still holding the whip. Metallo was being held down by the three gems who pulled on the whips.
"Pin him down!" Pearl yelled as her gem glowed and two spears shot at it towards the other two.
Amethyst and Garnet caught the spears and with one last pull to make sure it was as tight as it could it. They then stabbed the spear into the whip making it work like a pin, Pearl doing the same. The tied up bundle squirmed and muffled roars could be heard, the gems examined him as they panted making sure he was trapped.
"Well-huff-that wasn't too much of a chore now was it?" Amethyst said exhausted getting deadpanned expressions from her team.
Pearl then leapt up and grabbed the wired bringing them back down to the two.
"Okay so how do we do this?" Amethyst asked.
"I think we attach these to our gems and we'll be able to log into whatever system she's using." Pearl said.
"Alright then let's do it." Amethyst said reaching out for one.
"H-Hold up now. Look at the size of this ship all the protocols that much be running at once, as much as I hate to admit it her mind was great. It would take someone of incredible mental fortitude to control all this at once, it could fry our gems if we tried." Pearl said.
"Well then, this looks like a job for me." Garnet said with a smile snatching the two wires and putting them on her two gems.
"GARNET!' Pearl and Amethyst yelled as energy coursed through Garnet and she let out a pained scream.
She grunted and strained gritting her teeth as the energy coursed through. Garnet was forced to her knees as she panted heavily, then it slowed. Garnet sat crossed legged with her palms out and breathed slowly but with some effort as the energy died down.
"W-we can-handle this. Just-need a minute, t-there's a lot here. We need to focus." Garnet said as she breathed her two comrades stood by worried but hopeful of their leaders victory.
Beach City
All the residents were pushed towards the Beach as the army fought, but it was clear that they were losing.
"We have nowhere else to run." Greg said.
"What are we going to do now?" Jimmy asked.
Lois looked on concerned seeing many military men be flung aside and the many robot spiders marching towards them.
"SEND THE CHILDREN AND INJURED TO THE BACK!" Lois yelled getting everyone's attention.
"ANYONE ABLE BODIED WITH ME!" Lois said.
"You're going to fight those things?" Greg yelled.
"Maybe if there's enough of us we can buy a few minutes, enough for you all to get off the beach and back into the city." Lois said.
"That is crazy!" Greg yelled.
"It ain't like we have a choice, we gotta do something." Jimmy said.
"Exactly, which is why you and Greg and going to stay with the kids." Lois said.
"WHAT?! Oh no, nononononono! You are not benching me, I ain't leaving you behind!" Jimmy said.
"Jimmy…. You gotta protect the kids." Lois said, Jimmy looked at Lois conflicted but then walked away passing the Maheswaran's who heard Lois's plan.
"Priyanka take Connie." Doug said..
"Doug?" Priyanka said confused
"Daddy?" Connie said terrified.
"I love the both of you." Doug said as he kissed both of the women of his life and ran to the front of the crowd.
"DOUG, NO!" Priyanka yelled only to be held back by Greg.
"He's trying to give you both a chance, don't let it go to waste!" Greg said trying to calm a crying Priyanka, Connie stood there with held breath and tears in her eyes not sure what to
"You sure about this?" Lois asked Doug as he joined the front with Vidalia, Fryman, Mr. Smiley and many other Beach City residents.
"No, but if my family has a chance I'll take it." Doug said terrified.
Then there was a BAM, everyone looked up to see a body fly from the boardwalk and land before them.
"Daddy?" Lois said shocked seeing the pained body of Sam Lane a massive gash on his chest spilling blood as he coughed out more.
"DADDY!" Lois yelled running towards him and cradling his head.
"DADDY, DADDY STAY WITH ME!" Lois yelled panicked.
"E-Ella….?" Sam let out with a pained gag
"N-no Daddy it's me, its Lois. Stay awake!" Lois yelled as she removed her jacket and pressed down on the wound.
"Ella…. I'm sorry. I couldn't protect our little girl, I couldn't even get her to like me." Sam gagged as he started to cry.
"Dad, Dad I do like you. I LOVE YOU, STAY WITH ME!" Lois yelled as she started to cry
"Ever since you died, I tried to raise them. But I was never like you, I couldn't give them the comfort they needed. They think I hate them, Lois thinks I wished she was a boy." Sam continued as Lois cried.
"I'm a failure." Sam said
"YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE! DAD STAY WITH ME, DAD!" Lois yelled as the robots moved forward.
Louisiana Swamp
Kal-Ven lowered himself into the mucky water of the swamp ankle deep in it. He breathed slowly as he used his enhanced senses to scan the area for Brainiac.
"Enough." Brainiac said in a whisper.
Suddenly from under the water something wrapped around Kal-Ven's ankle and lifted him up. Brainiac emerged from the tree line filled with rage as she pulled Kal-Ven towards her and then delivered a punch to his face.
"YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE FREAK!" Brainiac shrieked as she continuously punched Kal-Ven face making him a speed bag.
"I WAS GOING TO MAKE YOU A GOD! UNLOCK THINGS IN YOU THAT YOU COULDN'T AS YOU ARE! AND GIVE YOU WORLDS FAR MORE MAGNIFICENT THAN THIS DISGUSTING MUDBALL! AND HOW DO YOU THANK ME?!" Brainiac yelled as she then slammed Kal-Ven into the mud and began blasting him with her laser again.
"YOU HUMILIATE ME! BEAT ME! SUBJECT ME TO THIS DISGUSTING WORLD! AND FOR WHAT?! THESE DISGUSTING FLESH SACK SAVAGES!" Brainiac said as she continued to fire her beam at the fusion walking towards them. Once she was close she stomped down on his chest and stopped firing her laser.
"You know if I knew you were going to be this unruly, I would've just made my own hybrid. In fact I think I'll just go with that." Brainiac said with a manic grin as she raised her tentacles blades popping out of them.
"I just need a little sample, or just to be safe a VERY BIG ONE!" Brainiac said as she inched her blades closer to Kal-Ven's face.
Suddenly a small boom was heard, the two looked up towards the sun and saw what looked like a smaller sun shining next to it for a few minutes before vanishing.
"W-what?! No! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" Brainiac yelled.
Deep Space, Mercury
Lola laid atop of the ship letting out a relieved sigh as she looked at the explosion in the distance far enough away from the sun to do any damage. Lola couldn't help but laugh as she watched.
"I did my job Kal-El, now do yours." Lola thought as she looked back on the small blue marble in the distance.
Brainiac's Ship
"SHE DID IT! LOLA DID IT!" Amethyst cheered as she and Pearl saw the explosion.
"Yeah she really did." Pearl said ruffling Amethysts hair.
Suddenly the whole ship rumbled and Garnet had a small smile on her face.
"And we are moving." Garnet said as the Skull ship slowly began to leave the moon and head for Earth.
Earth, Louisiana
"HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?! THE CHANCES OF THAT LITTLE SERVANT SHARD MAKING IT IN THAT SCRAP HEAP OF A SHIP WAS A MILLION TO ONE!" Brainiac shrieked
"Still not zero." Kal-Ven quipped.
"SHUT UP!" Brainiac yelled going to stomp down again.
This time however Kal-Ven fired a quick blast of heat vision at her eyes, blinding her and making her scream out in pain. In this moment Kal-Ven rolled out of the way of the stomp letting her boot sink into the mud. Kal-Ven then brought his feet up and kicked Brainiac in the gut sending her flying back into the mud. The two got up and locked eyes.
"Do you have any idea, WHO I AM!?" Brainiac yelled.
"What happened to we?" Kal-Ven asked shocking Brainiac.
"I-w-we- YOU!" Brainiac growled before charging Kal-Ven.
Kal-Ven summoned his shield and blocked a strike from Brainiac countering with his own to her gut. Brainiac gagged and then fired a knee into the fusions chin sending his head back, before grabbing his collar. She then punched and backhanded him, before punching him in the chest. Kal-Ven screamed as he flew threw a tree destroying it and landed in the water. Brainiac leapt up and then came down atop of the fusion her tentacles at the ready to stab him. Kal-Ven yelped as he rolled out of the way letting them embed themselves in the murky water floor. Brainiac still keeping herself above Kal-Ven with the tentacles then began to furiously use them to try and impale him. The fusion danced around the flurry of strikes narrowly dodging each as he stood under Brainiac. He then leapt out from under her getting behind her and then fired a stream of heat vision at her back. The beam sliced through the tentacles on her back serving them. Brainiac let out a scream as she fell into the murky waters and her tentacles became lifeless falling as well.
Brainiac picked herself out of the water coughing and sputtering, until she turned to face the fusion. Kal-Ven took a deep breath and then released his Freeze Breath on her turning the water around her and on her into ice freezing her in place. Kal-Ven then ran forward with a battle cry delivering a double handed smash to the side of Brainiac's face shattering the ice and sending her flying into the tree line.
"Steven saw it when he was on your ship. It was a hunch, but based on your composure it's panning out." Kal-Ven said as he walked forward.
Brainiac roared out in anger throwing a broken tree at Kal-Ven who summoned his shield and batted it aside into the water. But that moment was what Brainiac needed rushing forward and tackling the fusion towards a tree where they started to furiously punch his face. Kal-Ven took a few before catching a fist in his hands.
"You don't know the world you 'saved' you just know your safe bottled versions of them, all from your cushy spaceship." Kal-Ven said as Brainiac threw another punch which he caught.
"I don't just think that you never step on the planets, I think it's probably been years since you stepped off that ship!" Kal-Ven said before head-butting Brainiac in the sending her head back.
Kal-Ven threw two strong hooks knocking Brainiac's head from side to side, just before Brainiac drove her knee into his gut making him back off. She then grabbed him by the hair and fired her laser into his face getting a pained screamed from him. She then slammed him against a tree.
"You have data, scientific knowledge, but you have no real sense of life." Kal-Ven said gripping her hand.
"LIFE DOES NOT MATTER! ONLY I MATTER! EVERYTHING ELSE IS EITHER A FRACTION OR HINDRANCE TO MY ASCENSION! I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU, THIS WORLD, OR-!" Brainiac yelled until she stopped her eyes widening as she heard something.
"Oh thank god it's actually happening." Kal-Ven said relieved.
She could hear it, the sound of a motor engine, not one, but many all going on at the same time. She could hear their gears turning, and their fuel igniting. It was out of sync sounding like a bunch of garbled noise.
"You hear that, that's a highway 50 miles from here." Kal-Ven said smirking.
As Brainiac was focused on the sound she then saw something gently float in front of her face. A Leaf, she looked up and saw more her knocking Kal-Ven against the three causing some to fall. Their patterns were random, being adjusted by the wind which was had just shifted to the other direction.
"The falling leaves, a small plane taking off." Kal-Ven said.
Brainiac heard the engine, it was sputtering trying to start.
"Kids playing in the backyard."
There screams were endless, their steps furious and uncalculated.
"The smell of Fresh baked pie in the kitchen"
The oven it was in was off by 3 degrees, the crust was undercooked, 2 of the ingredients used were past expiration.
"The dragonflies in the air"
The small organisms flew around trying to catch smaller organisms their flight paths intersected while their buzzing filled the air.
"Y-you can hear all it to? You can see it?" Brainiac said shocked her face worried as Kal-Ven smiled.
"Yep, it's really something ain't it?" Kal-Ven said as Brainiac let go stepping back.
A small human was crying, two more were yelling at each other, there was rain falling, a four legged organism was barking, smaller winged ones tweeting, wind was blowing to the North in one place and to the South in another.
"A-all this-activity! All this Chaos!" Brainiac yelled as she held her head and covered her ears.
"How do you block it out?" Brainiac said her eyes wide in fear.
"Good people taught me how to focus on just what I wanted to hear and see. But even if I could, I wouldn't, I just live with it. But you can't can you? You can't live in a world you can't control. Anything that isn't a part of your 'perfect design' you destroy just like what you did when Loin bit." Kal-Ven said as he marched towards her.
Brainiac saw him and yelled throwing a hook at his face, he easily ducked under it and delivered an uppercut that lifted her off her feet. She landed back first into deeper water, she quickly emerged caked in a brown and green mucky substance.
"Ah, and that Brainiac is Mud and Algae." Kal-Ven said with a smile.
Brainiac tried to shake off the substance, but upon looking at it her eyes widened in fear.
"Look at it bugs, worms, bacteria can you see them, smell them, FEEL THEM!" Kal-Ven said seriously.
Brainiac let out a terrified yelp as she tried to scrap the mud off her body, not just the mud but the microorganisms that were now crawling on her skin.
"The oh so perfect Brainiac, a germaphobe, not what I was expecting." Kal-Ven said as he watched Brainiac frantically swipe at the insects in the air the gems on her forehead began to glow brighter.
"All that need to control and know everything, looks like that giant brain of yours can't take the RAW deal!" Kal-Ven said.
"NO, NO, GET AWAY FROM ME!" Brainiac panicked as she swiped and scrapped.
"T-this isn't right! There's too much! I can't take it!" Brainiac cried her voice sounding weak.
"SHUT UP WE CAN!" She yelled her voice now sounding angry.
"He's right, we never knew, we don't know anything!" She said her voice being worried.
"I SAID SHUT UP!" Brainiac yelled back to angry.
"It's happening again, we can't control this! He's the superior, he's in control, he's going to hurt us just like they did." The weak voice said this making Kal-Ven look worried.
"What I-we aren't-?" Kal-Ven said.
"HE IS NOT THE SUPERIOR, WE ARE, WE CONTROL-!" the angry voice yelled.
"He out does us, he can take all this we can't. I-Is this not the way, h-have we been wrong-?" The worried voice said.
"He's our superior, he has the right. He's going to punish us, those below can't question those above. He's going to punish us." The weak voice whimpered as Brainiac fell to her knees covering her face.
"B-Brainiac, we don't want to hurt you. But, you didn't give us a choice. Please just stop this, there's still a chance you-." Kal-Ven said reaching out for her.
"AAAAHHHHHHHH!' Brainiac shrieked in anger as she tried to claw at Kal-Ven's face he sidestepped.
"YOU-YOU'RE RUINING EVERYTHING! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL SHATTER YOU DUST! YOU ARE NOT BETTER THAN ME! NO ONE IS, NEVER AGAIN!" The angry voice yelled as Brainiac wildly swung at Kal-Ven who frantically dodged the attacks before firing a quick jab to Brainiac's face sending her back.
Brainiac seethed her face contorted in anger, she reared her fist back and stepped forward only to suddenly stop.
"W-what are you doing?!" The angry voice said.
"This is the way, he is superior we must submit." The weak voice said.
"NO HE IS NOT!" The angry voice said as her arm contorted and her body jerked.
"Please stop, maybe if we comply he'll be merciful." The weak voice said.
"WE DON'T TAKE MERCY FROM-!" the angry voice yelled.
"T-This wrong, we were wrong, about everything." The worried voice said.
"WE ARE NEVER WRONG!" The angry voice said.
"WE ARE DON'T YOU GET IT! THIS ISN'T RIGHT, WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING ISN'T RIGHT!' The worried voice said becoming bolder.
"Please, everyone stop and submit, he'll get angry." The weak voice cried.
"SHUT UP WEAKLING!" The angry voice yelled.
"YOU DON'T GET TO TALK TO HER LIKE THAT!" The now bold voice said.
"I GET TO DO WHATEVER I WANT, I LEAD THIS ENTIRE OPERATION!" The angry voice yelled.
"We followed you because you said we could make out own path. BUT THIS IS JUST YOURS!" The bold voice said.
"STOP IT, STOP IT, PLEASE STOP IT!" The weak voice screamed out in fear.
Kal-Ven watched in horror as Brainiac spoke and her body jerked unnaturally like there were multiple people in the body trying to control it. Brainiac screamed out covering her face her fingers digging into her green flesh. Kal-Ven tried to approach her but then her face shot up and her finger dug into her flesh and pulled down. Kal-Ven gasped as Brainiac tore off her face revealing a metallic face underneath, screaming bloody murder. Brainiac screamed louder as the purple lights on her body began to explode like light bulbs. Brainiac screamed out as her body began to convulse as purple electricity began to surge around her. And then her body caught fire, her entire body was engulfed in flames to Kal-Ven's horror. The green flesh began to melt off of Brainiac's body and her hair turned to ash.
Kal-Ven then used his super breath on Brainiac taking out the fire revealing the metal exoskeleton with the three gems embedded in the forehead. Brainiac fell to her knees, Kal-Ven rushed in catching her before she could fall looking at her worried.
"K-Kiiikkklll yoo-pleasssssse dooo-we were wroooooooong~" Brainiac slurred out her head falling forward.
And then from the skull the three gems fell out onto Kal-Ven's palm. He looked at the three gems with worry. He then took a breath and closed his fist. He then slowly opened it revealing that the three gems were now in three separate pink/red bubbles.
"I-I don't know what happened to you that made you all become this. But I hope with time-that we might be able to help you all." Kal-Ven said as he stood up looking at the bubbles as the sounds of the swamp filled the air.
Beach City Crater
People surrounded the crater taking pictures while the police tried to keep them at bay. A small van of scientist were preparing to go into the crater to see what happened. Just then a scream filled the air as a woman pointed up. Everyone else looked up and screamed as well, as they saw a massive skull ship descending over the crater.
"Were almost there just a little lower Garnet." Pearl said looking outside.
As they did the tied up Metallo continued to squirm until his arm got free, and with that arm he tore the whip apart. And with a roar freed himself, Amethyst ran into to attack but was batted away. Next was Pearl who he grabbed by the face and slammed into the ground. He finally focused on the sitting Garnet, he rushed forward to attacking yelling in anger until. He let out a pained scream, his body convulsing as purple energy surged around him. It then died down, his eyes rolled back into his head and he fell over unconscious. Pearl and Amethyst looked on confused while Garnet stayed focused.
Bottled Beach City
"DADDY!" Lois cried out as she cradled her father.
"MS. LANE LOOK OUT!" Doug yelled as a spider loomed over them arm raised.
Just then the spider began to jerk as purple electricity began to surge around it. Not just it, but all the Spiders did the same. Then they all fell over dead much to everyone's shock.
Brainiac's ship
"I'm going down." Pearl said as Amethyst tied a whip to her waist.
A hole opened up on the floor of the ship showing the crater beneath them.
"Pull me up quickly we don't know how fast this will be." Pearl said getting an okay from Amethyst.
Taking the bottled Beach City in hand Pearl leapt of the ship and descended towards the crater. As she fell her eyes focused on the center of the crater, there she saw a small indent in the dirt perfect size for a bottle. She reached the ground stopping three feet above it thanks to Amethyst. Pearl then place thee bottled city in the indent and then reached for the top of it. And pulled on it like a pin.
Beach City
Something happened the sky broke open and a light flooded in bathing the entire city, everyone looked up in wonder.
"Is that-the sun?" Connie asked.
Suddenly the fake sky began to crack like glass, and then quickly shattered. Suddenly a weird sensation filled the town and everyone in it. They all fell to the ground feeling like there was a force pushing them down. It lasted for a few seconds until, it stopped. Everyone stood up warily wondering what just happened. Greg looked up in the sky and saw a seagull fly overhead.
"T-that was a seagull. THAT WAS SEAGULL!" Greg laughed pointing to the sky and everyone looked up.
"That's the sun, that's our sun I know it." Connie said hopefully as her father reunited with her mother.
"Oh my god! We're free. WE'RE FREE!' Jimmy yelled happily.
The entire town erupted into cheers realizing they were no longer bottled.
"Daddy." Lois whimpered still holding her father who was breathing but slowly
Priyanka noticed this and went to help, but stopped in her tracks.
"MS. LANE!" Priyanka yelled.
A lone spider was barely functional and managed to raise one of its legs to bring down on the two of them. Suddenly a boom filled the air and a red blur came from above and crashed into the Spider crushing it. Lois looked up with Tear filled eyes as the figure stood before her obscured by the sun.
"Ms. Lane, I'm gonna need you to step back." Kal-Ven said calmly.
"I-I don't-." Lois whimpered, but Kal-Ven gently took her hand.
"I will not let him die." Kal-Ven said seriously with a reassuring smile.
Lois nodded and moved away as Kal-Ven knelt down. His eyes glowed pink and he bathed Sam Lane in the light. Sam groaned in pain as the blood went back into his body, the cut on his chest healed, and his clothes began to repair themselves. Lois let out a relieved laugh as her father was healed looking like nothing ever happened, his breaths steady.
"I healed the cut, but he's probably exhausted, you should get him somewhere comfy and-." Kal-Ven said until Lois grabbed his face and kissed him on the mouth.
Kal-Ven's eyes widened in embarrassment as Lois kissed him everyone watching. Kal-Ven's face turned red, and then his body glowed pink. With a SNAP the fusion vanished and Steven and Superman flew apart both blushing much to everyone's shock.
"OH WOW! I totally forgot about that." Lois said embarrassed.
"STEVEN ARE YOU OKAY!" Greg yelled as he ran to his son with Connie and Jimmy and tow. Steven laid there blushing talking gibberish for a moment.
"H-He's fine sir, just a little shaken that all." Superman said regaining his composure.
"I think I know what shook him." Jimmy said.
"Steven you and the gems did it!" Connie said hugging him.
"Owwowowowowow!" Steven yelled in pain.
"Oh my goodness are you hurt?" Connie asked.
"Not really, just-really sore." Steven groaned.
"We did go through a lot." Superman said.
"What exactly?" Greg asked getting a nervous laugh from Superman.
"Whatever he did, he was very brave. Thank you Steven." Lois said walking over and kissing the boy on the forehead.
"You're welcome Ms. Lane." Steven said smiling.
"And thank you." Lois said hugging Superman and kissing his cheek.
"It's all in a day's work…. Though I will admit this was a weird one." Superman said embarrassed.
"LET'S HEAR IT FOR SUPERMAN AND THE CRYSTAL GEMS!" Jimmy said.
The town erupted into cheers and congratulations, showering the two with praise. The both of them smiling and blushing as they did.
