A/N: I'm a bit behind on bringing these over, sorry. I wrote this one shortly after the royal birth. A little commentary on the fact that the sex of a baby is nowhere near as important as it used to be. Thankfully.

Passionate

A prince. Her prince. Her son. Her … everything.

She had done her duty, provided an heir. That was the only thing of importance, yes?

Not that Ygraine believed that was all Uther expected of his wife, not truly. He loved her, she was certain, and yet ... it had been the only conversation recently: Provide an heir - a boy - and, with or without magic, that is what she'd done.

Through the pain and lethargy Ygraine thought of the future; of her son's future and of his sons and the generations that would follow. She imagined a time when the nation would hope for a girl with a passion unheard of in previous eras. They would expect a female – knowing she would be queen, regardless of future younger brothers, and express surprise on hearing it was a boy - disappointment even. Could it be true? Was that really their future?
