Okay these last two are together because I came up with this idea on the last day of summer.

And I totally was watching the episodes while writing these. I'm a sucker for nostalgia.

The End Part One

Puzzle

"If you accept, place the Millennium Items in the Stone."

Yugi nodded at Ishizu and walked up the dilapidated stairs, pausing to place the duffle bag on the ground. Indeed, the Millennium Stone was an impressive and beautiful carving. The ornate details and craftsmanship, though carved with shadows, was impressive. He could've stared and marveled at it all day.

Instead, he unzipped the bag and searched for the Eye, dropping it into the pocket at the top of the Stone. Next, he slid the Key into its place, followed by the Scales. He stopped and looked into the bag this time, smiling faintly at the remaining Items. He thought of Malik as he placed the Millennium Rod into the Stone's hands. Ishizu came to mind as he put the Necklace at the top of the carving. A small weight lifted off his chest when he dropped the Ring into its spot, Yugi knowing Ryou felt the same relief he did. Then there was one Item left.

Gingerly, he lifted the metal chain from his neck, unclipping the Puzzle. He flipped it around; the Eye of Horus faintly glowed in the low light. Three years ago he had no idea of the journey he would go on just by finishing the Puzzle. All he wanted was a sense of accomplishment by completing it and the chance of his wish being granted. He got that and so much more.

And it was in that brief moment when Yugi placed the Puzzle into the Stone that the world went black and the room lit up. The eyes on the Items glowed and the Eye on the wall shined bright as the sun as it gazed into Yugi's soul. He felt a dark power stirring and rising from that golden glowing Eye that just seemed to watch, watch as the world turned black and the room lit up. There was a tugging at Yugi's gut, a stripping, a pulling. Shadows erupted from the Eye wrapping around him, felling him, ripping him. They cover him, dark and cold, black filling his nose, eyes, ears, and lungs. He was choking, suffocating, dying…

Then it stopped. The world lit up and the room went black. The glow faded. There was a gasp from the crowd, but Yugi didn't hear it. He was aware of a familiar presence next to him, but he turned, walking toward his end for the duel. He paused, sucking in air and calming his heart before turning around.

At the other end of the room, Pharaoh Atem stood proud and regal, a calm but determined look on his face. Then his faced softened, he smiled, and said, "Hello."

DO YOU GET IT?

It's homage to the first theme of this challenge. I'm a huge fan of full circle endings, so I just had to do it. (Even if this isn't the very last one.)
