I'm finishing these stories this month if it kills me.

Also, I love Jou angst, so that's what you're getting.

Disclaimer: I don't own YGO.

Birthday

Jou had a love-hate relationship with his birthday. He really wanted to enjoy the day, but that what hard when he shared it with his father. Year after year his father—who so lovingly referred to Jou as "the abortion"—would leave early in the morning and come back late at night, no matter the weekday. It was the drunkest he got every year without fail and expected a home cooked meal, a clean house, and a 6 pack to celebrate his day. Jou tried to deliver every once in awhile, but he got tired of black eyes and bruised arms even when he did everything his father wanted.

This year was special because Honda planned a whole day for the two of them: video games at the arcade in the morning, a combo pass to Kaiba Land in the afternoon, finished off with ice cream from Jou's favorite corner shop. Honda even offered to let Jou crash at his place, an offer he graciously accepted. It was his 18th birthday dammit, and no dead-beat dad was gonna ruin his day.

Stick it to the man, Jou! I believe in you!
