Penetrate

"This must be it," Leon declared as they entered the clearing.

"That? That's the magical building father has sent us to destroy?" Arthur asked, shocked.

It was an ancient building, little bigger than Merlin's chambers, and looked as if the next storm would blow it down, anyway. A large, door-less archway was the only obvious means of entry, but reports had suggested that the place was protected by a magic shield and none had been able to gain entry.

First they threw stones and other missiles, before moving forwards with swords out in front to test the shield's strength. One knight took a run at it, only the be instantly thrown backwards.

"Any suggestions on how we can penetrate that shield?" Arthur asked.

Merlin walked closer to get a better view of an inscription carved in an ancient language over the doorway. "It says, 'Come in Peace'... I think," he said calmly.

"You can read it?" Arthur asked, surprised.

"Ah...? Yes, Gaius has been teaching me. Well, that seems clear enough."

And before anyone could stop him the young man dropped the sword he was holding and walked forward; head back, eyes to the sky and both arms held out.

"Merlin!" Arthur shouted fearfully, but his servant had already reached the archway.

With nothing more than a small shimmer, Merlin calmly walked through the shield and into the temple itself.
