Chapter 33: Battle of the Sectors Pt. Three

Yomi vs. Sai

The battle between Higa and me still continues. Musubi defeated Ichiya in her battle. Now Yomi and Sai take their turns at the center field. Yomi had a confident smile across her lips while Sai had the opposite expression. Yomi started giggling.

"You seem mad; is it because we're picking you apart one by one?" she taunted. Sai gritted her teeth.

"You bitch," she cursed. Yomi smiled wider.

"Aww, did I strike a nerve? I would apologize, but I have nothing to be sorry for."

"First you hurt my ashikabi, then you terminated Ichiya, and now you dare mock me?" Sai interrogated. "I'll make you and that bastard ashikabi of yours pay. He's been a pain in my ass ever since I met him. And I'm going to enjoy watching him beg for mercy."

Yomi lost the smile and took firm hold of herscythe. I wasn't surprised that Sai had a vendetta against me.

"If you think I will just allow you to hurt my Ren, then you have no idea what you're in for. No body hurts my Ren and gets away with it; I don't care who you are," Yomi stated. She started spinning the scythe and pointed the head at Sai, who brought out her rope blades.

"Your ashikabi got lucky; there's no way a little worm could be my ashikabi," Sai stated. Yomi devilishly.

"So I take it you never became one with your ashikabi."

Sai started blushing.

"O-of course I have!"

Yomi laughed.

"I don't think you have. Well, let me show you the results of such pleasure."

She charged at Sai, who was completely distracted and ended being smacked in the face by Yomi's scythe. Sai hit the ground, and Yomi jumped above her as she came down with an overhead stab. Sai handspring herself back, barely avoiding death. She launched her blades, but Yomi retaliated by sending her wave vacuums. The two collided and canceled each other out. Yomi smirked while Sai gritted her teeth.

"Do you see the gap in our strengths?" Yomi questioned.

"Yeah I do; mine is stronger," Sai replied.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, you still don't understand. Oh well," Yomi said. Sai launched more of her blades, but Yomi elegantly danced out of the way. She then dragged her scythe along the ground and slashed up like a golf swing, creating a large scythe sickle. Sai maneuvered her blades in a circle pattern and used them like a shield. The sickle made contact and was powerful enough to make Sai slide back. Her blades suffered some damage, allowing you to see the scratches. Sai then commanded to attack. Yomi spun her staff in front of her and let the blades touch, deflecting them. Then, she did a three sixty slash and completely shattered one, making Sai's eyes expand. Yomi rushed her and attempted to reap her head, but Sai ducked the attack. In succession, Yomi slashed her scythe; but Sai managed to dodge them accordingly. She quickly backed away out of Yomi's range; but forgot about her secondary attacks and blocked an oncoming death sickle.

I just whistled and continued watching. I saw Sai take an angry glance at me. She launched her blades once more. Yomi assumed they came for her, but they soared right past her and came for me instead. She smiled devilishly, but stopped when I picked up Musubi and dashed out of the way. Yomi spun her scythe and threw it at Sai.

"Scythe Tempest!" she shouted. The scythe circled around Sai and creating a powerful twister. All you could hear were slashing noises and the sound of metal clashing against each other. The twister died down, and Yomi's scythe came back to her. Sai was covered head to toe on bruises. She was to fall to her knees, but Yomi kept her up by the end of the scythe.

"Don't tell me you're done already; I was just starting to have fun."

Sai gritted her teeth.

"Ugh, you bitch; I'll kill you," she stated. Yomi laughed.

"Will you really? I'd like to see you try."

Suddenly, Sai started laughing, confusing Yomi. That's when a yellow aura began rising around her. There was a sudden gale that blew Yomi back. Sai put her hands on the ground and smirked.

"By the blades of strings, my Ashikabi's enemies will be ripped to shreds," Sai chanted. Her chant caused the ground to shake vigorously. Yomi was looking around, but didn't see anything. That's when her eyes expanded and she jumped back, only to see a giant metal snake rise from the ground. Girls from the crowd shrieked at the sight. Where Yomi landed, caused eight more serpents to rise around her.

"Let's see how you handle this; Iron Maiden!" Sai exclaimed. Her blades were now gone, but her snakes responded like them. She waved her arms around, causing two of the snakes to slither towards her. She fired her vacuums at them, but they completely bounced off. She instead jumped out of the way. She just barely avoided their fangs; but it didn't stop the others. The entire horde slithered right after her and roared. Yomi took firm grip of her scythe and started generating her aura.

"I'm sorry Ren; but I have to do this," she stated.

"Go for it!" I shouted. She smiled and started twirling her staff above her.

"By the scythe of my vow, make my ashikabi's darkness be reaped."

Yomi's scythe started glowing and caused the blade to change shape. The blade was now larger and more curved. The point was sharper, and the entire thing was more slick. Yomi smiled and took a stance.

"Time to fight norito against norito. Soul Hunter!"

One of the metal snakes charged at Yomi and lunched its serpentine head. With perfect timing, Yomi swung her scythe. It actually ripped through the metal, but Yomi didn't stop there. She ran along the snake as her scythe ripped it to shreds. Even its roar was one of pain. When Yomi got to the end, the snake split in half and exploded. The smoke flew past her as she stood with her scythe resting against her shoulder. She did her signature laugh.

"Do you want to surrender now? I'll let you."

Sai gritted her teeth and narrowed her eyes in rage.

"Damn you!" She exclaimed. She pulled her arm back, making two snakes slither towards Yomi. One went underneath ground while the other continued its path towards my sekirei. Yomi just stood in place and spun her staff around her body. The snake attempted to eat her, but it ended it being torn to pieces. She then jumped up, causing the one from before to rise from the ground. Yomi came back down with a downward strike. She started with the snake's head and sliced the rest of its body as she descended. When she touched ground, she quickly jumped back and watched it explode. She then spun her scythe around her body again and rapid fired multiple scythe sickles. The wind felt thinner, which was probably a bad thing

The snakes surrounded Yomi, only to be ripped and sliced to tiny pieces by her sickles. One came up from under her and tossed her up in the air. As she came down, the snake had its mouth wide open. Yomi dove straight down into its mouth and used her scythe to keep it open. The snake shook vigorously to make Yomi fly, but she didn't budge from her spot. When the snake snapped its head up, Yomi released her grip with soared higher into the sky. The sun blinded the snake's view of her. I held my hand like sunglasses and found Yomi rolling in midair. She had her scythe extended and rolling along with her.

"Soul Extractor!" She exclaimed. A powerful energy sickle shot out and soared right down the middle of the snake. It touched ground, kicked up dirt piles, and split the caused the snake to break apart. Yomi used the falling metal to safely jump her way back to ground level. The blade of her scythe returned to its original shape. She smiled confidently at Sai, who was blinded with rage. She had veins popping out of her head and she was grinding her teeth.

"Why won't you die already?! She stated. Yomi just giggled.

"Because I can't let my ashikabi down," she replied. "My Ren is counting on me to win; and I won't let his love go to waste. There's a reason why we're so much stronger than you."

"And what makes you think that?" Sai interrogated. Yomi kept her grin.

"It's because your ashikabi doesn't love you," she stated. Sai gritted her teeth at her.

"That's a lie!"

"Is it? Tell me, when was the last time he said he loves you?" Yomi asked. She gasped and kept looking the other way, avoiding Yomi's gaze. She smiled and turned towards me.

"Ren; I love you," she announced.

'You had to say that in front of everyone?' I pondered.

"I love you too Yomi," I stated. She giggled and blew me a kiss. She looked back at Sai.

"You see? My ashikabi cares about me, he loves me; and I love him. You may love your ashikabi, but its only unrequited love. You're ashikabi views you only as tools; he doesn't give a damn about you. Ren on the other hand, he views us as human beings. Ren pays attention to all of us; and he makes sure we're happy. He's the reason why I'm so strong, and I'll continue to get stronger because I have an ashikabi who loves me."

Sai had her head down with her hair covering her eyes.

"You think your ashikabi is so great don't you? You think that just because your ashikabi treats you nicer that makes you stronger? You think that love alone can make you stronger? Well it doesn't! In the end, it all comes down to who's stronger, not by how loving your ashikabi is."

Yomi just listened to her words; she let it all soak in. After a moment, she sighed.

"So that's what you think. I honestly feel sorry for you; guess I have something to be sorry for now."

"Shut up: just SHUT UP! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOUR ASHIKABI! AND FUCK YOUR TEAM!" Sai exclaimed. She ripped off the strings tied to her blades and put her fingers through the holes, wielding them like gauntlets.

"I've had enough of your shit! Let's see you think that when I rip you to shreds."

Yomi swept the shaft of the scythe and started twirling it. Sai rushed at her, and she followed suit. Sai dragged them across the ground and slashed upward. Yomi slashed down and met the attack. CLANK! The sound of metal echoed through the air. Sai spun past Yomi's defenses and used her free hand in attempt to stab her, but she quickly ducked and raised her scythe. She swung horizontally, slapping Sai with the back of the blade. She slid back and stopped herself with her blades. Sai rushed back and in succession stabbed her blades. Her distance was so close so Yomi could only dodge. Sai ripped part of her clothes, revealing her bare shoulders. Yomi tripped her with the shaft and then slashed for the head, but Sai back flipped over it. Their blades clashed again and generated sparks, making Yomi smile.

"Do you still believe that your ashikabi's love doesn't make you stronger?"

"Do you still believe you should be talking as though you've already won?" Sai asked back. They jumped back.

"Face it Sai; everything I said was true. And deep down, you know it's true," Yoni said. She gritted her teeth and attacked ferociously. Yomi spun the scythe and used it like a shield as Sai repeatedly tried to get past, but to no avail. She was grunting in anger, blinding her from the true facts. Yomi ducked under a stab, thrust the end of the shaft into Sai's stomach and hit her in the chin. She got off the ground and received a kick to the face, making her world spin and collapse to the ground. To finish it off, Yomi started spinning the scythe again and jumped into the air. As the speed increased, the air around it started splitting.

"The time has come for me to finish this fight. Maybe now you see that I was right," she said. She cocked her hand back and chucked the scythe.

"Scythe Tempest!" She exclaimed. Sai couldn't stand as a powerful twister. The sound of slashing could be heard from the inside. Yomi landed back down and stared at the twister until it dispersed. In the center of the ground, Sai rested lifelessly on the ground, her crest gone, and tears on her cheeks. Yomi caught her scythe and shrugged her shoulders.

"I tried to tell her, but she didn't listen. Now look what happened."

I saw Takehito come down and check Sai's condition. Like my uncle, he shook his head no to Minaka; as a result, his signature smile rose to his lips.

"And that makes another bird whose wings have been clipped. Now there's only one more fight in the first round; and so far, it's seems that the Ashikabi of the North is the strongest. But will that all change?"

Yomi walked up to me and buried her head in my chest. Gently, I rubbed her hair.

"You did an excellent job Yomi; I'm glad you came out safe and sound. You had me a little worried with the while snake thing, but still, I'm glad you're okay."

She looked at me with a smile.

"It's all because of you Ren."

She hugged me tightly, and I returned it. Now that her fight was over, Tsukiumi and Mei Rin took their spot across from each other. The last battle of the first round was about to begin; but this was only the beginning of a long battle.

A/N: And here is the next battle. Again, I'm sorry that it's short. I'm not good at writing fight scenes so I have to do the best I can with what I know. Now then, the next chapter will be the fight between Tsukiumi and Mei Rin. Hope you enjoy.
