Written for my friend Wil1969's birthday and inspired by her wonderful Merthur wall, "When I Return, Will You Be There?"
She has made me so much wonderful Mergana art (Amongst others) it was the least I could do.
When I Return, Will You Be There?
"Merlin?" Arthur had only just stepped out of the little boat by the lake when he found himself enfolded in a desperate hug, which left him addressing a familiar looking shoulder.
"I'm here," Merlin replied, his voice cracking. "I've never been away."
Arthur pulled away to look at his friend's face closely. "What's wrong?" He still wasn't sure what had happened to him or where he'd been.
"Nothing's wrong," Merlin said with a hint of his old smile now showing. "Not not you've returned."
"So, why are you crying?"
Merlin's only answer was to press his lips firmly against Arthur's.
