A/N: I've always imagined that these two were rather like Arthur and Merlin when they were younger.
Prelude to Darkness
The boar came out of nowhere, charging the two men before either could react. Inevitably it headed straight for the one holding the bow.
"Uther!"
This is all your fault," the young king complained, wincing as Gaius inspected the deep wound. "If you hadn't been chattering away like an old woman."
"Well, if you'd just listened to my advice in the first place," his friend countered.
"I wanted to hunt. Can you fix it?"
"... or given me time to bring my medicine bag."
"Gaius!"
"I'll have to do it the other way then. Hold still whilst I cast the spell."
