Claws crashed, and cats winced. Winterstar herself was too weak to even get up, blood spilling from her wounds uncontrollably, and so she slumps, over, hacking. She was too weak to stop the two warriors from fighting. She always knew they would someday turn up like this.
Cedarflower was running to Rainstorm, while the other three medicine cat's were running frantically around, trying to get the most suitable herbs, or what was left of them, anyway. The battle left the herbs wrecked and stripped clean of their roots, dusted and bloody, all from the surge of battle. Heatherfrond, the medicine cat was trying to stop Winterstar's gash from bleeding without luck. She was dabbing the infected wound with cobweb, replacing it immediately with some chewed up marigold leaves.
The medicine cat apprentices, were working on kits and elders, giving them thyme and soothing them, trying to calm them down, which were panicking or crying. Stormheart was wrestling Lionfire on the ground. Growling and taunting each other as they pinned themselves on the ground, laughing bitterly.
Lionfire pinned Stormheart's paw, at an unnatural angle, Stormheart wincing in pain, and falling on all three's, panicking as Lionfire pushed all his weight on the splayed paw, Stormheart letting out an agonizing shriek, clawing Lionfire's paw away, and limping on the paw while Lionfire thrashed on the ground.
"Damn you," Lionfire spits, eyes blazing, the thrashing cat getting on his wobbly paws. The two cats snarl at each other, scrabbling to hook their claws on the opponents pelts. Rainstorm watched in pain, medicine cats around her, trying to heal her. Her head was on the ground, limp. Her eyes were dark, and fierce as spasms of pain, watching the two cats she always liked fighting.
And..Stormheart, oh Stormheart. How she loved him. She always remembered going on hunts, patrols, walks, and swims together, even having conversations. She smiles sadly as she remembered him and her leaping around in the meadow, it's green grass rippling in the northern wind, lavender and blue bells blooming, the scent lingering in the air like a fragrant perfume, the wind blowing only slightly, releasing a warm, yet not too cold feeling. The grass was not itchy, but not moist, just perfect..
*REALLY SHORT Flashback.* (Sorry if you dont like this o.o)
"Come on, Rainstorm!" The voice of Stormheart laughed.
"Your slowww! You got slower," he teased, leaping around, tail high like a bluebell.
Rainstorm ran behind him, grinning, her ears perked up, tail lashing. "You can't catch me!" Rainstorm smiles, touching noses with him.
Stormheart raised an 'eyebrow'. "Oh?"
Rainstorm gives a loud yowl of a challenge, and races along the meadow. Stormheart rears on his back paws, and hurries after her to catch up to the sprinting cat. Rainstorm trips, rolling down the meadow, puffing. She got to her paws, sprinting away, but Stormheart caught her, puffing, but happy, his paws outstretched, clasping around her neck, and they both tumble down. Rainstorm and him were side by side, tails intertwined, together.
*End of Flashback.*
Rainstorm blinks back into the present. She realized only now as the two toms were trying to kill each other. She never understood why they have never had a day of peace when Rainstorm was doing something with the both of them. They would always snap and boast at one another, especially during hunting contests. They behaved extra sensible and friendly to Moonfeather and Hurricanefire, honeying them up with complements on how well Rainstorm and Leafdapple were as warriors.
While the realization dawns over her, a loud scream shook the cat out of her thoughts. A cat was on the ground, and Stormheart was standing, barely alive, standing over Lionfire. He sniffed Lionfire's face, to see if he was alright and then...
Lionfire leaped up, claws aiming for Stormheart's eyes. Stormheart jerked his head back, and Lionfire's claws fly in thin air. The warrior loses his balance, and then falls, a sharp rock impales in his neck. Lionfire gives out an agonized yelp, and the light fades from his eyes. Rainstorm gasps, trying to get to her paws. The rock was in Lionfire's throat, killing him quickly.
Stormheart stood over, sadness enveloping in his gaze. It has finally killed him, the burning anger in Lionfire's eyes that burned for moons. It finally stopped flickering, and it died down. Stormheart stared down at the dead cat, almost awestruck. Stormheart felt terrible. He felt relieved too, because he couldn't bear killing off one of his most best friends, even though they always fought. He always thought Lionfire was going to be nice to him, polite. Stormheart thought sadly.
We could have been like brothers..
But Stormheart had no other choice. All warriors looked at him in awe, terror, and even fascination. But Stormheart didn't care, and he ran over to Rainstorm, nuzzling her, Rainstorm had a faint smile on, but she was losing consciousness quickly, and eventually blacked out. Rainstorm woke up in a field of grass. The fields of grass seemed to go on endless.
The clouds above her were stormy gray, flashing white once so often, thunder rumbling in the distance. Rainstorm perked her ears to see if any rain was coming, but it wasn't. The air was lightly humid, and Rainstorm stiffens. A gaze burned at the back of her neck, and she whips around. Staring, was a handsome looking cat, his light gray fur rippling in the wind, dark black streaks on his face and a large, splash on his muzzle.
"Greetings," the cat smiles, his tail flicking.
"Am I in StarClan?" She asks, eyes wide, paws shaking.
"No," his voice was gentle. "Rainstorm, you have a very difficult life ahead of you," the cat observes. Rainstorm's eyes narrow, "Yeah, no kidding," she growls softly, her eyes raise to meet the cat.
"Who are you?" she asks levelly, tension coursing through her haunches. The cat raised an 'eyebrow' and his ears flick as he tips his head, eyes thoughtful and curious. "Hmm," he murmurs. He pads down, and sits in front of her. "My name is Riversky. I was once a cat living in StormClan, just like you," he meows, whiskers twitching. "I was like you, making a decision in love," he meows. "But there is a great danger ahead of you," his eyes turn misty.
"The lion roared, the glory faded. The storm raged, it's rain falling down painfully on the leaves, and the talon of an owl sharpened and ready for the war to come.." His voice fades, and so does her vision; the words fading and repeating in her head, over and over again. Rainstorm tried to sink her claws in the moist ground, trying to keep her vision from swirling around, but it was no use. Rainstorm's head swam, and her vision fades, and she yowls in protest.
"Waiiit!" She yowls, but it was no hope.
The cat was gone, and Rainstorm woke up, once again, in the ruins of a Clan camp, with the kind face of a cat looking down at her.
Stormheart, oh Stormheart...
