Killian
After a while, we returned back to the ship. Since it's hardly past nine, Henry refused to go to bed. But Emma urged him to do so.
"Mom, I'm not tired." He complained.
Emma shook her head. "I don't care, Henry. Go to sleep. You have to wake up at dawn tomorrow morning. I don't want you to be a minute late for school again, you understand?"
He looked at me desperately. I went to her side and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "How about a movie?"
Henry nodded excitedly. "Yes!"
Emma gave me a disappointed look. "Killian, please this boy had enough fun for one day."
"Oh, come now. Let the boy do anything he wishes till the end of the day. As you can see he has precisely three in half hours till midnight. So why won't you cut the kid some slack and let him watch a movie?"
"No. I said no."
I chuckled. "Lord you are so stubborn." I dropped my arm and rushed over to Henry. I scooped him up in my arms and ran to my room. Emma followed us from behind. I threw Henry playfully on the bed and walked over to the television that hung in the middle of the room. I slid open the glass drawer that opened vertically where I collected all my movies.
"What do you want to watch, mate?"
"What do you got?"
Emma marched inside with her arms crossed on her chest. "Henry, why won't you listen to me?"
I picked "Angus" and quickly removed the DVD from its case and put it in the DVD player. As the DVD started with the trailers I turned around and went over to her.
"Why won't you listen to me, Emma? If you haven't noticed, I am also an adult and I say Henry gets to go to sleep after this movie."
Henry cheered. "Yeah! I'm in with Killian!"
I placed my hands on her back and pushed her to the bed. "You heard the little guy, go."
When she sat down on the bed, she simply nodded. "Fine. But don't blame me tomorrow morning, young man."
Henry gave her a nod. "Yes, ma'am."
The three of us cuddled under the sheets and pressed our backs against the wall with over five pillows. I loved it when Henry laughed at some of the scenes of the movie. Emma joined in when the scene changed to Angus' underwear hanging up in the flag pole outside of school. I wrapped an arm around Henry's shoulder and he leaned his cheek against my chest.
As the movie continued, I left my eyes from the screen and looked at Emma and Henry. Henry was still smiling but Emma was crying a few drops of tears. I looked back at the movie again. This scene is when Angus' grandfather passed away and his young bride to be stopped by and gave Angus his grandfather's watch to remind Angus that she remembered that it was time for his medication. I looked back at Emma and touched her shoulder.
She turned her head to me and quickly wiped her eyes. I rubbed her shoulder gently and reached for her face to wipe those tears away.
"Hey, it's just a movie."
"A heartwarming one. You made a good choice."
"You know me, beautiful. Now dry those eyes."
She nodded and looked down on the sheets. I'm a little confused why she is so upset after seeing that scene. I mean, I get it is sad, but why is she taking it so hard.
When the final scene started when Angus finally arrived to the prom with a ridiculous plum tuxedo, I looked down at Henry, he's sound asleep. I stroked his hair with my fingers and smoothed each lock to the side. I tapped Emma on the shoulder.
She smiled. "Finally. I thought he'll never fall asleep."
"Watching a movie in the middle of the night always does the trick."
"I should put him to bed now."
I shook my head. "No. I'll take him to bed." I carefully lifted his head off me as I crawled my way down to my feet. Then I lowered his head down on the bed and lifted him up in my arms. He leaned his cheek on my shoulder as I head out the door. Emma followed me from behind. She opened the room to his room. Both of us walked in.
Emma moved the sheets to the side before I lowered him down. I grabbed the sheets with both hands and wrapped it on top of him. As I took a step back, she properly tucked the blanket in and gave him a quick good night kiss on his forehead. The two of us tip toed out of the room and shut the door quietly.
Emma crossed her arms and stood there awkwardly."Well, I guess I should go to bed too."
"Are you tired?"
"Well, not really...To be quite honest, it feels weird sleeping so early."
I took her hands. "I hope you get used to it. Because that's exactly how things are going to be for now on."
"Killian, what do you mean?"
"Emma when we go back to New York, I'm not going to take you back to your apartment. I'm going to take you to our place."
She took a step back looking stunned. "What are you talking about? What do you mean our apartment? Oh gosh, what did you do, Killian?"
"I did what anyone should have done...Okay maybe not what anyone would have done. But take me as your handsome and single fairy godfather."
"Killian."
"I moved out of my place and also leased you out of the crummy apartment too. I prepared all this quietly as possible which is why I took both you and Henry on this trip...I got us a house. It's just beautiful, its near New York so don't worry you're not far away from home."
She yanked her hands off me. "How could you do this?!"
I placed a finger on my lips quickly. "Shhh... Henry is asleep, remember?"
She took a breath and whispered harshly. "How could you do this without discussing any of this with me?"
"Because I'm doing what's best for you. I cannot bear the thought of you returning back to your old life style...I'm scared of losing you again. I don't want to be at work or at my apartment worrying my heart out if you suddenly fainted again, or hurting again. I can't allow any of that to happen, I just can't."
Her anger disappeared and she looked at me touched but speechless. "Killian."
I placed my hands on her shoulders. As much as I wanted to fight it, I could no longer hold these tears anymore. A few drops of tears fell down on my cheeks. "You have no idea how much I want to keep you safe...I was hurt from what you said in the hospital. But I was touched by how much you wanted to protect me from entering your problems that you even risked getting me hurt without attempting it. Emma, I want you to move into the house. I prepared separate bedrooms. I'm sure the last thing you would want is for Henry to be confused what's happening between you and me."
"Killian, I...I don't know what to say."
I brushed the tears away with my sleeve. "Just say yes. I promise things will get much better. There won't be a single problem. And even if it does, we'll go through it together."
"But Killain, you're forgetting something."
"And what is that?"
She shrugged my hands off her shoulders. And she started to turn around and pace around in the living room. "Killian, we hardly know each other. Have you realized that? I mean, yes we always somehow get along so well when we meet...in a way, and we end up enjoying to meet each other again. But, there is nothing we know about each other. A favorite color, our likes and dislikes, our family, our other secret we kept from each other...I could just go on forever."
"We'll get to know each other little by little."
She shook her head. "I don't know, Kilian. This is a really big decision to make. I'm not sure if I'm ready to move in with you..."
I rushed over to her. "Emma, I know this is hard. But you need to think about Henry, please Emma think about how happy he'll be."
"Yes I know that."
"I promise I'll take things slow and if you still don't feel anything for me in the end, I promise I'll let you go but still help you along every step of the way. I swear."
"Killian. You don't know what you're saying. I don't want to be a burden to you."
I shook my head. "No. You will never be my burden or even Henry. Once you take your first step in our home, it is the step when you will become my family. You are my family, Emma...If you fall ill again, I will put you down to bed and let you rest and call for a doctor. If you crave for your favorite food, I'll run to the kitchen and cook it for you or order it with a phone call if I can't. If you say no right now, I promise I'll still just care for you and realize that you truly don't love me."
She looked at me breathlessly, looking completely astounded. "Well...I need some time."
"No I think I already gave you enough time."
"...Well...Um it won't do any good staying in that apartment...It is separate rooms right?"
I brightened with a smile and nodded. "Yes. So what do you say?"
"If you're serious about taking things slow, then I guess I have some packing to do."
