I'M SO SORRY, THIS IS THE SHORTEST CHAPTER I'VE HAD IN ALONG TIME.
AGAIN... I will REPEAT I know nothing about Paris.
Chapter 52
"Callie.. That's the same man from the restaurant. He's... watching us." She whispered, grabbing on tight to her wife's sides.
"Where at Arizona?" Callie turned back around and looked, keeping a hold on her wife.
"No Calliope, don't turn around." Arizona whispered turning her wife back around. "If he knows we see him, he may come this way." Nervously pulling at the side of her wife's shirt. "What should we do?"she asked, feeling her wife brush her hair blonde out of her face. "He makes me very uncomfortable, Callie. He told me that he would get me to change my mind about that drink before the nights over."
"He told you that?" Callie asked, feeling her wife's body slightly tremble.
"Yeah."
Sighing, "I don't really know what we should do honey. Maybe you're thinking too much into it. It could just be by chance he's here too." Callie shrugged.
"Callie. He's starring us down." The blonde said, never taking her eyes off the man. "Watch." She said, taking her wife's hand and walking to the other side of the bridge. The man would have to move a few feet if he wanted to keep an eye on them. "Do you see a man wearing a black shirt come into view?" She asked, turning Callie around so she could look over her shoulder to see him.
"I'm not seeing anyone out of the ordinary babe." Callie said, looking over her wife's shoulder. "I see two different guys wearing black shirts."
"Callie... I'm scared. I have a bad feeling about this."
Hearing a hint of fear in her wife's voice. "Hey, I'm right here. I'm not going to let anything happen to you. Okay?" She said, grabbing the blondes hands.
"What do we do? I just want to go back to our room." Wrapping her arms around her wife's waist and burying her face in her neck.
"I don't know, honey." Callie said, rubbing her back. "I don't want to walk back to the hotel incase you are right and he is following us, but we can't stay here either."
"Isn't there someone we can call?" She raised her head and asked. "Like, should we let someone know that we feel like we're being followed?"
"Who babe? We don't know anyone over here."
"I don't know, but don't you think that if something were to happen it would help knowing we told someone what was going on?"
"Yeah.. I guess you're right. But who do we call? I guess we could call Mark or Teddy?" Callie suggested.
"No, I don't want to call Teddy, I don't want her to worry. She's got enough on her plate with us away from work. What about your dad. He would know what we should do.. Wouldn't he?" She asked, raising her head.
"I.. I don't know, maybe?" Callie said, switching places with her wife again. "Do you see him still?" She asked, watching Arizona's eyes scan the crowd. "I don't want to call him if we don't know for sure." She said, looking around to see where they should walk to next to see if he follows.
"Yeah, I see him. He's leaning against a lamp post over there on my left." She whispered.
"Okay, come with me. Let me buy us some cocoa over there." The pointed at a vendor down the street next to a small park. "And we'll see if he follows. If he does we'll call my dad. Kay?"
Nodding her head, Arizona held tight onto her wife's hand as they walked off the bridge and down the street to buy some hot chocolate. After making their purchase, Callie lead her to the little park area in the middle of the city and stood by the fountain there. Sipping her drink Arizona scanned the area after a few minutes, her eyes landing on the familiar man over by the stand they were just at. "He's here, Callie." She said, stepping closer in front of her wife. "He's buying a drink where we just bought ours."
"Okay. Keep calm, sweetie." The brunette said, rubbing her wife's arm to sooth her. She could tell how tense the blonde was getting. "Just keep an eye open, watch where he goes." She said, sipping her coffee. "We need to act like we're not paying attention to him though, okay?" She said, eliciting a nod from her wife. "Why are you so scared? You are trembling babe."
"I just can't get the worse case scenario out of my head. I just keep thinking about all the people that go missing when they're in foreign countries. I know it's stupid, but I can't help it." She sighed.
"It's not stupid." She said, kissing the blondes forehead. "He still around?"
"Yep." She said, sipping her cocoa. "I'm not just worried about myself either, Callie. I'm worried he would try something with you too. He was drunk, if not, he was well on his way."
"I'm not letting go of you. Kay?" She said, throwing her cup in the trash beside of them and grabbing her wife's hand. "I'll call my dad." Pulling out her phone, she dialed her fathers number. On the fourth ring she knew he wouldn't pick up, if he was available he would always answer on the first or second ring. Just as she was about to hit the red bottom to end the call she heart a faint 'hello' on the other end of the line.
"Dad?" Callie said, bringing the phone to her ear. "Did I wake you? What time is it there?" She asked, looking at her watch.
"Mija." She heard him say. Hearing some whispers and shuffling going on through the phone. "No no. You didn't wake me. It's almost one in the afternoon here. How is the honeymoon? Lovely I suppose?" Carlos asked.
"Yeah, it's been great daddy, thank you."
"Have you seen the Eiffel tower yet? Or the Arc De Triomphe?" He asked her. "Oh you have to visit The Louvre Museum and see the Mona Lisa.
"Umm.. Not exactly. Dad. We've not had time yet."
"What have you seen so far?" He asked.
"Our hotel's amazing. Our suite is spectacular and it has a great balcony view of Paris."
"Oh.." He paused. "Ohhh.." Carlos said, sensing that the couple hadn't left the room to explore yet.
"Yeah." She laughed, playing with the ring on her wife's hand as the two stood there near the water fountain. Hearing more whispering and a giggle through the line. "This is the first time we've been out of the room." She couldn't believe she just told her father that.
"Calliope.." Arizona scolded in a whisper.
Shrugging at her wife, "Am I interrupting anything dad?" She asked when she heard her fathers whisperer and her mothers flirty laughter on the other end of the line causing the brunettes eyes to widened.
"What?" Arizona whispered, seeing her wife's eyes go wide with shock, or maybe disgust. She wasn't sure.
"I think my parents were in the middle of doing the.. deed." Callie whispered to her wife, holding her hand over the speaker of her phone.
"No, Mija. I'm just.. Exercising." He said.
Arizona giggled, causing Callie to give her a hateful look. "That's disgusting."
"No it's not." The blonde chuckled, her eyes keeping watch every so often on the man unnoticeably.
"I should be the last person you're calling while on your honey moon. Is something wrong?" Her dad asked.
"No nothing's wrong per say... But there is some man following us daddy and we don't really know what to do." Callie told him. Her and Arizona were trying their best to look like a normal couple going about their business without having the man suspect that they're in to him.
"Why do you think that?" Carlos said, his tone more serious.
"Well, this guy bumped into Arizona at the restaurant we were at and he touched her. Then he tried to buy her a drink and she refused. And then a little while later he sent her a drink to our table so we just left. And every place we've went to after that we've saw him, but he's keeping his distance. It's really making us uncomfortable and I don't know how to lose him so we can get back to the hotel safely."
"How did he touch her Mija?"
"He brushed against her chest with his arm. And then he turned around and did it again with his hand. She said he smelled like alcohol. Maybe he's just drunk and didn't mean too, but he's really scaring her. He told her that he would change her mind before the day's out."
"Is he still there now?" He asked.
Moving the phone away from her mouth she asked her wife if he was still hanging around. "Yeah, he's still here." She said into the phone after getting a nod from the blonde.
"Okay, have you been taking pictures of anything today?"
"No."
"Okay. Here's what I want you to do. Take some pictures with your or Arizona's phone, just like any normal tourists would. Take some photos of the two of you together, some of the view behind you or what not. Then take a few pictures of Arizona alone and then some of you alone. When she takes your picture, make sure the man is in the background. Tell her to take several pictures. Then email them to me."
"Daddy? What are you going to do?"
"Don't worry honey, I'm just going to run a scan of him and see who he is and if he's wanted for anything. Then we can see what we're dealing with, someone like that could have a criminal past."
"But how do we got back home? To our hotel?" She asked her father.
"You have plenty of cash on you?" He asked his daughter.
"You got cash babe?" She asked her, checking in her pocket to see how much money she had on her at the moment.
"Yeah.. Why?" The blonde asked.
Shrugging, "He's asking." She told her wife. "Yeah daddy, we have plenty of cash." She told her father through the phone.
"Okay, good. Grab a cab, have them drive you around the surrounding city, site seeing or something to lose the guy. But Calliope, don't get out of the cab. Just drive around for at least an hour or until you feel comfortable that you've lost him, then get the cab driver to drop you off in front of your hotel."
"Dad, don't you think this is a little extreme?" Callie asked as Arizona came closer to the phone trying to listen to her father-in-law on the phone.
"Mija, do you want to insure your safety?"
"Of course I do." She sighed.
"Sweetheart, I know this is the last thing you want to worry about while on your honeymoon, but you really need to do this."
"This is the last thing I want. Arizona comes first thought." She said, squeezing her wife's hand. "So this is what we'll do."
"Okay, send me the pictures, and call me when you get on the road."
"We will."
"And mija?"
"Yeah dad?"
"I know you're not going to like this, but I'm sending a bodyguard."
"What? Daddy. No."
"Calliope. You still have what? Four five days left on your honeymoon. Do you want to spend it locked up in your hotel room the whole time?" He asked. "Wait.. Don't answer that."He said, causing her to chuckle. "Mija, please let me protect you and my daughter-in-law. He won't be in the way. He'll have his own room. He'll just follow you both around when you go out. I'll make sure he keeps his distance, but not too far. Please?"
"Okay, but dad?"
"Yes?"
"Please don't tell mom, or Arizona's parents. I don't want them to have to worry when there might be no need."
"It stays with me. Now it's edging dark there am I right?"
"Yeah."
"Get those pictures sent before the day lights gone. I'll have my people run it. We'll go from there."
"Thanks dad."
"You're welcome. Stay safe and don't leave each other's side. Bye Mija."
"Bye." Callie said, hanging up the phone.
"What did he say?" Arizona asked her wife, not being able to hear much on Carlos's side of the conversation.
"Well.." Callie said pressing the camera app on her phone and snapping a picture of her beautiful wife. "He said to start off taking some pictures. So smile." She laughed, catching Arizona off guard in several shots.
"Why pictures?" The blonde asked, awkwardly smiling in a few.
"Don't look so uptight baby." Callie laughed. "Come here." She said, pulling her wife closer and snapping several shots together with the Eiffel Tower in the far distance behind them. "He said to act like a tourist, take some pictures and then you're gonna take a several of me with him in the back ground. And then we're going to send them to him." She said, stopping her wife before she began to speak again. "Don't ask, cause I don't want to know what he's got planned. He said, it was just to run a photo scan to see if the guy is wanted anywhere, but I know my dad. He can get anyone to do anything he wants. I don't even know if you can really run a scan with just a picture but if anyone can, it would be him."
"But how does that get us back to the room safely?" She asked, as they took more pictures.
"He wants us to catch a cab and drive around for an hour or so until we feel like we've lost him and then get the driver to drop us off in front of the hotel."
"This is.." She huffed.
"I know sweetie. But this is the only thing that insures our safety. So I'm doing it, plus it means we get to spend all night and day in bed again?" She shrugged, winking at her wife.
"Yeah. You're right. I don't care where we are or what we're doing as long as I'm with you." She said, taking the phone from her wife and snapping a few photos of her. "Turn a little bit to my right and smile." She laughed, taking several shots with the man in the background, zooming in on a few. "I wouldn't mind spending the rest of our time in the room. I've had a magnificent time so far in it." She winked at her wife. "Let's not let this ruin our time. Okay? Odds are its nothing, right?" She asked.
"Right," Callie said, taking her phone the blonde was giving back. "I've had the best time on our honeymoon even if we're to end today. And I definitely think more time in the room can't hurt. Right?" She wiggles her brows.
"Yup." Arizona laughed.
"I don't know how you'll feel about this, but my dad is sending us a bodyguard to watch over us for when we leave the room. He doesn't want us to feel trapped inside. He said he won't hover over us, but he will stick to a respectable distance." She said, placing her hand on her wife's waist. "I.. I'm sorry we have to worry about this." Callie sighed.
"No. Don't say that." She said, wrapping Callie up in a hug. "You're just trying to protect us. We have to do what we have to do. If it means nothing will happen to us, we'll do it. Because I couldn't handle to alternative. Plus it could be nothing, just my imagination running wild. You know me.. I think to much into stuff sometimes." She smiled. "I'm okay with this baby." Arizona said, seeing the aggravation at the situation in her wife's eyes. "Plus I've got a thing or two I'd like to do and for the sake of all these French people, I'd prefer to do it in our room." She said, kissing her caramel cheek. "Should we grab a cab now?" Arizona asked, seeing the it was almost dark. "Lets get outta here. He may be waiting until nightfall to do something."
"Yeah. Lets go sweetie." Taking her wife's hand. "Remind me to send my dad those emails and to call him after we get in the cab." Callie said, as she tried to hail a cab for them.
"Yes, ma'am." Arizona laughed, trying to keep the mood light.
Getting into the cab, Arizona saw the man walking closer as they pulled away from the area. Callie quickly sent the pictures they had took to her father and gave him a quick call to let him know that they were safely in the cab driving around. After over an hour of driving and site seeing from inside the vehicle, the girls gave the cabbie the address of their hotel to be dropped off. Feeling a little better about the situation, Arizona climbed out of the cab then helped her wife out after her.
"Let's hurry and get up to the room." Callie told her closing the door of the car. "It feels like it has been a long day even though we've only been out of the room four hours tops." She shook her head, leading them back to their hotel suite.
"How about we take a long hot bath and just relax?" Arizona asked her wife as they walked into the room.
"Sounds good." Callie said, taking off her jacket and sitting down on the couch. "I need to call my dad and let him know we made it to the room." She said, pulling her phone from her jacket pocket that laid next to her on the sofa. "You okay?" She looked up and asked the blonde.
"I'm fine, Callie. You're the one that looks a little worse for ware right now." She said, walking up to her wife and caressing her face. "What's up babe?"
"This just sucks." She said, taking Arizona's hand from her face and laying a kiss on it before she laced them. "How about you go start the bath while I call my dad real quick?"
Nodding her head, Arizona leaned down to kiss her wife on the top of her brunette hair. "Don't be too long." She said, walking up the stairs to the bedroom loft and into the in-suite bathroom, hearing Callie talking with her dad.
Starting the water, she poured in some bath oils and bubbles before walking back into the bedroom and getting her journal off Callie's nightstand. Arizona figured now would be just as good a time as any to read the journal with her wife, hoping it might take their mind off their outing today. Peaking her head over the loft banister, she saw her wife still on the phone with her father, so she walked back into the bathroom and turned on some soft music before disrobing and sinking her body into the hot water.
