Emma
After we left the school, Killian drove to our new house. The neighborhood is beautiful. All the houses are designed in different forms and different color. And the far side by a long and wide tree was a large white painted house. Killian pulled over to that one. I gasped as I got out of the car.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "What do you think?"
I looked at him with an unbelievable smile. "Y-you...Oh gosh, Killian. It's perfect."
"I'm glad you like it. Come on let's go inside. There's far more for you to see."
I nodded. And the two of us walked across the cemented path that led us to the doorway. Killian reached one of his hands in his pockets and pulled out a spare of keys. I looked around over my shoulder while Killian was trying to guess which key was the right one to unlock the door. This place is absolutely perfect, Henry is going to love it here. I hope he could make some friends with the neighbors around here. It'll be nice for him to get out of the house once in a while. Killian finally found the right key and unlocked the door.
When I looked inside, the place is completely empty but the emptiness just draws me in to plan out what and how to fill everything all in here. Before I can take a step in, Killian scooped me up in his arms and walked in. I laughed but begged him at the same time to put me down.
"Killian. Now come on. I could walk."
He shook his head. "You Americans are so silly sometimes. Don't you know its tradition for a man to carry his woman to their first house?"
I pressed my forehead on his fuzzy cheek, and wrapped one of my arms around his neck. "Thank you..."
"This is just the start. But your welcome."
He gave me a tour in every room of the house. I wanted to die when he even had the strength to carry me all the way up the stairs. I know I got too light from the past eight years, but after what he's been feeding me, I doubt if his arms still have the strength to lift an empty box later on. There are four bedrooms upstairs; one that stands out is the main room with a balcony. Killian and I decided to save the main room as the guest room. He carried me back downstairs and went out to the backyard.
The backyard is really wide with fresh grass and flowers and tall bushes in the side of the white painted fences.
"I'm planning to put a pool here and a lovely fountain in the side out here and also another one in front of the house."
"A pool? Killian, I can't swim and Henry never went to a pool in his life."
"I'll teach him. Trust me, when it's summer time that boy would be dying to jump in a pool to cool down."
I sighed. "Killian, I don't know. Because the fountain and the pool and probably everything else you're thinking of buying seems too expensive. Maybe we should think of a budget of how much we're going to spend. Besides, you're the one who volunteered to pay for all of this. I feel guilty enough that I can't do anything other than agree what to buy that can empty your wallet in a second."
"Nonsense. Emma, ever since I got rich, the word budget only exists in my company, not in my house. When it comes to my life outside of the company, I tend to buy anything that will make things perfect, no matter how much money it'll take."
I lightly slapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, I don't care if you're the Pharaoh who bathes in a bathtub of melted gold every morning. So don't be so rash with your own money. After all you sit in your office chair for hours, and meet so many clients you hardly know just to boost up your company's popularity and money. The money you make is very precious, if you think about it."
"Enough with the money talk. Jesus, you sound like as if you're my wife."
I slapped him again but little harder. "Hey. If I was your wife, I'll be taking money out of your checkbook every day without feeling guilty. But since I'm not, will you be so kind to take me back home so I can make some phone calls?"
"So you can quit your jobs?"
I nodded. "Yes. Well, if that's okay with you. Really, Killian I don't want to be a burden to you, of for Henry."
"How can you say that? Emma, you and Henry are now my family, who I want to get to know slowly. Remember? I get it that it's not going to be easy. But hell, I'm crazy about you, I can't bear the thought of letting you go and allow you to continue to live in such a life you used to live in. No. No that's going to stop. Okay? So don't think of such things like that."
"Okay."
He headed to the door and locked it before closing it. "Oh and by the way, there's no need to make those phone calls. I already made them."
I quickly lifted my head and looked straight at his eyes. "You what?!"
"Hey don't get mad. I figured you would quit eventually, and if you didn't I'll force you."
"Killian!"
"I'm sorry. Okay."
I took a breath and slipped my arms off his neck. "Put me down."
"Emma, I'm really sorry."
"I said put me down." I muttered harshly.
He slowly nodded and carefully put me down on my feet. I crossed my arms across my chest and marched back inside the car. When he started off back to my apartment, I gave him the silent treatment and didn't speak a word.
"Emma. Emma please. I know you're mad, but can we talk?"
I leaned back on my seat and looked out the window.
"Emma, this treatment you're giving me is killing me. Please say something."
I still didn't say anything.
We finally arrived at my apartment. I quickly unbuckled my seat belt and opened the door. He grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"Look I'm sorry. I was an idiot to try to do things my own way. Believe me I didn't mean to hurt you in any way."
"You should have thought of that before you called my bosses. Goodbye." I yanked my arm off his grasp and got out of the car.
He rolled down the window. "Emma, please come back here."
I turned around. "You wanna talk? Here let me tell you in sign language what the answer to that question is. Look at my hand carefully." I straighten one of my arms and flipped the bird. And quickly turned around and ran inside the building.
