Challenge Given: Series 4: A Better Way
Choose one thing you wish would've happened in the two-parter finale of the show and write about it! Just try not to go with "Arthur lives"... that one is a little too obvious. :) (Write anywhere from 100-300 words.)
Personal Challenge: Make the whole of this Series 4 challenge a 100 word drabble challenge.
A Better Way
Merlin had no idea how long he'd been sitting on the rock by the lake. His tears were now all spent and, in their place, nothing but numbness.
He soon became aware of a sound to his right but didn't have the energy or inclination to discover who was approaching.
A nudge at his shoulder prompted him to turn, and there he saw Aithusa, the dragon's eyes sad and possibly accusing; Merlin could hardly blame her for that.
"They're both gone now," he mumbled. "Arthur and Morgana."
Aithusa simply uttered a large sigh and lay her head in Merlin's lap.
