Sorry for the long break everyone! I've had a lot going on and have been very busy. However, I'll try not to disappear for this long again. Also, in response to my long absence, here is a nice long chapter!

Enjoy!

...

They were alright for the next couple of weeks.

Scorpius managed not to forget their dates again and if he needed to cancel he always called Rose ahead and had a good reason to do so. One of those days he called her in the morning, he'd woken up very much sick and with a killer headache and so he told her he couldn't see her that afternoon and insisted on her not coming over to his house; not wanting to make her sick too.

Albus also decided to abandon the flat for the day so that he could not catch whatever disease Scorpius had. However, much to Scorpius' s displeasure there was a knock on the door. He went to get it and there were his friends, standing there, "Hey Scorp." The one said.

"Thought you could blow us off did ya?" Said the other.

"Guys I'm really not feeling to great can you go bug another flat?"

"Nope" One of them said placing a box of beers on the side of Scorpius' couch before flopping onto it. "You my friend have the biggest TV so we're watching the game here" He said turning it on.

"It'll be good for you, you'll feel bad anyway so you should at least make the best of it" The other said joining the first one on the couch.

"Guys you need to leave. Now." Scorpius said annoyed with them and his head still pounding as there was another knock on the door not too much later.

"Who could it-" He said as he was opening the door after failing to get the guys out, leaving him annoyed.

"Hey..." Rose said her eyebrows furrowing as she heard sounds from the living room. "I brought you soup..."

"Thank you.." He said running a hand through his hair holding back a small cough not wanting to get her sick.

"Who is it?!" Rose heard a guy's voice call from the living room.

"Are your friends over?" She asked accusingly as she stepped into his flat.

Scorpius sighed, "I have been trying to get them to leave for the last twenty minutes." He answer as one of his friends looked up.

"Hiya Rose. Come to watch the game?" One asked.

Rose studied for a moment, Scorpius' tired face, her arms crossed over her chest.

"No, the game is not even really important anyway" she said dryly to one of Scorpius' friends.

"Oh.. Okay" The guy just said uncomfortable not sure what to say to her.

"And how long have they been here?" Rose asked Scorpius in a low voice.

"Twenty minutes." He answered the same amount of time he had been trying to get them to leave.

Rose's expression softened. "You don't look so good" she said gently.

He have a small shrug, he didn't feel too good either, but there was nothing too much that he could do about that.

She studied him for a moment more. "Do you want me to kick them out..?" She asked softly, though her arms were still crossed over her chest.

"Please." He said. He knew they wouldn't listen to him, but Rose had a way or making people listen.

She sighed softly before going over to his friends. "Alright guys party's over, Scorpius needs to rest." She said standing in front of the TV.

"We aren't doing anything.." The one said trying to see around Rose.

Her eyebrows furrowed. "I said get out, now" She said threateningly.

"Come on mate..." The one said having faced this side of Rose before and not wanting to go back there again.

Finally, not too much longer the guys were gone and allowed Scorpius some peace.

Rose went over to Scorpius after the guys were gone. "Come here" she said checking his temperature with her hand. "I think you might have a fever, have you taken anything?"

Scorpius gave a small nodded, "I look sometime for the headache earlier but that was it..."

"I see.." She said softly and accioed the thermometer and some fever potion before guiding him to his room. "Come on love… Lets get you in your bed" she said softly and put the thermometer in his mouth before putting the covers softly over him.

Scorpius had a low fever, so Rose gave him some of the potion for it and told him to get some rest. He was able to fall asleep not much later when the potion finally kicked in.

Rose laid down on the bed with him, running her fingers softly through his hair as she thought about the things that had been running through her head lately. She looked down at him, she loved him, but she felt their relationship was getting worse slowly. They fought a lot more lately, and even though they both tried, they saw each other too little of the time.

She sighed softly and tried to distract herself watching TV but it was useless.

...

Scorpius woke up a few hours later feeling better than he had been and took it as a sign of progress. After laying there a moment he decided to get up to see if Rose was still there. Which to his slight surprise, she was.

"You feeling better?" She asked with a small smile.

"Yeah... A little thanks..." He said returning the small smile.

"Why don't you go have a shower and I'll warm some soup for you?" She said putting his hair out of his forehead.

Scorpius gave a small nodded and went to take a quick shower and Rose working in the soup when he came out clean and dressed, "I really appreciate it." Scorpius said softly to her.

Rose smiled softly. "It's nothing love" she said and gave him a small kiss on the cheek before handing him a small bowl of soup.

He gave a small smile and sat at the counter, "So what did you to yesterday...?" He asked softly after a few moments of silence.

"Just... You know went out with the guys to Zands Club..." She said avoiding his eyes for a moment.

"Was Jake there...?" He asked looking up at her.

She hesitated a moment. "Yeah.."

"How was he…?" Scorpius asked after a moment, it was known how Scorpius felt about him.

"I don't know, same as always" she shrugged as she went over to get a glass of water.

'Exactly' Scorpius thought to himself as he watched her.

Rose turned around to find him looking at her. "Scorpius... i've told you, he's just my friend" She said rolling her eyes.

"I still don't trust him..." He said looking at his soup.

"Well it's not him you have to trust, it's me" she said with a sigh. "Do you really think even if he actually tried something with me I would cheat on you?" She said crossing her arms lightly over her chest.

"No." He said looking at her.

She looked at him for a moment. "Good" she said softly.

There was a silence that settled around them, for Scorpius didn't know what to say next

"Don't stress about it love..." She said after taking a small breath.

"I'm not..." He said softly.

"Right..." She said knowing how he got whenever she went out and Jake was there.

"I'm not..." He said again, but then silence come over them once more as he finished his soup.

Rose busied herself with the dishes, feeling a weight on her chest. This was their usual conversation about Jake since they'd had a huge fight about it.

"If you want to stay the night..." Scorpius said softly as he went to clean his dish, "You can stay in Al's room... He's staying with a friend for tonight..." He would have her sleep with him, but did not want her to catch what he had and his room was infested with it.

Rose gave him a small smile she hoped didn't look forced. "Alright" she said softly and placed a small kiss on his shoulder. "Do you want to watch TV or a movie?" She asked looking up at him.

"We could watch a movie..." He said giving a small shrug and put the clean dishes away

"Alright" she said softly as laid down on the couch with him to watch a movie. They were silent as they watched it and Rose ran her fingers softly through his hair, having a hard time paying attention to the movie.

….

"Maybe we should call it a night" she said softly after the movie ended. "I'm tired"

"Ok love.." He said and placed a kiss on the top of her head.

She kissed his cheek. "Can I borrow something to sleep in?" She asked.

"Of course" He gave her a small smile which Rose returned before going to his room and changing quickly before going over to Albus' and laying down on his bed curling herself up in a ball around the pillow.

"Night love..." Scorpius said closing the door to Al's room before going to his own.

Rose barely slept that night.

Next morning Scorpius woke up to find Rose curled up on the couch a cup or tea in her hands. She looked up at him and gave him a small smile that was definitely forced.

"Hey what's wrong...?" He asked softly going over to her.

Her smile fell and she hesitated before answering. "I... We need to talk Scorp" she said, her tone very soft as she looked down to her tea.

Scorpius felt a rather large knot form in his stomach, "Ok..." He said his voice soft, managing to get that out as he sat down next to her.

"I've been thinking a lot..." She said, feeling like she had a huge thing pressing down on her chest. "What are we doing Scorp?... We don't... We don't trust each other like we used to... We fight all the time..." She said softly, finding it a lot harder than she thought to finally say what she needed to say.

"What are you saying...?" He asked looking at her, he really hoped that she wasn't going where he thought she was going with this.

Rose took one deep breath before looking up at him. "I think we should take a break..." She said really softly.

"Rose... Please..." He said looking at her

"Scorpius..." She said swallowing hard, trying to somehow ease the lump on her throat. "We'll just keep fighting more and more... I... " She took a deep breath. "I don't want us to break up with a horrible fight...hating each other..."

"I could never hate you..." He said taking her hand in his, "No matter what..."

"You don't know that..." She whispered softly.

"Yes I do..." He said meeting her eyes.

Rose shook his head softly. "I'm tired of fighting... Of expecting you to forget our dates... Of half-feeling you... You'd like to do something else sometimes... Of feeling like I have to hide Jake was there when I go out" She said looking away from his eyes.

"Rose..." He said softly, but knew deep down that she was right.

"What...?" She said looking up and meeting his eyes.

"I love you so much..." He said trying to find the right words, "but if this is what you want... then... Ok."

"I love so much too but I..." She sighed and lifted his hand, taking it in both of hers and placing a kiss on the back of it. "I need time to think" she said looking up at him.

"Ok..." Scorpius said softly

Rose bit her lip. "I'm sorry" she whispered softly and hugged him tightly, burying her face on his neck.

Scorpius didn't say anything, he just hugged her back tightly, holding her close.

It was one long moment before Rose let go of him, wondering if she was making the right decision. "I better go home..." She whispered softly. She'd already changed back to her clothes.

"Ok..." He said standing up with her, "I'll see you around I guess..." He said softly and watched her as she left. When she was gone Scorpius almost punched the wall. He screwed up so much and now she's gone.

Rose felt broken when she went home but she'd given it too much thought to really regret what she'd done. She knew it was probably the best for both of them.

…..

A few months later Rose found herself on a bar after a game she went to with her friends. She went out more often now, mostly because she didn't feel like being home and thinking about Scorpius. She was sure she'd made the right choice but she still missed him too much, he was not only her boyfriend but her best friend and trying to get over him was hard on her.

She'd had some to drink so she wasn't too reluctant to go dance with a guy she'd been talking to for a while. He was actually nice and cute, they danced and although he was maybe too touchy she didn't mind too much. At some point during the song he pulled her close to him and she had only a few moments to react before his lips were on hers. She thought for a moment about pushing him away but rather moved her hands to his neck. He was an okay kisser and didn't people say you could forget someone with someone new?

Scorpius had come with the guys to their favorite bar, the last few weeks they had been able to drag him around with them. They were having a good time until Scorpius saw one of his friends looking at something and when he followed his eyes he saw what he was looking at.

Rose.

Snogging some random guy on the dance floor. He didn't even notice that he dropped his glass until he heard the crash on the floor. Not that he even cared, he just left and and started out of the bar.

Rose heard the glass shatter and immediately froze as she heard a male voice call Scorpius' name. She pulled away from the guy who asked her what was wrong.

"I need to go" She said quickly and rushed out.

"Scorpius!" She called once she saw him outside hitting a wall with his fist. Guilt was eating at her. "I'm sorry" she said as he turned to her startled.

"You don't need to be sorry.." He said looking at her after a moment, his face emotionless, "You said you needed time, and I guess you made up your mind. We're done then."

His words stung, or rather his hurt expression stung. It was not supposed to be like this, he was not supposed to be more hurt than necessary. "I really am sorry" She said softly putting her arms around herself, not even sure what she was expecting to get out of this. "I... He means nothing, he's just a guy..." She felt every word she said just sunk them both further.

"You made up your mind Rose..." He said softly, "and you know what? I'm sorry too."

Rose felt tears on the back of her eyes. She felt horrible, seeing him there with that pained look on his face. "I... I'm gonna.. Leave now" she said softly looking down.

Scorpius was quiet as he watched her go back inside before he continued home; deciding to walk knowing that in his state if he were to apperate, he would splitch himself.

Scorpius was numb, he could not even feel the siring pain coming from the hand that hit the wall.
