Ron Weasley refused to let Rose see Scorpius as much as she wanted to until he made sure Scorpius was good for her little girl, and that's how only a week after Rose met Scorpius' parents, she waited for him as he went to meet hers officially. Rose was pacing the kitchen anxiously as her mother cooked.
"Relax, I'll make sure to keep your father uncontrol." Hermione said giving her daughter a warm smile.
Rose only gave her a small tight smile and almost had a heart attack as the bell rang.
"I'll get it" She mumbled as she hurried to the door.
As she opened it the wind moved her hair a little on her face so she greeted Scorpius trying to fix it again.
"Hey" she said a bit breathless as she smiled brightly.
"Hey.." Scorpius said giving a small chuckle and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear to help her, "How are you?"
Scorpius was dressed in jeans and a nice-ish shirt, looking casual not sure how to dress really. He may not have looked it but he was pretty nervous.
"Good" She said quickly and bit her lip before giving him a quick peck on the lips, knowing her parents couldn't see them. "You?"
"Alright." He said giving her a small smile.
"Don't be nervous" She whispered softly taking his hand and guiding him inside. "It'll be perfect you'll see."
"I hope so..." He said softly as she closed the door behind them.
"I know so" She said caressing his hand softly with her thumb giving him a small reassuring smile.
"Mom, Scorpius is here!" Rose said entering the kitchen.
"Oh hello Scorpius." Hermione said wiping her hands and going over to greet him. "Dinner is almost ready."
"Thank you Mrs. Weasley." Scorpius said giving a small nod, "It smells wonderful."
"Thank you" she said smiling at him. "Ronald is upstairs working, he'll be down when we sit on the table" she said gently. "How's your mother? I heard she caught the flu."
"She is still a bit under the weather, but is feeling much better..." He said giving a small smile.
"I'm glad" Hermione said as she magically moved things around the kitchen.
Soon after the food was ready and they helped Hermione put things on the table. Scorpius was carrying a salad over when Ron's footsteps reached the dining room. Rose's stomach was on a knot. "Hey dad" she said giving him a smile, trying to hide her nervousness.
"Hi honey." Ron said giving his daughter a small smile, but did not acknowledge Scorpius, but it wasn't too much longer after he placed the salud bowl down did he turned to Rose's father, "Good evening sir..."
"Good evening" Ron answered giving him a small nod.
"So Scorpius, Rose told me you got into the Mason Healers program." Hermione said as she served herself some food. "Congratulations!"
"Thank you Mrs. Weasley.." He said and couldn't help his smile.
"When do you start?" She asked kindly, giving Ron a small glance, he was awfully quiet.
"Middle of September..." Scorpius said, "Around the same time as Rose..."
He wasn't sure how to take her father's silence.
"Your parents must be very proud" Ron said speaking for the first time.
Scorpius looked at him, "They are..."
He was not sure how to talk to him and not make him mad.
Rose grabbed Scorpius' hand over the table giving him a small smile. "His mother got him a new broom for it" Rose said with a small chuckle.
"Yeah I don't know in what time I'll use it once I start class" Scorpius laughed softly.
Hermione gave a small laugh, "Well I'm sure the Potter's will allow you plenty of time to use it.."
"Yeah, Albus, Rose and I have been giving it good use." Scorpius said with a smile.
"Well that's good." HermIone said smiling at him, "Don't you think Ron?" They were talking about flying and quidditch and he was as silent as ever
"Absolutely..." He responded.
They went on talking about new quiditch moves and strategies lightly, Ron keeping a half-frowning face and Hermione giving him some glanced. She was not much of a fan of quiditch but if something was going to make him talk, that was it.
And she was right.
"It must be a fine broom for you to manage to do those closed loops..." Ron said cracking and looking at Scorpius. "What did you get? A Star-crossed?"
"Yes sir." He said nodding, "Though I was content with my old Commit 360, you wouldn't believe how smooth it flies...'
Ron cracked a small smile. "Yeah the old comet... It might not be fancy but it sure does the trick... I'm surprised you even know of their existence."
"Its one of my favorites if you ask me.." He said. In his spare time he would sometimes still ride it.
"It is..?" Ron said surprised. "Well finally someone that really knows about brooms" He said before he could catch himself.
Rose looked at her mother, a bright smile on her face. She'd been worried but now everything seemed like it would work out.
"My team mates thought i was crazy in about 4th year when i came to school with it, but they soon realized they were wrong."
"People don't understand that it's one of the best brooms ever made." Ron said rolling his eyes. "The balance is perfect, it's short so it's perfect for close turns and honestly the speed problem it has is easily fixed if you know how to fly properly and use gravity in your favor."
"I could not have said it better myself." Scorpius said with a smile.
…..
After dinner Rose went to show Scorpius the backyard and her favorite spot there. They had an outdoor couch and a couple of armchairs to match; they were the perfect place to spot stars on.
"I think dinner was a success" Rose said smiling brightly as she rested her head on his shoulder after they sat there. She brought her knees up to her chest, curling into a ball beside him.
"I do too." He said giving her a small smile, "Thank Merlin for Quidditch." He chuckled.
"Yeah" she chuckled as he put an arm around her legs. They stayed a little while in silence. "I like stars... I don't know how anyone ever did something as horrible as astronomy with them." she said softly after a while.
"Astronomy is actually pretty interesting..." He said softly and looked down at her, "Just not at Hogwarts.." He joked slightly
"Is it?" She said looking at him with a small smile.
"It is..." He said smiling at her, "Look..." He pointed up at the sky, "See... up there is Jupiter... I know it looks like a star but sometimes you could see planets..." He also pointed out some other constellations.
"And which one is Scorpius?" She asked looking up.
"Ron..." Hermione called her husband as she looked at her daughter from a window on the kitchen.
"What?" Ron asked coming over to her.
"That one right there.." Scorpius said pointing up and to the right.
"I wish my name was on a star..." Rose said softly.
"I'm glad they are together..." Hermione said over in the kitchen, "He's a good boy don't you think?"
Ron was quiet for a little while, "He's tolerable..." He answered.
"Well you are my star.." Scorpius said and placed a kiss in the top on her head.
Rose smiled brightly. "And you are mine" She said caressing the side of his face lovingly.
"Oh come on Ronald don't be like that" She said putting her arms around his neck. "He's a million times better than that Louis boy she was dating before, he's polite, he's studying to be a healer, was on top of his class right there with Rosie... What else do you want?"
'And he knows his stuff about Quidditch' Ron also thought but kept to himself, "I don't know 'Mione... There is just something about it. He's too different from his father... It's odd... You heard Rosie the other day, he's apparently into muggle gadgets too. I just don't get it."
"Well maybe Draco changed too... Maybe he wanted to raise his son to be better than he was. You remember when they were little, how Scorpius and Albus got into trouble all the time. Scorpius even hit a boy who called a little girl "mudblood"…. Remember?" She gave him a small smile. "They have changed... I think we all need to move on now" She said softly.
Ron was quiet once more, "Maybe..."
"We do." She said kissing him softly.
Ron kissed her back, "I'll consider it.."
"Alright..." She said giving him a small smile. "Now come on let's give them privacy." Hermione chuckled, looking one last time towards her daughter.
Ron nodded a bit reluctantly and followed Hermione out of the room.
"I love you.." Scorpius said softly and kissed Rose gently on the lips.
"And I love you..." Rose said deepening the kiss just slightly
….
After that dinner Ron started getting warmer with Scorpius, they spent a lot of time talking about quiditch and music, the topics in which they had more things in common.
