"If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day
Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life"
If Today Was Your Last Day- Nickleback
Agni turned off the music player in his bracer and smiled to himself. It was about three in the morning. After a quick refreshing four hour meditation, Agni felt refreshed.
He walked over to the training hall as he always did in the morning to train with Connor who never seemed to sleep more than five hours no matter how hard whatever quest they had done was. It made everyone but him jealous.
Conner was already in the training room, smashing several holograms with his hammer. He paused his smashing and waved to Agni.
The dark elf nodded back as he jumped into the fray of holograms. His hidden blade slipped from his right hand bracer and he lifted his tomahawk off of his leg.
Two hours later after destroying a ton of holograms, several robots, their usual martial arts training and weapon's training, Agni and Connor walked into the kitchen to make breakfast.
Connor opened the fridge and reached for a carton of milk but was stopped by Agni.
"I'm making breakfast for everyone today." He said with a small smile
Superboy shrugged and sat down at the kitchen table.
Agni stretched his arms and made his symbol with his fingers.
"Clones of Shadow!" He said causing twelve of him to shoot out of the shadows littered around the room. Well twelve of him and one idiot wearing an orange jumpsuit
"'Bout time you let me out! I hate missing out on the fun. Believe it!" Orange said, flipping over the counter and standing next to Agni.
"Nice to see you two, Orange." The dark elf muttered, wincing at the orange jumpsuit that did not go at all with his purple skin.
"There isn't anything to kill here… why did you call us?" a clone asked looking around and seeing nothing aside from an indifferent human male sitting at the table cringe at Orange.
"I'm making breakfast for twenty people. Possibly more." Agni explained
Orange grinned and dashed off "I'll start preparing!"
Everyone watched as somehow the brightly colored clone disappeared.
Agni sighed "As I was saying, before Orange… was being Orange, I want this to be a big breakfast. No one should be up for about another two hours since it's the weekend, so we don't have a lot of time."
The eleven clones that were left saluted their creator and dropped into their shadows. They reappeared a moment later all wearing the full attire of a chef.
"Okay, let's start!" Agni shouted at the, "I want everything from pancakes, waffles, bacon, porridge, oatmeal, eggs of every kind, soup and every kind of muffin imaginable. Got it?"
"Yes sir!" the clones shouted
"Two of you go to the store and pick up everything we need. Now hop to it!"
The clones scattered quickly, each off to follow their orders.
"Must be nice having a mini army at your beck and call…" Connor observed "They're loud though."
Agni nodded and sat down to watch their progress.
"Why are you doing this?" Connor asked suddenly "I know you make breakfast for Zatanna, but this isn't like you."
A small sad look crossed Agni's face for a short moment, almost unnoticeable. "Because I feel like it…" Was all the answer he gave
Suspicious, but happy he didn't have to make himself breakfast, Connor dropped the matter, content to watch the clones walk over each other and bark to each other advice and ideas.
"No that's not how you cook a waffle!" One of them shouted
"Yes it is! What else would a waffle be?"
"I don't know! I thought it was some kind steak from meat of a Water Buffalo!"
Connor watched impassively as the clones bustled around the kitchen in a mad rush to make a huge meal.
Around an hour later everyone began filtering into the kitchen to see what the ruckus was.
Robin stepped in first, having spent the night in his room at the cave he was about to return to Gotham and go on patrol with his mentor and possibly Nightwing and Cursed Shadow when he heard what sounded like chaos in the kitchen.
"What is going on here?" Dick asked, looking around in amazement.
One of the clones looked up at him before turning around and screaming to another "SIX! THEY'RE AWAKE NOW! GET THEM TO THE DINING ROOM!"
Robin flinched at the screaming, before being pulled away by another clone that was dressed like a French waiter.
Dick was seated at the dining room that had changed significantly. The table was probably around triple its original size, there was a large crystal chandelier hanging over it, all the chairs were larger and more comfy and there were enough plates for probably the whole Justice League.
"May I take your order, sire?" A clone asked
"Order?" Robin repeated
The clone dropped a scroll in front of him
The young hero opened it and felt his jaw nearly become unhinged. There must have been every single breakfast food possible written down.
"Uh… I'll take the… er… The pancakes?"
"How many, sir?"
"Four?"
"Anything to drink with that?" the clone asked
"Can I get a glass of orange juice?"
The clone nodded and sank into his shadow.
Connor entered the room a second later. He greeted his teammate and sat on his left.
"What's going on?" Robin asked curiously
"Agni made breakfast for everyone." Connor said simply as another clone appeared to take his order.
Two blurs entered the room and halted in front of the table.
"Are we in the right place?" Wallace asked, watching a clone place a large plate of pancakes in front of Robin and a large platter of bacon and eggs in front of Connor.
"There you are sirs." A clone said appearing behind them, gently guiding them to a set of chairs.
The two speedsters eyes bulged when they saw the menu and immediately began watering at the mouth.
"I'll take fifteen pancakes, twelve eggs, ten pounds of bacon, six waffles, three loafs of buttered toast, a platter of French toast as well, four grilled cheese sandwiches, a basket of fruit, a bowl of oatmeal, a plate of cream-of-wheat, a dozen hard boiled eggs and a large glass of chocolate milk." Wally said
"Triple that. I'm feeling quite ravenous." Wallace added
Within half hour all of the team was sitting around the table, eating breakfast while chattering happily.
"How did you do this?" Kaldur asked Agni who was sitting next to Zatanna, eating an apple quietly to himself
"My clones did most of the work." Agni replied "I only gave orders. Though I did have to summon around twenty of them."
"Thish is good shtuff." Wallace said, going through his eighth stacks of waffles.
"What is going on here?" an eerily calm voice said behind them
Everyone looked up to see Batman, Superman, Flash and Wonder Woman.
"Breakfast." Wally said
"Count me in!" Flash shouted gleefully and sped into a seat. "What is on the menu?"
"Everything." Wallace said "Literally… EVERYTHING."
"You should join us Batman." Robin said "It's probably just as good as Alfred's."
Batman was reluctantly led to a seat and a plate of food was set before him. Everyone watched as the Dark Knight took a bite.
Everyone held their breath as they waited for him to comment, but he took another bite
And another
And another
And another
Then he looked up and stared blankly at everyone
…
…
…
"Why are you staring at me?"
Everyone dropped their gaze and quickly went back to their food.
It wasn't long before the word got out and the rest of the League began showing up.
"This is some good bacon." Green Lantern John Stewart said as he munched through a platter of it "And trust me, I know good bacon when I eat it. Reminds me of my mama and how she made it."
Agni stretched after a few minutes and looked at Zatanna. "We should get going."
Zatanna looked up from her coffee "To where?"
"I'm taking you on a date." Agni said
"Right now?"
"Yup."
"But you hate going out on dates…"
"So?"
"I have training to do. Can't we go another time?"
Agni sighed and shrugged his shoulders "Fine… I'll just go invite Anna to go on a shopping spree on my expense."
Zatanna shot out of her chair and grabbed his arm "On second thought let's go now." She said giving him a kiss on the cheek.
A couple of hours later
Agni pulled Zatanna into a restaurant after many hours of shopping, watching her try on outfits, put them back and try new ones, look at hundreds pairs of shoes It wasn't their usual hang out place that sold milkshakes, but an actual fancy restaurant. It was perplexing to Zatanna, Agni hated places with more than… two people in it. It was usually difficult to just get him to agree to go to the mall.
"What are we doing here?" Zatanna asked bewildered
"I told you I'm taking you out on a date." Agni explained as they sat down, his expression was very carefully not a scowl at the many people that were around him. "I found out what I thought was a date wasn't what a date was supposed to be."
Zatanna arched her eyebrow at him suspiciously "You didn't read that book again, did you?"
Agni paled slightly and shook his head, he promised never to pick up that book again after what happened…
The dark elf walked down the Cave with a book in his hands. He was concentrating on it, ignoring his surroundings completely. He didn't realize he had stepped on M'gann's foot, tripped over Wolf and he didn't hear Batman call his name nearly a dozen times.
Agni was on a quest and nothing would stop him.
He kept on walking, bumping into the walls of the cave a couple of times, until he reached the couch in front of the T.V. Sitting down, he turned the page and stared at the words intently.
"What is he doing?" Richie asked his counterpart
Dick chuckled quietly "I got him a book." He answered simply
"What kind?" Richie inquired curiously
"You'll see."
The Team's magician walked into the living room, looking for her boyfriend. She found him sitting on the couch next to Connor who was watching static on the screen, a activity both him and Agni did quite a lot, but Agni wasn't staring at the screen. He was reading a book.
It wasn't unusual for Agni to read. He would read different books that he would see Zatanna reading from time to time or he would read spell books if he needed to.
Zatanna sat next to him and gazed at him for a few moments waiting for him to acknowledge she was there like he usually would. She coughed politely to get his attention
A grunt was all Agni responded
The raven haired magician eyed him bemusedly. She decided to leave him be and turned the television on to an actual show.
After nearly an hour Agni stirred from his reading position and looked around. He smiled widely and stretched his stiff body conveniently placing an arm around Zatanna's shoulders, rubbing her right arm. She looked up at him in surprise; Agni didn't usually do Touchy Feely, it made him really uncomfortable, he still had trouble hugging at times.
"Hey babe, you want a massage?" he said suddenly in a tone that sounded nothing like his usual formal and relaxed tone. It sounded more… annoying, but she decided to go along.
"Sure, I would love one." She said giving him a smile.
The dark elf stood up and walked around the couch, he flipped his book open for a moment before closing it and dropping a pillow over it, hiding the cover from view
Zatanna relaxed her body as Agni's hands began to knead the knots in her shoulders. She inwardly in relief. Maybe he was finally coming around.
Agni went over what the book said in his mind, Robin wouldn't lie to him when he said that book would make Zatanna love him… right? He might not be good in relationships but he would know when something was utter bullshit.
Yeeeeaaaah… no. Not really.
He lowered his hands and rubbed his sides, tickling her slightly, causing her to giggle and shake.
"This is a bad idea."
The dark elf looked around to see who said that, but saw no one so continued tickling her.
Looking up at him, completely shock at his new attitude as he tickled her, Zatanna smiled sincerely. She heard a faint voice telling Agni to stop, but ignored it.
Agni brushed his hands on her sides causing her to erupt in laughter, he grinned to himself, the book might have been right after all
Then his hand went across her chest groping something it never should.
It took Agni several days to realize what had happened.
Zatanna had shot up while blasting him with four different spells and screaming at him saying several things he didn't quite understand.
Agni went over what the book had said in his mind before saying outloud. "Oh you must just be on your period." He said with a shrug "That's why. Or you are probably just… achin' for my bacon and don't wanna to say it."
He barely dodged the next fifteen spells that were sent at him.
The sixteenth pinned him to the wall and forced him to listen.
After hearing what she had to say, Agni shrugged. "I was just doing what the book said."
Zatanna went over to the couch and picked up the book. She stared at the cover of it for several seconds in astonishment.
It said 'Relationships for the completely idiotic and desperate douche bags, by John Smith.'
It was only after he sulked for a few hours did he hang Robin off the ceiling with metal wires by his toes
So when Agni paled… he had a good reason.
They ate their meal lightheartedly, enjoying one others company. It was still midday when they finished so they left the mall with their purchases in a Bag of Holding and went to walk in the park. They sat down on a bench next to a small pond. There had desert left over from the restaurant, so they ate it while watching their surroundings.
"Zatanna?" Agni said suddenly
"Yes?"
Agni looked at her with a serious face. "What would you say… if I said 'I love you'?" he asked slowly
Zatanna smiled and leaned into him "I would say 'Who are you and what have you done with Agni?'" she said jokingly, before looking up and seeing his solemn expression "Wait… you're serious?"
The dark elf ran a hand through his white hair "Well… uh… yeah." He said hesitantly "I just wanted you to know."
Zatanna stared at Agni suspiciously "You are messing with me are you?"
"Am I the kind of person to play that kind of joke?"
The magician was silent for a moment
…
…
…
"Yes…" Zatanna said with a nod on her head "With the right motivation."
"Well true," Agni agreed reluctantly "but nonetheless I was serious."
Zatanna sat up and look Agni in the eye "What's wrong?" she asked "Something is up."
"Nothing is up. I just felt like telling you my feelings." Agni said defensively "Why do you think something is up?"
"Maybe because usually a date with you doesn't entitle going out to a fancy restaurant, and you've let me hold your hand in public?" She offered
Agni looked at her thoughtfully "Yeah… I see that."
"So, tell me. What's wrong?"
Cursed Shadow gazed at the small body of water next to them in silence. "My end is coming."
It took many minutes of reassurance to calm Zatanna down and explain to her what he meant. Even then she still didn't feel too good about having a death notice hanging over her boyfriend's head. Agni shrugged and said he would deal with it when the time would come, but until then he wanted to enjoy her company.
The sun was beginning to set; it could be seen over the peak of the Cave's mountain. They decided it was time to get home.
Agni walked over to the edge of the pond and stared over the water for several minutes in silence. He felt Zatanna's hand slither into his as she stood next to him quietly.
"What am I going to do when I have to leave?" he asked quietly
"Don't." was all Zatanna answered
Agni turned towards her hesitantly and pulled her into a hug, they watched the sun set until it was just barely seen together, both pondering what would happen.
A thought suddenly struck the dark elf, he looked at Zatanna and asked "I'm not sure, since that book was wrong, but isn't there when I'm supposed to kiss you?"
Zatanna rolled her eyes at him and smiled "Yes?"
Agni nodded his head thoughtfully "Right… how exactly do I go about doing that?"
With a small giggle at his cluelessness, the raven haired magician grabbed him and pulled him into a kiss. He pulled her in close and deepened the kiss, feeling her wrap her arms around him. They stayed like that for several seconds before letting go breath.
"There is someone watching you"
The dark elf suddenly tensed, he could have sworn he heard someone say something
"Did you hear that?" Agni whispered, still holding Zatanna close.
Her head nodded slightly as she glanced over his shoulder.
"They're by the trees fool…"
Agni arched an eyebrow and quickly kissed Zatanna again. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a small flash of light. "They are in the tree at our right, about sixteen meters away." he murmured
Something hard glided out of Zatanna's sleeve. Without looking, Agni knew it was her wand.
"You are so awesome." Agni said, sliding a knife out if his boot's sheath.
"I know." Zatanna answered cheekily before letting him go and whipping her wand towards the trees "Niatser meht"
Cursed Shadow, ducked beneath Zatanna's spell bolt, pulled a pair of knives out. Just as the spell bolt flew by him he set fly to the pair of knives.
There were several yelps and *thunks* as several more knives shot into the trees and bushes.
Agni and Zatanna cautiously advanced towards the trees. They pushed the bushes slowly aside.
To see Artemis and Wally nailed to a tree.
"What, are you guys doing here?" Agni demanded
"Is anything we say going to get you to let us go?" Wally asked
"Most likely not." Zatanna answered "Why were you spying on us?"
"Artemis said Agni took you out on a date." Wally asked "So we followed and tried to get pictures."
"Why?"
"Robin." Agni said, narrowing his eyes
"And Richie." Artemis said
"Bastards." Agni muttered
"I totally agree." Wally said "They set us up."
"Where is the camera?" Zatanna demanded
"They took it." Artemis said glumly "It disappeared after five pictures."
Agni sighed and pulled his knives out of their clothes so they could move away from the tree. "Say, Wally, when are you taking her out on one of these date things?"
The speedster spluttered "Why would it take her on a date?!"
"Because you are clearly head over heels for her." Zatanna responded with a sly grin that was matching Agni's almost perfectly
"I am not! She's loud and aggravating!"
"Same goes for you, Arty." Agni said to the blonde archer
"I am not!" Artemis retorted "He's annoying and an idiot."
"And why would I take her out?!" Wally continued shouted "She's… she's Artemis!"
The previously mentioned archer whirl led around and now shouted at Wally "What's wrong with me?"
"Nothing! I just wouldn't go out me you!" he shouted back
"Why? Are you gay?" she mocked
"No! I've gone out with several girls!" Wally retorted "I'm not gay in the slightest!"
"There is nothing wrong with being a homosexual…" Agni muttered
"Then I must be too much woman for you." Artemis said haughtily
'You are not!"
"Then prove it! Take me out on a date!"
"Fine!" Wally said holding out his arm "Common!"
Artemis took his arm and they walked out of the park before Wally smacked himself in the forehead
"Crap I forgot my wallet in the Cave."
A piece of leather flew through the air and pegged him in the back of his head. He picked it up seeing it was a wallet he opened it. Inside was a small piece of paper that said
You can use mine. Don't worry, just use the credit cards. Batman gave them to me saying I shouldn't use my gold coins, it was making people suspicious. I don't exactly understand the worth of this little piece of plastic, so it doesn't matter. Go insane with it.
CS
"What does it say?" Artemis asked
"Nothing important." Wally said "Now common. I'm going to show you the night of your life."
"You better." Artemis grumbled "Or I'm going to shove an arrow down your pants. One of the exploding ones."
Back near the pond Agni and Zatanna stared at the couple in wonder.
"That escalated quickly…" Agni observed "All I did was ask a simple question."
Zatanna nodded "I was going to happen any day now anyways."
"Knowing them it probably would have taken months."
"True." Zatanna said, shivering in the slight breeze.
The sun was gone and now nowhere to be seen. Stars twinkled in the dark sky above them. The park was now deserted, leaving them standing alone next to the pond."
"Now, where were we?" Zatanna said, snuggling up to him
"I think we were in the middle of a quite enjoyable action known as kissing." Agni answered
"Just shut up and kiss me already."
Half an hour later
The magician and… whatever it is Agni is, walked into the Cave, hand-in-hand smiling happily. They strolled into the living room where the whole team (minus a certain speedster and archer) where gathered.
"Salutations." Richie said, barely looking up from his game of cards he was playing with his counterpart, Connie and all three Roys.
"Who's winning?" Agni asked, taking a seat on the couch next to Zatanna.
"Roy." Richie answered
Agni looked at the table "Which one? Elven, Human or the short one?"
"Hey!" Arsenal protested "I'm not short!"
"You are compared to them." Agni answered
Roy was fitting in well with the Team and their counterparts. He was just crazy enough to not find the Rangers too odd. He got along well with his clone and Bloody Arrow even though it was quite confusing who was whose counterpart. Up until them they just decided Human was the counterpart to Elven Roy and Arsenal must have his own back in the Ranger's dimension or maybe he didn't like Agni… it didn't really matter
"So is anyone doing anything?" Agni asked
"Playing cards." Robin answered
"We're watching… what is it called again?" Anna said
"Television." M'gann answered
"Right that…" Anna answered, staring at the screen. A show called Jersey shore was on and it completely flabbergasted her. Like what the hell was wrong with this dimension?
"Right, splendid." Agni said "All of you put that down, I have something for us to do."
"Later Agni." Robin said, picking up a card and scowling at it.
"Maybeh inna bit, cap'n" Berzerker answered "I'm feelin luckey."
Wallace looked up from the television screen. "What is it?"
Agni reached into his bag and took out dozens upon dozens of packages
Arty looked up with an arched eyebrow "What's that?"
Roy (Human) looked over at the piles of boxes. "Paintball guns?"
Cursed Shadow nodded "I thought it would make a good strategy training session. Not to mention they seem to be fun and somewhat not lethal."
"I'm in." Wallace said picking one up.
After w few minutes almost everyone had a gun. Agni had bought countless different kinds of paintball guns. There was everything from the classical gun, ones modeled after real guns and even several bows and cross bows that shot darts and arrows that would explode into paint.
There were several boxes of more ammunition and a few of what Agni was told 'customizing add-ons' in words he understood they were different things you add to your gun to help you. He had bought scopes, flashlights, lasers and several other things he had no idea what they were.
After being almost begging to join them, the two Pranksters Supreme and three redheaded archers joined them, picking out several of the weapons for themselves.
"Okay here are the rules," Agni said "There are no rules. Enjoy." He said, with a wave of his hand the shadows swallowed his companions only to spit them back out in several random places in the cave.
Agni looked over to the couch where Connor was still sitting, not wanting to play.
"Join us." The dark elf said "This is a team bonding… game."
"I don't feel like it." Connor replied continuing to watch what was on the screen
Agni sighed, he didn't want to do this, but if Connor didn't want to join on his own accord…
He lifted his gun and pointed it at Connor's head.
The clone's head jerked as the paintball hit it. Paint ran down his face and he wiped it away angrily
"What was that for?!" he demanded
Agni shrugged and shot again.
"Stop that!"
A third shot caught him above the eye, leaking yellow paint onto his eyelashes.
Connor growled and leaped at Agni who disappeared with a puff of smoke.
"Shadow clone?" Connor muttered.
He spun around quickly, hearing something come shooting at him, another paintball hit him in the head.
A small piece of paper came floating down from the rafters. Connor caught it out of the air and looked at it. It read;
Come get me.
Connor growled and picked up a large looking paintball gun "Oh it's on."
Across the cave, near the entrance, Robin appeared out of the shadows on the wall. He picked up the gun he chose and looked around carefully.
Okay… first, I need to play to my strengths. I'll stick to the shadows and try to forge an alliance with someone stronger. Maybe I can find Kal or Kaldur somewhere. There aren't any rules so I'll have to be careful.
Robin shot a grappling hook to the rafters in the air and leaped away.
He stuck to the shadows until he got into the training room. Inside were several on his teammates, all firing at each other.
Red Arrow, flipped through the air, firing several paintarrows at Anna who dodged them by jumping behind a conjured wall. She picked up her gun and fired several shot at Berzerker. The dwarf punched the ground and a short dirt wall shot up, absorbing the shots and sending them back at her.
"Wow… chaos." Robin said
"You speak the truth." A voice said behind him.
Before he could do anything, several paintballs hit him in the back, knocking him off the beams and onto the floor.
Richie appeared in mid air next to him, with a large grin on his face. "I figured if I waited long enough, you would be up there."
"Hold on," Robin said holding up his hands "I bet if we worked together we could out maneuver ever one here. Think about. I'm a genius and we're the same person."
Richie lowered his gun. "True… I bet if we went to our workshop we could make these guns even better."
Robin nodded and they both disappeared in a small crack of dark shadows.
Zatanna calmly exited the shadows in a hallway next to the bedrooms. She would really have to talk to Agni about abruptly shoving them down their shadows. She peeked around the corner to see of anyone was there.
Standing with his back to her was Arsenal who was busy attaching the gun to his mechanical arm. He was so focused he never noticed the magician behind him until he felt several painful paintballs hit him in the back.
"Hmm…" Zatanna said as she ran down the hall "I guess it was smart to take an automatic."
She turned another corner into the training room and was immediately almost pelted by hundreds of paintballs. She ducked behind a pillar and took cover
"Get 'er!" Connie screamed, he propelled himself into the air and fire off several shots with his gun.
Zatanna screeched as several hit her arm and he launched herself away from the pillar and behind cover.
"Chaos, eh dudette?"
She turned around to see Kal was crouched behind the low wall as well. He was holding a long large rifle in one hand and a pipe in the other.
Zatanna quickly raised her gun to shoot him, but he pushed it away gently
"There is like, no need to shoot me dudette…" Kal said "I'm like, so neutral. Like Switzerland."
Roy suddenly came bounding around their cover and pointing a gun at them.
Without looking Kaldur twitched his gun and shot Roy several times in the crotch. The Elven redhead fell over moaning pitifully.
"Sorry dude… I really didn't want to do that." Kal said apologetically. He took a long draw from his pipe and peeked over the top of their cover. "Arty, Anna and one of the Roys are over there."
Zatanna looked over. Arty was dodging several shots from both Roy and Anna by jumping through the air. Then suddenly Anna stopped and started firing at Roy, forcing him to hide behind another one of the makeshift covers (this time it was the computer system). Arty jumped up and shot Anna several times who proceeded to retreat too like her wounds.
Smoke filled the room quite unexpectedly. Instead of cackles or a deep chuckle like everyone expected, there were several loud bangs. Paint began splattering everywhere, compelling everyone to say down.
Zatanna managed to get a quick a look from her cover and she saw Arsenal holding out his robotic arm. It was firing large blasts of paint to wherever he pointed it.
"If we use the cover of smoke we might be able to make it to the door and down the hall to the kitchen." Kal said "If not we'll be trapped here."
The magician nodded and sat up ready to bolt for the door.
Kal counted down and they both ran.
After several feet, there was another loud bang and pant blasted through the arrow almost hitting them. Kal dropped after another bang hit him in the leg. He raised his hand and water gushed from the floor creating a large ice wall in front of him.
"Go!" he said dramatically "I'm like so done… I'll cover you."
Zatanna stared at him oddly. They were like twenty feet away from the door, but she decided to pay along
She put on a strong face and nodded "I'll come back for you." She promised
Kal shook his head sadly "Don't bother dudette. I'll be like so injured and stuff. Save yourself and tell stories about me."
Zatanna waved and dashed over towards the door.
Right as she went in, she turned around saw water rushing around him, swallowing the training room in its wetness.
Agni slowly exited a shadow on the beams of the Cave's roof. He smiled a bit to himself. The training was going splendidly. Everyone was creating and using strategies for the battle. Alliances were created and torn apart in betrayal. They were learning from their mistakes (Roy was still crying in the corner while holding his privates). Robin and Nightwing had disappeared but they were probably just creating some kind of paintball missile.
Arsenal was probably doing the best at the moment. He had nearly everyone pinned down with that arm of his.
Time to take him down a notch.
Agni pulled his weapon off of his back. He had taken for himself a large sniper gun. He was told it was good for just about everything. He had attached a scope and laser to it, because he was a horribly bad shot.
Taking aim, Agni waited a few minutes before firing. Was it worth giving away his place? Connor might be around and he was out for his blood.
With a shrug Agni decided to take the risk and he fired at Arsenal.
The robotic armed redhead was enjoying himself. He was completely schooling them with his arm. After the few modifications he made he was nearly invincible with it.
Well… that is what he thought until a paintball struck him strong straight in the temple, sending him toppling over.
First everyone's instincts were to jump out and take Arsenal out, but they realized if he was taken out that means there was a sniper somewhere.
Berzerker motioned the peace sign to Anna who nodded and did the same to Arty. They looked around carefully and didn't see anyone. They quickly took cover next to Berzerker.
"Who is it?" Arty asked
Anna looked over their small wall, putting her eyes into infravision and glanced around. " I can't tell. Whoever it is must be using a cooling spell."
"Then its Richie most likely." Arty said
"Wrong…" said a voice above them.
Several paintballs were suddenly shot at them, missing Arty and hitting Anna in the chest. Arty and Berzerker quickly jumped out of the spot and relocated to a safer location, leaving Anna to the sniper.
Agni cursed under his breath. That was meant for Arty, but he missed because he kept hearing some stupid voice. It told him to be careful he would be seen. Yeah, what does a voice in his head know?
Before Agni could answer himself, he heard a growl and Conner came zooming up next to him.
"Agni!" he roared firing several paintballs at the dark elf.
Cursed Shadow let himself fall backwards, he flipped through the air and landed deftly on his feet. He raised his gun and shot Roy who was picking up his own gun to shoot him. Accidently, the shot hit him below the belt and he slumped to the floor whimpering in pain again.
Agni rolled left to dodge Connor. He nearly ran into Anna who was slowly standing up.
"Hey Anna!" Agni called, ducking under Connors paintballs and rocketing across the room.
He was answered by a volley of paintballs that came from Arty, Berzerker and Arsenal.
The dark elf yelped and ducked behind the computer system in the corner of the room, finding Kal slumped against it.
"Hey man," Kal greeted "Want a smoke?"
Agni shrugged and took Kal's spare pipe. He lifted his arm over the edge and fired several shots to where he thought Arsenal was before lowering it and taking a draw from the pipe. "You know… I haven't smoked in twenty years." Agni said
"That sucks, Dude," Kal said "I have some really great leaf. I bought it in Gotham."
"We really should move or they are going to get us." Agni said, flinching as a paintball went over his head, hitting the wall next to them "Have you seen Zatanna?"
"Yeah I helped her get away a little while ago." Kal answered
Agni nodded his thanks and ducked his head. A blast from Conner hit him in the foot. "Shadows?"
"Shadows would be nice, dude." Kal agreed.
Connor, tired of firing his gun, leaped into the air and landed on the computer system, smashing it into a million pieces.
Expecting to see Agni behind it, he was disappointed to find a small piece of paper
Me and Agni decided it would be like stupid and stuff to wait around for you to get us so we are going to go find a better and more defendable place. So like, later dude.
Connor snarled in frustration and punched the wall next to them.
Anna and Berzerker came running up to see Agni wasn't there.
"That bastard shot me." Anna growled "I am so going to get him back."
Connor nodded and frowned, he focused on his hearing, but he couldn't hear Agni speak anywhere
"How does an alliance between us sound?" Anna asked "We are both out to get Agni."
Superboy thought it over. What was there to lose? So he nodded and offered his hand.
Anna shook it and they turned around, Arty and Arsenal where holding their weapon's up at them.
"Run?" Anna suggested
Connor opened his mouth to reply, but before anything came out several shots were heard. Arty and Arsenal slumped to the ground in pain, showing a smiling Red Arrow behind them. He lowered a small gun that looked like a pistol.
"Can I join the team?"
Anna shrugged "Sure."
Agni and Kal fell onto the sofa in the living room; they sighed and lowered their guns seeing there was no one in the room.
There was a quiet sound of whooshing air behind them, they both rolled off the couch in opposite directions and lifted their weapons
Kaldur was holding Zatanna at gunpoint.
"Oooh. A hostage situation. This is will be great fun." Agni said smirking to himself
"Please drop your weapons." Kaldur said "I would rather not hurt her if I do not have to."
Agni and Kal slowly lowered their weapons to the floor and slid them over.
Just as Kaldur was about to lower his gun, he saw Agni's fingers tap rapidly against his leg. That always meant he was using the Ranger's sign language.
Before he could raised the gun again, Zatanna flipped him over her shoulder judo style, he hit the floor and before he could get back up, Kal leaped on him to hold him down.
Agni conjured some rope and they type him up to keep him from attacking.
The three of them sighed and sat back down.
"This is quite the stressful training event, man. It's like more stressful than that time you dropped us into the gladiator arena, dude." Kal said
Agni nodded and lifted the pipe to his mouth
"Are you smoking?!" Zatanna shouted
Almost dropping the pipe Agni flinched from the loud noise "Yes…"
"Since when do you smoke?"
Agni shrugged his shoulders "Just as much as I drink. It happens every now and then."
He didn't realize until too late the flying hand that knocked it out of his mouth. He glared at Zatanna for a moment before sighing and handing it back to Kal.
"Dude… like what should be do now? Hide and stuff? Kal asked
Giving the room a good look, Zatanna shook her head "If we move the couches this could be a very defendable place, especially since we have all of the extra guns and ammunition."
Agni nodded in agreement and stood up. "Let's get to work before they find us."
On the other side of the cave, the Zeta-Tube suddenly called out "08, Green Arrow."
Oliver Queen, otherwise known as Green Arrow, stepped into the cave. He was planning on taking Roy, Roy and Roy (oh that was going to be a headache) out for a nice lunch in Star City.
He looked around. The entrance/briefing room was completely empty and not a sound could be heard.
Slowly walking into the training room, he was what looked like a battlefield. There were craters, small walls ever few feet, paint everywhere…
"What happened here?" he muttered to himself, taking another step.
Before he knew it, he was pushed by an invisible force against a wall.
Floating in front of him was M'gann and her counterpart. Both were holding paintball guns and pointing them at him.
"Who's he with, you think?" Megg'n asked
"What do you mean who am with?" Green Arrow asked
M'gann gazed at him for a moment. "He's not part of the game, let him go."
Green Arrow dropped to his feet and dusted himself off "What's going on here?"
"There they!" someone shouted behind them "They have Green Arrow on their side! Take them down!"
"Wait wha?!" Green Arrow asked frantically
He darted away quickly as the two physics were assaulted with paintballs that merely bounced off their telepathic shield and shot back at the attackers.
Green Arrow looked over his hide place. Arsenal, Bloody Arrow, Arty, Berzerker and that-girl-who-was-Zatanna's-counterpart were shooter fiercely at the young Martian and Gnome who were casually sending their own paintballs back at them.
"What the hell is going on here?" Ollie demanded from no one in particular.
"Green Arrow is over there!" Roy shouted "Arsenal, get him."
A large glob of blue paint blasted into Oliver, taking him off his feet and flying several feet into the air before landing on the ground and skidding a few feet across the ground.
Oliver Queen slowly stood up. His clothes were barely green anymore, he had paint in places he didn't know he had AND he had red paint in his fabulous blonde beard.
"You… just got paint… on my new costume." Green Arrow said slowly reaching for his bow "Prepare to be annihilated."
Several arrows shot at them. Red Arrow lost his gun and Anna had hers pinned to the wall. Before they could take out their secondary ones, the two shape shifters unleashed a barrage of paintballs at them.
"Retreat to the hallway!" Arsenal cried, dashing away, scooping up a discarded gun.
Green Arrow made to chase them, but was nearly hit by several paintballs. He looked around and saw in a corner, Superboy was hiding with Kid Zoom, Berzerker and Bloody Arrow
He was forced to take cover again as Team Arsenal came back out with renewed ferocity and began firing at both him and the two shape shifters and Team Superboy, who was giving orders to concentrate fire on both groups.
Looking around him, Oliver noticed a bow on the ground, attached to a quiver. He picked it up, seeing that it fired arrows similar to paintballs.
A small stone flew through the room. At first Green Arrow thought it was nothing, but it them exploded in mid air and send paintballs everywhere. Guessing on the little he knew, that msut have been a spell from Arty's slingshot.
Crap, they had magic powers. He was going to need backup.
"Greed Arrow to Watch Tower, Do you copy?"
"I hear you loud and clear Green Arrow, what is wrong?" the voice of Batman said
"The whole cave is a battlefield right now, requesting major reinforcements!"
"Roger that, Reinforcements are on their way."
Green Arrow sighed in relief. There was no way he was going down by a bunch of brats.
"Batman 02, Black Canary 13, Wonder Woman 03"
The World's Greatest Detective shot out of the Zeta-Tube with batarangs drawn; a quick glance around the room was all he needed to see there was no immediate threat, following him quickly were his fellow Leaguers Black Canary and Wonder Woman. They looked around the front room of the Cave suspiciously… The Watchtower had just gotten a call from Green Arrow requesting urgent backup, but the cave seemed mostly empty.
"I do not see anything out of the norm." Wonder Woman said "Is it possible it was a prank?"
Batman shook his head "I doubt it."
The three Leaguers slowly crept through the cave towards the training room. They opened the training room door and quietly walked in.
"We're surrounded." Batman whispered quietly
"GET THEM!"
The Dark Knight raised his cape to cover his face and dashed away as hundreds of paintballs pelted where he was standing seconds before. Wonder Woman raised her bracelets and deflected a great many of them, but was force to retreat while Black Canary destroyed many of the projectiles with her Canary Cry
"Is that Batman?" Someone yelled over the chaos of flying paintballs
"I wonder who he owes his allegiance to…"
Batman gritted his teeth and dashed out of the fire, he leaped into the shadows to keep himself concealed. What the hell was going on?
The teens increased their fire on Black Canary and Wonder Woman, driving them back towards one of the doors. The two adults couldn't keep up with the steady stream of paintballs that never seemed to end.
"We should do a tactical retreat." Wonder Woman suggested, wiping pain out of her hair.
"I agree." Black Canary said, panting after having to use her Canary Cry so many times.
The two superheroines fled out of the training room and down the hall towards the kitchen in hopes of finding haven. Batman had disappeared on them, but that was nothing new… he was Batman, him disappearing was like Agni doing something stupid or Robin butchering the English language.
Back in the training room, Team Arsenal slowly crept through it. They planned on finding Team Agni and destroying it. Maybe they should team up with Team Connor since they had a vendetta against them to.
Robin and Nightwing showed up for a short while with amazing new paintball technology. Their turrets and miniguns almost took out both teams, but the sheer number of Team Arsenal and Connor managed to overwhelm them and they fled to the kitchen where Team Agni was most assuredly hiding. They would need to be stingy with their ammo since Agni most likely was guarding the stockpile.
The aforementioned dark elf was pacing across the living room. His Team was severely outnumbered and several adults had just crashed the game. This called for a completely new strategy.
His Team was a lot better off since the Pranksters Supreme joined him and with their paintball turrets no one could probably get close to their base, but still something bugged him.
"Someone is above you…"
Agni spun around "Who said that?" he demanded
"Said what?" Nightwing asked looking up from a gun he was modifying to shoot paintball grenades he made.
"I heard it too." Zatanna murmured "I've been hearing it all day."
"Hearing what?" Kaldur asked, after a short chat he decided to join Team Agni instead of being shot several times by the insane Drow.
"I keep hearing this voice. It's telling me things." Agni explained "And I'm not crazy sine Zatanna can hear it to."
"Well… what did this mysterious voice say?" Robin asked doubtfully
"That there was someone above me." Agni said dismissively.
"The voice was right." A dark voice said.
Flutters of a cloak sounded behind the Drow, causing him to spin around, whipping ut his paintball gun.
Batman grabbed the gun hand and knocked it wide as Agni shot, hitting Richie and Dick in the chest several times. The Dark Knight disarmed Cursed Shadow with blinding speed and kicked his feet out from under him.
"You half son of a caribou." Agni muttered under his breath
"Excuse me?"
"I said it's great to see you." Agni corrected quickly
Batman gave the bat-glare at Agni who staring back into it trying hard not to flinch, held out his hand for his paintball gun. After placing in its holster he asked the World's Greatest Detective what he was doing there.
"I got an emergency call from Green Arrow. He said this place was a battlefield."
"That is because we are in the middle of a mock battle for training."
"And you are using paintball guns?"
Robin nodded "Plus turrets, bows and cannons…" he said ticking them off on his fingers.
"Don't forget the grenades." Nightwing added "I'm almost done with its launcher."
"How did Green Arrow get pulled in?"
Agni shrugged "No idea. I didn't even know he was here until a moment ago. He probably walked into the training room. By the accounts of Richie and Rob, it's a warzone."
"Captain, we have several dudes coming down the hall. Like at least five." Kal called, he was standing guard near the hallway's entrance where they had piled several of the couches to make a blockade. On the other side at the entrance t the kitchen they erected a barricade making the only way in being over the counter that separated the two rooms.
"Robin, get a turret over at the hallway." Agni said "Everyone get to your posts and prepare to defend our resources."
Batman observed quietly as Agni set up the defenses while standing in a dark corner out of the crossfire.
"Robin we need a strategy." Agni barked, he could hear footsteps running down the hall. "How long can we defend this place?
"The turret should work pretty well, just don't get in its way." Robin said, picking up a large gun he had customized for himself "Just let it do its thing, you can pick off anyone that gets by with that sniper rifle until I finish the Hieroglyphs that will transport all the ammunition and guns to somewhere safer. "
Agni nodded and took up position behind the turret."Zatanna, cast protective spells over those boxes, Kaldur watch the kitchen in case they decide to flank us, and Richie can you get that launcher done? We will need it to deal with Superboy. Kal watch out for anything I might miss."
Batman smirked; Agni knew how to act like a leader on a battlefield, even if it was a fake one. It was no wonder he was captain.
Shots rang throughout the air as the turret automatically began firing at the first to come down the hall. Unfortunately for Red Arrow, he got hit several times across his entire body. He slumped to the floor clutching his privates
"STOP DOING THAT DAMNIT! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT HURTS?!"
Agni shot him again to be on the safe side.
"Just a bit more tinkering," Nightwing said "Robin get over here and help me. You're the technology guy."
A swishing noise alerted Kaldur, looking up he saw Kid Zoom and Kid Flash scouting out the kitchen. Luckily they hadn't noticed him, but they had noticed everyone in the living room.
"Duck."
Agni threw himself to the floor at the same two paintballs hit the overturned couch where he had been standing.
"Wallace at Three O'clock." Kaldur shouted, firing his gun to drive the speedsters off.
"Kal use your water." Agni barked, while he was on the ground Berzerker and M'gann were trying to get to the turret. He fired off his weapon again and turned to Robin. "Give me a grenade." He shouted
Robin pulled a paintgrenade out of a box and handed it to him. "Be careful with that. It has ten seconds after you pull the pin."
With a nod, the pin was pulled out and the grenade was thrown over the barricade, bouncing off the ceiling and hitting Berzerker in the back of the head.
"What was dat?" the dwarf shouted, picking it up. It was several seconds before he realized what it was
"Ahh shit."
Clearing away some yellow paint that hit his face from the explosion, Robin smiled and raised his hand "Boy Wonder, Suuuuuper Genious!"
Agni smiled and ducked as several shots went over his head. After tossing Batman a gun and winking at him he glanced over to the Atlanteans who were washing two speedsters away, when Arsenal popped through the door of the kitchen with his cannon arm raised.
"Aqualad, Waterboy get down!" Agni shouted
The two Atlanteans jumped behind cover as Robin raised the finished grenade launcher at Arsenal.
The explosion blasted him through the door, tearing it off its hinges, revealing Green Arrow with a paintarrow notched in his bow that was aimed at Agni.
Streaking towards Agni, the arrow that was aimed at his chest halted in mid air. Agni lifted it up and smiled
"I can block bullets with my sword… I'm an Arcane Archer for crying out loud. You really though I wouldn't be able to catch this?"
A barely noticeable beep echo for a split second across the room.
Agni pursed his lips and shrugged defeated. He looked up at Green Arrow with new respect "Huh… forgot about that thing."
"You must be a good weapons creator that you forget what they do." Batman remarked
The blast of paint covered Agni's whole face and chest, turning him an odd mixture of red and yellow and knocked him over onto his side. "That was just dripping with sarcasm, Batman. Just shut up and fire that thing at anyone who comes down the hall."
"I want nothing to do with this childish game." Batman answered
An arrow made a bee-line over everyone and hit the Dark Knight's mask, splattering it with bright neon yellow paint.
"Oh now it's on, Arrow." Batman hissed hefting the gun and aiming down its sights
"You okay Cap?" Nightwing shouted, heaving a large minigun over the barricade and emptying its remarkably large magazine at the green archer. After several minutes he nearer to Agni and whispered in so only he could hear "That arrow was yours."
Keeping down because paintballs were raining over the blockade, Agni gave him a thumbs up "He doesn't need to know that." He whispered back, but out loud he said "We are getting hit hard. Are we good to move?"
Robin shook his head and fired a grenade over Agni giving him enough time to get up and move away from the hallway's entrance.
"We are severely outnumbered." Zatanna said while shooting Red Arrow and making him backpedal away from barricade.
"Batman, who came with you?" Agni asked, rubbing his chest were he got hit a few times.
"Wonder Woman and Black Canary." Batman answered, he flung a batarang over
"That could turn the tides in a very whelming way." Robin noted
Nodding and closing his eye for a moment to concentrate, Agni tried to pinpoint the two Leaguers location. "They are between the kitchen and entrance room." He said opening his eyes "Wonder Woman is battling Connor and Black Canary is dealing with Bloody Arrow and Arty.
"Richie, Kal go get them." Agni said
They nodded and bounded over the kitchen counter, slowly making their way towards to front room.
Behind the Grim Ranger, the turret exploded, showing him with sparks and releasing thousands of paintballs onto the ground.
Agni cursed and picked up a paintball shotgun. He saw Berzerker dash towards him with his own gun.
The dark elf grinned "Say hello to my little friend!" he said, shooting the dwarf square in the face.
Robin made a face as he fired several grenades down the hall to halt anyone else "I'm pretty sure that's copyrighted."
"What's copyrighted?" Cursed Shadow asked clearly confused "Is that some kind weapon?"
"Never mind." Robin said quickly, he REALLY didn't want to explain to Agni what copyright was. He still couldn't comprehend revolving doors, let's not even mention the last time he was near a computer he slashed it into several small pieces.
Robin shot over the barricade again. If Richie and Kal didn't return soon, they were going to have to retreat somehow. They were being overrun just from the sheer stubbornness of the other Team. Not to mention it was almost impossible to hit them because of M'gann and Megg'n's psychic shields.
The Boy Wonder Flinched as he saw Agni crumple to the floor after being shot several times by Anna magical paintballs
"Agni's down!" Robin shouted "Zee, I need your help over here!"
Zatanna waved her wand and a large barrage of paintballs flew over them, smashing into the other Team. Dick sighed in relief seeing his counterpart enter with Wonder Woman (who was soaked in paint) and Black Canary (Who's hair had turned a sickly looking green)
They fight went on full force from then on. Connor flanked them from the kitchen side, but after taking several grenades to the face he lessened his attacks. He synchronized with the two speedsters and began hitting hard against Team Agni's defenses. Bloody Arrow and Green Arrow, were firing from behind the three of them, and managed to disable another turret allowing the two speedsters and Superboy to attack for easily. From experience, they knew that turret hurt… a LOT. On the other side, Berzerker, and Arty had almost breached the Wall of Couches and Other Living Room Items Batman Pays For, when Black Canary unleashed her Cry on them. While it didn't hurt the Dwarf and Halfling It pushed them backed.
Zatanna and Anna seemed to be having a personal duel in the midst of all the pandemonium. Anna was stubborn on getting to Agni and Zatanna wasn't letting that happen.
Robin was beginning to run out of grenades when Agni finally managed to get u, groaning in pain. "What in the gods cursed names did she put in those?"
A torrent of paintballs peppered the area around him from the resident Martian. Agni rolled away from the battle and took a quick breath. Wonder Woman was once again grappling Superboy, since only she could match his strength. The young clone was definitely getting the worse of it as he was driven off again by the Amazonian.
Batman threw a batarang through the turmoil, slicing Green Arrow's bowstring; he gave an almost-smile and picked his gun back up to finish the archer off when a badly aimed spellbolt from Anna blew apart the couch he was ducked behind.
Arsenal aimed up his cannon perfectly with Batman's now unshielded body and prepared to fire
Then everyone stopped
"Superman, 01."
Everyone froze, floating paintballs were surrounding M'gann, Richie's turret began to self combust, Agni's laser remained targeted at Anna, but he didn't fire, Robin's arm remained poised in mid air reading to throw a birdarangs, Zatanna's spell bolt hovered above Berzerker's head, Black Canary's chest remained puffed out as she kept the oxygen she was about the blast at the two speedsters in her lungs.
Slowly Superman walked into the room. His faced held a serious look.
"What is going on here?" he asked quietly
"Training exercise." Batman answered promptly, he seemed to be the only one not intimidated by the Kryptonian's presence
Superman glared at the adults in the room, mostly at Green Arrow. "You should be ashamed of yourselves. You're adults."
"These kids are vicious Supes." Green Arrow said defensively "I just came here to get Roy, Roy and Roy."
"That's going to be a headache after a short while." Agni said under his breath
Superman turned and looked at the dark elf "Let me guess, somehow this is your fault?"
"More or less." The dark elf responded
"More." Anna answered
"A lot more." Connor said as well
Agni shrugged "Pretty much, then."
Superman surveyed everyone, it took a few moments for him to notice Batman and fully realize that BATMAN was PLAYING PAINTBALL with a bunch of KIDS
"I assure you that this is a training exercise." Batman said, standing up and trying to brush paint off of his clothes.
Superman opened his mouth to scold everyone again. Surprisingly, he head shot left, suddenly turning bright blue.
The Kryptonian glared around the room, seeing the culprit was Agni who was still holding his paintball shotgun.
"What… was… that… for?" he asked between clenched teeth
"You are being a hard ass fool." Agni said shooting him again, but because of Agni's abysmal accuracy with guns, he his Connor in the face.
Connor retaliated by shooting Agni who dodged behind Superman thus the paintball missed him and hit Kal-El
"If one more paintball hits me…"Superman began, but was silence as a paintball from Bruce's gun entered his mouth.
Clark choked for a second, unable to spit he ball out he swallowed it with a unpleasant look on his face
All hell erupted as everyone began firing at Superman, turning his red and blue clothes a mixture of purple, green and brown.
"ENOUGH!" Clark shouted
Everyone paused
"Here catch." Agni called tossing a cylinder at him
Superman caught it without looking at it. It gave a small bleep in his hands and he looked down. Sighing he rolled his eyes and looked back up at Agni "Seriously?"
"That magically enhanced… it might be painful." Batman said, smirking o himself
The explosion was loud. A wave of paint washed over everyone coating them all in many different colors.
"Wow, Robin. When you said it was big, I didn't know you meant THAT big."
"I could have told you that."
Agni and Zatanna ignored the voice and laughed along with everyone else at Superman's comical face that was soaked in more paint that it must have taken to paint the Whitehouse.
"What the hell happened here?" someone shrieked
Everyone turned around to see Artemis and Wally, linked arm in arm standing in the kitchen staring with horror at the scene before them.
Robin shrugged and poked a button on the last turret. The machine suddenly turned around and sprayed the couple with paint.
When they were as dirty as everyone else, Batman cleared his throat getting everyone attention
"Okay, enough is enough." Batman said, taking charge. "Everyone, get cleaned up and then get to cleaning this place up."
Everyone laughed again and began to filing out of the room. After several pats on the shoulder from several of his colleagues, Superman followed everyone to the large show rooms.
Two hours later, after a workforce of over thirty clones of Agni, Robin, and Nightwing, led by Orange, the Cave was cleaned and most of everything was put back together. Some things were broken beyond repair even with magic, but Batman waved his hand in dismissal. It didn't matter, he was a billionaire. A few couches, chairs, cabinets, computers… tables… television screens… carpets… and a lot of other things
Batman sighed heavily
Well fuck… that was going to take a large sum of money out of his wallet.
After everything and everyone cleaned up, they all headed into the kitchen to cook up a large dinner.
While everyone cooked, Batman couldn't help but notice a few things. Wally and Artemis were nearly inseparable the whole night. That was highly unusual concerning their previous mannerisms to each other. Also Connor and M'gann were seemingly friendly to each other.
Just great… more work.
Bruce Wayne might actually be Batman, the hard working, ruthless vigilante, but that didn't mean he enjoyed unnecessary work… especially with teenagers and their hormones.
Agni smiled as he helped cook the meal. Cooking was one of the many things you learned at the Academy. So he was in charge of the chicken. At that moment he was frying up some onions for it, listening to everyone chatter about the game and everything in general, when Zatanna walked up behind him and placed a small kiss on his cheek,
"Today was a lot of fun." She whispered into his ear
The dark elf smiled at her "I'm glad you liked it."
"But," his girlfriend continued "I ruined my nails. I think you owe me a day at the spa. Plus a back massage."
Feeling his smile grow bigger Agni laughed heartedly "Anything for you."
"Anything? Did you think that through?"
Agni thought it over "Yeah, your right, never mind not anything."
Zatanna chuckled and gave him another kiss
Someone wolf whistled behind them and they blushed, Zatanna's skin turning a light pink and Agni's purplish skin had a slight red tinge to it.
The happy mood continued for a long while until something that surprised a great many happened.
"INTRUDER ALERT! INDTRUDER ALERT!" The computer wailed throughout the Cave.
In the living room, there was a slight ripple in the air a bright white portal began to open
"Agni is that you?" Batman asked, pulling out several batarangs and holding them ready
Cursed Shadow shook his head. "Mine are purple."
Picking up his skillet of onions and dashing across the room, Agni leaped over the counter, just as the portal reached full size and someone stepped out.
Swinging the skillet with all intent of knocking the intruder far into next year, Agni pushed all of his strength into it.
What he wasn't expecting was to see a old wizen hand grab the edge of it, ignoring that is was red hot. Agni felt the other hand strike him in the chest, weakening his grip as it was wrenched out of his hands, a foot kicked him in the knees with speed Flash would envy, taking him clear off feet and heavily onto his back. The figure dropped onto Agni, literally sat on him, a knife slid from the person's sleeve and was held at Agni's neck.
Agni and the person stared at each other in shock for a few seconds before the stranger spoke up with a nod of greeting.
"Agni."
Aaaaaand Cut.
Sorry for the cliffhanger there, but I couldn't resist.
And also forgive me for the slight romance/fluff. It's not really my forte so I'm not sure how good it is.
Most off the battle scenes were a bit rushed in my eyes, but that is because I didn't want to give you guys an annoyingly large chapter.
Overall though I am quite happy with this chapter. If you guys want more Romance in the story, don't be afraid to leave it in a review and tell me!
That is all for now. If anyone doesn't know, this is Book One of the World's Collide Series. Book Two is a Harry Potter Fic called 'The Next Great Adventure' You might want to read it. It'll give you a much better understanding of the Ranger's Dimension and how magic works in it.
Oh a majorly important question. Do you guys want the last few chapter in large chapters (like 20k+) or more like this size (10k)? It would help if you tell me what you prefer.
I REALLY want to hit 100 reviews before this story is finished so why don't you give me a review and answer ^^ that question^^
