A/N: Most characters and pairings that I like have been done or at least touched on. Have even skimmed around the edges of Merthur. So, in the end, I decided to go with Genre: Reincarnation in this case.
Now this could be inspiration for that new modern fic that's on my to-do list. :D
Uncharted Territory
It was a surprise when it finally happened.
After all those years of waiting and desperate longing, it occurred when he least expected it. What was that new saying? 'A watched pot never boils?' Well, not that new perhaps, but then Merlin had an especially strange perspective on time.
"Excuse me… sorry. I know this sounds strange but … have we met before?"
Merlin jumped at the voice; unfamiliar in many ways and yet…
His face was different, his hair and eyes dark instead of pale but, nonetheless the familiarity crashed into him so hard that he nearly toppled over.
"Arthur?"
