Bryson had to shield his eyes when he woke up. The moon was gone and was replaced with the bright sun. He groaned and stretched. He ached a bit from sleeping on the ground, and even had to yank a leaf stuck to his face. He looked down and blushed at what he saw, Dorothy asleep, resting her head on his shoulder. He smiled and was tempted to just kiss her head. She looked cute when she was asleep... well, to him she always looked cute.

He stretched some more, looking around for his other companions. He got up and walked around, looking to the tree to see if Finley was still slumped there, asleep. He was, and he was snoring. Pretty loudly at that. Bryson chuckled a little at it and then turned, noticing there were logs around the ground, he assumed Tin Man started a fire over night. He walked around to try and find his tin friend, but he didn't go too far, in fear of getting lost. So instead he just sighed and flopped down on a log, grabbing a twig and scuffing it across the ground in boredom. He decided to look around, he was in the forest so he couldn't see much, but still, Oz was too beautiful not to look at for him.

As he was beginning to be lost deep in his thoughts, he heard a familiar voice call out for him. "Morning!" It called, it was Finley. Bryson turned around and nodded at the primate to acknowledge him. "Hey...morning. Did you sleep well?" Bryson asked.

Finley nodded. "Sure did, like a baby, in fact. What about you?"

"Not too bad, not too ba-"

Bryson's eyes widened.

"Um.. what is it, Bryson?" Finley asked.

"Turn around..." Bryson replied.

Finley slowly and shakily turned his head and gasped when he saw a small Kalidah snarling at him, showing it's dangerously sharp teeth. Finley gulped and shook in fear, turning back to his friend. "We've gotta find Dorothy and Tin Man... right now..." Finley told him. Bryson nodded and looked at the Kalidah. "I know where Dorothy is.. but not Tin Man.."

Finley nodded. "I don't know where he is either... you go get Dorothy... I'll distract the Kalidah.." Finley said while staring at the Kalidah, who seemed to be sizing up Finley.

"But..." Bryson started to protest.. but then shook his head.

"Come on, I'm like a professional distractor, how many times have I distracted things the past few days?"

Bryson smirked and shrugged. "Alright.." Bryson muttered. He slowly walked away, keeping his eyes on the Kadliah. The Kalidah turned his head away from Finley to Bryson. Bryson kept looking at the Kalidah as he slowly made his way to Dorothy. He slowly knelled down, still keeping his eyes on it. He breathed heavy as he started to shake Dorothy, trying hard to wake her up so they could try and escape. Dorothy did not respond and the Kalidah knelled down as well, snarling. Finally, the Kadliah stopped sizing up Bryson and the beast prepared to lunge at him, but then Finley took charge.

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Finley yelped.

Bryson couldn't help but smirk at Finley's odd yet funny.. distracting skills.

The Kalidah stopped snarling and turned its head to Finley, then slowly started crawling up to him. Bryson panicked and quickly rushed over. The Kalidah was now prepared to lunge at Finley, but Bryson found one of the logs he was just previously sitting on. He lifted it up and prepared to hit the Kalidah. He was hesitant. He never liked harming animals. Even ones like these. All they were trying to do was eat. Maybe he was just too sensitive and innocent about this kind of stuff. But he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

But the Kalidah then pounced on Finley and roared at him. Finley screamed and Bryson quickly had to make up his mind, he couldn't let his friend be hurt. These creatures already damaged one of his wings, he didn't want anything else to happen.

He closed his eyes and lifted up the log and whacked the beast hard with the log. The log wasn't the biggest thing in the world, though it was a bit heavy and enough to cause damage to the beast, who was small, but it's sharp teeth were sure to do a number.

The Kalidah rolled over a few feet away and Bryson held up the log in preparation. The Kaldiah shook his head and ran over to to Bryson.

Bryson positioned the log like a baseball bat and swiped at the Kaldiah hard, causing the Kaldiah to go flying a few feet away yet again, scuffing across the ground. The Kalidah lifted up again and snarled more, it decided to give up on the teen and the primate, rushing over to Dorothy. It inspected her, sniffing her. Bryson's eyes widened and he rushed over, smacking it hard with the log once more, causing it to fall over. Finley started to yelp and rushed over with a log in his own hand. The Kalidah started to get up again, but Finley smacked its back hard, and the Kalidah finally collasped, and began to whimper. Bryson's eyes widened and he dropped his log. Finley gave a concerned look, as did Bryson.

"I think we hurt it too much.. we need to stop.." Bryson explained.

Finley slowly nodded. "You're right..."

"Now I feel guilty..." Finley continued.

The two stood over the Kalidah, who was still whimpering. But then, they heard another snarl. But the snarl from this sounded bigger. And then they could hear foot steps... but these steps sounded much larger...

They turned around and were horrified at the sight.

It was a full grown Kalidah. It was huge. It was at least 90 inches long. It made the previous Kalidah look like a teddy bear. It started to growl at the group and walked towards them. With it's enormous length it took no time at all. It sniffed and growled at them, causing Bryson and Finley to tremble in fear.

Just then, they started to hear Dorothy groan, she rubbed her eyes and yawned, but then looked up and screamed in shock at the large Kalidah. She instantly got up, stumbling a bit. Her two friends helped her up. She looked at them with a concerned look, shocked at the creature.

"Where's Tin Man?" Dorothy asked with a worried tone.

"We have no idea!" Finley replied, scared out of his mind.

Dorothy noticed the small Kalidah on the floor, which seemed to be happy by the appearance of the larger Kalidah. She opened her mouth to ask what happened, but quickly stopped.

Finley started to panic and decided to call for Tin Man. "Tin Man! Tin Man!" Finley shouted.

The huge Kalidah growled in response and got closer to the three, it then roared, causing the three of them to start running. The Kalidah roared loudly in response and slowly turned around, its mass was large but it was very sluggish, as it began to chase them, they suddenly heard the sounds of footsteps. They all turned as they ran and could make out Tin Man making his way over to them. He ran up to them and they stopped for him and caught their breaths.

"What are you running from?" Tin Man asked.

Finley pointed and Tin Man turned around and gasped when he saw the massive Kalidah.

"My..." Tin Man started. "I've.. I've.. never seen a Kalidah so large!"

It was gaining on them.

Tin Man turned to them. "You guys need to leave! I built a zipline buy the river not too far from here! I'll hold it off!"

"But you could get hurt!" Dorothy protested.

Tin Man shook his head. "No, you need to get going, I can handle this!" Tin Man argued.

Finley grabbed Dorothy and they along with Bryson started to run once more as the Kalidah was now just mere inches away from Tin Man.

The beast gave him a mean look and started to growl. It crouched down and growled even deeper. Tin Man held up his axe in preparation, and then, the Kalidah leaped at Tin Man, who swung hard at the creature, swiping at its cheek, causing it to fall over with a large fresh scar. It was now flowing with blood. The animal roared and started to writhe around in pain. Tin Man backed away and suddenly, there were now 4 small Kalidah's growling at him. They growled at him and one pounced on him, causing him to drop his axe on the ground. He desperately tried to get it back, but to no avail as the Kalidah on top of him roared, the others all gathered around Tin Man's body and he cursed silently. The Kalidah on top of Tin Man looked at two of the Kalidah's and gave them a certain look. The two looked at each other and almost nodded it seemed, then ran away. The two renaming looked at Tin Man menacingly.

Tin Man then grabbed the Kalidah on top of them and threw it on the other, causing them to fumble on the ground. Tin Man sprang up quickly and searched for his axe on the ground, his eyes darting everywhere for it until he found it next to his foot. He bent down and reached for it, but was pounced on by one of the Kalidah's, he rolled over and kicked at the Kalidah, causing it to fall over. He quickly grabbed his axe and swung at it, and it dodged.

Then, the other Kalidah leaped at Tin Man. Tin Man dropped his axe in surprise but quickly caught it. He then swiped at its head mid-air, beheading it. Its body fell to the ground and its head fell not too far away from it. The other Kalidah looked on with a seemingly shocked and saddened expression. Though that shock and sadness quickly changed to outrage. It growled and roared at Tin Man, then jumped up and tackled Tin Man, growling at him. Tin Man swiped at the Kalidah but the creature stopped this by biting down on Tin Man's axe, Tin Man squirmed the axe inside the Kalidah's mouth, but the Kalidah then bit down harder on the axe, breaking off the top of it.

Tin Man kneed the Kalidah and it let go of the axe. Tin Man kicked the Kalidah off and looked down at his axe, shocked to see the Kalidah's teeth were so strong and sharp that it can break his own axe. Tin Man turned the axe around, as the tip was now useless. He then ran up to the Kalidah and hit it hard in the gut with the end of it, causing it to fall over. It whimpered and then got up, panting hard, exhausted. It looked at Tin Man, then its fallen friends, and gave a sad look. It gave a look as if admitting defeat for now, and ran off. Tin Man sighed and walked over to the large Kalidah, who appeared to have still been bleeding. He shook his head and walked away to get back to his friends.

Meanwhile, the three had finally come across the zipline Tin Man told them about earlier.

"Alright... who wants to go first?" Finley asked, looking at the zipline above the river.

"I suppose I will, unless one of you two wanna go."

They shook their heads and Dorothy nodded. She then walked to the zipline and bent down to grab the bars. She lifted herself off the ground and gave herself a push, and the zipline glided across the river until she made her way over to the other side of the Yellow Brick Road. She gave the zipline a hard push and it made its way back to the other two.

Finley looked at Bryson. "I'll go next. If it's okay with you." Finley said.

"Sure... I'm afraid of heights... so... that's fine with me." Bryson replied.

Well, he was afraid of a lot things to be honest, but heights were definitely up there for him. So this was pretty terrifying to him.

But soon, things got much more terrifying. As Finley grabbed on to the bars, he glided across the river, but then, they heard the familiar roars of Kalidah's.

Bryson slowly turned around and saw the two small Kalidah's. He jumped in shock and fell over, quickly getting up.

Finley looked over and yelped, he was so shocked he lost his grisp on the bars, but quickly grasped on to them again, but this caused the zipline to stop gliding, and he was now stuck.

They all gave concerned, worried looks. The Kalidah's slowly made there ways over to Bryson.

Finley looked over tried his best to push himself to glide over, but failed. If his wings weren't damaged, this would be no problem. But unfortunately, this was not the case. But then, Finley grabbed the rope of the zipline and pushed the bars hard over to Bryson.

Finley then started to climb along the rope rapidly until he reached the other side, leaping to it. Finley and Dorothy looked on at Bryson, waiting for him to cross.

But he couldn't do it.

He was too scared.

He looked down and winced at how high up he was. If he got on these bars, he would lose it. He looked over at the Kalidah's. They growled.

"Bryson! You need to cross now!" Finley urged.

"Oh man..." Bryson muttered.

He shook his head and looked behind him.

"I can't!" He replied.

"What do you mean?!" Finley replied.

"I mean.. I can't! I'm too scared..." Bryson admitted.

"You can do it! Come on! It's either this or get mauled by vicious beasts!" Finley urged.

"Bryson, you can do this!" Dorothy assured.

Bryson closed his eyes and sighed. The Kalidah's were slowly crawling up to him. He gasped and turned back around, grasped onto the bars and quickly pushed himself off and started to glide. He had his eyes shut, but then opened him. And.. it felt so good. Like he was flying. And the beautiful sunshine...

It made him feel... alive.

He looked around and admired the beauty of Oz as he glided to the other side, it wouldn't last long but it felt so good. But then, the line suddenly snapped. Bryson opened his eyes and turned around, gasping at what he saw. The Kalidah's had bitten it off.

His two friends gasped and he was now swinging from it like a vine, the line glided to the edge the Kalidah's were on and Bryson gasped, quickly mustering up his feet to push off the ledge, swinging from the rope line and leaping up to the edge his friends were on, falling on the Yellow Brick Road and being lifted up by his friends.

"Are you alright?!" Dorothy asked worriedly.

Bryson panted, out of breath, and nodded. "Yeah, I'm alright..."

Bryson was trying to wrap his head around the events that just occurred, his heart was pounding rapidly.

The Kalidah's roared at the three and turned around, slowly running away from them.

The three stayed there for a while to catch their breath, and then Tin Man came running in to view. He waved at the three and ran up to the zipline, but then noticed it was broken.

"What happened!?" He yelled over to them.

"One word. One really, really, bad word: Kalidah's!" Finley yelled back.

Tin Man shook his head and knelled down. He grabbed the line and climbed down half of it, then pushed himself off the ledge and swung like Bryson did and jumped down to the three, then stood up. "Let's go. We should be at Emerald City in just a few minutes."
