Chapter 60: Realization

About fifty pushups in, I felt someone straddle my back and rest their hands just below my neck. I turned my head while continuing my exercises and saw Narashino smiling happily at me.

"Good morning Ryan; I missed you this morning."

"You know my routine; I always do my morning training when I wake up," I reminded her.

"Mhm, then how do you still have energy after all the pleasure you gave us last night?" She giggled. I felt my face heating up, not from the exercises though.

"I wonder that myself every time."

Narashino hopped off my back as I pushed vertically up and down. My sekirei crouched low.

"Wow Ryan; you really are strong."

"Of course; I train every day," I stated with a confident smile. Narashino continued to watch me train.

"Hey Ryan, what do you think of the takeover thing?" She suddenly asked. I stopped my punches and let out a heavy breath. That was one of the questions on my mind. I wiped my face with a towel.

"You tell me; I had no say in the decision remember? You all made me stay quiet and accepted the decision without my opinion."

"Ryan; we just wanted things to be better for us," Narashino stated.

"You could've asked for my opinion though," I reminded her. "Even if you wanted things to be better, apparently, my opinion doesn't matter."

She didn't respond to my retort and let out a sad breath.

"I'm sorry."

I walked to her and tilted her head up, where I planted a soft kiss on her lips.

"You shouldn't agree to things without my saying. Even if it's for us, I need to decide as well."

She pecked me on the lips.

"We figured you'd be happy."

"I'm always happy to spend time with you, but you need to think about the consequences that awaits. Do you really think Ren and his team can help us take down Higa? Also, what's so bad about Higa? I have yet to see any misdeeds he's committed that involves taking him down," I pointed out.

"Of course you wouldn't," someone stated. Narashino and I turned around and saw my blonde haired beauty approaching us. Kaie placed her hands on her hips. "Ryan, you're a great person, but you don't know what goes on at Higa's building. The reason you don't know anything mischievous is because you're never there to witness them. Higa knows how loyal and dedicated you are so he'll make sure you're never there to hear in on his real plans."

"You really think Higa's a bad man?"

"I don't think so Ryan; I know he is. He doesn't care about you; he just wants you at his side to complete his dirty work. Haven't you heard the rumors about him?"

"Well yeah, of course I've heard about them. However, as you said, they are merely rumors. It doesn't mean that any of them are true. I mean really, why would he hold people hostage?"

"So he can keep them under his reign," Midorino stated appearing out of the house. The rest of my group showed up and gathered before me. "Ryan; it's time you know the truth. You need to know what's really going on."

"Look, we're not going to sugarcoat anything, but you are seriously too blind to see the truth," Kaie spoke up. "Higa only wants you for your loyalty. He knows you'll do whatever he says because he saved you when you needed it. As long as he's got that debt, you'll stay under his finger until he doesn't need you anymore. Until he finds no more use for you, you'll only be a slave to him."

The rest agreed with her claims.

"Kaie, you were once Higa's sekirei. You were his way before I even showed up, so why is it now that you want to take him down? Is it some act of revenge? Do you want to get back at him, or is there something else you want to get off your chest?" I questioned. I then faced Oshino. "Oshino, what about you? Do you want revenge too, or is this happy life some excuse?"

The two frowned at me, as I set my sights on the rest.

"Midorino, Mei-Mei, what about the two of you? Do you want the same thing?"

The rest frowned at me as well. "Look, I still don't see what's so bad about him. If I had cold, hard proof, then I'll believe you, but until then, I see nothing that means we have to take him down."

"Ryan, open your eyes," Kaie stated. "Higa is only using you, using us; he doesn't care about anything but himself. You have to see the truth behind his lies. He only wanted you to obtain that Jinki so he has someone to go to the final phase with; Ryan can't you see that?"

"The only thing I see is that you're angry at him for giving you away," I retorted.

"That's not why I want to take him down," she replied.

"Then what is it? You've never spoken your mind about him until now, so what else could you possibly want besides vengeance?"

Kaie gritted her teeth in anger. I could tell this conversation was only going to get worse.

"You're an idiot," she insulted. "If you can't see the writing on the wall, then I have nothing else to say."

She turned her back on me. "Enjoy being a slave; you can follow him to the ends of the earth for all I care."

With that said, Kaie jumped away from the scene with the rest glaring at me before following after her. I watched them leave and let out a sigh. I didn't dwell on the thought and headed inside my house, where I cleansed myself with a shower and breakfast. As I prepared to head out, I thought about what Kaie told me. I recalled the rumors that have been spreading around, but I only accused them as false. I didn't believe one bit what the rumors said, but now that I think about it, could it be true? I narrowed my eyes as I fixed my shoes. However, I heard someone enter the house and raised my head to see Midorino standing in the doorway. She stared at me as I fixed my attire.

"So, came back to scream at me too?" I questioned. She closed the door behind her.

"No, I came back to set you straight. Sit on the couch; we have a lot to talk about."

P.O.V Change Ren

I exited the shower and put on my clean clothes. A simple blue t-shirt and shorts sufficed, and I found a passed out Matsu smiling happily while sprawled out over the bed. Our second session proceeded with more…intense passion. She had a smile on the entire time we did it, even when she begged for a break. I scratched the back of my head and pulled the covers over her naked body. I then kissed her forehead and headed out the room. I passed a still sleeping Akitsu, who too was still naked. She didn't wake up the entire time I did it with Matsu, which I still find strange. Matsu didn't wake up when I did it with Akitsu and vice versa. I just shrugged my shoulders and headed downstairs. There was no one up yet, which I liked as well. I could use the peace and quiet a little while longer.

"Good morning Carmen; how did you sleep?" I asked my computer A.I.

"Good morning director; I slept peaceful, thanks for asking. Shall I wake up the others?" She asked back.

"No, that won't be necessary. Let them have their beauty sleep; it'll be beneficial for all of us. You should rest a little more as well; I'll take over things in your absence," I requested.

"As you wish director, I shall see you soon," Carmen went back into sleep mode, and I plopped down on the couch and turned on the TV. I caught my shows on a good time, as a marathon of Dragon Ball Z played. I smiled wide, thinking this must be what Haihane does when she's not patrolling. I watched my anime intently, not wanting to miss any scene of the epic clashes.

"Goku fighting Cell is definitely one of the best fights," I commented. As soon as the show went to commercials, a knock sounded at my door. I groaned and hopped off the couch. I asked for identification and opened the door, where I saw Ryan's sekirei, minus Midorino, standing before me. I just blinked at them, not expecting their arrival.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

"Ren; we need to talk about some things," Kaie answered.

"Uh, okay? How did you even find my place?" I asked.

"We still remember the location from what Ryan told us," Narashino spoke up.

"I see. Where is Ryan anyway?" I realized the ashikabi to be missing as well. Kaie and the rest narrowed their eyes at my question, which made me even more curious.

"He's at home with Midorino," Oshino said. I nodded in understanding.

"Oh I see. Well, come on in then."

The girls thanked me and headed to my living room. I shut the door and followed them. When they saw the TV, Oshino and Narashino gasped loudly as stars twinkled in their eyes.

"You're watching Dragon Ball Z," they said in unison. The two hopped on the couch directly across from the TV and watched the anime more intently than I did. The rest took spot beside them while I sat on the chair diagonal from them.

"Okay, what's this about?"

"Do you remember what we requested of you and your team?" Kaie asked. I nodded.

"Yeah, taking down Higa so you can live peacefully with Ryan; I remember. However, are you sure it was such a good idea for all of you to come over by yourselves. I mean, wouldn't that arouse suspicion?"

"We…didn't think about that," Mei-Mei said.

"Well, we better end this visit quick before it gets out of hand. I'm all ears," I told them. Kaie nodded.

"We can't get Ryan to see Higa for who he truly is; he doesn't believe us when we told him about the rumors surrounding Higa."

"Hmmm, I see why you're so angry then," I replied. "Well if you ask me, I'd say Ryan is too obsessed with the fact that Higa saved him to see the truth. Speaking of which, what did Higa save him from?"

"Ryan was involved in a severe incident," Kaie began. "He was trapped in a burning building, trapped underneath a ton of rubble. He managed to evacuate the people beforehand, but he wasn't so lucky in the endeavor. His legs were broken and he suffered a concussion, but luckily for him, it was a building owned by Higa. He saved Ryan and brought him to the hospital to heal. Ryan was very thankful to him and even said he'll repay his debt anyway he could. That's how he came to be under Higa."

I nodded again. "That explains a lot. Ryan is simply repaying what he owe so I doubt he'll just accept things so easily. You just have to give him time to adjust; he'll come around eventually."

"What makes you so sure?" Oshino asked. I reclined in my chair, which pulled back for said reclining.

"Believe it or not, my instincts are rarely wrong. I'm rarely wrong as well."

"Riiiight," Kaie said. I sighed.

"Ryan is loyal to whoever he works with. Higa has his loyalty because he saved his life and limbs; however, what none of you are factoring in is his loyalty. You all want to live a happy and peaceful life with Ryan, and I know he wants the same thing. However, how can he go against someone who saved his life, gave him something to work for, and allowed him to be with all of you? I'm sorry to say this, but Higa is the one who led him all to you. If not for him, Ryan wouldn't be with any of you."

The girls couldn't come up with anything to say and looked between one another.

"Kaie let me ask you something. Did you hate Ryan at the beginning?"

She narrowed her eyes at me. "Why is that any of your business?"

"Higa, who was originally your ashikabi, gave you away through his secretary and into Ryan's hands. You seem like the type who's really loyal to their ashikabi and I know the sudden change had to anger you. So, did you hate Ryan at first?" I repeated. She looked at the ground and then turned her head with a "humph."

"I have no reason to tell you, but I will tell you this; I love Ryan and will make sure he's free from Higa's tyranny. Let's go girls; we're done here. Thanks for the talk Ren."

Narashino and Oshino groaned in sadness as they were pulled away from the TV and out the door begging to let them finish. As soon as the door closed, Narashino burst through again, but Mei-Mei grabbed her again, apologized for the rudeness, and dragged her back out. It took every fiber of my being not to laugh, but it didn't last long and I burst out chuckling at the scene.

"And what's gotten into you?" Someone asked. I stopped laughing and saw Kazehana giggling at me as she strutted towards me. The enticing thing about her though is that she was still in her bra and panties, the latter being purposely her main method of attacking. Stood beside the chair I sat in.

"I had a conversation with Ryan's sekirei. They really want to be free from Higa's finger, but Ryan doesn't see the big picture. They just left, well two wanted to watch TV more, one managed to escape and run back in here, but another grabbed her before she got too far."

"Oh I see. No wonder you were laughing so much," she giggled again. She placed a hand on my shoulder and leaned closer, pressing her lips to mine for a good morning kiss. She straddled my waist and rubbed her chest against mine.

"It's so early in the morning and you already want to go," I separated from her. She rested her forehead against mine and pecked me on the lips.

"Don't give me that. You were up all night with Matsu and Akitsu; I bet you really tired them out."

"You could say that," I reached around her back and took off her bra, exposing those bountiful breasts she possesses. "But you know I have tons of stamina, even more than you."

"That depends, can you outlast me?"

P.O.V Change Ryan

I entered Higa's building and admired the well-constructed architecture of the place. It was divided into even floors and space, nothing was in the way, and it was easy to navigate through. I had to make sure of some things, which is why I arrived here. Talking with Midorino made a million more questions rush through my head. We talked civically; I let her go first and listened, and she returned the same respect. She presented her case quite well honestly, but I still disagreed with her. There was one person in here I could rely on to tell me the truth. I traveled through the corridors while greeting the workers and teammates.

I wonder if she'll tell me. But if I ask, I might give away the secret. I let out a deep breath and decided to take the risk. I arrived at the right floor and stepped out of the elevator. I headed down the halls and made it to the right office. I knocked on the door.

"Come in," a female voice replied. I turned the knob and opened the door. Upon entering the spacious and highly organized room, I found her sitting at a desk, typing up on a computer. Her fingers moved like lightning as her short gray hair shifted with her swift movements. She had red half-moon glasses covering her beautiful silver eyes, a long light purple corset with frills around her neck and under her large breasts, a belt tied around her curvy waist, and a side slit that ran down in her outfit from the thigh, a loose purple strip covering her lovely hands. Beautiful was too weak a word to describe her; she gave off a highly mature and sophisticated aura that went perfectly with her appearance and personality. Her name is Kochou, a brain-type sekirei from what she tells me. Whenever Higa or her ashikabi, Kakizaki, is unable to hand me assignments, I come to her instead. I knew she can answer my questions, but at the same time, I knew she would inform one of the two of my sudden inquires. Even so, I still decided to take the risk.

"Ryan, how can I help you?" Kochou asked. "Master Higa or Kakizaki haven't called you in right now."

"Yeah I know. I was just walking around and then decided to see if there was anything happening. I stopped by this floor to see how you were doing," I replied and walked further into the room.

"Oh, well I'm doing fine, just finishing a few tasks. I see you came alone today," Kochou pointed out. I scratched the back of my head.

"Yeah well, my girls are a little mad at me right now."

"Really? That's a first. What did you do?" she asked. I laughed sheepishly while scratching my cheek.

"Well, we all sort of got into an argument; I was all alone on the argument while my girls banded together. Now we're kind of at heads with each other."

"I see; and what were you all arguing about?" the brain-type questioned.

"Nothing major, just that I've been working too much instead of spending time with them," I lied. "I mean, I do not work more than I spend time with them."

"Actually, you do," Kochou stated. I did a comedic fall.

"What? How?"

"From your statistics, you spend most of your time doing assignments for Master Higa and Kakizaki and then head off to your sekirei. So I'm siding with them on this matter."

I sighed. "Well at least you're honest. Anyway, I'm sure you don't want to hear my life trouble, but I do need to ask you something important."

"Okay? I'm listening," she told me. I took a deep breath and reached into my pocket.

I'm sorry Kochou, but I can't have you blubbering to them.

As she faced her computer, I took out my Jinki and touched her crest with it. Kochou's eyes expanded and a loud gasped escaped her lips as she froze in place. The jewel shined brightly along with her crest.

"R-Ryan…what are you?"

"Kochou, tell me what Higa does while I'm not here. I have some questions that you are going to answer," I informed her. Her face frowned as her eyes glared angrily at me.

"You… you traitor."

"Who said I was betraying anyone? I just need some answers, but I know you would be skeptical about my questions and go inform your ashikabi. Speaking of which, how long will he be out?"

The Jinki shined even brighter in reaction to her crest. Kochou tried her best not to moan, but she was slipping.

"Kakizaki is out getting information; he didn't say when he'll be back."

I nodded.

"Okay, that gives me time. Alright, next question. What does Higa do that he doesn't want me to know? My sekirei told me that he keeps people hostage to make sure others stay loyal to him."

Kochou continued to frown, and I increased the power to make her comply.

"I don't like doing this to you Kochou, but it's the only way I can get you to comply. I'm sorry, but you're not going to remember any of this afterwards."

"Y-You…won't get away… with this," she grunted.

"We'll see. Now, is it true that Higa takes people hostage to force others to do his bidding?" I repeated. Kochou tried to resist the power, but the Jinki proved to be a league above her own.

"Yes, it's true," she answered. I gasped loudly and widened my eyes. I can't believe it was actually true. "Master Higa wants to ensure that he gains as much help as possible, even if it means resorting to such tactics. He'll stop at nothing to achieve his goal."

"I…I see. So my girls were right. Answer this; did Higa purposely send me out to hide this fact?"

I poked her crest again, causing her to moan out loud. She clamped her mouth shut to stifle it, and I lowered the frequency to let her speak. She panted hard and continued to shoot daggers at me.

"Yes, he made sure you were out before speaking to my ashikabi about this. He sends Kakizaki to find them and brings them in; I help locate them."

"Okay, so everything is all true so far. Now this is my last question; Higa doesn't give a shit about me as long as I stay loyal to him does he?" I interrogated. "The moment he doesn't need me anymore, he'll dispose of me won't he?"

I didn't affect Kochou this time and let her answer through her own will. I had to hear this without forcing her. My heart is pounding in anticipation. She let out a heavy breath.

"Yes, it's true. Higa only wants you here because of your skills and loyalty. He saw how much skills you possessed and the loyalty you dedicated so asked you to follow him; however, you were only a pawn to him. He only wanted to see his company flourish and beat MBI. He didn't care how he did it; he just wanted to claim the top."

I was shocked. Everything my girls told me is true; I didn't trust the rumors, but now I do. I closed my mouth and nodded my head.

"Thanks Kochou; I appreciate the info."

She glared at me again.

"You'll pay for this."

I activated the Jinki one more time.

"Sorry Kochou, but I promise to make it up to you."

She gripped the desk hard as the shine from both her crest and the Jinki brightened brilliantly. When the light faded, Kochou's head fell forward, but I caught her and repositioned her so it appears she fell asleep. Actually, I used the power of the Jinki to wipe away her memories of the entire conversation. Now that she won't remember any of this, I can get back to my house without any trouble. I left Kochou's office and moved towards the main exit. I greeted more of my colleagues while trying not to act suspicious, but I felt a stinging feeling in my chest as I walked through the building I made my name from. Now I realize that it was all a lie; and that there was one last thing to do. Once I managed to distance myself a good bit, I took out my cell phone and dialed a certain someone's number. There were a few rings before the person answered.

"Hello?" Kaie said in a displeased tone. I could tell she was still angry at me, her tone giving it away.

"Kaie, where are you right now?"

"Home," she responded. "Why?"

"You were right," I stated. I heard her gasp loudly.

"I…I'm what?"

"I said you were right. Higa only wants me as an underling; he doesn't really want to help me. I'm only his pawn; you were right."

"Th-Then the plan?" Kaie asked. I narrowed my eyes and gave Higa's building one more look.

"Consider it approved."

A/N: Well, that ends another chapter ladies and gentlemen. I hope you all forgive the late update, but as I stated in my other stories, I need to take longer breaks between chapters so I can keep my mojo flowing. I've been writing too much at once that now I've become bored, which I don't like. I'm sorry, but understand that this is for both you and me. Thanks for understanding.
