animebookchic - You know "it can't possibly get any worse" is a staple for scenes where things get worse. (LOL) But anyone who's seen the original Voltron Force episode "Five Forged" can foreshadow much of this. In the original, Vince was kept in the dark in much the same way, being told he wasn't worthy. Christiane was given the ultimate clue and advice from Kovinx...but is she taking it?
Author's Note - Without my muse, I am nothing.

Episode 121 : "The Blacksmith's Heart – Part III"
Two Krelshi flew into the room and began attacking the Air Team. They tried their best to avoid and respond to the attacks, but were limited in movement due to the fact their hands were immobilized by the platforms, connected by short cables.
"What's going on?" Jenny asked.
"I'll tell you what's going on!" Dixie shouted, fending off a swing from one of the Krelshi. "Hunter led us into another trap!"
"It's another test," Ken said, "but I don't know what it is or why."
"We need to find a way out," Jenny said, "or a way to stop these things."
"They're too big and powerful," Wolo said. He tried to fend off one while Rocky tried to fend off another, and the cables wound up pulling on each other, pulling them back into place. "And we can't maneuver."
"Maybe we need to work together?" Ken asked.
"We need to figure it out soon," Jenny said.
"Or we'll be Krelshi food," Rocky added.
"Christiane!" Jeff shouted. "Stop!" Kovinx's words echoed in her mind as she ran. The remaining Krelshi in hot pursuit.
"I believe," she muttered. "I BELIEVE!" She ran through the room of circuits, the Krelshi slashing through the openings. She entered the room with the death traps. Her voltcom glowed with power, and waving her arm, blocks pulled from the walls, stopping the traps as she ran, moving into place kinetically. The Krelshi destroyed everything in their path as they followed her. The pillars that had been destroyed started to come to life, but she crossed her arms and spread them apart quickly as she ran, and the pillars broke from place and slammed on either side of the room, destroying them. She ran into the room with the robots, and a single one came at her. She reached out and grasped its head. An electrical surge flowed between them, the robot's head exploding, the rest of it falling lifelessly to the floor. She ran through the door, the Krelshi not far behind, and spotted Jenny and the others.
"Sergeant Aki," Jenny shouted as she turned to see who enetered the room. What are you doing here? Be careful! The Krelshi are attacking!"
"I know," she replied. "And I believe in Voltron." She ran to the remaining pillar and put her hand on it.
"Sergeant, no!" Dixie shouted. Christiane's hand locked into place. The Krelshi were about to pounce on them all, but the room instead started to shake. The Krelshi swirled above them in the room.
"What's happening?" Jenny asked.
"I don't know!" Ken shouted. Within moments, the mass swirling above them descended slowly, now taking on a humanoid form. When it landed, it appeared to be a tall, well-built elderly man, wearing workman's attire. The team watched as his form solidified, and the traps that held their hands released. They pulled their hands away, rubbing them from chaffing against the metal trap. They walked up to the man, curious looks on their faces.
"You were always worthy," the man said, looking at Christiane.
"All I needed to do was believe it," Christiane replied. "You DO know of Voltron."
"Who are you?" Jenny asked. "And what was that about?"
"This was a test of unity," he replied. "Your friends fought valiantly, but the seer needed to understand the nature of this test, or you would have failed."
"You're the blacksmith," Christiane said.
"I have been called that," he replied. "In the days of Voltron's creation, I was known as Olan."
"Can you help us?" Jenny asked. Olan looked at her with a smirk.
"My time is short," he replied, "but that is precisely why you were summoned here."
"Summoned?" Jenny asked.
"Follow me," he replied. He led them from the room.
"I gotta go after her!" Jeff shouted. Cliff and Krik grabbed him and held him back.
"It's too dangerous to follow her on foot!" Cliff shouted.
"I can't let her go in there alone!" he shouted. Moments later, the shaking stopped, and a wind gusted from the cave.
"What's going on?" Krik asked. Moments later, several figures emerged from the cave. Jeff squinted his eyes.
"It's the Air Team!" Jeff shouted. He ran to them, then upon seeing Christiane, he wrapped his arms around her. "Chris! I thought I lost you for a minute!"
"I'm fine, Jeff," she replied. When he let go, he turned to see Olan.
"Is this who I think it is?" Jeff asked. Christiane nodded.
"This is the blacksmith," she replied, "Olan."
"It's an honor to meet you, sir," Jeff said, extending a hand. Olan shook it briefly.
"As much as I enjoy introductions," Olan said, "I have a job to do, and little time to do it in."
"Of course," Jeff said. Olan walked up to the module and looked it over.
"I see," he said. "You might want to stand back a bit." He pulled out a hammer and began striking it. The entire team looked on as Olan worked, repairing the leak and the Nexus, slowly restoring it to normal. Once he was done, he took a step back and looked. He closed his eyes.
I tried to spare you this fate, my daughter…but it is fate that this should come to pass.
"My work here is done," he said.
"There's so many things we want to ask you," Jeff said.
"I know," Olan replied, "but as I said, my time and role here is limited. I no longer belong to this world. This Voltron was never to have come into being…yet here it stands. And I finally understand the sacrifice that was made to build him…and what it meant to the entire universe." He lifted into the air, and in a flash of light, he broke apart. Five Krelshi swirled around them all, then flew away, disappearing from sight. Rocky climbed into the module and observed the panels.
"Energy levels are back to normal," he said. "It's like nothin' ever happened!" Jeff looked at Christaine, who nodded to him. He turned to look at Jenny, Cliff and Krik.
"Well, teams," Jeff said, "I don't think Ariel has ever seen our Voltron Force in action, have they?" The team leaders looked at one another. "Get to it!"
"Yes, sir!" they shouted and ran to their vehicles. Within minutes, they were all in the air.
"Let's show 'em what our Voltron can do!" Jenny shouted. "All units, form Voltron!" The vehickles flew in formation, and began to assemble. "Form feet and legs! Form arms and torso! And I'll form the head!" the CJE locked into place, the cargo bay doors opening to reveal Voltron's face, and its eyes lighting up. The Falcon turned and came down screaming, locking into place on Voltron's chest. Voltron reached into the air with both arms, then performed a series of air punches as the energy field dissipated. Voltron flew back down and gently landed in front of the Lion Riders and the crowd nearby….cheering.
"It's great to have him back," Cliff said.
"Indeed," Krik agreed.
"It doesn't matter if it's the Drules, the Halas, or whatever else is out there that tries to stop us," Jenny said. "They can come at us with whatever they've got, and we'll still defeat them thanks to Voltron…..Defender of the Universe!"
