Emma

I never had such a good night sleep in my life. The only thing that was disappointing was that I still had to wake up early to get Henry ready for school. Killian started off back to New York without Henry's assistance this time. Henry struggled to get ready without feeling groggily and tempted to go back to bed. I just smiled. After all my warnings, he ends up learning that I'm right once it happens.

Killian was thoughtful enough to prepare breakfast for us in the living room. While Henry started to eat his food, I went to my room to change. I kneeled down beside my suitcase and fished out an outfit for myself. Thankfully, I now have the privilege to wear what I want, and I never felt so happy in my life. I chose a pair of my old blue jeans, and a v-cut white sleeve shirt. I was so tired last night that I didn't bother to change out of this dress. I feel so relieved to take it off though. I am never going to wear this ever again.

I first put on the shirt and jumped in my jeans. But unfortunately, the pants are too big for me. I took off the pants and folded it neatly and placed it back in the suitcase. I took out a multiple of other pants I can wear, but none of them fit me.

I walked toward the mirror and lifted my shirt to reveal my stomach. I could see a little bump, after all the food I ate last night, I expected that fat to show. I lowered my shirt down. And went back to my suitcase to choose something else to wear.

"Looks like I'm going to be busy going through the 'Getting Fat but Healthy Diet'."

After long searching for something to wear, I got nothing. All my shirts fit me just fine, but I got nothing to wear underneath. I looked at the dress that I threw on the bed in disappointment. I quickly folded all my clothes and arranged them neatly back in my suitcase. And I pulled myself up and removed the shirt and slipped the dress back on.

I went back to the living room and found Killian and Henry eating a few warm cinnamon rolls with tall glasses of milk. I joined them and carefully picked a cinnamon roll with both my fork and knife.

Henry wiped his hands with a napkin. "Mom, Killian said that once we get home, I'll be two hours late for school."

I nodded and sliced a piece with my knife. "Oh gosh, it looks like I need to think of a good excuse for the school to understand your absence."

"Just tell them the truth." Killian suggested.

"The truth? You mean the fact that you got my son involved to kidnap me here outside of New York?"

He shook his head. "No. Except for the fact if you did it'll be one heck of a story, but no what I was suggesting is to tell the truth that Henry sacrificed a day of school to help you get better. I mean sure, I was the brain to all of this, but Henry was there for you the whole time and really showed you the grand fun other than relying on life with work and money."

"Killian." I dropped my silverware straight down on my plate.

"I'm serious. Or you can always make up something that he was sick. But sometimes honesty can provide sympathy too. Isn't that right mate?"

Henry nodded with mouthfuls of cinnamon roll. And the two shared a fist pump.

"Oh you boys, what am I going to do with you?"

~ It was a long difficult drive to just get that little rascal to school. Apparently, Henry missed four hours of school! When we arrived to New York, we were an hour early. But when Killian started the car, we passed by a movie theater and Henry acted up about wanting to watch this one horror movie so badly. I instantly refused and told him firmly that was out of the question. But of course, Killian encouraged me with him and I don't know how that man made it possible...I think Henry is going to have nightmares tonight. Well, actually me. I haven't watched a horror movie in years, the last time I ever watched one was Carrie. But now I changed my mind, Insidious Part ll is beyond the scariest movie than Carrie. Period.

Unfortunately, Henry's goal to waste time as much as he could did not end there. After the movie, he wanted to get a bite to eat and pointed out at a pizza restaurant that was just across the street. Killian again won the battle with him to go there, but this time he made me happy by warning Henry that's the very last stop we're going to make.

The pizza there was real good. I actually ate four slices, and didn't even bother to talk. After we were done the waitress came by to clear the table.

She smiled at us. "Is there anything else I can get you?"

Killian looked at me and Henry. We both shook our heads, feeling so heavy from the food. "No thank you. Just the check please."

I took a sip of my coke. And handed her all the diry plates as she placed them on the tray.

"You guys are a really cute family."

I almost choked on my drink and quickly slammed my glass down on the table. While I hackled myself awkwardly, Killian played his part.

"Thank you. I hope our family gets much bigger soon. Right honey?" He looked straight at me and gave me a quick wink. I can see how he's dying to laugh.

I just gave him a confused nod. The waitress just smiled even bigger and walked back to the kitchen. Once she was gone the three of us laughed our hearts out. It was even harder to recover when she came back with the check.

Finally when we went back in the car, Henry still continued with his little scheme to bail out of school, but Killian refused and drove on. I was so proud of Killian that I had the urge to reward him with a kiss.

When Killian pulled over, we all got out of the car. I don't know why Killian is coming with us, but after all the trouble he went through for us, I might as well et him tag along if he wishes. We went inside the school office and stopped by at the front desk.

The woman who was seated behind the counter removed a yellow paper out from a drawer. "Hi, may I help you?"

"Yes, my son needs a tardy slip."

"Oh, alright. What's your name?"

Henry straightened the straps of his back pack. "Henry. Henry Swan."

"Okay. What class do you have now."

He looked at the clock above the counter. "Ummm...I now have Language Arts. My teacher is Mrs. Optun in room 309."

She scribbled the information down on the yellow paper and stood up from her chair and handed the paper to Henry. She pointed to a clip board beside her.

"Mrs. Swan, you have to fill this out before Henry attends to his class."

I nodded. "Okay." When she returned back to her chair, I picked up a pen and scribbled down my signature and the reason of Henry's absence on the paper. Killian was behind me, and he exchanged a quick pleasant talk with Henry.

I placed the pen down once I was finished. "Thank you."

The woman nodded.

"Okay. Run along."

Henry looked at me nervously. "Umm...Well, mom. Can you and Killian come with me?"

I arched an eyebrow. "Why? You know where your class is."

"I know. But lunch is going to start soon...and it'll be nice if I don't eat alone today. Since we already ate, can't you and Killian be my lunch buds just for today."

I sighed and looked at Killian. "Is it okay for you, Killian?"

He nodded. "It's fine with me. Milah is taking my place for now, don't worry about me."

I placed a hand on Henry's shoulder. "Okay. But only for today. Got it?"

Henry instantly brightened into a smile.

I had no idea he was so lonely in school. Neither did he ever got a chance to talk about it with me...I feel a little uneasy to find out this way.

When we left the school office, Henry led us to the hallway. He grabbed Killian's wrist and showed him around. He pointed out his locker, the "cursed" drinking fountain no one uses, and the hundreds of doors that are arranged to specific grades. I crossed my arms across my chest and watched them with a smile. It feels so good that Henry's excitement hasn't flickered a bit. This is a side that's very rare to see. The last time I saw him this happy and excited was when he first started to walk.

Henry pointed out to his class and he opened the door. Everyone looked at us as the three of us walked in. The teacher was in the middle of the class with a marker on her hand. Henry went over to her and handed her the yellow paper.

"Mrs. Optun, I'm sorry I'm late."

She took the paper and gave it a quick look and slipped it in her pocket. "Not at all, Henry. But it appears you won't be learning anything today, its going to be lunch in ten minutes now."

I stepped in. "I'm sorry. Henry was just helping me out with something very important and we ended up losing track of time."

Mrs. Optun nodded. "Not at all, Mrs. Swan. Henry why won't you say goodbye to your mother so the class can go on with their lesson."

Henry waved at us and went straight at the end of the row to his desk. Before I headed out the door, Killian looked straight at the board.

"Career day? Is today career day?"

Mrs. Optun nodded. "Yes, Mr. Swan."

"May I share something to the class?"

She smiled and took a step back. "Of course, Mr. Swan by all means go ahead."

Killian stood in the middle of the room behind the white board. I crossed my arms and remained beside the doorway.

He cleared his throat. "Hello class. I'm Killian. And I'm going to talk to you about future careers. When you hear the word career, you think about all sorts of jobs you're familiar with. Such as a fire fighter, a teacher, a chef, a lawyer, or a doctor and so on and so forth. But what's your main focus when you hear your teacher or your parents discuss with you about jobs? Let's be honest here. There's no right or wrong answer to this question so feel free to answer how you feel about that."

A few of the kids slowly raised their hands. Killian pointed to a boy who was three seats in front of Henry. "Yes, you there?"

"Honestly, I think about what kind of job could help me make a lot of money."

"I agree with you. I mean who wouldn't want to make some decent cash every day. Many of you nowadays want Ipods, laptops, race cars...What other things do you like?"

Half the kids raised their hands to answer, others just shouted out answers.

"I want a Galaxy S4."

"I want a big house so I don't have to live with my parents anymore."

"I want a real cool sports car of my own."

"I so want a real big diamond ring that could beat my mother's wedding ring."

Killian lifted his hands to settle them down. "Okay. So there's a lot of things you like. Well, guess what, you all better study real hard, because the harder you study and succeed the more of your dreams and desires will become possible..."

A girl with angel golden curls who was sitting behind Henry, raised her hand. "Mister, what do you do for a living?"

"Very good question. I am a club owner. I was in the business industry since I was twenty-one...Working in the business field is absolutely amazing. Every day I arrange charity ceremonies, fancy parties, and also a black and white ball in my very own club. It makes me feel so good to have such important people to come to me and give me these responsibilities. That's something that school helps you with, kids. Once you work your butt off to college, and later stop complaining about school when you get your degree; people out there starts to trust you by that piece of paper you achieved.

"When I got enough money for college, I took a big step and started small with my club while I was attending college. It wasn't easy, but once I got my degree and business worked out little by little, every sacrifice and worry was all worth it. I know right now school just annoys the heck out of you. Believe me, I myself hated school too. But school is the way that will leap you right up to where you want to be. Now if you don't believe me when I say that I understand how you feel about school, then sit back and listen to this story, mates. I remember when I was in the first grade, my teacher caught me reading a comic book during class, so she took me by the arm and made me sit in the 'chair of shame'. It was the worst experience I ever had in my life. The chair was pink and had these – sorry if I might offend to those who likes unicorns – ridiculous huge unicorns on them. And I was forced to sit on it in front of the class. My teacher turned it over while I shrugged my shoulders in embarrassment."

The children started to giggle.

Killian smiled and sighed. "Apparently, that wasn't the end of it. When it was snack time, the teacher served us apple juice and some gram crackers. I was allowed to join the other children but I still had to sit on that shameful chair. When I first finished my gram crackers, a kid beside me accidently leaned against me and made me spill my apple juice on my pants. When I stood up to go tell the teacher, the kids gasped and before I knew it my face was tomato red when the kids started laughing their heads off. For three straight years, I was called 'Pee-Pee-Wee-Wee'."

The children laughed even louder and this time I joined them.

"Anyway, I hope to those who understand me about those types of embarrassing moments, I assure you to hang in there and promise you that all those moments will be forgotten in time. Because kids, my name may have been 'Pee-Pee-Wee-Wee till the third grade, but my name changed to 'Dude you're lucky' when I proved to myself and to those you doubted me in the past by building my career that I worked on for so long. And I truly hope that all of you children will hang in there and become successful with effort and patience just like I did. Thank you."

The children and the teacher clapped their hands as Killian walked over to me. He wrapped an arm around me and gave a quick wave to Henry before the two of us went out the door. When we started straight across the hall, he slipped his other hand on my hand and pulled me close.

"That was very brave of you back there."

"Just wanted to motivated the kids, that's all."

"Thank you. I really appreciate you doing that."

He kissed my hand and simply shook his head. "It was nothing...In fact, this is the first time I ever been in a public school before."

"Oh. How about your ten year high school reunion? Didn't you attend to that event?"

He wrinkled his nose and shook his head. "Hell no. High school was a nightmare, after I graduated I didn't plan on going back there again. So when I first made my first million, the first thing I did was tear that school down and replace it with a orphanage."

I gave him a disappointed look. "Killian."

"Hey relax. Replacing a school to an orphanage is still charity work."

"Well, I guess I should give you credit for that. Besides, I never went to my high school reunion either...I couldn't bear the thought of going home again. But thankfully, Bae and I later swallow our fears and went home for a visit."

"Ah. You never mentioned about your parents. Where are they?"

"They live in a little town called Storybrooke. My mother was a housewife ever since I was a teenager, but she later went back to school and got a degree in education. My dad is a miner. There are a lot of times I keep telling my old man to retire, but he just never wanted to stop."

"What are their names?"

"My parents have unique names back home. My mom's name is Snow and my dad's is Charming. That's not their real names, their real names are Ginnifer and Josh. But they got those silly nicknames based on how they met for the first time. Before I was even born, my mom was in the cemetery to visit my grandfather's grave. He died when my mom was little, it was hard for her to accept the fact that she's an orphan. After she shed a couple of tears, she left the cemetery but when she crossed the street that was near the church, a truck came by and crashed her straight down. My mother actually flew in the air and landed on her back. Her leg was twisted, her skull cracked and her spinal cord paralyzed.

"She was sent to the hospital and the driver was sent to court. This is where my dad comes in the story. Unfortunately, the driver was my dad's father. He was drunk and my grandpa took him home furiously and somehow started the accident. He first visited the hospital with some flowers for my mom. She was still incautious. He stepped in her room secretly and placed the flowers by the bed stand. Now I'm not sure if this part of the story is true, but my parents swore this actually happened. When my dad looked straight her face, he was so..so enchanted how beautiful she was. Other than the bandages and the scars on her skin, she was still so beautiful like a sunlight trapped in a naked bottle. My dad approached her, and took her hand.

"He wept silently by how cold it was and the pitiful injuries she was going through. He looked at her face again feeling so broken in the inside, and suddenly had the urge to kiss her. When my parents told me this story for the first time when I was a child, I actually believed this cheesy and impossible fairy tale was all true, but now I think about it I'm not even sure how it was possible...Anyway, so my father kissed her and when he slowly broke away, she opened her eyes and looked up at him. Instead of wondering where the hell she was, or feeling so shocked of how broken her body is, she simply smiled so sweetly at my dad as if she known him all her life or waited for him to come to her. After long years of recovery, my mother and father got close and they got married. When they told people in town about how they met, that's when people named my parents Snow and Charming, just like the fairy tale story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."

"That's a lovely story. Do you think I could meet them?"

I gave him a mocking smile and shook my head. "...Maybe. I'll keep my eyes on you to see how well you behave, young man."

"Oh come on, Emma. Think of me as your gorgeous perfect boyfriend your parents ever dreamed of, not as your son."

"Again, Killian I'll see how well you behave."

The bell rang and the students immediately went out the doors.

~ Henry led us to a nearby tree and the three of us sat against its trunk. The boys talked on and on about the new house. I can see how excited Henry is about decorating his own room. Oh Lord, that boy never had a room of his own since the day he was born. I bet after like three days, he'll adapt to sleeping all by himself without me next to him.

Suddenly, a girl came up to us. She was the same girl back at the class who asked about Killian's job. She waved her hand at Henry. "Hi, Henry. Hi Mr. and Mrs. Swan."

I shook my head. "No sweetheart, this isn't my husband. His my...His my um...Well, his my boyfriend."

I ignored Killian's amused smile.

"Oh. Well, I'm Emily. It's nice to meet you both."

Killian wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Would you like to join us, love?"

She smiled and nodded. "Yes I would love to." She went over to Henry and sat beside him.

I can see how nervous Henry is getting. I leaned closer to Killian and whispered in his ear to help Henry out.

Killian nodded. "So Emily, are you and Henry close?"

Emily nodded, her perfect curls moved along with her as she started to unwrap a sandwich out of her lunch pail. "We're really close friends."

"Tell me, sweetheart, and don't be shy. Do you have a boyfriend?"

Her cheeks instantly blushed and she shook her head sheepishly. "No. No I don't have a boyfriend."

"No. A pretty girl like you is single?" Killian padded Henry's shoulder hard as a signal for him to quickly make his move.

"Thank you, Mr. Killian."

"Please no more of the formal misters, simply call me Killian." He moved his hand off Henry's shoulder as Henry straightened himself up a bit.

"Okay." She took a bite of her sandwich and turned her attention to Henry.

Henry cleared his throat. "Urm...So what did you choose for your future career?"

"I chose to be a nurse. When I grow up and get into medical school, I'm going to work in hospitals for a few years and until I'm more experienced, I'm planning on getting an overseas job out of the country. It's always been my dream to travel but also doing it for a good cause other than just exploring for the different cultural food, clothes, and history, and beautiful places where I can go sightseeing...I know you missed the assignment, but what do you want to be Henry?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "I got nothing in mind really...But the idea about writing books really interests me."

"Really? So you want to be an author? That's cool. What kind of books do you dream about writing, like what genre?"

"Like fantasy. I love fantasy. I know most of the guys like science fiction and war books and comics. But I'm more of the opposite. My favorite story of all times is Rumplestilskin. I know it's a childish novel that's below my reading level, but I just adore that book."

"Me too. Oh gosh, I still get goose bumps on the part when he set a deal to exchange the price to turn every straw into gold for her future firstborn baby."

He smiled. "I love how the ending ends sweetly, well, except for Rumplestilskin."

She removed the other slice out of the zip lock bag and handed it to Henry. "Want one?"

"Thanks." He took it and took a bite. "Mmmm. Nutella. I love Nutella."

"Me too. I mean I still love peanut butter but Nutella beats it fair and square."

I watched those two in awe. I never thought that Henry could actually ever reach to the point when he starts to be interested in girls. It's quite heartwarming to see that.

Killian pressed his chin against the top of my head as I pressed my cheek against his chest. "I know the perfect place for those two to have their date." He whispered quietly.

"I hardly doubt Henry will ask her out today. Maybe tomorrow, but not today."

"Just wait and see." The two of us turned our heads and watched them again.

Henry chewed slowly on the sandwich and swallowed hard. "Urm...Um, Emily. Can I ask you something?"

Emily tucked a strand of one of her locks behind her ear. "Sure. What's up?"

"I was wondering. Um...Uh, are you free this Friday?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Well, do you wanna hang out and maybe get a bite to eat on that day...with me?"

I gripped tightly on Killian's shirt. Impatiently waiting for the little girl to say yes.

She curved a big smile and flashed her entire teeth. "I love too. Where do you have in mind?"

Literally, Killian and I released a relief sigh at the exact time.

Henry brightened with a smile. "Really? Wow, that's awesome...Um maybe we could go watch a movie and go out for some ice cream."

"Can we watch Insidious Part ll?! I heard that it's really really scary."

Henry grinned a fake smile. "Oh. Sure."

Killian kissed my cheek and whispered. "I told you."

"Oh shut up...I can't believe my own son has a date in just a few days. Huh. I guess surprises won't end here."

I hope you guys like this. Please review and tell me what you think about this so far. Honestly many of you have been very quiet, I really want to know if you guys like what I'm adding. I'll really appreciate it.
