KathDMD - You and I did have a discussion about the Kerza/Malva dynamic. Believe me when I say there is more to the story.

cubbieBlueMako - No one is safe from Haggar's magic. Well, except maybe Kerza, but he's not a Voltron Pilot. :P

Episode 118 : "Something in the Water"

Pidge, Daniel and Kerza ran through the halls on their way to Med. As they ran in, Keith took a long sip of water from the glass.

"Keith no!" Pidge shouted. Keith dropped the glass, and without warning, fell to the floor. Daniel ran to him.

"Keith!" he shouted. "Keith, wake up!" He felt for a pulse, and heard him breathing. "He's alive, but he's out cold." They all picked him up and helped him onto a nearby bed.

"What happened?" Allura said, struggling to get up.

"It's the water, Allura," Pidge said. "There's something in the water." He ran to the sink and filled a small container. "I'm going to have to take this up to the lab to analyze it. But I have a hunch that Haggar has something to do with it."

"That slimy witch," Daniel said. "Don't worry, Allura. We'll figure this out."

"Thank you," she said. She then gasped. "The baby…..and Alexander….if the water is tainted…."

"I'll stop it," Daniel said, running from the room.

"If the water is tainted," she said, "the formula is tainted."

"We need to fix this problem quick before the entire castle starves to death," Pidge said. "Oh no, we need to get the word out. If anyone else drinks the water, they'll get sick too!" He and Kerza ran from the room. She looked over at Keith.

"Oh, Keith…" she said as she passed out from exhaustion.

A robeast coffin approached the countryside and landed in an open field. It opened, and a slimy sludge seeped out of it, standing tall and taking a humanoid form. It began to walk towards the city, covering everything in its path with a thick layer of sludge.

That's it, my creation….cover the entire area with mud and sludge! Destroy every living thing in your path! Crush the people and their will! Then, lay waste to the castle of Lions, and everyone in it!

Haggar's cackling could be heard echoing throughout the area as the monster continued on its destructive path.

Pidge came into the lab with Kerza, Daniel showing up a moment later.

"I made sure the kids didn't drink the water," Daniel said, "but I've already seen several of the guards passed out in the halls. I let Dr Ecron know."

"I'm getting calls from all over the castle," Pidge said. "Reports of people getting sick and fainting after drinking the water. I have to analyze it and find out what's causing the condition." The alarms started going off. "Oh no." he ran to a nearby panel and keyed in a few commands, then brought up a holo-monitor. He expanded it and turned it to show Daniel and Kerza. "The scanners are picking up a huge monster on its way to the city. It's already destroyed the countryside, and is headed in the direction of the castle."

"I'll grab the others and get to the lions," Daniel said.

"Daniel, be careful!" Pidge shouted as Daniel ran out the door. "We don't know what this thing is, or what its capable of!" Daniel ran to the control room, meeting up with Marina, Vince, Hunk and Larmina.

"Guys, there's some sort of monster attacking the countryside, and it's headed for the city," he said. "We have to stop it."

"What is it?" Vince asked.

"It looks like a ball of….sludge," Daniel said.

"Ew," Larmina replied, making a face. "Maybe Blue's water cannon can help clean things up."

"Good idea, Larmina," Daniel said. "Let's get to the lions!" They ran to their chutes as the center console rose into the air. They grabbed the swings and rode them to the shuttles, taking them to the lions. Upon locking into the cockpits, they each gripped the yokes, their voltcoms lighting up, and the engines of the lions fired, bringing them to life. That is, all except for Blue Lion.

"What's going on?" Larmina asked. "Blue isn't responding!"

"What's it doing?" Daniel asked.

"Absolutely nothing," she replied, yanking controls and pushing buttons. "It's as if I have no power at all. I'm submerged in water, Blue's power source, but the power cells aren't charging….not even a spark!"

"Submerged in water…." Daniel said softly to himself. His eyes widened. "Larmina, stay put! We're on the way!"

"Do you know something I don't?" she asked angrily.

"Larmina," he said, "the lake has been contaminated. The entire supply of drinking water for the castle was compromised. Whatever is in the water has infected the lake….and may have infected the lion!"

"Great," she said, exasperated.

"We need to get Blue out of the lake and get it to fresh water somehow," Daniel said.

"What about the robeast?" Marina asked.

"Marina," he said, "you and Hunk go check it out. If you think you know a way to stop it, by all means try. But we have to know if it has any weaknesses. Be careful." Marina nodded.

"Right," she replied. "Let's roll, Hunk." Red and Yellow flew off towards the city.

"Right behind ya, 'rina," he replied.

"Vince, come with me to the lake," he said.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because I think whatever tainted the water may be haggarium based," Daniel replied telepathically. "If it is, I'll need your help to neutralize it." Black and Green headed towards Lake Arus.

The robeast approached a building and took a mighty swing. Like a wrecking ball, its globbed fist smashed the building, sending debris and sledge toppling to the ground. The people ran in terror as the beast let out a mighty roar before smashing more buildings.

"Ugh," Marina said, "this thing is even uglier in person."

"Maybe that'll make it easier to smash?" Hunk asked. Marina shrugged. The lions flew in, firing at it with their weapons.

"Let's see if we can get its attention," Marina said. "Ingitinng Lion Torch!" Red fired pure flames at the robeast, and though the flames did little to stop it, it did turn to confront them.

"Yep, he sees us," Hunk said. "Now what?"

"I'll lead him up the hill," she said. "See if you can grab some boulders from the quarry. Maybe we can break it up."

"Heavy lifting," Hunk said. "Sound right to me." Yellow took off for the nearby quarry.

"Now it's time to see how fast Red can move," she said to herself. She continued to fire on the robeast, and it followed her. She was able to expertly dodge its swings, backing off to lead the beast up the hill. Hunk had Yellow wrap its tail around a boulder, and dragged it into the air with him. As the beast went to swat Red again, Yellow came screaming in.

"Eat this, you giant mudpie!" Hunk shouted. Yellow spun around, flinging the boulder at the robeast. It hit the robeast, breaking it up, and turning it into a mudslide that rolled down the hill, finally coming to a rest at the bottom like a pile of goo.

"We did it!" Marina said, red and yellow landing nearby. "We stopped it!" Suddenly, the globules began to pull together, and a hand rose out of the goop and grabbed Red. Then another wrapped around yellow. The robeast stood tall, holding the lions firmly in its grasp."

"I don't think we got it," Hunk replied. The breast let out a mighty roar, squeezing the lions tightly, Marina and Hunk fighting the controls and fighting for their lives.

To be continued…
