'Disappearance and The Rebirth of Mates'

-DREAM SEQUENCE-

Kai was standing in the middle of nowhere, An empty vast of complete darkness and nothingness. He observed the entire area but the scenery remains so he decided it's best to moved than stood there like it's nothing to him. He was certain whatever or wherever this strange occurrence/dream will lead him, it has a hidden purpose or message and all he needs to do is to find out what it is.

As he stepped forward, Kai heard a small drop of water or any form of liquid that echoed in the entire place then everything was engulfed by a blinding light and it's too much bright for his liking that he needs to cover his eyes from it. Then after an agonizing several moments the light finally died down. Kai removed the cover from his eyes and slowly opens them and was surprised that it didn't hurt nor he needs to blink so his vision would adjust completely at darkness and gloomy place to a beautiful and bright space filled with stars. A place like Planet Cray but it's like he was in a kingdom or palace as he stood in front a backward throne facing the Earth.

Kai narrowed his eyes. He didn't like this place even a bit. That's right it's much beautiful and peaceful than the place he stood awhile ago but..

"Beautiful isn't it?" A gentle voice asked behind him.

Kai eyes widened as he instantly recognized who is the owner of that voice and he was surprised to see Aichi was there as well.

" -?" Kai didn't managed to finish his question as he was immediately cut off by the boy as he commented the place.

"I find this place beautiful and peaceful mostly a place especially made for me.." Aichi said but the last part was a whisper so Kai didn't understand nor hear it. And Aichi went on. "What about you Kai-kun, What did you think of this place?"

Kai scowled at the boy it's obvious that the boy was avoiding the present situation which is why he is here in Kai's dream or what ever place they are in the moment. And also Kai could tell that there is something the boy isn't telling him more precisely hiding something from him. But despite Kai's displeasure of being ignored just like that when he wanted answers, he give his respond with bluntness. "I don't like this place."

Aichi titled his head and asked. "Why?"

"It's true it's beautiful and peaceful here but this place is like built for isolation from everything... The atmosphere is gloomy..No,It was sad." Kai scowled turns into a complete frown as he can't explain his thoughts or why he dislike this place and that irritates the hell out of him.

And his irritation been interrupted when Aichi laughed but something is off in that. It sounded hollow and sad?

"Aichi?..."

Aichi stopped from laughing when he heard Kai called him. He could tell that older male might not shown any emotions but his eyes and voice betrayed his tough exterior. It completely shows how worried and concerned he was at him which only saddened the bluenette even more but Aichi never shown any sign of weakness namely emotions as his facial expression and posture remains neutral unlike Kai who falters the moment when he noticed something is off at him.

Aichi can't helped himself but to smile at Kai. "You're blunt as always, Kai-kun. But that's what I always liked in you. You're way too honest and blunt which makes things easier."

"Easier?"

"I'm always envious of you, Kai-kun."

Envious? Huh? Why?

Kai was about to say something at Aichi but before he could mutter a word. The kingdom or palace suddenly collapsed and Kai was separated with Aichi. He tried to grabbed him but it's too late before he knows it he was once again in that empty space of nothingness. He lies there unconscious then he woke up after a moment only to find he was alone again without Aichi or the Cray-like palace.

He was confused. This things happening to him felt more real than a simple dream as he could sense the latter's emotions; Hurt and Sad. But why?

Kai was interrupted with his thoughts as a flowing ball of light went passed through him.

"What is that?" Kai stood up and followed it then he abruptly stopped his movements as the ball of light transformed into some sort figure of a human.

"Who are you?" Kai blurted out. Then the vague figure of light cleared and it turned to Kai. Revealing his true form as a knight that his dear comrade trusted. And it shocked Kai to see him here. "You're..." Before Kai could finished his sentence, The figure of knight glowed and everything engulfed of blinding light.

-END OF DREAM SEQUENCE-

Aichi opened his eyes and slowly raised his head up to look at the scenery in front which is The Earth. "A dream?" He covered his face and his expression turned grim. "Why would I dream something like that in such time like this?" . Then he heard something landed softly before of him and his eyes widened a bit to see the blue bird. But in just one blink of an eye it was gone so he shook his head for he thought it was simply his imagination as he was over-thinking too much so he relaxed himself at his throne and tried to forget his previous dream just a moment ago and resumed from his deep slumber.

Unbeknownst to him, He wasn't imagining things nor hallucinating as the blue bird was really there and stared at him for some quite time before it flew back from Earth leaving a single feather at his lap.

A sign that it was there and always watching over him.

Kai was still troubled about his dream earlier and he planned to confront the said person about it and kissed yesterday which add to his frustration and bewilderment but tried to forget it as he knew he will get the answer of his questions today but never did he expected today will be the start of the change in his life as another problem and mystery strike at him. No despair and hope arises at his well being.

As he entered card capital. The first thing he asked is where is the blunette commonly known as 'Sendou Aichi'. But what shocked him and make him weary is the respond he get from the manager.

"Aichi...?" Shin give him a baffled look. "I don't think I've heard the name before. Who is he?"

"Are you kidding? You know, Aichi... Sendou Aichi." Kai was getting angry at the stunt Shin was pulling but the latter haven't really a single idea who is the said boy.

"Has he been here before?" Shin inquired.

Kai walked towards Shin and snapped at him. " 'Has he been here before?' As if he's just another customer!"

Shin was started to get intimated at Kai as he could feel the anger emanating from his form so he tried a different approach. Change the topic. "Come to think of it, there is a customer here by the name of Sendou." He pointed at his left side where Vanguard players are fighting each other off.

And Kai see Sendou Emi, Aichi's younger sister and another Vanguard player. She was facing her friend Mai. As he caught sight of her he left Shin alone which the latter's relief and approached the younger girl.

"Sendou... Emi?"

His voice caught the attention of the peach girl and glanced up at him. "Yes? Oh. Kai Toshiki!" She instantly recognized him a strong Cardfighter and boozed his ability by asking her friend and Mai instantly agreed at her as Kai was a skillful and strong at Vanguard.

But Kai ignored their compliments about him and went straight to his business. "Where's your brother today?"

Emi look shocked by hearing his question and said. "I'm an only child..."

Kai was startled at this. He's weary about something might happen at the boy starting to grow.

Emi noticed his startled reaction and asked. "Is something wrong?"

Yet Kai wanted to make sure so he asked again. "Do you know Sendou Aichi?"

"Sendou... Is that a relative of yours,Emi?" Mai inquired curiously.

"Nuh uh. No one I know." Emi shook her head gently. "Um..."

"Never mind. It's nothing. Sorry to bother you." Kai put a hand on his temple as he could feel the upcoming headache from all this question swirling in his head. More precisely problems.

Then he walked away ignoring Shin's blubbering nonsense and leave card capital with unease at the information of them forgetting and not knowing his existence but at the mention of Tokura Misaki's name a hope blossomed in his chest at the lavender haired girl might have an idea what's going on and will recognized who is the blunette.

But his hope instantly crushed as the respond he got from the lavender haired girl is the same as the rest. Yet he thanked her but Kai restrain himself from growling out of frustration as he was looking like an idiot and crazy in front of other people searching for a certain blue haired boy that seems doesn't exist at all.

Kai blinked at the moment as if something crossed his mind which it is.

Did 'Sendou Aichi' really exist or he was just a figment of his imagination? Created by his loneliness and guilt?

He shook his head to dissolve that foolish thought as he knew deep down from himself that Aichi exist and he saved him from further destroying himself. Without realizing it as he was too engrossed with his thought; his feet brings him to the place where Aichi started his very own club that he excitedly told the brunette in the past after he succeeded establish it.

As he entered the club room. Kai couldn't helped but feel a pang of nostalgia and sadness as he knew the person who founded this place is no longer more accurately missing but he won't give up even he make himself look like an insane person for searching a person that been forgotten by everyone and probably doesn't exist at all. He won't stopped until he find the truth about his sudden disappearance as there are tons of things he wanted to repay and clear things at Aichi.

Then he remembered his dream earlier in this morning about Aichi and the knight he saw which is Blaster Blade. He could tell Blaster Blade was trying to tell him something but the question is what is it?

As if an answer to his question. A gentle flowing light slowly landed on his palm gently and the light slowly distinguish, revealing a vanguard deck and to his surprise it's A royal paladin deck and Blaster Blade is there. He tightened his grip at the deck and he completely understand if he wanted answers he must find clues about Aichi's sudden disappearance and whereabouts.

With that in mind he exited the room and as he neared at the gate of the academy. There was a certain red haired awaiting for his appearance which he instantly recognized as Ishida Naoki one of Aichi's friends and club member.

Though Kai was quite shocked to see him waiting for him but he decided to entertain him as his question about Vanguard make him remember Aichi and he knows that Aichi would like Ishida Naoki remembers how to play the game again.

Deep down, Kai hoped that Ishida will remembered Aichi but he is aware that the chances were slim if ever that happens and he must not hope too much as he might ended dismay at the outcome but he is willing to try as there's no other way around to make them realized Aichi's existence.

Kai brings him Ishida with him in the Card Capital. And there he taught him the rules but he didn't do much as Ishida's instinct in the game started kicking which only added to the truth that Aichi does exist and only disappears in their minds and his presence but never in their hearts that relieved the brunette from his worries even just a little.

Alas after awhile he finally get the card that connected him with Aichi. Blaster Blade.

When the latter saw the precious card, None of them expected such reaction even Tokura didn't see that coming Ishida Naoki started crying. And much to his surprised he said Aichi's name even Kai didn't tell him about it and that brought hope in his well-being.

After a moment, Ishida finally calmed down by Kai's encouragements, saying that he was also Aichi's mate.

"Kai, What happened to Aichi?" Naoki asked with seriousness.

"I don't know, All I know for sure is that almost nobody has memories of Aichi." Kai admitted.

"Damn it. You don't even know where Aichi is!" Naoki slammed his fist at the table with frustration. But he immediately raised his head to look at Kai straight in the eyes. "Okay. But I swear I'm gonna find him!"

Kai smiled at his determination which they really needed in their quest to find Aichi. "I swear the same." Then bump fist a sign of their agreement and determination to find out the truth and make the person responsible for Aichi's disappearance pay.

Misaki who is watching the two interrupted their new found friendship stating that the match isn't over which caught the attention of the two who instantly turned to her upon hearing her speak after her long silence.

"I don't really feel like fightin' right now." Naoki said sheepishly at her.

Misaki ignored his response and walked over at their table to be able to have a better look at Kai's avatar.

"Blaster Blade..." Misaki mumbled. For some reason the card looks familiar to her.

"Tokura, if you're curious about it, how about fighting me?" Kai suggested.

Misaki look startled at this. "But I have to mind the store..."

"It's fine." Naoki interjected her from further continuing her excuse. "There aren't any customer this late."

Kai smirked at her. "Unless... Maybe you're scared to fight me?"

"N-Not especially. It's just a Cardfight, right?" Misaki looked uncertain. "There's nothing to be afraid of..."

Naoki who is battling Kai before. Moved towards the counter so he won't disturb their fight.

"Then it's settled."

They will have a Cardfight.

And so their fight started. It was good start as Kai could see the traces of small hints that Tokura will eventually remembers Aichi. And he was right about in the end Misaki remembers Aichi. Just like Naoki, Misaki was shocked to find herself she had forgotten a very important friend but unlike Naoki; Misaki didn't cry as expression remain stern but a hint of sadness and swirling in her eyes. And Kai clearly see those things, but before he could comment about that Misaki started speaking.

"Kai, Is what you said true? Are we the only one who remember Aichi?" Misaki inquired.

"Yeah."

"Unbelievable..." Misaki muttered with disbelief.

"I know." Naoki agreed. "But, until a little while ago, it's just the two of us remembered Aichi." Naoki turned to Kai and Kai nodded with agreement then turned to Misaki once again.

"Now there are three of us, And it's not like it'll just be three forever." Kai stated with a soothing tone.

"I see.. You're right." Misaki finally smiled after hearing that.

"I'm going to find Aichi. One of these days,I will!" Kai exclaimed.

"Me too!" Naoki beamed.

"Same here!" Misaki acknowledged.

"I'm makin' a vow! One for all!" Naoki, Kai and Misaki fist bump as a silent agreement.

Just like Kai thought Blaster Blade is the one will help them connected together with Aichi which he is right about at the moment but it will be the one will bring him hope and despair at the next time he faced on with the real obstacle.

As they were busy talking about how to search Aichi. They didn't noticed a single blue bird watching over them before it disappears without any trace.

And also unbeknownst by the trio their were people watching their movements and they were planning to stop them with their full capacity in order for the others not be able to reach Aichi.

And soon, Kai and the others will learned what despair really is...
