The rest of their time at Hogwarts passed in a blink of an eye and before they knew it Rose and Scorpius were at the Potter's house enjoying each other's company during a warm summer night.
"Rose..." Scorp said coming up to her, "Come outside I want to tell you something.."
The two of them had not told anyone yet and were waiting for the right time, so they had to be careful.
"Sure yeah" Rose said making sure no one saw them go to the backyard, "What is it?" She said giving him a small smile. She missed him but had no excuses to see him unless it included Albus.
Scorpius walked them over to the middle of the porch, and couldn't hide his smile anymore, "Read this..." He handed her a piece of parchment.
Rose looked at him before looking down at the paper. She started reading and suddenly gasped and covered her mouth. "Oh my goodness! Really?" She squealed looking up at him. "Oh i'm so proud of you I knew you could do it" She said jumping into his arms and kissing him passionately.
Scorpius grinned and kissed her back, holding her tightly in his arms.
"I wanted you to be the first to know." He said softly between kisses.
"What the hell?!" Scorpius heard and the next thing he knew he was banged up against the side of the house.
"James!" Rose said after she processed what had just happened.
"What the fuck are you doing?" James growled banging Scorpius against the wall.
"James just listen" Scorpius said holding his hands up.
"No i'm not going to fucking listen you asshole, what are you trying to do? Banging Rose behind our backs?!" Before Rose could do anything James lifted his fist and hit Scorpius.
"James are fucking crazy?!" Rose screamed grabbing her cousin's arm to pull him back.
"What on earth is going on out here?" Ginny asked walking outside and gasped, "James Sirius Potter, you let go of Scorpius right now and if you lay another finger on him you will be disowned you hear me young man!"
James moved away and dropped Scorpius from the wall.
Rose went over to him. "I'm fine" he said softly to Rose though she could see he was lying.
"He's trying to bang Rose!" James said "I can't let him hurt my cousin" He said to his mother.
"Language James!" Ginny said, her cheeks slightly flushed in anger.
"He's had plenty of time to hurt me if that's what he wanted," Rose said glaring at James. "We've been dating for /months/"
James was still glaring daggers and took a step towards Scorpius when from behind them Albus said, "James's she's telling the truth!"
"You fucking knew?!" James yelled
"Well yeah… I mean I do spend my year with them" Albus said rolling his eyes slightly
James looked like he wanted to punch something but instead turned to Scorpius, "You are so dead." He growled before going back inside
"You two I will talk to later." Ginny said going after James.
"Let me see." Rose said turning to Scorpius, trying to check the hit.
"That doesn't look too good" Albus said looking over Rose's shoulder
"Yeah well your brother packs a hell of a punch..." Scorpius said dryly, "They should keep him off the punching bags during training for a bit."
"Come on we'll get something cold to put there" Rose said looking very much concerned.
Albus checked the kitchen, then they all went in when he assured them James was in his room and then could hear Ginny yelling at him. Rose took a frozen bag of beans and put it over Scorpius' cheekbone and eye softly.
"Mate..." Albus said and Scorpius looked up at him. "You know how our parents joke between them about returning the other's son without a scratch..?" He said and Scorpius nodded. Albus cracked a smile "We broke the tradition..."
Scorpius chuckled slightly, "I'll just tell my dad that we were messing around.. and besides we've broke that tradition for a while i think. Your parents just happen to be good for when Quidditch gets out of hand."
"Yeah that's exactly why we haven't, you've been hurt here but you've never been returned home hurt" Albus chuckled too.
"Your father will buy that you were messing around and got 'accidentally' hit square in the face?" Rose said not really believing it and Scorpius could see her worry when he looked into her eyes.
"I don't know." Scorpius said with a small shrug, "I'm mean James, Al, and I rough house all the time, so it's possible that one of them could have accidentally elbowed me in the eye."
"Right..." Rose said softly, running her fingers softly through the back of his hair.
"It'll be ok Rose." Scorpius said giving her a small smile and Albus was saved by the bell. Literally. The door bell rang and Albus went to get it, Scorpius was very wrong in that moment.

Rose froze as she heard the voice of her father as well as her uncle. She gave Scorpius a small apologetic look before dropping the hand on his neck. Scorpius took the frozen bag in his hand and Rose gave a small step back as Ginny came down the stairs.
"Harry, you won't believe what your son's done" She hissed until she saw Ron with her husband. "Ron... What are you doing here?" Ginny said, too on edge to be very polite
"Harry said he had some new evidence on a case so we just decided to come check it out." Ron said looking at his sister.
"What happened Gin?" Harry asked closing the door behind him. He assumed it was James, since it was Albus who answered the door. However, it didn't take him very long to figure it out because as soon as he stepped in the kitchen he saw Scorpius with a black eye as the boy adjusted the bag.
"Hello sir.." Scorpius said with a small nod.
Ginny struggled for a moment with what to say, she was sure Ron didn't know about Rose and Scorpius or no one would've heard the end of it.
"What happened?" Harry asked again looking between Scorpius and Ginny.
"Your son decided to take to violence in order to get his anger out..." Ginny said choosing her words very carefully.
"And why on Scorpius? If I may ask?" Harry asked and Rose looked like she was about to have a heart attack.
"I'll go wait in your office Harry.." Ron said patting him in the back.
Rose though she was safe until she heard a door open upstairs.
"I hit him because he's fucking Rosie" James growled from upstairs and Rose's stomach sunk to the other side of the earth.
"James Potter you know very well that is not true!" Ginny yelled at her son, but it was too late because Ron already heard it and Scorpius figured that he might as well Avada himself right now because that's where it looked like things were going.
"Harry, Ginny, would you might if I talked to Scorpius.." Ron said looking back in the kitchen strangely calm which terrified Scorpius even more considering Ron referred to him by his name and not 'Malfoy's boy', "And I'll talk to you later young lady." Ron said looking at Rose.
"Ron please, Scorpius is a good boy" Ginny said putting a hand on Ron's shoulder, "Don't be hard on him"
"No promises." He hissed as they left the room and Rose gave Scorpius a worried look before she followed them out as Ginny called her.
"Sir please I can explain... If you would let me-" Scorpius said looking at Rose's father
"I don't want any explaining son, since when have you two been dating?" Ron asked his arms tight around himself
Scorpius was quiet for a moment before saying, "February..."
"Listen, i'm going to tell you this very clearly. You stay away from my daughter, i'm not going to let you hurt her and I won't bloody let my daughter be with a Malfoy" he said clearly very much angry.
Scorpius was silent for a moment before he said, "With all due respect sir, no..." His voice low
On the other side of the door Rose gave a soft gasp.
"What did you say?" Ron said looking at Scorpius in angry disbelief
"I said no.." Scorpius said placing the ice pack on the table and standing up from his chair, "I will never agree to that." He met Ron's eyes, "For as long as I can remember you have hated me, comparing me to my father from a war that happened more than 20 years ago. He is a changed man now Mr. Weasley and not who he used to be. I'm not complaining, but for my entire live I've been forced to live with the consequences of what my family did, so I'm pretty use to insults from you, but it will never change the fact that I am proud to be my father's son and that I am unbelievably and unconditionally in love with you daughter. So I am sorry and you can say whatever you want about me, but that will never change how I feel about Rose and all I ask, not for me, but for her, that you give just one chance. Let me prove that I am worthy of your daughter and if I ever do something to hurt her you will never have to worry about seeing me again."
Once Scorpius was finished speaking he was even surprised with himself, about the speech he just gave.
Ron spent a moment looking at him intently, "Very well..." He said, his voice low. "I'll give you a chance boy... But hurt my little girl once and you'll regret it deeply" He said menacingly.
"I would not expect anything less sir.." Scorpius said.

"We have a meeting don't we?" Ron asked Harry as he left the kitchen and entered Harry's office.
"I'll deal with James after.." Harry said to Ginny and she nodded.
"Well that didn't go that bad.." Rose said nervously.
"Rose, honey, why don't you go downstairs.." Ginny said giving Rose a small look telling her to go with Scorpius. She said heard his little speech to Ron and knew that Rose should with him.
"Thank you Aunt Ginny" Rose said giving her a sheepish smile.
Rose went down to Scorpius and took his hands and guided him somewhere more private. "You alright..?" Rose asked softy
"Yeah I'm fine..." He said giving her a small sheepish smile
"You know..." Rose said after a moment of silence as they sat down. "I love you too" rose said softly
"What...?" Scorpius asked looking at her, wondering if he heard her right
"That I... Love you too" Rose said looking at him, her voice stronger as she leaned in and kissed him softly
Scorpius gently raised his hand and caressed the side of her face and kissed her back.
After the kiss broke they gently put their foreheads together and Rose sighed softly.
"You are so beautiful.." Scorpius said softly looking into her eyes.
"You're so handsome" She said back caressing his face softly on the side he was not hit
"I know.." He said teasingly, "and the black eye makes me look tougher i think."
"Hmm nope" she teased. "It would be if you had bloody knuckles with it or something"
"Damn..." He said giving a mock sigh.
"Don't worry, we can always make up a cool story for it" she chuckled.
"Yeah instead of beaten up for kissing my girlfriend, by her slightly, if insanely over protective cousin..." He understood if James would be pissed at him, it was common knowledge that before Rose, Scorp for a bit of a player, so he got it.
But did he really have to punch him?
"Yeah.." She said softly and moved his hair out of his face where James had hit him. "I'm so pissed off at him" she said no more joke on her voice
"Don't kill him ok?" He asked looking at her
"Why not?" She said crossing her arms over her chest
"Because, and call me selfish when i say this, but I'd rather have a girlfriend in Azkaban.. Kind of kills the mood you know?
That cracked a smile on her. "Alright fine you have a point" she said kissing his cheek softly. "I'll won't do anything that'll get me in Azkaban"
"Thank you." He said giving her a small smile.
"What are you going to tell your dad?" She asked softly after a moment. "Are you... Going to tell him today or is it too much for a day?" She said giving him a small smile
Scorpius was quiet for a moment, "I might as well. Throw it all into one day you know?" He said and gave a small smile, "I'll probably do it when i get home."
Rose gave him a small nervous smile. "Well... You write to me and tell me how it goes" she said softly.
He placed a soft kiss on her lips, "I will."

A few hours later it was time for Scorpius to go back home. Ginny and Harry insisted in going with him after he told them he was telling his father the truth.
"Hi Draco" Harry said as the man opened the door to greet them, confusion on his features as he looked between harry, Ginny and Scorpius who was not really looking at him and had a black eye.
"What happened?" He asked taking Scorpius' chin and looking at the hit more closely.
"James and Scorpius got into a bit of a tussle..." Ginny said, "And we wanted to make sure that Scorpius got home ok and so we could apologize..."
Draco nodded.
"We've taken care of James but... Well we're sorry" Harry said.
"What did they fight about?" Draco asked looking at them and then at Scorpius.
"That I think we'll leave to Scorpius..." Ginny said giving the boy a small smile.
Draco eyed his son curiously, "Do you want some coffee or some tea? Astoria and I were about to have some"
Harry shook his head, "No thank you. We should get back to the boys and Lily." He gave Draco a small polite smile
"Thank you very much though Draco." Ginny responded before the bid a goodbye to Scorpius and left allowing Scorpius to go inside.
Draco closed the door behind him and looked at his son. "What happened?" He asked to Scorpius, knowing Astoria would have a heart attack when she saw Scorpius
Scorpius was quiet for a moment before saying, "James came outside and saw... well..." He wasn't quite sure how to say it, so he just took a breath and said, "He said me kissing his cousin... Rose... and he wasn't too happy about it..."
Draco had to take a moment before speaking. "Rose Weasley..?" He asked to make sure, though he didn't think the potters had other cousins named Rose
Scorpius hesitated before nodding slowly.
"Are you two...were you just kissing..? Are you seeing her?" Draco didn't know how to put it, or how to address what was happening.
"She's my girlfriend..." He said softly, "I've been dating her since the beginning of second term..."
Draco's eyebrows went up. "I... Didn't know you liked Weasley's girl"
"I do sir..." Scorpius said, "Very much so..."
Draco nodded thoughtful, not too happy about it. "Well it's alright son" he said after a moment. "If she makes you happy... Just.. Be more careful around her cousins" he said
"Of course sir.." Scorpius said, "And dad... I think you and mom would like to read this.." He said handed his father the piece of parchment
"What is this?" He asked taking the parchment and began to read it.
"Scorpius! When did you get this?!" Draco asked as he finished reading and pulled his son into a hug
"This morning... Right before I left for the Potters... You and mom had been out." He said a smile on his face
"I can't believe this! I am so proud of you" He said a wide grin on his face.
"I'm just relieved." Scorpius said running a hand through his hair, happy with his father's reaction
" I told you you didn't need to worry Scorpius, I knew you'd get in the program" he said
"Thanks dad." He said a small grin on his face
"Now go on, go tell your mother" Draco said. "Just this morning she was saying she was worried about you not getting a response yet"
"I will.." He said taking the parchment back and went to find his mother in the living room
"Oh hey hone- Scorpius, what happened to you?" Astoria said standing up from her chair and going over to her son with a deeply concerned face. In the midst of the excitement Draco had practically forgotten about the Rose Weasley thing and the rather deep bruise his son was getting on his cheek
"It's nothing mom..." Scorpius said himself also forgetting about his black eye, "I wanted you to see this though..."
"How is this nothing?" she said trying to get a better look.
"Just read the parchment Astoria" Draco said with a grin.
Astoria gave a sigh and read the paper, "Oh sweetheart this is wonderful, congratulations." she said momentarily forgetting about the black eye and hugging her son
"Thank you mom" Scorpius said grinning as he hugged her back.
"Now.." She said sitting him down, "Tell me how you got this black eye." She placed her hand on the side of his face and Scorpius winces sightly when she touched it, though the throbbing had stopped, "James and I got into a fight.." He said wishing she wouldn't have brought it up
"James and you? You never fight with the Potter boys.." She said looking into his eyes.,
"Well... He kind of saw something that made him angry..." Scorpius said avoiding his mother's eyes slightly, though he wasn't too thrilled, but he just felt worse for some reason keeping things from his mother.
"What exactly..?" She said looking at Draco for a moment trying to look for answers. Draco only signaled to Scorpius since he was the one who had to tell her.
"He found me kissing Rose Weasley..." He admitted softly
"He found you- Scorpius Malfoy I have not taught you this way, going around kissing girls-" She was saying when Draco interrupted her.
"They're /together/, James only found out today in a very inconvenient way... as we did too" Draco said, his arms crossed over his chest, his expression not giving much away.
"You're dating Rose Weasley and you hadn't told us?" Astoria said, hurt flashing through her eyes.
"Rose and I didn't tell anyone..." He said softly not looking at his parents, "Only because we know about relationship between the Weasley's and the Malfoy's..."
"Well when were you planning on telling us?" Astoria said understanding where her son was coming from but not at all happy. "Scorpius we are not all that thrilled about our son having Ron Weasley as a father-in-law but that doesn't mean we're going to eat you alive or something. I mean I do want to know who my son is going around with"
"Right... I'm sorry..." He said giving a small sigh, "I should have told you guys..."
"Yes you very much should have... Now, did you hit the Potter boy back?" she asked after a moment. "Did he hurt you anywhere else?"
"No i tried to explain but he wouldn't listen and i didn't hit him back... though i guess i kind of deserved it. I mean Rose is like a little sister to James..."
"You didn't deserve it son... unless you're using her in some way..?" Draco said giving his son a look.
"No i'm not dad... I really do like her" Scorpius said looking away from his dad.
"I wish you'd had... I mean you did the right thing not hitting him back but he hurt you pretty bad.." Astoria said touching his cheek softly. "But I'm proud that you were the better man."
Scorpius gave a small smile and said, "Yeah... I've never seen Mrs. Potter that mad before..."
"I've told Ginny that boy needs more control" Astoria said shaking her head.
"Let's not get into that darling, it's not our business" Draco said interrupting his wife.
She gave him a look but didn't say anything more of the subject. "So when are we meeting this girl, she's never been here has she?" Astoria asked, her attention on Scorpius.
"No... Just Al and James... and whenever you want I guess..." He said giving a small shrug
"Oh I know she can come this Friday and meet your grandfather too" Astoria said and Draco shook his head.
"We shouldn't make the girl go through that yet, you know how my father is darling." Draco said.
"You're right, you're right..." Astoria nodded. "Well why don't you ask her when she can come for tea and we can meet her more casually..?" she asked Scorpius.
" Yeah that would be good..." he said a small smile on his face and went to go write to Rose just moments later.
