Just a few weeks later there was something that would've been a rare sight if they hadn't been at the library. It had started back in fourth year when Scorpius had started sitting with Rose because, "no one dared to sit with her, and if they did they made sure to keep quiet," and he needed the silence since the other tables had gossiping girls.
Rose had profusely threatened him about not making any sounds before going back to work. It was soon clear to both of them that they were perfectly adequate study buddies.
Back at the start of sixth year they had made a truce, deciding the library was by all means a no fight/no hate zone; they could bicker outside, but not in there, since their fighting had gotten in the way of their grades. Therefore, Rose Weasely and Scorpius Malfoy studied together every day they didn't have Quidditch or prefect duties, and even sometimes then they stayed late, finishing things up.
Albus joined even them from time to time, but the boy had the worst habit of murmuring while studying and or speaking to himself in the lake or in his dorm, which just didn't agree with Rose and Scorpius.
"I just don't get it" Rose whispered rubbing her eyes. "What's the difference between a Mantris and a Hullan? The descriptions are practically the same." She pursed her lips as she re-did her messy bun angrily.
"Mantris' can be used in powerful healing potions. Use a Hullan and the drinker is dead in seconds." Scorpius muttered from his book.
"Yes I get that but how do you tell them apart?" She asked resting her cheek on her hand, looking at his profile as he worked.
"Mantris have a five pointed leaf, Hullan have six."
Rose nodded. "Thank you" She said going back to her studying, biting her lip unconsciously as she made notes on what Scorpius had just told her.
Scorpius glanced up at her when she wasn't looking for a few seconds. He saw her biting her lip and the way her hair was in the bun... No.
He was absolutely staying away from that.
A while later Rose glanced at Scorpius' watch before looking at him. "It's dinner time... Should we call it a night?" She asked softly stretching her neck.
"Er... Yeah..." He said closing his book before sliding it into his bag.
Rose picked up her things and slid them into her bag before getting up and fixing her skirt, unaware of Scorpius' self-control as he tried not to look at her legs.
"I have Quidditch tomorrow at six." She said on a whisper as they walked out of the place.
"I have it at 4." He said with a small shrug.
"Do you want to come after I'm done? No. Wait. We have rounds don't we?" She asked looking at him. They were getting close to the library's doors, a few more steps and he'd be back to being an idiot.
"Yeah and rounds take about 2 hours all on their own." He said as they neared the exit, "We can figure something out. Later Weaslebee." He gave her a smirk.
"Later you wanker!" She called after him as she made her way to her common room to leave her things since it was closer.
