One Tiny Victory

Harry was used to fighting. It was something that he had done ever since he had first set foot in this school eight years ago. But this battle – and on today of all days – he could not fight. This battle he was forced to watch from the sidelines as he watched someone he had come to know and love go through immense pain.

It was kind of fitting, he mused, that this should happen today, on the first anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. None of them had had to fight for a year, and yet here they were back where it had all ended witnessing yet another battle. He winced as he heard Fleur scream something in French – he would not want to be Bill right now.

Only three hours ago he had been giving a speech at the memorial service held by the lake, and now here he was, pacing outside of the hospital wing. And yet, he could not feel upset. Because maybe, maybe at the end of this battle things could start to get back to normal. Maybe, this would help them all to heal.

Suddenly a shrill cry interrupted his thoughts and he raced into the wing along with the rest of the Weasley family. As soon as he saw her he felt something ignite inside of him, something he had not felt since he first saw little Teddy a year ago. "Everyone, Fleur and I would like you to meet Victoire Gabrielle Weasley."

Victoire. Victory. He knew, without a shadow of a doubt that this was what they had fought for. So that something so tiny and innocent and pure could have a chance to live. And, looking around the room, he knew that this one, tiny victory meant so much more than all of the pain and loss brought by that all-important win last year. And that they would all do it again to keep her safe. Because this little baby, she represented all they wished for the future, and they would never let anyone harm her, nor any other child that came after her. She was their little victory, after all.

A/N. As promised, a warm and fuzzy chapter after the last one. I just love the thought of baby Weasley-Potters, don't you? It's just so cute! Anyway, I hope you liked it. NG
