Link whipped his head around, trying to find the source of the voice even though he was certain it was inside his head. There was no one else who could imitate that Twili accent so perfectly. Was he going mad now? Did he miss Midna so much that he was hearing her voice now, as clear as day? He managed to walk to the back entrance again, deciding that he would just start sleeping there from now on. He collapsed onto the ground, thoroughly exhausted, both mentally and physically. He sat back on his knees watching as the sun dipped beneath the horizon, washing the landscape in twilight. And just as the sun fell from view, he heard it again.

"Don't you just love the twilight? Isn't it beautiful?"

Link snapped his head back and forth, looking but of course never finding. His face fell into his hands. It was heartbreaking, to hear her voice.

"What's the matter Mr. Hero?"

The Midna voice clipped. Link slashed out with his sword, swinging it blindly.

"Watch it!" Midna screeched. "Is that anyway to greet your friend!"

Link looked up, for this time the voice wasn't in his head, but directly in front of him. He gasped and jumped to his feet.

It was her. It was really her. She was in her humanoid form of course, wearing the same robes as when he last saw her. "Link." She said, and smiled at him. "I don't have a lot of time, but I need you Link. I need you to go to the Guardians of Light." She ordered. "Ask them about the orb, the one-" She was suddenly cut off and completely disappeared. Link looked around for her, but she was lost to him. The place where she once stood was just empty ground. No footprints, and in the sky there wasn't any evidence of a portal either. Link looked around, but it was as if she had vanished into thin air. Time had passed. It was night now, the stars danced in the sky, and Link was left wondering if he had truly lost his mind.

He made his way to the castle, vaguely aware of what the hour was. The guards at the front gates had fallen asleep. Link sighed and opened the heavy wooden door. He slipped in and shut the door silently. He crept through the courtyard and the corridors until he found his way to Princess Zelda's room. He took a deep breath, and knocked.

There was a moment of shuffling before the door opened and an almost frightened looking Zelda in a white nightgown stood in the doorway. "Link?" She asked, blinking sleep away blearily. "What-" Link shook his head firmly and gently pushed her into the room and shut the door behind him. He quickly told her what he had seen. She listened quietly without interrupting until he had finished.

"Link…" She said carefully, "It is rather late, perhaps it was only a dream…" Link shook his head, a fierce look on his face. She sighed. "What does she mean by an orb?"

Link shrugged. But he knew he had to at least check it out. He needed to find out if he was going crazy or not. So he told Zelda that he had decided to officially leave his post as commander. If he was right about this vision or whatever it was, then he would have to help Midna with this orb, and if he wasn't then he needed to check out his mental state.

Zelda looked at her hands, her eyes closed in exasperation. "Link…do you understand how hard it will be to replace you?" She said.

He didn't answer at first. All he could say was that Midna needed him. "But I need you too!" she cried. "Why is it that you are willing to drop everything just to rush after her? It might not even be her Link!" Zelda looked at him, her eyes hiding something. "You a lot of responsibilities here! Not just the soldiers, but what about that boy from your hometown? He came here to be trained as soldiers, without a commander he will have to go back home won't he?" Link looked away as he guilty thought about Colin. He took a deep breath. Midna needed his help. And if it was a mental hoax, then he wouldn't be much help to Colin as a mentor if he kept having these visions.

He nodded. He was making the right choice. He looked at Zelda, determined. She stared at him, her brow furrowed. "I'm not going to change your mind am I?" She smiled a little. "I know I'm not." She sighed, and ran her hand through her hair. "Go Link." She said tiredly.
