Chapter 56

Walking down the stairs of her home on Friday evening, Callie crossed through the dinning room and went into the kitchen. Exhaustion had took over her body hours ago. Sighing, she took a glass from the wine rack over the island. Pouring herself a glass of red liquid, she walked into the living room to start a fire in the fireplace. Spreading a blanket down in front of the roaring fire, she sat down resting her back against the side of the couch.

Callie and Arizona had been home from their honeymoon for a week now. Both not scheduled to go back to work until Wednesday, but Avery and Teddy had been butting heads with each other since the newlyweds left for their honeymoon unbeknownst to them. Teddy took it upon herself to try to straighten things out with Jackson without getting neither woman involved while they were on their honeymoon and it seemed to work, but that was until the newlyweds stopped by the clinic after returning home Friday morning. They caught the two in a heated argument in front of Arizona's office. Everyone knew anytime the two owners were out of work for any reason Teddy was in control of all things. She was everyone's go to person most times even when Arizona and Callie were at work. And Avery simply needed to get on board with the fact that it wasn't changing. Having to return back to work two days earlier than expected because of the situation only put Callie in a fowl mood, enough to even have her wife pissed off at her for bitching at Avery and Teddy all week.

Downing her wine in front the fire, she resided to the fact that she needed something stronger to wash this week away, so she went back into the kitchen and opened up their margarita maker Cristina gave them as a wedding gift. Making a pitcher of Margaritas, she filled her glass up before placing the pitcher in the freezer to stay cold. Walking back into the living room she retook her place by the fire as she heard their front door open. Hearing Charlie trot across the hard wood floor, he came and laid down by the fire with her. "Hey boy." She said quietly, rubbing her hand down his back and patting his belly. "Did you enjoy your walk." She asked him as he laid his head in her lap. "You're such a good dog aren't you." She patted him, trying to take her mind off everything else.

Arizona had took the dogs for a walk as soon as they got home from work almost two hours ago. The brunette knew her wife was mad at her and wanted some time alone without her whining and complaining like she had all week so she used the dogs needing a walk as an excuse to get away from her for a bit.

"Hi." Arizona said faintly, walking to the closet and putting the dog leashes away.

Looking up as her wife walking through the room with River on her heels, Callie only watched as she left the room. Not really wanting say anything to her blonde wife.

Walking through the house to the kitchen, Arizona heard her wife mumble that she had left her some dinner in the microwave. Knowing immediately Callie knew she was just as upset as she was because she didn't wait on her to have dinner. That was something that they rarely did was have dinner without the other. Arizona was pissed at Callie for adding to the arguing between Avery and Teddy again today. Teddy was only doing what was instructed to her to do while Avery just wanted to take advantage of them being away in a different country by leaving early from work everyday while leaving everything for Teddy to do. After filling up the dogs food and water bowl for their dinner, Arizona reheated her dinner Callie had placed in the microwave. Taking the Mac and Cheese out of the conventional oven she stood at the counter and picked at her food only taking a few bites. Sighing, she poured herself a glass of wine, grabbed her plate of food walked into the living room where her wife sat with her arms wrapped around her knees as Charlie laid beside her sleeping by the fire. Sitting down on the other side of the fire place, Arizona rested her back on the opposite couch as her wife with River by her side. Both women not saying a word at first. The blonde knew she would have to be the first to talk because Callie had pulled back after she yelled at the brunette at work. Callie hadn't said more than five words to her since then and she wouldn't until the blonde came to her.

"Have you calmed yourself down any?" Arizona broke their long silence, picking at the food still in her plate that was now sitting on her lap.

"Working on it." Callie said picking up her mango margarita and taking a small drink, never taking her eyes off the glowing wood. She couldn't look her wife in the eyes when the blonde was mad at her. She hadn't meant to have an outburst like she had earlier in the day but she was tired of the bickering at work. If Avery didn't understand that Teddy was in charge when they were out of the office, then he could pack his shit and leave and she still meant that. He was replaceable.

"Callie.." She sighed.

"You've already made your point perfectly clear in front of everyone. You don't have to say no more." She said, finishing off her margarita before standing from her place by the fire. Walking back into the kitchen, she grabbed the bottle of tequila off the counter and took a gulp before getting her drink pitcher from the freezer and bringing it back in the living room with her.

"That's not fair, Callie."

Scoffing. "Go ahead and do it Arizona, yell at me and get it over with. I know that's what you want." She said, filling her glass back up.

"That's not what I want to do." She said in hurt. "Do you think I want to deal with the tension at work between Teddy and Avery and then come home and fight with you too?" Seeing her wife shrug, "You're the last person I want to fight with. But you had no right taking your anger out on Avery like you did. You were out of line and you know it."

"And you were out of line for yelling at me in front of him and Teddy and you know it." She retaliated.

For the first time all day Arizona started feeling bad about what she did. Callie was right, they were both wrong in the situation and she hadn't really thought about that. Callie for snapping at Avery and Teddy and she for snapping at Callie. "They aren't our friends at work Callie and you're not my wife there either, you're my business partner."

If she was being honest with herself, Arizona's worda stung a little, even though they both agreed from day one that their personal life would stay out of the work And vice versa. "Yeah, like I said, you made that perfectly clear." Callie scoffed, standing from her seat, she didn't want to argue anymore with her wife about this petty nonsense.

"Where are you going?" Arizona asked as her wife walked out of the room.

"I love you, but I'm not doing this with you." Callie said, wiping a tear off her cheek that fell. "I'm going to bed." She said, walking up the stairs. "I'm done with this fucking week and I'm done with Teddy and Jacksons fight that's now turned into our fight."

"Callie." Arizona said, walking to the bottom of the steps. "I love you too, but we should talk about what happened."

"No." Turning around at the top of the stairs. "What more is there to talk about Arizona? I said what I needed to say to Avery and Teddy and you said what you needed to say to me." Callie said. "I'll leave everything in your hands from now on. You can handle everyone's bull shit, because I'm done with it."

"I don't want that." Arizona said, taking a step up the stairs. This was their business, not just hers anymore, Callie had every right to be mad at them for arguing with each other, but she shouldn't have told Arizona she could handle it if she didn't like the way she handled it. "But we should have talked in private before you exploded on him. You told me to handle it and I thought I did. You made the decision to blast Avery the way you did." Arizona shot back. "Not me."

"I'm not sorry for what I said to Avery, Arizona. Yeah, I probably should not have said it in the way I did, but I'm still not sorry for saying it." She yelled, getting angrier but she didn't even know at who. "He works for us, not the other way around. If he can't understand that Teddy is in charge when we're gone he can take his ass elsewhere, I don't give a fuck." The brunette said, taking a step down the stairs. "You're the one." She said pointing at her wife. "...that just told me that they're not our friends at work, so why didn't you set them straight instead of just giving them a smack on the hand and forgetting about it? That's why they both kept bitching at each other all damn week, so forgive me for putting my foot down in my place of business." She said, turning around to walk to her bedroom.

"They have been so good to us.." Arizona said, causing her wife to turn back around. "..this whole year with everything that has happened to you and I. They have been there day in day out. We've been able to take off for anything and not have to worry. I was just cutting them some slack. I wasn't being easy on them because they are our friends. You said it yourself a few days ago we couldn't ask for better workers."

"I did, but if we don't scold them.. they will start taking advantage of us. What do you think would happen if I didn't reprimand Avery today for trying to cut out of work early behind our backs? He'd do it again the next time we were gone because he got away with it the first time. You know he would. So yes, he deserved to be punished for what he did Arizona."

"It was unprofessional, Callie. If they weren't our friends you wouldn't have blown up like that. You would have stayed professional. I don't care if you blow up on them out of the office, but in that building we're all suppose to be professional and no one was today professional including myself. And I'm sorry that I did that to you. But you are the one that put it in my hands to handle and I did, or.. or at least I thought I did until today when I walked in on you screaming at them. Then you go and suspend him from work for a week without even talking to me about it? All that does is put more work on me now. You're pissed because you had to return to work a few days early and you took it out on him." Arizona scolded. She didn't like the fact that they had to return to work earlier than expected but that was life, that's what she signed up for when she opened her own practice.

"He is the whole reason I'm pissed." She growled, wiping the tears that fell from her eye. She hated being this mad because almost every time she was, she cried. "They should act like the fucking adults they are. This isn't high school, this is the real world. And forgive me.." She said placing her hand on her chest. "..for being a selfish bitch for being pissed off because the end of my honeymoon got ruin because of their childish bickering back and forth. How was I supposed to know that two days of peace and quiet was too much to ask for. All I wanted to do is spend my last days of my honeymoon at home with my new wife without having to worry about some sick fuck trying to bother us, so please..." Callie said, her voice breaking "..forgive me for being so damn selfish." She finished, storming off into the bedroom and slamming the bathroom door shut behind her.

"Calliope.." She said in a whisper as her wife retreated from her. Now it all made sense to Arizona. Her wife had been strong for her during the whole stalking ordeal in Paris that she didn't even give it a thought as to how the brunette felt about it. Callie had kept on a brave front for the most part and apparently it was all catching up with her and she wasn't being so brave anymore. Walking back to the living room, Arizona put out the fire that her wife had started and collected their dishes they had and took them into the kitchen. Putting the dogs outside to use the bathroom before bedtime, Arizona took her time and cleaned up the kitchen to give her wife a little space before she went to bed. After getting everything back in order she went out to the patio to get the dogs to come back in. Walking in the back yard she yelled for the dogs, seeing them roaming around down on the beach. "Come on boys." She yelled at them causing them to run towards her. Turning around to walk back in her house she caught a glimpse of Callie standing in their bedroom window looking out into the bay, she could see the lights shinning off her tearstained face. Locking up downstairs, Arizona turned the lights off and headed upstairs to bed with her wife, silently hoping Callie didn't lock the door to the room. Turning the knob to their room she opened the door and saw her wife curled up in bed facing the window. Walking to the bathroom, she quickly changed into her sleep clothes and brushed her teeth. Sighing, when she walked back into their bedroom hearing her wife sniff back the tears. It broke her heart.

"Callie..." Arizona said, walking up to her wife's side of the bed. Taking a few tissues out of the box on the night stand, she sat down on the edge of the bed and wiped the brunettes tears away. No matter what, she couldn't stand to see her wife crying. "Why are you crying honey?" She asked only receiving a shrug from her wife. "I know there is more to this than just Avery and Teddy being at each other's throats. And also more than me yelling at you." She nodded hoping to catch her wife's eye. "I apologize for that, Callie and I'm going to have a meeting with Teddy and Avery first thing Monday morning and let them know that I was wrong for yelling at you. I'm sorry I did that to you in front of them, it was unprofessional of me. It all just got all blown out of proportion today and you are right, Avery needs to be dropped down a peg or two. He needs to realize he is replaceable and so does everyone else in that office, they need to know that they are not irreplaceable. Except you of course." She let out a small laugh, hoping to get some kind of reaction from her wife. "But you should have talked to me before you suspended him, that's something we should discuss together." She said, looking down at her wife's wet face.

Listening to her wife, Callie laid there quietly in their bed. Right now she didn't have anything to talk about with her wife, so she just didn't say a word only watching the rain begin to pour down outside their window as the blonde spoke. She was sorry for blowing up like she had in the office, but she wasn't sorry for what she said to Avery or Teddy.

"I know you said you didn't have anything left to say, but I do. I caught on to what you didn't say a few minutes ago Callie... I know you well." She said, brushing her wife's hair away from her face. "And I believe you've got the strength to do most anything. And every time I'm in your arms, I know I'm somewhere that's safe from harm." She said, running her fingers through brown hair. "Look at me, Calliope," she said as tears still trailed down her wife's face as the brunette rolled into her back. Cupping tanned cheeks when brown eyes met hers. "You don't have to be the strong one all the time. Let me be the one you lean on, ease your mind. It's not you against the world all alone, I'm here by your side."

At Arizona words, Callie's walls came tumbling down tho the ground as she let out a loud sob. Everything that had happened in the past week or so was catching up and she was literally exhausted. "Oh, Calliope.. Baby..." Arizona whispered, grabbing her wife and wrapping the sobbing brunette up in her arms. "Shh..." She said, rocking the brunette. "It's okay, sweetie." She soothed, caressing her hands up and down the Latinas back. "You need to talk to me about how you're feeling Callie. I'm sorry. I feel like it's my fault you held it in, I was just so determined on not letting what happened in Paris get to me that I forgot all about how you would be feeling and I'm sorry." She said, rocking them both.

Rocking back and forth in her lovers arms eased Callie's emotions some and her wife was right. She didn't know how, but Arizona knew that she was holding back her feelings on what happened in Paris to stay strong for the blonde. But in the long run, staying strong for her only made matters worse, in example, her blow up at work this afternoon. "I'm sorry." She cried into her wife's shoulders. "I just couldn't take the bickering any longer. I let my emotions take over and I just got so mad about everything that's happened lately." She said, sniffing. "I'm sorry."

"I know.. I know. I'm sorry too baby. I shouldn't have yelled at you like that. And I think maybe you're right, I should have reprimanded Avery more for pulling his little stunt. And I guess that's why he was still not listening to Teddy even after I talked to him. We just have to discuss how to handle things together from now on, okay? So we can avoid all of this stupid bickering."

"Okay." She whispered, barely audible.

"You also don't have to always be strong for me. You don't have to carry all the weight. I won't break if you're upset too." She said, pulling out of her wife's embrace.

"I know, but I didn't know it was bothering me this bad until we had to get back to work. I just wanted to spend some more time with you without having that worry in the back of my mind." Callie said. Looking up at her wife. "And then all of this at work had been going on it just all pissed me off and I just lost it.. and then.. you.. yelled at me." She said, tears forming in her eyes again. Her wife had never talked to her like that before and it just broke her heart.

"I wanted that too honey. I wasn't happy with going back to work either." She said, taking her wife's hands. "I'm sorry for yelling at you sweetheart. That's the last thing I wanted to do." She kissed her forehead. "But I still don't know why you yelled at Teddy today."

"I don't really know myself." She shrugged. "After I walked down the stairs and heard Avery still running his mouth and saying that he didn't have to listen to Teddy because she didn't sign his paychecks." Callie said, shaking her head. "It just went all through me. Teddy gives her heart and soul to the clinic and she doesn't deserve to be treated how he's been treating her since we've been gone. And when he said that, all I saw was red. And then after yelling and suspending him for a week I caught her smirking at him and it pissed me off even more. I should have talked to you before I did that and I'm sorry. I was just so mad that it just spilled out of my mouth before I could comprehend it really."

"Well we need to call a meeting before work Monday and set everyone straight. This is our business.. our lively hood and if they don't like how we run things and who we put in charge while we're gone, they are more than welcome to hit the road."

"No." Callie said, shaking her head. "I texted Jackson and Teddy when I came in here and I asked them to come to the clinic for a little meeting in the morning. I shouldn't have snapped like that and I need to apologize to them. But I'm also going to make him understand that what Teddy says goes. She is the reason those doors are still open and people need to show her a little more respect... You're more than welcome to come."

"I'd like that, maybe we can stop and have breakfast at our favorite cafe before we go in?" Arizona said, resting her forehead on the brunettes.

"I'd like that." Callie whispered, drying her eyes.

"Lay down." Arizona said, climbing over to her side of the bed. "I want to hold you." She said, sliding under the covers.

"Are you still mad at me?" Callie quietly asked, not moving from her spot.

"No, I'm just.. disappointed I guess." She said, trying to find the right words. "I just wish we would have talked before you suspended him."

"I'm sorry." She said, looking over to her wife whom was propped up on her elbow. "I'll fix it tomorrow."

"I know, and I know you can't always control that fiery Latin temper." She let out a small laugh. "Come here, baby." She said holding her arms out for her wife.

Walking into the clinic the next morning after the newlyweds shared breakfast at their favorite dinner, Callie went into Arizona's office where Avery and Teddy were seated waiting for their bosses.

"Dr. Torres, I..." Avery said, seeing the owners walk through the door, but was quickly stopped when Callie held up her hand for him to stop. She hadn't changed her last name for work, she and Arizona thought it would be best to keep her last name at the office, because she was a leading pediatric surgeon and her name was well known throughout the nation.

"Don't." Callie said, sitting down in Arizona's desk chair as her wife stayed in the back of the room. "Avery." She said, taking a deep breath. "Teddy.. I want to apologize for my behavior yesterday. I had something going on in my personal life that was bothering me." She said looking up at her wife and giving her a small smile and getting one in return. "I let it get to me all week and especially yesterday, and took it out on you two. So I want to apologize to both of you for yelling like I did. I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I understand." Teddy said while Avery just sat quietly. "I didn't mean to upset you."

"With that being said.. Avery you started working for Dr. Robbins before I bought into this practice. But I bought in, that means I have a say in what you do too. If Arizona or myself say Teddy's in charge. I mean Teddy's in charge. It doesn't mean you can galavant around here and do as you please and leave whenever you feel like it."

"I know.." Was his reply.

"Why did you leave early Jackson? Even when Teddy told you not to." Arizona asked, walking up to her desk to face thm.

"I have no excuse." He shrugged his shoulders. "When the cats away the mouse will play, I guess." He said.

"What were you thinking Avery?" Callie asked. "What in the world makes you think that it's okay to leave in the middle of your shift? To leave Teddy with all of those patients and then throw a fit on her like that when she tried to talk to you? Teddy told you not to leave, but you did it anyway." She said, rubbing her forehead. "I.. I don't know what we're doing wrong Avery. Maybe Arizona and I are too nice as employers."

"That's not it Dr Torres. You're great employers and I speak for myself, Teddy and the rest of our coworkers.. we couldn't ask for better people to work for. I took advantage of you being gone and I just wanted to have a little fun, I'm sorry." Avery told them.

"This is my wife's and my practice and we manage to keep our personal disagreements out of the work place and vice versa. But what you did, turned Dr. Robbins and my disagreement at work into a personal disagreement at home. And I will not have it any more. I don't understand it Avery. What makes you think just because we're out of town you can do what you want? You work for us, not the other way around."

"I know." He whispered, he wasn't used to getting in trouble.

"Why didn't you listen to Teddy, Avery?" Arizona asked, leaning on the side of her desk. "How many times do we have to reiterate that what Teddy says, goes?"

"She left early Monday." He pointed out. "So I wanted to leave too. I thought if she can. I can."

"So are you tattling?" Callie asked.

"Well.. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.." He shrugged looking at Teddy.

"Avery, enough." Arizona glared. "You are in here because of your actions, don't try to blame what you did on anyone else do you understand me?"

"Yes, Dr. Robbins." He said, looking down at his hands.

"And just because Teddy does something doesn't give you the right. Am I making myself clear?" She asked him.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Teddy.." Arizona said, giving her the go ahead to address Jackson.

"I left early because I had a doctors appointment. I wasn't skipping out on work for the hell of it, Avery. Hell I'm here sometimes past closing when I don't have to be." She shot back. "I went to an appointment that both Arizona and Callie were aware of, I don't have to answer to you about anything I do. I answer to them... You.. you act like I enjoy this power I'm in. It's not a fun job Avery, do you think I like being boss when they're away? If I did, I'd have my own business. I hate telling people what to do, but someone had to step up and do it. I won't sit around here and let you put all your work on me and take advantage on this business because you want to go have fun. This building is special to me, this practice is something I hold dear to my heart and I'll be damned if I'm going to do your job.. that you get paid to do while your out having your fun."

"I'm sorry. I have no excuse as to what I did. And I'm sorry I didn't listen to Teddy." He said, looking at the newlyweds. "And I'm sorry for arguing all week with Teddy. I can't take anything I did back, but the thing I'm most sorry for is making you both feel like you had to come back from your honeymoon early."

Looking up at her wife, seeing the blonde nod. "We accept your apologies, but that doesn't excuse your actions Avery. Dr. Robbins and myself talked this morning and we are not lifting your suspension. And we are also docking your pay for the hours you left."

"Yes, ma'am." He nodded.

"Before either of you leave, I would like to apologize for my actions also." Arizona spoke up, standing from the desk. "Everyone here was out of line and unprofessional yesterday, including myself. I yelled at Dr. Torres and I shouldn't have and I want to apologize to her for yelling."

"Apology accepted." Callie said, taking her wife's hand.

"I'm sorry too." Teddy said, standing from her seat as does Avery.

"Are we in an understanding now?" Arizona asked.

"Yeah."

"Yep."

"Okay, I'll see you next Monday, Dr. Avery." Callie said as he turned to leave. "I meant what I said, Jackson. If you don't like what I or Arizona say. You can leave and not look back."

"I'll see you next Monday. Have a good weekend." He said exiting the door.

"Are... uhh.. are you alright Cal?" Teddy asked after Avery was out of the office.

Walking around the desk, Callie sat on the edge of the wood. Looking up at her wife. "She's okay, Teds." Arizona walked up to her wife and cupped the back of her neck. "She's okay." She said, kissing her wife's temple.

"Okay.. that's good."

"Teddy?"

"Yeah Cal?"

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay, I shouldn't have laughed at Avery when you suspended them. I'm sorry."

"See you tonight?" Arizona asked, they were all suppose to get together with their friends this evening at joes and talk about their adventurous honeymoon.

"You betcha." Teddy turned and exited the door.

"Sheesh." Callie breathed taking a deep breath.

"Yeah."

"We worked pretty well together just now."

"We did." She said, kissing her wife's cheek. "You okay, Calliope?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. she smiled. "That was tough. I wanted to reach across the desk and smack Avery on the back of the head." She laughed. "And you expect me to want to have kids when I can't even handle a situation at work."

"I think you handled it perfect today." Arizona said stepping in between her wife's legs. "And.. I think you'd be a great mom." She smiled, imagining how Callie would be with their baby.

"Yeah, right." She scoffed. "I can't hold my temper in, what makes you think I could keep it reigned with a screaming baby or a toddler? I think yesterday just proved why we shouldn't even think about it for a while."

Feeling her heart drop just a bit at Callie's statement, Arizona was hoping her wife would change her mind about having a baby once they got home but that didn't look like it was happening anytime soon. "Yesterday doesn't prove anything, except you c.." She said as Teddy busted through the door.

"Teddy?"

"We need you both out front. There is a pregnant woman laying on the street by the door, she's in labor." Jumping from her seat, the women rushed out of the back office just as Jackson was carrying the woman into the clinic.

"Take her in room one." Callie pointed. "Glove up." She told her wife before walking into the room with Jackson and the pregnant lady.

"Are we prepared for a newborn?" Arizona asked, hearing the screams of the laboring mom as they both dawned their surgical gloves.

"We may have to be." She whispered by the door.

"It hurts." The women whined, grabbing her stomach.

"Jackson." Callie nodded towards the door for him to leave.

"Ma'am? My name is Dr. Torres and this is my wife Dr. Robbins. Can you tell me your name?"

"Mel.. Melinda." She breathed through the pain.

"Okay Melinda, can you tell me how far along you are?" Callie asked as she felt the woman's stomach.

"Thirty-eight weeks. It's too early.. It's too early for her to come." She cried.

"So you're having a girl?" Arizona asked, trying to calm the woman down as she helped her wife change Melinda into a gown.

Nodding, "You,, said you two are married?"

"Yes, we are." Arizona smiled. She wasn't one to tell people about her personal life, but right now she needed to distract the woman and she would almost tell her everything. "Got lucky didn't I?"

"She's very pretty."

"Okay Melinda, I'm going to check you and see how far along you are okay?" Callie asked after she draped the woman.

"That she is." Arizona agreed. "Mrs Robbins is picture perfect."

"I thought her name was Torres." Melinda breathed through her pain.

"Torres is her maiden name." She winked at her wife. "So Melinda. Have you thought of a name yet?" Arizona asked, seeing the look on her wife's face.

"My husband and I.." She breathed. "Have talked about naming her Starr."

"Oh, that's a beautiful name. Is their something special behind the name?" The blonde asked, trying to keep the woman's mind clear.

"Brad and I.. we love sitting outside at night trying to find constellations."

"Oh, my wife and I love laying outside at night under the stars."

"Dr. Robbins." Callie said, looking up from between the woman's legs. "Can you get me some warm blankets? We're going to have a baby in just a few minutes.

"Sure thing, Dr. Torres." She said, walking out of the room.

"Oh wait..." Callie said as Arizona closed the door. "I'll be right back Melinda."

Exiting the room, Callie stopped her wife, "Arizona."

"What's wrong Callie?" She asked seeing her wife's hesitation on her face.

"The baby's breached. She needs a c-section now."

"I'll call an ambulance, we need to get to the hospital." She said, walking into the nurses office.

"No, babe. There isn't time. We have to get her upstairs now."

"Callie... can you do this?"

"No, but we can do this. I'm going to need your help. I can feel the babies legs, we have to hurry. I'm going upstairs with Teddy." She glared at the woman. "We'll get things ready. You and Avery bring her up."

"Okay, we'll be right up... Avery."

"I got it." He said, going into the room, Arizona on his heels.

"Melinda." She said, walking up to the bed. "I got some good news and some bad news." She smiled. "We should have a baby in the next little bit."

"The.. Bad news?"

"The baby is breached, but Dr. Torres is scrubbing in as we speak to do a c-section, we need to get the baby out as soon as possible before she goes further into your birth canal." She said, seeing the look of panic in the new mothers eyes. "Everything's going to be okay, Dr. Torres is a terrific baby doctor, okay." She said seeing the women nod. "Is there someone we can call?" She asked, helping Jackson wheel the bed out of the room and down the corridors to the elevator.

"My.. My husband. He should be coming home from work soon. He's number is in my phone.. Its in my purse." She said as they got into the elevated Cart.

"I'll have Dr. Avery call as soon as we get you in the OR okay, but we won't have time to wait on him." Arizona said as they arrived on the second floor. Pushing her down to the OR, she saw Callie scrubbed in and ready for them.

"Teddy, you stay up at the top of the bed with her, keep her calm and still." Callie said, after they got Melinda on the table and numbed up. "Arizona. I'll need you with me to help, and be ready for the baby."

"Okay."

"Melinda.. can you feel this?" Callie asked, poking her carefully with her scalpel.

"Feel what?"

Nodding at her wife, Callie began the c-section as her wife assisted. "Jackson, I want you to call the hospital, and let them know we'll be sending Melinda and Starr over after we get them stable. Talk to chief Webber, have him send an ambulance to pick them up."

"Is.. is something else wrong?" Melinda asked, hearing Callie tell another doctor that she would be going to the hospital afterward.

"No, no everything looks just fine, Melinda. Right Dr. Robbins?" Callie asked.

"Yes, everything looks perfect, Melinda, I can see her." She said as her wife wiggled the baby free from her mothers womb. "It's just that we're not set up to handle this type of situation. We're just an outpatient ward is all." She said, taking the baby from her wife and wrapping it up in a blanket, seeing the baby look a little blue. "That's a lot of blood, Calliope." Arizona voiced her concern. She had seen a number of births in her time, but not up close and personal like this.

"It's not uncommon." She whispered to her wife. "It's a beautiful girl, Melinda." Callie said, as Arizona turned from them and massaged the babies chest.

"Where is she." The new mom looked around. "Why isn't she crying." She panicked.

"She's not breathing so well, but Dr Robbins is working on her okay?" Teddy said, as Callie began to stitch Melinda back up. "But don't you worry, Dr Robbins is the best Peds doctor around. If you have to have anyone working on your baby it would be Dr Torres or Dr. Robbins. And you're lucky enough to have both."

"Come on, baby, come on." Arizona said, cleaning the baby girls mouth and nose out. "Breathe baby.." She said rubbing the infants chest as her wife and Best friend looked on.

This was the first time that Callie could recall ever seeing her wife hold a baby. Wiping her wet face with her sleeve, Callie looked up to the bed at Teddy and Melinda. "How's it going over there Dr. Robbins?" She asked her wife just as a loud cry sounded through the room.

"We have an upset little girl." She smiled, wrapping the baby up snugly in the warm blanket. "I think she's looking for her mommy, aren't you princess." She cooed walking up to Melinda.

"Melinda?" Jackson said, poking his head back in the OR room. "I have someone here who wants to see you two." He smiled, opening the door further for her husband to enter. Luckily for the woman, when he went to call her husband he was just around the block in his car on his way home to his pregnant wife. "Dr. Torres, there is an ambulance downstairs when you're ready."

"Thank you, Dr. Avery."

"Honey?" Melinda said, seeing Brad walk up to the bed.

"Oh, babe. I'm so sorry." He said, taking the seat Teddy offered him.

"She's here Brad." Melinda whispered with tears in her eyes, looking over at her baby as Arizona handed the newborn to the father.

"We'll give you a few minutes." Callie said, finishing up with Melinda and walking out of the room with the rest of the Doctors.

"That was scary." Teddy breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yeah." Arizona agreed.

"You all were great. Thanks for sticking around." Callie said to Jackson and Teddy.

"You're welcome, I'm going to go down stairs and let the EMT's know it will still be a few more minutes." Teddy said before disappearing down the hall.

"Good job today Avery. We couldn't do it without you." Callie told the younger man.

"Thanks, I'm just gonna be on my way." He said pointing towards the elevators.

"You did good in there, babe." Arizona said, hugging her wife.

"You did too." Callie said, embracing her back. "I don't think I've ever seen you hold a baby until today. And I have to say, you looked beautiful..." She said as Brad poked his head out of the doors.

"Doctors?"

"Everything all right Brad?" Callie asked.

"Yes, Melinda was just asking for you both."

Walking back into the OR where they left Melinda to rest, they walked up beside the bed. "Dr Torres, Dr. Robbins.. my husband and I would like to introduce you to our little girl." She smiled at them as Brad showed off his daughters face. "Robbin Starr."

"What... what happened to Starr?" Arizona asked shocked.

"Well, I thought she needed a much stronger name. Starr is more of a middle name don't you think? Brad and I agreed that Robbin was a good strong name. You saved us.. both of you. And we would like to name her after our heroes."

"Wow, we're so honored, Callie's smile widened, taking Robbin out of Brads arms. "Hi, Robbin. Welcome to the world baby girl." She cooed to the baby as her wife looked on with tears in her eyes, wishing it was their little girl in her wife's arms.
