Chapter sixteen: Found

Daniel POV

It was a beautiful day outside. The birds chirped, bees buzzed, and butterflies fluttered around collecting nectar from gorgeous opening flowers. There wasn't a cloud in the pure blue sky, and the sun was shining bright creating rays of light which brook through the spaces in the trees.

The scene almost betrayed the fact that we were on the run from the mind controlled Voltron Force and the Demanousons.

"Are you sure you have to leave", Nanny asked concerned holding Sven's son on her hip? "It is much safer for you all to stay here instead of being out in the woods."

Larmina nodded. "We have no choice. The longer we stay here the more of a risk it will be for Kristine to track us along with you and the baby."

"Besides", I added. "There is probably a search party out there looking for us right now. It will be for the best if we moved to a different location."

Nanny still looked unconvinced. "But where will you go? If you go a couple more miles from here, you'll be in a dangerous part of the woods. There is too much wildlife and poisoness plants that you can run into. I don't want you children getting hurt."

"We'll be okay", I insisted. "Isn't that right buddy?" I patted Vince's shoulder.

"Yeah", agreed Vince confidently putting his fists on his hips. "There isn't a thing we can't handle."

Nanny's eyes misted with tears. "Alright", she said finally giving in. "But be careful. If anything happens to any of you, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself knowing that I let you four go on your own."

"Don't worry Nanny", said Lily squeezing past me and Vince. She ran over to the older woman and hugged her legs. "Everything will be okay." She then reached up trying to get to Sven's son. Nanny lowered the baby to my little sister's height, holding both of his hands to keep him from falling. Lily gave him a soft hug.

The baby boy erupted in a barrage of babbles and whines. Drool dripped from his smiling lips, and he bounced up and down in excitement.

"Oh we will", assured Lily with a nod.

More babbles.

"I'll miss you too. All of us will."

As they continues their conversation, I looked over at Vince.

'Dude', I said using the mind link. 'Is it just me or is it still really that creepy that she can read peoples minds?'

'It all depends on which one is weirder', he shrugged. 'Her being able to read a person's mind, or us having a telepathic connection?"

'True', I smirked.

"Well, if you two are done talking then we should get going", interrupted Larmina rolling her eyes. "The longer we delay our departure, the quicker it will be for Kristine to pin-point where we're at. And if she finds us, well, we're pretty much dead."

I sighed. "Alright." I then turned towards Nanny and gave her a bright, appreciative smile. "Thanks for everything. We wouldn't have made it without you."

"You're welcome", she returned the smile. She lifted the still chattering young infant and tapped his nose, receiving cherry laughter from the boy. "But", her voice turned serious. "After you kids defeat Kristine and the Demanousons, I want all of you to come visit me." She glanced over at the orange haired princess. "No exceptions Larmina, understand?"

Larmina groaned. "Yes Nanny, I understand."

"Good. Now off with you then", the elderly woman waved them off. "And remember to be safe. Watch out for those red quick sand pits, and the man eating flowers. They'll only try to eat you if you have any lotnant nuts around or with you. Okay?"

"Okay", we all said in union as we made our way down the stone pathway and into the forest. Nanny's voice soon faded away, and we were on our own.

"So, where to now", I asked after five minutes had passed?

The ground beneath us had gotten softer and the trees around us looked like they were dried out, but they had a green mucus colored slime oozing from the dead bark.

"Honestly. I don't know", replied Larmina stopping to examine her surrounding. "I've never been this far in the woods before, so everything in these parts are new to me."

"Well, that's just awesome", said Vince sarcastically throwing his arms in the air. "Here we are, Kristine's most wanted, walking around without a clue of where we're at." He raked a hand through his hair. "Maybe we should have listened to Nanny. It's too dangerous to be this deep in the forest."

"That may be true, but it's either go in the direction of the man eating plants, or go the other way where there is a search party who's main goal is to kill us", I pointed out.

"I vote for turning around", Lily said kicking a rock into a small murky puddle. "It's way better than getting eaten alive."

"I kinda agree with your sister", said Larmina.

"Me too", Vince gave a half shrug. "Either way we go there's something bad waiting for us."

I sighed going over our options. We could keep on moving deeper into the forest where there are a whole lot of vicious animals, quick sad pits, carnivorous plants, and who else knows what? Or. We could go back where the force and the Demanousons were ready to kill us, and where Kristine is prepared to still my powers?

If there was a worse case scenario, I wonder which one it would be?

"Fine", I huffed. "We can turn around, but if THEY find us I'm blaming all of you."

Keith POV

Oh my gosh my head hurt!

I rubbed my temple in a circular motion, trying to ease the pain. It felt like drums banging loudly in my there was also this voice. A voice telling me to do things. Awful things. And... and there was also this unexplainable force.

I looked up and everything was in a haze. My vision was a bit cloudy and out of focus. I blinked a few times, my vision becoming clearer as a result. It seemed that I was... outside? In the forest? When did I get out here?

"Ehn."

I stumbled backwards, as a wave of vertigo went through me.

What was that?

"Are you alright?'

I turned around to see Allura standing there with a look of concern, but it wasn't a normal expression of worry towards me. It was more stoic and drained of life. Her green eyes were darker, completely void of its usual brightness.

I grunted as the throbbing in my head became even more intense.

"Keith?" Allura's face hardened.

"I'm fine", I said but the pain kept on increasing.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Nothing hurts?"

"No."

"And you don't require any medical attention?"

"No."

"Then why are you clutching your head?"

My head pounded even harder. "It's just a small head ache", I forced out. "Nothing to worry about."

By now the rest of the team had stopped to watch us. All of them were silent, an held a similar impassive look.

Allura's eyes narrowed slightly, but it too quickly went back to its average size to tell if it did or not. Something weird was going on and I didn't like it. The team was acting very odd, and it almost seemed as if they were possessed. But by what?

"You need to go back to Kristine immediately", she declared after a brief pause, her head slightly tilted. "Hunk, take him to our master."

"Master?" Since when did we get a master? What is going on? "Allura... What...?"

"Do not fret Keith. Kristine will be more than happy to fix you."

"But..."

Before I could say anything else, Hunk had came up from behind me, and now held me in a tight bear hug. I squirmed in his grip. The pain in my head diminished a tiny bit, but it almost became distant, since the confusion I felt had pretty much overpowered it. Almost.

"Hunk... Allura... guys, why are you doing this?'

"You need fixing", she replied more forcefully. "Kristine knows exactly what to do." She directed her attention to Pidge and Lance. "You two can continue following the cornets that will lead us to our target. I will catch up with you shortly."

The two of them nodded and started to walk down the path.

"Allura what are you doing? Who is Kristine?" I wiggled in Hunk's hold, trying to squeezed through any loose gaps or at least try to weaken his grasp.

"Your mind is damaged", she said in monotone. "You need fixing, and Kristine will repair you."

"I don't need fixing", I argued. "I..."

"Enough", snapped Allura! "You urgently require fixing, and you will go to our master." She pointed to Hunk. "Hurry up and take him before his mind is too corrupt. Kristine knows how to deal with him."

Hunk curtly nodded, as his grip unexpectedly got a lot firmer.

"Hunk, don't do this", I shouted! "Something's going on, and some how you are in a trance. All of us are!" I gasped as he tightened his hold even more. My mind quickly tried to find a way to get free, and a million thoughts raced and collided together, forming nothing but chaos. Other than gaining any solutions, all I could think up were questions.

Why were we in the woods? Where are the cadets? Who is Kristine? Why does my head feel like it's getting ready to pop? And who are our targets?

My eyes shifted to my voltcom and an idea started to form in my head. It was crazy, I knew it was, and it could possibly hurt my friend, but right now it felt like I didn't have a choice.

Taking a deep breath, I summoned up my sword. "Sorry Hunk", I whispered.

Daniel POV

"This is taking forever", complained Lily loud enough for the whole planet to hear!

"Quiet", I hushed! "For a six year old girl being outrageously smart, you sure do know how to do some pretty stupid things."

"Well, at least I am smart. All you do is irrationally do stuff, that could put your life in jeopardy. I mean, when was the last time you actually paid attention to something without getting distracted?"

In the back of my mind I could faintly hear Vince snort a 'never'.

I sent them both a glare. Why the little...

"You better watch your mouth", she snapped! "I can tell when your getting ready to say a mean word."

"I wasn't..."

"Hey guys", yelled Larmina over our quarrels ,sending us a nasty look! "I understand that the two of you are brother and sister, and that sometimes you don't agree to things, and with our current condition of being hunted down like a pack of wild animals needing to be exterminated, that you are both frustrated. But if you value our lives, you will shut up right now!" She sent us a gentle, yet lethal smile. "Okay?"

Lily and I gave her a hesitant nod, with a few mummers of yes and absolutely.

Giving us one last glare, Larmina turned back around and started to quietly talk to Vince about where we should go next.

"She has quite the temper doesn't she", Lily whispered to me?

"Yeah", I said in a shushed voice. "It's one of her amazing, yet scary qualities."

Lily smirked. "Scary, yes, but amazing?"

"Oh... um...", I could feel my face heat up. I just had to say amazing, didn't I? "It's not that kind of amazing, it's another amazing, like... like... um..." Real smooth Daniel, real smooth.

"Like what", Lily lifted her eyebrow in confusion.

I could tell that she was really stuck on this one. This was one of her naive innocence towards something, and even with the power to read a persons' mind, she was still puzzled about certain topics. And this was one of them.

"You don't need to know", I said, my face on fire.

"Why?"

"You're too young."

"No I'm not", she pouted crossing her arms.

"Yes you are."

"Then what am I too young for?"

"I am not going to tell you."

"But why?"

"'Cause I'm not", I sighed.

"I'm not too young."

"Ah Huhn."

"Ahn ahh."

"Ah Huhn!"

"Ahn ahh!"

"What did I tell you about being quiet", Larmina growled, stomping our way! "With all of this noise, THEY'RE bound to hear us. Do you both want us to get killed or what?! THEY-!"

"Shhh", Vince held a finger in front of his lips. "Do you hear that?"

We all paused, and there was a definite noise coming from the bushes around us. A few of the bushes moved, and we could also hear a threatening growl.

"Daniel", Lily grabbed my leg frighted?

I ignored the increased wave of pain that I had been disregarding for the passed few hours, and held my sister protectively.

"I know", I said. I looked over at Vince and Larmina. "THEY found us."
