Emma
Us girls celebrated in the living room with a lot of pizza and a lot of champagne. Of course, we bought a bottle of soda for Henry. We just lay back on the couch, turning up the music, sharing each other's secrets, and laughed hysterically at almost every conversation.
Marjorie grabbed a cushion and pressed it close to her chest. "So, its your turn Emma. Now let's pick a good one for you. Hmmm...Okay. Have you ever seen one?"
Ruby almost choked on her glass of champagne and clapped her hands together in agreement. "Now that's a question!"
I blushed tomato red, but also couldn't help but laugh. "I seen one..Maybe couple of them."
Marjorie and Ruby squealed out "oooo" in unison.
"Hey I'm a girl too. Please rest my case." I took two bites of my pizza.
Ruby rubbed her hands together excitedly. Oh boy, what other bombs are you going to drop on me? "Yeah, okay..But have you...You know, touched one?"
I opened my mouth to speak. But the reaction of their eagerness just totally made me blew it. I quickly buried my face in a pillow and laughed. The girls joined me. They didn't need to ask me to answer that. My laughter is obvious to the answer to that question.
Once I recovered, I leaned back on the couch and placed the cushion comfortably on my belly. "It was back in high school okay. The first time was in the beach..Bae and I were absolute crazy rebels back then. And at that hour when we arrived, we weren't suppose to be there. But we didn't care and just relaxed on the sand. It was nice before a policeman came. Now we both were panicking because the policeman was suddenly after us. Bae pulled me up and we ran to the car. But before we ever got in, I was so close to Bae and things were so crazy, my hand just somehow flew everywhere and grabbed something really odd that pulled Bae down all of a sudden..."
Marjorie buried herself in Ruby's lap while Ruby was covering her mouth from laughing and slapping the side of the sofa so hard.
"It was a long time ago okay. Oh gosh I'm drunk. I can't believe I told you that."
"I'm glad I found out about that dark secret of yours on time, Emma Swan."
The three of us stopped laughing and slowly glanced up at the person who spoke, leaning against the wall by the fireplace. Its Killian. Its such a relief that Henry is not beside him.
I stood up embarrassed and went over to his side. I awkwardly placed a hand on one of his lower arms. "H-Hey."
"I'm sorry I interrupted your little party."
I shook my head. "Um. Not at all. Where's Henry?"
"He's getting out of the car to get some of his things we bought for the trip. It's for his science project, I'll tell you about it later."
I feel so shocked and humiliated right now. I wish I could just simply disappear like the three champagne bottles me and the girls finished.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and leaned his face closer to mine for a kiss. He placed a gentle kiss on my cheek. But before he pulled away he whispered in my ear. "Don't be embarrassed, love. Believe me I went through worse."
I nodded shakily and gulped hard. Killian slowly slipped his arm off me and excused himself to go upstairs to change. When he was gone, Marjorie and Ruby broke into their desperate laughter. And no matter how my cheeks burn from humiliation, I sat between them and joined them too.
Two weeks later.
Things are still a little uneasy, but each and every day from the past few short weeks, the three of us grown closer and closer. For the first time of my life, I never felt so happy to just wake up in the morning at any hour as I want, and of course, meeting my handsome prince charming later in the evening, or if I'm lucky for the entire day.
The project Henry and Killian as been working on was a total success, and he's been getting quite popular now in school. Not to mention his little girlfriend, Emily. Oh I can't help but awe by the sight of my little boy being in the arms of such a beautiful girl. But of course, once that girl starts her period, me and Killian are going to deal with the talk. Other than the fact I'm his mother, I'm crossing my fingers that I don't have to be the one to explain all that to him.
Milah and Jefferson has been out of the picture since the day I was sent to the hospital a second time. I feel a lot more comfortable keeping distance between them. Although I have no idea where Bae is, Milah makes things a lot more complicated and shocking. I don't need rumors or a confession from Killian himself to tell me how much Milah hates me. But whether we are enemies or just two complicated women, she is my mother-in-law in a way, not legally, but involving Henry doesn't deny the fact she is his grandmother. Jefferson, on the other hand, is someone I feel so guilty about. I mean, if someone told me before all this ever happened, that I'll end living in an amazing house in rich life with Killian Jones, I'll just immediately in a snap of a finger choose Jefferson before its too late. Besides, I still don't admit that we were really close and got connected from the heart before Killian took me away. But now blames and his dark pains are all pointing to me. I don't think I can ever face him again or be able to knock at his door one day and say I'm sorry I saw you as an opportunity to save my son, other than thinking of you as a man I'm interested in and hope to love for the rest of my life.
Living here though, is also something I feel guilty about. From what others think, they probably think I'm a crazy desperate woman, using a wealthy man and control him so I can live a better life with my son. There are a lot of times I agree to that. But there are also a lot of times when I slowly released them from my mind once I'm in Killian's arms. It's certainly strange and..Well mean to say that my guilt goes away from a single sweet embrace from a gorgeous Irish business man. But to me – to us it is not strange or mean. I'm not positive of the word I'm going to say is really what it seems to be, but I hope one day Killian and I will agree on this: simply fated love.
Killian arrived home late. It's past midnight. And Henry sadly went to bed when it was passed his bed time. When Killian got in the house, he rushed upstairs to his room and changed to something comfortable. I was in my room, already dressed in my night gown over a beige knitted shawl. I leaned back on my bed and waited for him to come in. It's a thing we always do. He comes home and we talk pleasantly, and then we separate to our rooms. We're not ready – well I'm not ready yet for us to share a room together. But there are a lot of times he tries to stay in my room. First it was a long conversation that ended with a seductive catch phrase. The second was alcohol, which almost worked, but thanks to Henry I was able to stay awake for the entire evening. Now the last one...Well, I'm not sure yet. Maybe tonight, he might try one of his little schemes and I could add it to my list.
He came in my room without bothering to knock. He crawled on top of my bed and laid flat on it, his head resting on my lap.
He closed his eyes and folded his hands together, pressing them against his forehead. "Huh...What a day?"
I gently stroked his hair and smoothed his cheeks with my hands gently. "Long day for you?"
"Tell me about it. This Black and White Ball is one of the most exhausting events I ever planned in my career."
"Was it that horrible?"
"Don't even start, Emma. Apparently, the person in charge spoke only Spanish and his translator was stuck in traffic and arrived three hours late. Thank god Milah spoke fluently, so she instructed the manager and translated for me along the way. But oh lord, the man was impossible, Milah had to leave couple times and the manager was left confused and turned to me. Oh Emma, it was so embarrassing, I kept yelling at him in 'Spanglish' that totally confused the man and his workers. When Milah came back, she had to spend another hour to get everything back in place. For the first time in my life, I wish I didn't doze off in Spanish class back in high school."
I chuckled. "There's only one week left. After that you'll come home, where Henry and I will be waiting for you."
He dropped his hand and smirked his devious treasure cat smile. "Who said you're going to stay home?"
My smile disappeared. "Killian, please tell me you didn't buy me a dress, or a limo, or killing hooker shoes. And most certainly not a babysitter that I know of!"
He shrugged his shoulders, that smile of his still curved on his lips. "I was too tempted to do so. But my god, love, you are an excellent guesser."
I slapped his chest with my hand. "Killian."
He sat up and crawled to my side. "Emma, I need you there by my side. Its either that or Milah will end up calling for a slimy size zero supermodel or actress that I don't know of. You'll be just fine. Jefferson actually picked out the dress for you and including the accessories."
"Jefferson? Jefferson did all that for me?"
He took my hands, seriousness returning to his face. "I know it's going to take some time for you and Jefferson. But you have to confront him sooner or later, love. I know it's only been two weeks. But don't you think a time like two or five years is too long and harsh for the guy?"
"I guess...It's really overwhelming he'll do something like that for me..after what I did to him."
He kissed my knuckles and looked deep into my eyes. "I thought we discussed about this. It's all in the past. And to those who can't accept that, give them some time to understand your reasonings."
I nodded. "...Okay."
~ The day of the ball came closer and closer. I went to New York to visit my girls and Granny. Granny was thrilled to see me when I arrived to the motel.
I can see tear drops falling down through her spectacles. "You look so healthy, Emma...Oh. It's so good to see you."
"It's good to see you too. I'm glad all of you are well."
"When someone called that you're quitting your job here, I never in my life felt so happy for you. I pitied you so much from the past years, and now I pity myself for wasting all my youth working in this dump."
I rubbed her shoulders in comfort. "Now Granny, let's just put all that aside and be happy what's going on now."
"Of course, dear. Oh I wish I can talk longer, but I must return back to work. There's three unhappy customers who are complaining about the food. Will you excuse me?"
"Of course, nice talking to you."
When she left, Marjorie and Ruby dragged me to the employee lounge.
Marjorie placed her school bag down on the couch. "Okay, I have to go to work in half an hour. But I have ten minutes to kill, so spill."
"Wait, before I talk about the ball, which one of you is babysitting Henry?"
Marjorie raised her hand in guilt. I sighed and just nodded. "When did he asked you?"
"Three weeks ago?"
I gasped. "Three week ago?!...Why that little rat..." I glanced at Ruby, I can simply read the guilt drawn on her face also.
"You knew too?"
She sighed. "Yes! And I am so happy to finally open my big mouth..Huh. So tell us about the Black and White Ball."
"It's not until Saturday. I have three days left."
Ruby clapped her hands eagerly. "Did you see the dress?"
I shook my head. "No. I'll find out on the day of the ball."
Marjorie took my hand. "But what if you don't like it."
"Um..I won't be so concerned about that, since Jefferson picked it out for me."
The girls fell silent. They exchanged looks and changed their attention to me. Ruby touched my arm and started off. "You guys are friends?"
"No..Well, I don't think we are. I'm actually really nervous about seeing him."
Marjorie rubbed my hand with her palms. "Emma, it will be hard for the guy. But once you guys forgive and forget, I'm sure you two will build a close friendship somehow."
I nodded. "Yeah I hope so."
~ It's ten thirty. Henry and I are already dressed in our pajamas and waited for Killian's arrival. Again he's late. The two of us were watching television for two hours. Killian being late gave Henry an excuse to do anything he wanted to kill some time.
I turned off the television and pulled a sleepy Henry up to his feet. "Come on, bud. It's time for bed."
"Okay."
As he groggily got up on his feet, I guided him carefully upstairs and into his room. I tucked him in and blew a goodnight kiss before silently closing the door behind me.
I went to my room and lied down on the bed.
An hour passed. Still no Killian. I'm too tired tonight to stay up for him. I went under the covers and fell right asleep once my head touched my pillow.
It felt like I slept only for five minutes when something woke me back up. Light shone in the driveway. It's only eleven forty-five. I guess Killian is a little early tonight. I tossed the sheets to the side and grabbed my shawl. I wrapped it around my shoulders as I got out of my room and went straight downstairs. But Killian did not come in. Instead, there was a knock on the door.
"Who could it be at this late hour?" I mumbled.
I walked up to the doorway, and looked through the peek hole before thinking of opening the door. My jaw dropped as Milah stood there with her black purse hung on her shoulder.
I gulped. What is she doing here? Oh gosh, this isn't going to be some kind of crazy cat fight, is it? Oh Killian where are you when I really need you? I slowly unlocked the door and opened it.
Just as expected, she didn't smile or greeted a hello, she simply walked inside. I closed the door shut and followed her as she went to the living room.
"Did you decorate this house?"
"Um no. K-Killian did."
"Of course, he did. That boy has no taste to design a house for a family."
I lifted my hands and shook my head. "Oh no. No we're not exactly a real family."
She faced me, her lips pursed and her eyes not blinking a wink. "You mean not yet, which is one of the reasons why I came here to see you alone."
"Oh."
"Is your son asleep?"
"Yes."
"Good. Have a seat. I have something to tell you." She shrugged her purse off her shoulder, and seated down on the armchair.
I slowly obeyed and forced myself to sit on the couch that was beside the armchair she's sitting on. She removed her cell phone and a brown envelope out of her purse. "What I'm about to tell you is going to be something you're probably aware of, but something that'll still shock you. The only reason why I am telling you this is for both Killian's and including your sake. It appears, you two are too stubborn to realize this arrangement here is wrong. If you won't listen to what people say, and when I mean people I mean all of Killian's clients and myself, his trusted advisor, I will show you the prove in front of your eyes."
"Milah please –"
She lifted her hand to silence me. "I don't want to hear anything from you, Emma. I hope once I expose you the truth of Killian Jones, I won't be seeing you ever again face to face in the future." She took her phone and dialed something quickly. She pressed something and a voice started.
It's a sweet feminine voice. "Hey, babe, I can't wait for Friday. What should I wear this time, red or black?"
Milah pressed her finger on a button again.
Another different woman spoke. "Why won't you answer my calls, sugar? Last night was amazing yeah, but are you now ignoring me?"
Milah did it again.
Again another woman spoke. "I get you're just a causal one night stand man, Killian. But I can handle that. Really. I'll prove it to you. Meet me at my place at midnight, precisely. See you there."
Before she pressed the button again, I took the phone from her and turned it off. I can feel my eyes water but I swallowed them back in. "Okay. Fine, he had a lot of women. What's your point?"
"All those messages are connected from his phone. Emma, there are precisely three hundred text messages and four hundred and fifty-five voice mails from all fifty women Killian was with. I can snatch my phone back and make you listen to the other messages to help you understand my point...Killian may seem sweet to go on this journey with you. But now can you look at his face and still say that he is the man you love?"
"Like you said, I was already aware of this."
"But it doesn't end here. I got something else. Killian always has a schedule on who he's going to bang or just have a good clean time according to the week. He calls the girls by the day of each week when he's stressed out or just want to have some fun. But like any little boy has a favorite from his little toys, Killian never changed Monday girl...He loved that girl. Not exactly a romantic relationship between them, but he favored that girl the most out of all the forty nine bimbos in his list. She's an English young woman in her early twenties. They traveled to Europe, Africa, and in the winter to the Himalayas." She opened the brown envelope and took out the stack of pictures. She handed it to me.
With shaky hands, I flipped to picture to the next picture. All of them showed Killian and this beautiful woman by his side looking happy and so sweet. Tear drops fell down my eyes as I looked at the picture when they were dressed up in poor outfits to get married in this fake Renaissance wedding stand.
Milah looked at the picture I was looking at. "They both look pretty good together don't they?"
I gritted my teeth tightly and nodded.
"When Killian started this house and this entire ridiculous plan for you and your son, he informed me to get rid of all these girls. All of them attacked me, while he was safely with you and Henry. But Monday girl was the only one who was calm, as if she knew that would happen sooner or later. I never heard from her after that."
I wiped my eyes and pushed my hair back couple times."...I think I can..I think I can slowly forgive Killian in time. Thank you for sharing this with me. Now please leave, I don't think I can bear any more information you know of." I stood up and took shaky steps toward the stairway.
"Why do you think you see him only at night, except for his day off?"
I stopped and gripped tightly on the rails. "Because he has to work." I didn't dare turn around to face her again.
"No. No its because every night when he goes to work, he leaves early to see his girls. To apologize to them but also stay with them. Especially with Monday girl."
"But you just said you haven't heard from her since the day you told her that Killian wants nothing to do with her, or the other women he was with."
"Yes, but I found out she's still in New York just this evening right before I ever thought of coming here. She sent me a email and quickly typed that she saw Killian's car stopping by just outside her apartment."
I can feel my heartbeat raise and my mouth growing dry. I shook my head as more tears fell down my cheeks. "No. No. You're lying. You're lying to me just to hurt me."
"Oh Emma, I may hate you more than you imagine. But I would never lie to ease my anger and hatred toward you. If you truly don't believe me, ask the man yourself. He should be here after spending another hour or two with his dear sweet English woman."
I bit tightly on my lip. My legs wobbled and tried all its strength to hold my body from falling. I listend to Milah picking her bag up and leaving out the door. When the door was shut and quietness returned, I melted down on my knees and sobbed madly on the carpet. I gritted my teeth tightly to silence myself. But I can't help but letting myself go and just let them release its desperate pain.
Oh how could Killian do this to me? Am I not enough? Is it horrifying to be responsible of a child? Or is my appearance less satisfying now?!
Awww poor Emma I know. But unfortunately, this doesn't end here. A lot of this are going to get a little nasty. So prepare yourselves for the next chapter guys because it will shock you..hopefully. Love you all. Byee
